My money for art comes out of my commissions as well. xD;; soo..I dunno.
Hrmm...I've not really ventured into offering CG commissions because..well honestly they take longer than my pencils but I've had requests for them so maybe i'll do sketch CG halfbodies for cheap. I dunno. But woe..hrmm..i think people can mimic my art? I've been told that before but that it was missing in the jAded factor...so..ahah well, i guess they fail then.
But well, my commission slots dont' fill either 8D. that and i take longer than most because i'm a perfectionist and will go at it till i'm somewhat satisfied. >_<;; plus if i open for commissions, i end up artblocking. does that happen to anyone else? :/
inks, done well, are sexy.
i think i went way off topic, but since we were sharing commission woes as it is..maybe it wasn't so tangental after all. rofl

jAded - I've seen people attempt to mimic your art. Suffice to say I've done it once or twice when I was bored, just never showed it to anyone. It's a matter of crosshatchcing and utilizing the 'box' frame thing. Tint the art in Photoshop, and then try to put it off as your style, but it still lacks something. Usually in the face. you do a technique that uses really sharp, catching eyes, that I myself, at least, find difficult to caputre. On a TOTALLY DIFFERENT NOTE: http://katanamotsu.deviantart.com/journal/10068770/ <--shameless whoring. vote for me (31)! ... please?

Oh man... I left Gaia over the summer because I was away working and BAM! When I come back I realize that there's a good 4-5 requests on my old... old shop that I never completed. gonk I feel like total s**t but I can't remember what anyone wanted or what we agreed on. >.<
So if any of you guys were one of those people.. pm me and I'll do something for you. 3nodding
I remembered Jupernia.. I still had her old pdf file but it was corrupted thanks to a horrible reformat job that my friend decided to do. (on their own accord *seeths*)

so in technicality, what you said you've mimicked several times isn't really a succes so to say then. i do want to see your attempts. 8D i've had more than one person say the same thing.
and just because i put things in a box for in a box commissions, doesn't mean that defines all that i do. but i wish people would show me how they try to art like me, because frankly i think there are a lot better artists to study than me, but i am flattered.

I have a deep, deep love for well-done penwork. They make my insides all ticklish and delightfully warm.

For the record, just want to see if this idea works. I don't know if I'll actually do it since it's so time consuming. But basically, I'm a 3-D Modeler. As in Maya, not Poser. I make s**t from scratch - from spheres and cubes and pull points until they look good, then I UV texture stuff in Photoshop. (wanted to make that clear, because most 3-D art i see on Gaia is Poser art). So, in short, I do s**t like this: More: http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v193/WoefulInfinity/lucient/Animatable, poseable, etc. (Even importable into Unreal Tournament, actually) Would people be interested in an auction of this kind of stuff? I was thinking start with a bust and SB of 250k. Seems like a lot, but people don't realize how tedious this can be.

and by the way, could you throw any tips at me? since I'm having 3D art classes this semester...3Dstudio max, not maya, but I still could use some advice how to make it look good, since it's my first try xDDD

lol. watch out for the HUGE program learning curve.
I mean HUGE. See my menus? Max is only a tiny bit simplter than that.
1) Try to never use polygons that aren't quads 2) Model things in halves, flip and sew together. 3) Extrusions are your friends, but use them wisely. 4) Go from simple to more complex.
