Siber decided to move back to the table and chairs. It seemed like a good idea at the time, but there was no telling what horrors awaited among the furniture. Seriously. He was entering this place with no clue what was going to pop out at him, even if it did pop out of a table. Stranger things had happened.

Paul turned as Siber left. "Hey man, don't go alone," Paul told him, turning away from the cabinets and going to follow him. Mirroring Siber's feelings surprisingly accurately, he darkly said, "Who knows what's gonna spontaneously generate around here..."

Siber's vision lost focus as he approached the chairs. He froze. Paul's eyes began to tear up inexplicably. Both blinked and their vision returned to normal. They saw a much younger-looking Helmsborough in one of the chairs and the woman whose face Legion had adopted to goad Helmsborough in another. They blinked again simultaneously, and saw an older-looking Helmsborough, more like the form they had seen him the day before. He sat across from a man in a cheap suit who had a piece of paper in front of him. Helmsborough's eyes were red and his hair was disheveled. He got up and walked through an open door into what looked like the kitchen. When he was out of sight, the man still in the chair disappeared.

Siber backed away in shock, fumbling with the Starburst before he recognized the face of the woman. Wait a minute. She's dead. Something's up. When the vision was replaced, he had one hand on the phase knife, but he hadn't brought it out yet. Once it was all over, he shrugged at Paul. "I guess we should follow. I'l let you lead; you have more military-type training than I."

Jacob saw where Siber and Paul were heading and decided to follow. He froze, however, when he got to the door. Something about that room just didn't seem right...

((you guys saw my post saying that Joe can't post today, right?
It was the last post on the page before this.))

((We saw, no worries.))

Siber and Paul progressed into the kitchen. It was pristine and practically shining.

The kitchen was a mess. Helmsborough stood at the counter in jeans and a heavily stained white tank top. Among the piles of dirty dishes, bowls, and pans were dozens of empty bottles of alcohol. Lighter stuff was buried deeper in the pile, and it progressed into harder liquors at the edges. Helmsborough himself was drinking straight from a bottle of vodka, tears running down his face in streaks. In the corner stood one of Abaddon's metallic men, holding the sword Helmsborough had wielded against them yesterday. Helmsborough finished his drink and collapsed to the floor.

The kitchen was so clean that Siber could see his reflection in the white tiles.

Siber fixed his hair. Police action had switched it every which way. "Someone's been cleaning this place for him. Whether it's just a maid, or what, either he's magically become a neat freak, or there's someone keeping this house looking nice. Also... interesting past. He should probably be suffering from some kidney disorder or another. Wonder if Abaddon's into medical treatment."

They could search the kitchen or move through the door to the next room.

Paul sighed. The visions here were... disturbing. He hadn't actually encountered Helmsborough, but he had been placed under the impression that the man was... sickened. Twisted. It looked like there was a reason for it. "Drinker indeed," Paul replied to Siber. "My question is, what is it that's driving him insane now, and what was it that was getting him back there? Are they contiguous events or was there a time lapse there?" He stared at the next door. "Siber, we're getting visions room at a time. Let's move to the next room." In order to encourage Siber to go with his plan, he moved forward, drawing the pistol from its holster. Just in case the next vision wasn't so pleasant and decided to be interactive.

((Dangit, I should've been able to post before you guys logged, but the ghey Gaia died on me - it physically wouldn't load. Ghey intranets.))

((Same thing happened to me actually.))

In the next room, the vision was simple. It was a room that existed more or less entirely to link the room with the TV to the kitchen and hold stairs. There was a bathroom across from the staircase. One went to the second story, the other went down to the basement. A loud retching came from the bathroom. Seconds later Helmsborough, eyes as red as in the other visions, stumbled out, passed through Paul, and walked down the stairs.

((Huh.))

Paul shrugged, looked back to Siber, and went down the stairs after Helmsborough. One thing led to another, every time.

((While we wait for Siber...

How would you guys feel about a separate OoC topic so we don't clutter the RP with pages upon pages of nonposts? Plus, it'd be good for having active discussions while not interrupting the story.))

((My only complaint with that is that OoC and the related posts get confusing, disjointed, etc. Perhaps we should at least try to in general post a link to our post in the topic? I just figured out how to copy the location of a specific post, so that would be useful knowledge in that instance...))

((Hmm... an interesting idea that is not without merit. I wouldn't be against it. Sorry for the delay; I was at work again and just posting as I could.))

Siber followed into the basement. So far, this psychosis was not top-level intriguing, but anything that ended in a hate-bond to a demi-god was bound to turn up something good.

Helmsborough was in his black shirt and slacks. His hair was a mess, still, but not tangled or dirty any more, and much shorter than it was in the last vision. The metallic man stood beside him still, in the same position with the same sword extended, an invitation to Jonathan Helmsborough, who was staring at a picture in one hand and cradling a box in the other.

"He killed her... he tortured her and killed her. And all of her suffering was just to put you through worse," the metal man said. "He killed her... he tortured her and killed her...."

It was like a smoothly looping recording. The metal man had been taunting him by repeating that for some time, it seemed. Upstairs, the news had abruptly cut to a report on the fall of the Berlin Wall.

On the fifth or sixth repetition Siber and Paul heard, Helmsborough abruptly dropped the picture and box, grabbing the sword, and began screaming "Enough!" over and over again as he slammed the sword against the metallic man. At the end, barbed chains erupted from his back and wrapped around his limbs, forming a familiar pattern.

The basement was about as neat as any basement could be expected to be. The box and picture lay exactly where they had fallen.
