RaeRae Rave Dude. I had this dream that I like, SERIOUSLY offended Skizz's mom. Which I don't get, seeing as I've never met her or spoken to her.
It was weird.
Edit: And SF really proves how little people understand about the costs of running a business, which is what Gaia pretty much has to be to survive. A lot of the complaints are valid, but I just hate the "Gaia's selling out by asking for money" thing. Servers, webspace, domain name, employees, offices, convention space, software, computers... it's not like it's cheap. A few thousand dollars a month shouldn't be enough to pay the bills. On the flip side...it's not like Gaia is pulling in a few thousand a month. It's likely closer to a few hundred thousand or maybe even a few million. Looking at the trend line for February, supply was actually fairly constant. Volume spiked in the middle of the month (release date), but outside of that, it remained fairly constant - about 1000 letters per day, more or less. So, we'll assume that 35,000 letters traded hands in February. If each letter corresponds to one unique letter (between those that never see the MP and those that go through it multiple times), that's $87,500 in revenue. Off of MCs alone. For one short month, where the MCs were not rated highly (AFAIK). This ignores evos and other cash shop items, which likely push it into the low 6 digits. January (where the Masterpieces were rather popular) and December (where everyone was wearing a Frostbite or a Snow Witch garment) were a bit more popular. January, I think, saw ~40,000 transactions. Assuming they're all corresponding to unique letters, that's $100,000 in pure revenue. And keep in mind, I'm assuming that they correspond to unique letters. I know when I donate, I sell about half my letters and keep the other half. And some don't go through the MP at all, instead going directly to people through trades. So these numbers could be higher by a small amount, or a significant amount. And then there are cash shop things. The orphans probably added in $5000-10,000 in revenue for recycled art, and maybe even more. (Kind of. Their backs had to be drawn.) The evos also factor in - each Hermes' Moon generates $10, and while there are six generations, they've all (so far) shared the same forms. Fausto's Bottle does have different ending forms, but most of these are rather similar (a pony galloping behind you). They don't need to be redrawn, necessarily. The fact is, Gaia could easily be making $100-$200k a month off the users alone. Granted, we do average ~110k users at peak hours, which is still increasing at a fast pace. And Gaia is an extremely intensive application, between forums and games and graphics. But yeah. Salaries are probably what's killing them, though. Paying Fleep can't be that cheap. Neither can paying Craig. And I think Gaia has something like 100 paid staff? Not sure how many are freelance and how many are actually on the payroll, but yeah.

Yessss...my Brawl shipped whee If I didn't have $55 worth of Amazon gift card to use, I would have gotten it somewhere else. I can't get it right when it comes out, but it's ok. At least it's here in time for spring break cool
In other news, I got really cool earrings. They're black 6g plugs with a star cutout all the way through. My piercing wasn't big enough though, so a little more stretching. I think I have 4 14g rings through...and it looks so bad crying

On the flip side...it's not like Gaia is pulling in a few thousand a month. It's likely closer to a few hundred thousand or maybe even a few million. Mostly I was referring to posts like one I saw in which someone decided to multiply all $2.50 times the monthly collectibles in the marketplace, and then went on to say that he calculated roughly $2,600 and that should be plenty.
I can imagine what Gaia pulls in isn't a measly amount, but the idea that less than $3,000 would be more than sufficient is just absolutely moronic.

hilaroma Shoujo Phoenix hilaroma Shoujo Phoenix hilaroma I have one thing to say: I HATE the inventory arranger. stressed crying Me too. I learned a few tricks though. First, make damn sure that when it says "Saving Inventory" after you move something, make sure it disappears before you touch anything else. Also, I never ever do a big rearrangement because there is probably a 99% chance it'll ******** up. Like, you think you moved shoes where the shoes are only to look at it later and realize they are in your shirts. gonk Yeah, I figured that out the hard way. Sometimes the "transferring to blah blah..." message never disappears though, so I just click to another window, come back and it's gone. Doing that after I moved each item, I was able to fix my inventory back to the way it was. Thank goodness...I was almost at my frustration breaking point. sweatdrop Also, Kimi! Are you guys still planning to head up to Yosemite during Spring Break? surprised Eh, I dunno. I'll have to talk with Rachel. She has finals that week crying Aww...for some reason, I thought we all had the same spring break. crying Do let me know when you find out though. I hate my life.. crying xd I don't think I'll be able to go because I just have so much stuff to do, and I need to be there to take my finals and turn in my papers.... I'm so sorry gonk

Peppermint Elf Zelyhon Dr. Fomite In other news, finding a Wii is proving to be a great big pain in the a**. On the note of Wiis, how many people here are going to get Super Smash Brothers Brawl? If people are going to get it, then we all need to exchange Wii friend codes to play against each other! I would, but I'm gonna be broke after I pay to have lazarz put into my eyeballs. *seriously sick of her glasses*Lazers?!? Cool!!!! surprised

Dr. Fomite Streamjumper Zelyhon Dr. Fomite [Dill] If you got told to get out, I'd feel very very scared of losing my lurking ground if I ever broke up with Mega. : DDD; So hopefully you stick around, because I like reading your posts. Seeing as I have... nothing else to add to this post... lol oh phoenix you cad you xd That video...was win.
Oh. For the record, nobody's going anywhere. Not unless they want me to cut off their limbs and stuff them in the AG closet.
Granted, I might do that anyway. But the odds go up after escape attempts. The limbs, the person, or both? Yes. 3nodding Oh. After I finished Apollo Justice, I started Super Robot Taisen OG. Liking muchly. Yeah, I could take a Sanger home.
In other news, finding a Wii is proving to be a great big pain in the a**. How was Apollo Justice? I might get it when my paycheck comes... whee
