Oh, boo! Sorry to hear that, Rae!
On a change of topic, I'm wondering what TYPE of artwork tends to sell the best, commissionwise. What I mean is, natural vs traditional, fullbody versus bust, et cetera. What would you think sells the fastest / yields the highest net gain?
I know around Christmastime a lot of people were doing those $15 busts. Those seemed to go well from where I was, but the total gain across them all wouldn't be as high if the same number of people all pitched for halfbody, or fullbody, or whatever.
Do you find yourself more likely to put out real money if the price is low, or if the detail/quality/size/etc is high?

Haha, that I figure was to cater to large amounts of people. If anything, I put my bust sup after christmas, and I gonly got one (same price as everything else, $15). It works best forst artists who don't do a lot of commissions and have a large fanbase who will jump on a chance to get any piece of said artists artwork (skim vs. penetration launch marketing, lulz) .More unknown people have to fofer items of higher quality else people will just go get a bust from thier favorite artist.
For me, it's always been pencil stuff that sells best. Becfause, i suppose, the thing that sells best for an artists is, well, - what they specialize in. Like, if you want a JadedIce pencil portrai, you can't go to anyone but jadedice.
The fastest for me is anything in ink - suffice to say, nobody's bought anything of mine in ink. I'm also decent fast with marker as well. Colored pencil's the real killer for me because ... well, pencil tips are small, and layering takes an assload of time - I'm STILL working on a pencil pic I started the first week of January!
In terms of like, body size, full and half I find relatively similar, but they both definitely beat out bust. Most people I've found, when they spend real money one someone who offers all different sorts of commissions at once, will go for the best thing they can get. Like, why settle for abust when you can get a full? (assuming all prices are within range)
OF course, like any customer, I only put out real money if value is high. That is, I get waht I consider the most I can get for waht I consider a fair price. So I go for good deals - quality may be low, but if the price is low, it might be worth it so for vice-versa. I mean, sure, it means I pass up s lot, but *shrug* My money to commission people comes from my own commissions - so suffice to say, it's not a lot.
Haha, and that marketing class i'm taking is finally put to use.

Speaking strictly from a consumer point of view, I'm more likely to buy low priced headshots than anything else. However I find a low price for headshots with a steady increase in price...draws me in and I end up spending more. xd
