"Yes, he would want to write about it, especially if nothing has yet been written about it in the archives," Earendil added. "Who knows if Alena's had the chance to write anything about it yet ..."

After all, it would have been a busy few years for her here, as well.

"Nevermind the amount of tests he would want to run on the soil and material here," Lin added.

It wasn't enough to just write for Shiro, he had to explore, prod and poke at something before he was satisfied.

Miyuki took a piece of food and nibble, she didn't remember Shiro all that well. Except he was always working and surrounded by books or with... with... that box thing with a lot of buttons.

Earendil chuckled. "Shiro has always been curious about everything," he agreed with Lin. "He's always testing ... it's amazing he didn't want to spend more time in the places we visited on our first journey."

He hoped that the neko would join them again in the future. He was always full of answers, and it gave them more excuses to stay in one place and explore even after Earendil was finished with his mapping projects.

"Well he did take a lot of samples with him from the trip," Lin replied, "I wonder what he's doing with them."

Whatever it was, it was probably running up the electricity bill again.

"I know the plant samples from Naruos is currently growing in the greenhouse under Yukiko's care. She was delighted with those samples."

"How are they turning out?" Earendil asked curiously. "Did they take root and begin to grow?"

He knew not much time would have passed that Lin was there between her visits here, but perhaps it would have been enough time to know whether or not anything had happened with the samples.

Lin nodded, which was a good thing because they actually hadn't been sure if the saplings would take root in Gaian soil.

"Enough that Yukiko was working to transplant them into bigger pots. They won't be put into the ground until a larger greenhouse is made. Since they come from a tropical climate she thinks it would be safer to grow them inside."

Earendil blinked in amazement. "So quickly?" he breathed. "And here I thought it had only been a few weeks since you had returned ..."

Perhaps he had been mistaken, but had it not been only three days the first time she had returned, and three weeks the second time? Could plants grow so quickly?

Lin winked at Earendil, "Yukiko begged Trisha to speed their growth a bit. I actually didn't even know Trisha had magic with plants until Yuki-chan mentioned it."

It was strange really, she would have thought Trisha's Second magic would have been something like making paintings real or moving like Serenity.

"Though to be fair I think Trisha forgot as well, that's not a talent she uses normally."

Earendil chuckled and shook his head. "Isn't that considered cheating?" He asked with a grin. "If you use magic to help them along, then who can tell if they would really grow in your world on their own?"

Not much of an experiment, really, though he supposed in the end they would at least be guaranteed fruit for their trouble.

"I'm told she just speeds their growth, it doesn't promise they'll grow. Yukiko said the green house is already full so she wanted to weed out the weaker saplings so she can focus on the ones she knows will grow, something you don't know until they become a bit older."

Of course that was all hearsay, Lin didn't know much about what it took to grow, but she knew Yukiko didn't grow all the saplings she planted. If they were too small or didn't seem to do well she discarded them to focus energy on growing the stronger ones.

Earendil grinned at Lin. "If you say so," he teased her.

He paused, then added, "And how are Aunt Elnara and Uncle Lore and their family? I've asked Kaito, but he's rather ... vague. Talks mostly about Shiro and Ura and himself."
PostPosted: Sat Aug 07, 2010 10:06 am

"Probably because he gets couped up in the library most of the time," Lin murmured, "Shiro has way too much work to do..."

She knew it would be a pain for Shiro, but she hoped that he would somehow manage to get the grounds to produce it's own energy because frankly being a slave to the electricity bill was frightening. Lin also had such faith in Shiro that she bet he could come up with more productive solar panels or what not.

"Elnara and Lore are doing fine, Lore is of course working at the library, but from what I heard from his assistants he doesn't take as many hours there as he use to. Granted, his normal hours was back before he was married, or even began courting Elnara, which was a lot of hours."

She supposed if one didn't have a love interest and their hobby was connected to the library it would only make sense to spend an insane amount of hours there.

"Hana and Garrick are now fully talking and getting about. They're probably around four now. Which means they could probably start being formally taught small things... I actually didn't ask Elnara what her plans are for that, if she planned to return to the school to work, or if she wanted to home school the twins or what."

It wouldn't be bad after all, the school was so much populated by family it was almost like being taught by family anyways.

Earendil smiled. "They should visit us again. It's been decades since we've seen any of them, they're long past due."

He hadn't seen the children since they were two or so, and especially in this world, that was a long time.

Lin giggled at that, this was true it had been a long time since the two had visited. At least, she was pretty sure of that.

"I'll mention it on the next trip back," Lin replied, "I'm sure the two could use a break."

"Wonderful," Earendil grinned. He looked down at Miyuki. "Have you been able to spend much time with your cousins?" he asked her curiously.

Strange to think it, but his cousins, Hana and Garrick, were Miyuki's cousins by the same relation - just not by blood.
