Vegetarian is being practice worldwide. It's about personal believe and everyone's reason is vary. I can't speak for them all. As in the post in the first page, some don't eat it for moral, health and some just doesn't like the taste.

My family is Buddhist, and mom and my sister don't eat meat. Their religion view is skewed though. gonk Anyhow, my mom just believe it's a bad karma for her, so she tries to avoid doing it. She still eats fish though for the health reason.

My sister....she is actually like beef. When she first stop eating meat, she did it because her boyfriend (ex-boyfriend now) doesn't eat meat. He believes that cow does a hard manual job for us enough, so we shouldn't eat them. so my sister follow his believe. stare

Me, I like meat. I do feel sorry for the animal though, and sometimes I do want to stop eating meat too. then again, I used to read Maddoxx's article about vegetarian back then, and he's right on the part that the animal is going to get killed anyway. Maybe this is just my excuse but I do agree on that, and I don't want to be a hypocrite so I tried not to be as much as possible. I do think even though we don't eat meat, there is no way we can't avoid hurting other thing in our life time.

I used to read an article about Buddhism. One rule for a strict Buddhist is to not hurt or kill animal, including human, and I read an argument that debate against it. Saying that, we can't avoid doing that because just when we take some drugs to kill off a cold virus or any bacteria when we are sick, we already kill a living thing already. 3nodding Like other animal, Virus and Bacteria is innocent too, it's not like they intentionally harm us and we can kill it, for our profit.

If plant have feeling, I'd do the same as animal. I can eat it, if I am not the one that kill it or hurt in, n the scene where the animal are killed or don't know that animal personally. If I stuck in an desert island and I am hungry, I think I probably choose to kill myself rather than kill the animal though.

I wanted to come into this thread and apologize for my behavior earlier. I was simply upset that someone was telling me what I followed and what my beliefs were when they had no idea. I don't like people telling me who I am when they don't know me. So again I apologize for my behavior.

and to answer jaft's question: it's a thinker... but i would probably only eat it if i wasn't the one who had to kill it. ninja

Savage... Lol.

The thing is... They are still "alive" when they are green despite being cut right? So that means, to not hear their screams, you'd have to eat greens when they're brown.

What say you on that?

I just don't eat meat anymore simple as that actually. It'd started to make me sick and I just can stand meat anymore, but I can stomach products with egg in them (meaning I'm no strict vegetarian)...

because they think animal crulity is wrong, plain and simple.

good point.
i guess i am a savage xd
meh, i'm a hypocrit. i'm like all the other morons who say things like "oh i won't eat that! it's too cute and fuzzy! 4laugh "
rolleyes
yeah.. i like beef. and i like chicken. and pork. and i find all of those animals (cows, chickens [as chickies ^^], and pigs [as babies]) adorable.
if i had to watch a mammal get killed then eat it.... chances are i would be too mortified to eat it. however i don't associate guilt of eating an animal when i don't have to kill it and be the one to watch it cower in horror before being killed. this may sound very brash but it's honestly how i see it. (sorry to the vegetarians who are mortified at my comments gonk )
with vegetables? hell if a vegetable had the same terrified reaction, and had to be restrained while i kill it, and had the same bloody and messy outcome, i probably wouldn't eat those vegetables. *shrug*
i guess it's more the blood factor for me then. i love watcing operations on TV and blood doesn't scare me at all, but a) i really don't like being the one who shed the blood, and b) i kind of eat while not conscious to the fact that my food once lived and had blood. i can't directly associate blood with my food... for some reason it weirds me out. eek i can just barely touch raw meat.... and i will never eat rare steak. if i'm cooking the meat and there isn't too much blood.. then sure, i'll still cook it and eat it. but massive amounts ... associated with my food gonk it's a bit uneasy for me.

meh. i realize i probably contradicted myself a hundread times over but i tried as best i could to rationalize how i feel, and put it into words.
anywho. blaugh

I, personally, am vegan for not only health reasons, but also for environmental reasons. Go ahead and call me a greenie. If I took the time to explain, this would be a very long post. Besides, my attention span would probably run out of time, and I'd forget what I'm doing.
whee
Apart from all that, (RELIGION: CHRISTIAN) God gave us a sea of fish to eat out of. I don't think he was TOO hapy when we ran off killing buffalo and cows.
stare
Apart from all all that, well...

COW= Diner for a night.
THE GREENERY IT TAKES FOR A COW TO GROW FAT= Dinner for a lifetime.
