Having fainted from fear, the mousy woman stirred uneasily, one hand automatically reaching out to pluck her glasses from the floor, where they had slipped off her nose. With a groan, Nataki unsteadily got to her feet--and became very still, very quiet. Everything was grey. It hadn't been a dream. Swallowing hard, Nataki wrapped her arms around herself firmly and crept through the silent headquarters, practically jumping out of her skin as a childish giggle rippled through the hallways. What on Earth...?
The woman was quiet, her initial sense of looming panic having died down now that her head felt thick and fuzzy after hitting the floor. Nataki stumbled aimlessly through the Headquarters, disorientated, stumbling through now-opened doors. Soon, she paused, blinking confusedly--and realizing she was outside. "A garden...that's nice." She murmured stupidly, taking two steps before promptly stopping once more. There were people! Two people...their outlines looked a bit funny, but Nataki didn't think anything of it. "Hey..." She called almost sleepily, staggering over, "Did everything stop being scary yet--" Eyes widened, and she inhaled sharply, realizing all at once that these two people weren't normal.
"Oh, God," She whimpered, her hands starting to wrangle each other again, "Why do you have wings?" And the child--were those ears? "Is this a costume party? A late Halloween party? Something?" Her voice got squeakier and squeakier with each question--Nataki was apparently on the verge of hysteria.

He heard it. He KNEW he heard it. Despite the gray, despite hte everything, Yashi KNEW he had heard that forgein, familier language ring out smewhere. Iamel was forgotten and abandoned as Yashi broke free of Iamel and the crazy woman who found them.
"Zah?!" He yelled out over the area, turning around in circles. His ears were high on his head now, pricked to hear anything possible. "ZASALAMEL! ZAH!"
Sure, there was a girl screaming, but he heard his friend.
Iamel paused a little, forgetting about his brother as the new person arrived. Her greeting was less then kind and two pierced eyebrows slowly rose on his forehead. "...Lady, you're in a room where spots were invading," The youth drawled out, "Yashi is a reincarnated fox spirit and I'm a woodpecker. I can also blow things up. Why would it be halloween?"
Red eyes squinted at Nataki and Iamel sniffed at her experimentally. "...are you high?"

As the child started yelling, spinning around in circles, Nataki nearly leapt out of her skin, hands gripping at her frizzy hair, like she was expecting a blow. Shying away from Yashi for a moment, the tiny woman started at Iamel's voice, staring at him with large eyes. "S-Spots? Fox s-spirit? Woodpecker?" She repeated in a quavering tone, not understanding. The sniffing was strange--but the question made her flush with embarrassment and perhaps a bit of outrage. "Certainly not!" She squeaked before realizing she was talking to a winged being who could...blow things up? Shrinking again, Nataki chewed her lower lip for a moment. "...Is he all right?" She was concerned for the boy, even if her hands still continued their mindless wrangling.

Taylor, for the past few minutes, had been attempting to stay as far away from everything as possible. This left her scrunched into one of the least creepy corners (one close to the entrance to the gardens), her book held protectively in front of her face, her eyes squinched tightly shut. She knew she ought to be watching what was going on- this could be an incredible scientific discovery- but she was also scared as hell.
When the lights came on, she slowly lowered the book and peered around the room. Things were... less frightening. And, finally, she found a familiar face.
"IAMEL!" she shouted out of relief, standing up to run to the Guardian of Death. "HOLY s**t! What's going on? Everything went grey and there were all these faces and then-" She stopped for breath, realizing she was making a fool of herself. This was no time to panic. Breathe. Calm down. Damn, she wished Diacyn was here. He would have known what to do, or at least acted like he did.
"It's okay," she added to Nataki (the only other person she sort-of knew), though she was still panicked and breathing heavily. "Iamel's awesome. He's one of my friends. And yeah. He explodes things." She shuddered faintly, holding her book tightly to her chest as a shield between herself and the strangeness.

Back in the Gardens, the sound of birdsong was as loud and strong as ever- if not more so. The massive tremor had knocked Danny clear off her feet, and the little fern babe along with her. On hands and knees, the Guardian was fussing over the child, searching for injury- oh, but that was going to be a nasty bruise on Vana's left arm, and a few leaves on her tail were crinkled- she seemed to be all right, though, just panicking. Danny could certainly understand those sentiments; they were now solidly in the grey, she could tell, and shivers were mingling about her spine.
Still... the grey didn't seem so bad. There was a strange sense of tiredness about it, sure, and it was pretty dull... but it didn't seem to have any strong effect on her or Vana, so what was to be worried about?
Then she looked down to her child, managing a reassuring smile. The smile faded quickly, however, as she blinked. And blinked again. Was something wrong with her eyes? The babe was... beginning to lose her color, and Danny's eyes went wide with panic.
"Vana? Vana, what's...." Grabbing the child, trying to find why she was now fading with the rest of the world (after all, the people in the grey area she'd seen before hadn't been actually affected by it, and how was she to know that what was happening to Vana, was happening to everyone else?), Danny was positively horrified to find that her own skin was beginning to grey as well.
Danny didn't take horror too well. For a moment, a very loud shrieking joined in the general chaos of baby-wails and bird-chirps.

Shira's head whipped around in surprise as she heard screaming beyond the largest door on the opposite end of the hallway. Without thought her legs rushed towards the other end, her head spinning with the possibility that the shadows had returened. Shira yanked the door open to spot that the grey had indeed spread farther than she thought, affecting the living here as well.
Shira searched the depressing area before spotting the subject of shrieking. She made her way over towards a woman who seemed to be panicking over the child she held in her hands. The child who had....leaves growning out of their....body???
"Miss!" Shira started a bit unsteadily, shaking the woman by the shoulders a bit to attain her attention. "Miss! Calm down! What happened? Are you alright?"

About this time Rouge was just waking up again. Strangely with the very short nap came a pretty different mood.
"G'morning." She yawned standing up and stretching. Her neck cracked as she moved it and she grinned. "so why're we all standing around?"
While she at least LOOKED like the cool, calm and collected woman from a little while ago a strange change in her personality was evident. If one didn't know better they'd say she had just woken up after a 13 hour sleep at a spa and resort not in the middle of a grey area in HQ.

Clutching Vana, Danny certainly did not look all right. In fact, the poor girl looked like she was ready to drop to the ground at any second, totally and completely overwhelmed by the all-out freakiness of the situation going on around her.
"V... V... I'm... Green's...." Looking to Shira with greyish tears in her greyish eyes, Danny wasn't sure whether to be relieved or even more panicked as she note that the grey was setting in on the other woman as well.
This was just too much for her. Her face read loudly with her regrets- she shouldn't have come to this stupid place, she knew the HQ was only trouble, and now something was happening to her and her baby and if anything bad happened (and she knew it was going to!) it was going to be all her fault, all her fault....
"... M... my fault...." Sobs began to bubble up through her voice as she entered the zone of hysteria. "V-vana's in trouble, and... and it's all my fault, I shouldn't have brought her here, I can't believe h-how stupid I was and now look what's happened and she'sturnedgreyandIdon'tknowwhattodo and and and...!"

Undisturbed by much of anything other than the fact she was still locked in the damn cupboard, Kay started pounding on the door. Hard. "GET ME OUT OF THIS FREAKING CUPBOARD!"
It was about the closest Kay had ever been to using a non-gaelic curse in her life. She was panicking and it was becoming harder to breathe.
She was small and the cupboard was built to fit her comfortably, but it had never LOCKED on her before. The little area under the desk, becoming her prison, had lost all it's comfort.
"HEEEEEEELP!"
Oh god, if someone didn't hear her, she was going to break down into tears.

The rather sleepy and sort of oblivious Rouge found herself tuning into some noise she couldn't quite comprehend. Walking towards it she found herself standing in front of a cupboard and there being sounds coming from it.
Wait a sec......sounds? Cupboard? Child screaming? Where had that little white haired girl gone anyway? Kneeling down the woman tried at the door. What was this girl's name? Kay! That was it.
"Kay, I need you to calm down. The door won't open from this end. Can you try to see if its locked on the inside?"

Did she think she was stupid or something? "OF COURSE it isn't locked from the inside! I'm used to this cupboard! I didn't lock it! It's not locked! It's STUCK!"
To make a point, the girl took a deep breath and the little tiny clicks could be heard. Definitely NOT locked.
Why would she throw such a fit if it was a simple matter of the cupboard being locked?

Shira almost cried herself at the distressed look the woman was giving her. She attempted to comfort the distressed parent, "Calm down! It'll be alright soon. This is in no way your fault, you had no idea that all of this was going to happen....whatever is going on here..." Shira looked around and noticed the decaying plants.
"But you're not the only one. This is happening to other kids too. It might be safer if we try and find them and figure out what's happening here together. Maybe we can find a way to help your kid." Shira hoped this was reassuring in the least bit.

Rouge rolled her eyes. Pain in the a** child. She could just leave her there as the door was stuck. But of course that'd be rude and pain in the a** or not she was still a kid. Albeit an obnoxious one.
"Yeah kid just keep bitching and moaning. I'm sure it makes everyone want to let you out even more." she grumbled sarcastically. "Whatever it is sticking this thing its not natural. You'll just have to wait till it decides to unlock the cupboard."

The quake was enough to jolt her rudely out of her thoughts, tipping the woman towards the floor. Luckily, she had been quick enough to twist her body at a painful angle, hitting the ground of the garden on her side instead of on top of Xerksis. The toddler was clutched tightly to her chest, those narrow arms making a very flimsy excuse of a shield. Over the next few moments, she lay unconcerned about the grayness that had now caught ahold of them effectively, conversing with the Illithid without saying anything verbally to judge his condition. Other than a simple 'Squished.' she would receive little response as to anything that ailed him. He was apparently alright for now.
Pushing to her feet with one arm -the other protectively wrapped around Xerk- Kyo swayed almost drunkenly. She was tired, her narcolepsy was beginning to rear its ugly head, but the energy-sapping had ceased. She could see the gray seeping slowly into her dark pants, and actually adding color to her fingertips. There was a smudge of grey on Xerksis' nose and speckling his chest, beginning to slowly progress. No wonder why Danny was screaming. Incapable of too much emotion, Kyo looked on to Shira and Danny and lurched towards them unsteadily. "It's eating at us all.." Thank you, Missus Obvious. "The hurting has... stopped." For now. She neared the three, glancing around for any signs of Ari. "Please... we should be rational..." Hard to say when you and your kid were beginning to lose your color, huh? "It was nothing you could help, Miss.."

Rouge would be obnoxious too if she was trapped in a small cupboard, Kay was sure.
"Raicleach," Coailiann muttered, shifting in the cupboard so her feet were against the door. Promptly she began stomping against it in an attempt to break the wood.
A crack could be heard, but it definitely wasn't the door.
"OWOWOWOWOWOWOW"
A string of Gaelic curses shot from her mouth as she rubbed her foot - which, thankfully, wasn't broken.
