"I see. What is the current state of your country?" The Inquisitor sat back in his chair once more.
The flagship pulled out of formation and headed for the planets first moon. After half an hour the Emperor's shuttle was prepared to embark for the surface with both the Emperor and Nuba on board. It was flying quickly toward the main Marine training facility.

"I don't know; when we were taken off with the people that helped us out, the place was under full invasion. It's more likely then not... destroyed..." Part of her wanted to cry, the thoughts of the innocents, the people who can't defend themselves, and the little children who were just too young to die, laid to waste by an invading army that they failed to fend off.

"You do know that those who "helped you" planted nuclear weapons in your capital city and then detonated them." He smirked. He knew how much it ate at Shadow. This one seemed much softer compared to him.

Her eyes widened and as much as she tried to fight it, tears started to roll down her face. "What... then why... help us..." 'Did everyone want us dead, did no one want us?'

"Two very good questions. Think on them." He nodded to the guardsman next to her. The guardsman unhooked her from the chair and just as he stood her up, he slammed her down on the table and restrained her there. The large marine in silver armor walked out and returned with a restrained Shadow. The Inquisitor was handed a laspistol. The guardsman grabbed Jinzo by the hair on the back of her head and pulled her face into view. "Former Major Shadow, next time you lie to me she will lose her eyesight." He aimed the pistol and held down the trigger. The laser burned the skin and muscle across her face from earlobe to earlobe causing third degree burns. He carved another straight down from her hairline to her chin in the center of her face.

He tried his best to show now emotion, but couldn't help his eyes from narrowing. "I'll keep that in mind."
Jinzo yelled out in pain, and was shaking violently.

"Good. Take them both back to their cells." The Marine and guardsmen did as they were ordered and took them back to their cells. The marine shoved shadow into the cell next to Jinzo. Both of the heavy steel doors slid shut isolating both. The Inquisitor walked by being followed by his retinue. "This could take a while for the boy."

Shadow didn't speak nor look to Jinzo, all he could do was keep mis mind as blank as possible.
"What the hell is wrong with you!?" Tears were still falling from her eyes. "Why didn't you just tell them what they wanted to know!?" Shadow still remained silent to her. "You've changed... that's all i got to say... you've changed."
Taking a deep breathe, but still not looking to her, he answered; "Life can do that, harden a person. Keep in mind we're not dealing with emotional people, if they're even people at all. They can ******** with your mind itself; it'd be wise of you to get used to not thinking, and acting out of reaction." And with that, he went totally silent once more.

The massive ship was greeted by the 3rd fleet. The Emperor's shuttle was readied. He and his entourage, including Nuba, were taken to the Marine training facility. The facility was several miles away from the main city. The entire fleet moved in escort for the shuttle.

Nuba turned to the Emperor as he arrived "Forgive me, Master, but might I inquire what you plan to do with Hallas? And what do you know about the girl from another world?"

"That will remain a secret for now. It would not be wise to tip off a spy within our ranks. If there is one. In this facility psychic communication is off limits. It interferes with the candidates and trainees." He said. The shuttle touched down. As they set foot on the docking bay they were met by a strange creature flanked by two active duty marines. The first was a floating torso with an anti gravity system in place as a plug for his organs. He had no arms. Instead he had four mechanical limbs used in the modification installations. His face and head were horribly scarred. He had two powerful microscope like modifications that acted as his eyes. His very presence was almost maddening he was so powerful psychically. The marines bore a different insignia than those in the 1st fleet. It was a wasteland like planet engulfed in white flames held in the grasp of a large black hand. "My Lord;" His voice was shaky and sounded tired, "we are conducting the entrance exam now. Would you like to spectate?" "That's precisely why we're here." he replied. The priest bowed and he lead them to an observation tower.

Hallas had been thinking of a way to escape since she had come to, and she had not come across much luck. The guards in the vicinity were all dead and everything had been fried when she had gone haywire, but she wasn't ready to try getting out alone just yet. Also, she was not going to leave without Jinzo and Shadow, or Shlag for that matter, as she had grown to see them as friends despite everything that had occured since her meeting them. She stood up, finally making her decision, and undid her corset , stripping down to her brassiere. She quickly pried the metal boning out, and used her strength to warp it into a shape usable to her. She quickly slipped into a uniform that had been on one of the female guards that had been killed by her attack, which had conveniently not affected the clothing or armor. She checked herself to make sure everything was at least even half-correct, as she needed to blend in as well as possible. She felt at home in the outfit, though not as much as her Agility Suit that she had left back in her living quarters, hidden in a secret closet that only she had the combination to.

Shlag awoke as she heard the door to her room slide open. She instinctively grabbed for a weapon that wasn't there. She looked at the guard who just entered.
Within' the marine training center, the Emporer watched as the marines-to-be fought with everything; tooth and nail, sword and axe, against one another. One combatant had stood out form the rest at the beginning of the test until she had been struck down from behind with blunt side of an axe that had killed her instantly. Out of the fifty for this unit, after five minutes, only ten stood. Some of the best fighters of this generation were slaughtering each other mercilessly. Not a single one knew why they were.
After only one remained, a circular door in the center off the room raised from the ground. A cage bearing a beast having been born on the borders of the red and yellow zones. A massive and viscous animal. It rushed leapt at the cage's door until it opened via the tech priest's command. The beats let out a mighty howl and slowly circled the only survivor. It was a man bearing a mace in one hand with an arrow jammed in the artery of the other attempting to stifle the bloodloss of having a arm cut off just above the elbow. The beast sensed an opening and ran toward him, leaping into the air. The man lashed out with his mace, but he was too late. The creature forced him to the ground, pinned him arms and began eating him alive.
The emperor looked down. "It's really too bad. Out of 50 people, you'd think one would be able to survive. Let the beast finish eating, trap it and start the next test." He left the main observation deck and walked along a hallway into the next observation tower. In the first fleet's trainees he hoped to have better choice than letting an animal devour the corpses. He wanted a new champion to fight on the fronts for Emperor and his people.

Shadow was sitting quietly in his cell. It indeed bothered him to have to talk down to Jinzo like he did, but logic dictated most of his actions, and logic knew better then to give information away like she did. Keeping his mind void of any thoughts, he looked around his cell. "Wonder how much longer they'll keep us locked up." He spoke aloud.

A guard banged on the door. "Quite in there. Orders haven't come down on what to do with you. You'll probably be reeducated and conscripted into the Imperial Guard. Which sounds worse than it is. The people in our culture love men and women in uniform. May even get picked for marine training if you're good enough in I.G. training. In which case, when you are on shore leave, the ladies will line up for you. Heh, gets all of us I.G. guys pissed when some walk into a bar we're in. Anyway, be quite." The second guard began laughing. "Dude, you talked more than he did." "Shut up, a*****e."
