Gaius Harper

PostPosted: Mon Oct 30, 2006 6:28 pm

Gaius came up behind the others, staying near to Marshall and Oz.

"Are those... gravestones?" he stared. He stopped before the fence, hesitant to go over. It wasn't too difficult to read the writing with the light from there, anyways.

Most of the names made no sense to him, being folks he'd never heard of. Except for Fiona. At least she'd been burried. That much brought him relief.

The explanations of their deaths, however, did not.

"Complications? Wh-what are they getting at... people have died from these changes?" he said a little too loudly.

And then a woman started laughing nearby, piercingly. Gaius winced. Must have been hysterics.

Angelina was quiet, just hugging herself tighter as she read the tombstones. She didn't know any of them, but she knew Ambrose and Dude had been pretty close. Which meant he was an islander... died of complications?

Angelina swallowed, looking over her barely transformed self.. knowing full well her file was flagged for 'complications.'

Was this her fate? If they couldn't find a way for the serums to work on her... would she eventually ...

She suddenly felt very alone, wishing even hard Ambrose was there.

Bobby Reynolds

Bobby heard the laughing, and from the corner of her eye spotted Ginerva. The woman had no mix of animal scent... which meant, she was probably a lab tech. With a quiet snarl, the pig mumbled to herself, "I know where you came from..." She had taken in such people... to jail, to insane asylums.... The doctor sure knew how to pick his help.

Richard startled from his pondering by Ginerva's hidious giggle. Richard maybe would forgive a nervious laugh but that laugh was anything but innocent.

He glared at her. "Why are you laughing?" It was acussitory. Real or not. This was not funny.

Pyroth Ignatius

Pyroth followed Bobby until the smell faded from his immediate world and he could breathe at the normal pace again. He was scared to open his eyes at Bobby's exclamation but ended up doing so anyway just because his imagination seemed so much worse. The solemn sight that met him made him freeze and a horrible icy sorrow fill him. He had a feeling such things had happened, that a place like this would exist but he had never expected to find it.

"The lost ones..." was all he could saw as he bowed his head in respect.

Only when he read the names did he break down further, cursing his inability to cry for all it was worth.

"The dude.." he said remembering the happy, optimistic man who had brought a shine to any gathering. And his neighbour whom he'd never met. Now another empty duplex, a story left untold. So many victims of a loss of control on the part of Annie.

And the last gravestone, the one who started it all.

He looked away, leaning into Bobby. "It could have been us."

The laughter made him snarl.

Nita tripped and fell to her knees, the rough ground tearing into the pads on her hands. Looking up, a series of headstones came into view. Automatically scanning the names and dates, she gasped. Fiona. Fiona's grave. But not, she couldn't help but notice, Annie's grave. Was she still at large? Nita tried to pull herself up, but her legs were too weak. The tears came back, accompanied by loud, coughing sobs. "Kikue..!" Nita wailed, fumbling around for the leopard-girl.

Sid Eisley

Sid slowly turned his head to look at Oz when he was addressed, his mind still reeling with the fact he could very well die with his next change. He hadn't even noticed him until then.

Had the people who'd died of complications been as young as the others, as old as him? Were his chances worse with his age. He had to face it, he was getting old, senior menu old... And there couldn't be a worse time to let that hit him again.

"Anticlimax?" He echoed, once the word filtered through his thoughts. Once he got a good look at the other man, the comment made a little more sense, which only made him feel worse. The crazy laughter barely registered in the midst of all that.

"Yeah... sure."

The way his mouth and tongue moved when he talk was interesting to say the least.

Miller continued to pace around looking at each stone notceing a girl, almost human like him, the girl being Angelina. He knelt beside her trembling. "H-hey... wh- who are these people? They arn't... the things..." he couldn't say it, he didn't want to think about the corpses any more but the sight was stuck in his head.

Once parked on the ground, the crownless prince of frogs pulled his knees up to his chest, his arms wrapping around his head as he rocked himself gently, trying to get a hold of his nerves. But they weren't only shot and frayed but would need a good braiding befor they could be tied back together again. His sobs slowly evolved into choked wimpers.

Kikue shook, her eyes moving the gravestones...silent markers, speaking volumes. Names...Fiona.

Her legs fell like jelly. They gave way, and she kneeled in front of the stones. At Nita's cry, she looked around frantically, realizing suddenly that she had lost her friend's hand. She saw her, right there, right near Fiona's grave... Kikue crawled over the ground, stopping next to Nita. She stared at her, only then looking at the graves.

"...Fiona," she whispered, looking back, as her eyes welled with tears. Complications. Complications. Complications...

Murdered...by Annie...

She couldn't stop shaking.

The other Islanders around her were blurry; it was like they were all one person. She shook her head, trying to look at each of them in turn...

Gallen Marcuss

Gallen worked to get a hold of himself, but he was scared. The scales on his hands, the four on his head. Was he becoming an abomination? Was he destined to die, to never see his sister again. He tried to get up feeling sick. He heard the laughter and looked up at the odd looking women.

None of the names meant anything to F, but he had the sense to respect those who knew some of the dead. He made his way to the side and lowered himself onto the ground where he sat silently, waiting.

Then his stomach rumbled. How could he be hungry -for blood- at a time like this? F frowned and put a hand to his belly, valiantly ignoring the feeling.

Tommy Christian

As Tommy tries to comfort poor Gallen, he sees a sight that makes his heart break. There was Alec close by...draped over the tombstone of what he supposed was a friend. His mind went out to the shark-man and he wanted to do anything he could to try and take the hurt away...because damnit, no matter what happened between them, he still considered Alec a friend of his...and it was then Tommy snapped.

"What the ******** is this s**t!?" he yells out to the woods...to everyone...to anyone who'll listen.

"Are you ******** kidding me!? What is this!?" he begins pacing around, yelling at the forest, "Goddamn you, you sonofabitch rat bastards. This is too goddamn far! These were people...humans! No matter what they may have looked like and this is how you present it their memorials to us!? At a goddamn Halloween party!?"

She had made them angry.

She stopped laughing, and held her hand up under her chin ponderously.
The loudest retort was the top-hated Penguin, so she addressed him.
"I am sorry, good sir," she said, in a mock-innocent tone. "But now, you must all understand your place. This is what they were meant for." She pointed at the nearest headstone.
"And, maybe it's what you are meant for, too." She moved the same gloved finger to point at Marshall's face.
"And I laugh at this... because it is funny.

Jamal grumbled to himself as he paused just out of direct eyeshot of a curious observer but hopefully close enough for Billy's sake. He didn't understand what all the wailing was about. People died all the ******** time, didn't they?
