She nodded, deciding on something.
"Alright, this is the last bit I use, until necessity calls for it."
She waved a handle, and on the table appeared a single white candle, the glass which held it entwined with a small, flowered vine of utmost delicacy. It appeared to light itself, and in that quiet candle light, she enjoyed a dinner the likes of which she'd not seen in over a decade, with a person more amazing and kind than she could have wished for.

Kamiss started humming between bites. He stopped, looked up, and realized he could not remember the last time he had hummed. He looked at the candle, not wanting to tarnish it's beauty by speaking about it - he could not find the word's to express it. Like another in the room. Kamiss went back to humming, and soon Raiynoc looked up from his lasagna and started humming too. I am glad for you, little one... Raiynoc's voice echoed in Kamiss' head. Kamiss smiled at the dragon, and then at Chobah. He had never felt so content in his life.

"Hmm, dragonsong. Not something I've heard in an age. Even a dragon's hum is more precious than gold, in my eyes. And you two are just in tune. You know, I can't think of any place I'd rather be right now." It was as if all she'd ever done was smile; she knew nothing else but joy. So recently all had been falling apart for her. Decisions wrong, nothing seemed right. But now, it was so easy to smile, to laugh. And so she did. She laughed, and it sounded right.

A laugh. Kamiss could not remember a time when he heard laughter, real laughter. Humming, laughter, singing--all sounds of great joy. All sounds that had been unheard for far too long. Sounds that would re-enter all of their lives. As this thought crossed Kamiss' mind, he continued eating, feeling somehow stronger than he had before.

"Goodness, why'd you cook so much?" Chobah asked, a smile in her voice. She set down her napkin, leaned back in her chair, and strecthed.
"I'm stuffed. You'd think I've been eating for a month. It's all delicious, but I honestly don't think I could eat another bite."
She picked up her plate, what little food was left on it onto a tray to dump in the woods, for the animals, and set her plate on the counter. She hummed while she worked, an extension of her good feelings.

Kamiss sighed. "Ohhhhhhhh, thank goodness. I was continuing to eat out of courtesy. And I don't know why. Imagine if we had both done that?" Kamiss picked up the remaining food and put it in the icebox, saving it for later. He grabbed the remaining unclean dishes and stood by Chobah, scrubbing them in the sink. He listened only to her humming; all the outside world seemed gone.

She turned to Kamiss abruptly, almost startling him.
"I 'd like to go do somethign. Something we haven't done in a long time. I don't care if it's cold outside or warm - I want to go swimming."
It had been a long time. She remembered the first time they'd been swimming, back when she had still been Arinoa, and no one else. It had been so much fun, and she wanted to have fun again.
"I'll be right back."
She dashed out into the hall, and disappeared around the corner.

Kamiss headed out towards the back, taking off his shirt and rolling up his jeans as he called Raiynoc via whistling. He waded into the water, sending it back and forth with his mind as he waited for Chobah.

Alerting Kamiss with a shout, Chobah dove from a strong branch above his head, splashing down with a watery giggle. (O_o)
The resulting wave wasn't huge, but enough to wash over Kamiss' head. Chobah surfaced, a smile affixed to her face. The dark blue bathing suit she wore had a few patches, and was faded in spots.
"I don't know why I kept it. But I did. I think I attached memories to it, y'know? COuldn't throw it out." The bathing suit was almost like a meory itself, of the time when she had only been Arinoa, no one else.
She sent a cascade of water toward Kamiss, and started giggling again.

Kamiss went down with the wave, going with the flow, and it was hard for him to stop himself from giggling alongside her. He kicked out hard, moving towards the bottom of the lake, and spun quickly like he used to, eyes flashing and a whirlpool forming above him.

"Yes!" Chobah swam with the current, around and around, getting dizzy. Finally, when she could hardly look at anything without puking (lovely imagery...) she stopped, spinning with the tide. She tried to swim against the current, to change the direction, but it was too strong. So she drift to the center, and let herself sink with a smile on her face.

As she neared him, Kamiss stopped the whirlpool's rotation, but as it took a moment to slow down Chobah continued to move towards him. He reached out a hand and grabbed hers, intertwining their fingers with a quick smile.

Chobah smiled in return, eyes alight, and tugged lightly on his hand. She let go, and slipped below the water, keeping her eyes open and on the skies. She gazed intently at the sunlight, dappling the water, making the pond into an under-water kingdom of light. Sounds were distorted, ethereal, beautiful.

Kamiss dived underneath, twisting his body and flipping forward to land on his feet. Though he was near 100 feet underwater, he could see the sun perfectly. Kamiss reflected a moment on how much he loved the clear water of the lake and the secrets it held. Throughout, Kamiss had slowly been rising, so he moved onto his back and pushed himself down with his mind, not wanting to disturb the water any more than he had to. Bubbles of otherwise-precious air flew from his mouth, but he didn't care. Air was not needed, for he was a denizen of all realms. Another gift, yet curse, of the past.

Bubbles rose from her grin, sending bright fish darting away from her. Chobah caught one in her hand, calming it, then let it free, as all things should be. She wished, on times such as now, that she had been born of the merfolk, and could spend her life in this realm.
