Eyes adjusting now to the inky light and driving rain, Kitwana idled for a moment to watch the dancing droplets, the magic of them seemed all the more beautiful for it's lack of familiarity. Realising himself at length, however, the adolescent's gruff exterior returned, and the sight of two tiny retreating forms returned him to his senses. Ingrates.
Turning and making his way back to the shelter, the slave huffed to see Dama fast asleep, before a thought occurred. She would probably be faster now than ever.
Picking the juvenile up by the scruff, Kitwana set off once more into the rain, heading for the huge rock he could make out in the distance.

((It's not a problem, I play computer tag probably worse then most could imagine. ^ ^; ))

-Returning her smile with one of his own, he took up her offer, slipping beneath the soft shelter the hanging branches gave, settling comfortably near the trunk. Cleaning away a little of the mud that clung to his paws he turned his attention back up towards the ivory avian.- "The rain isn't nearly as bad as some may think. While it does grow a little weary on the soul.. the water always brings life full circle. Waiting through a little dreariness now only means thicker, fuller grasses, and plenty of room and food for all once the sun breaks through the clouds again."

-He paused on the thought for a moment, before inspecting her softly once again, ears settling lightly back as he asked curiously.- "Are you waiting the storm out to return to your group.. your family?"

Dama instinctively curled up in a ball, as if to aide Kitwana in his current route. Though she hadn't been carried like that for a while, and was nearly too large for Kitwana to be doing so, she continued to stay fast asleep, the weariness in her body having completely consumed her. Her tail was the only part of her body that drooped, although a few moments later it curled up and was clasped tightly within small paws. Maybe she'd gotten annoyed in her sleep of Kitwana constantly stepping on the end of it? Who knew...

Making a valiant effort not to take a chomp out of his companion for wiggling occasionally, Kitwana struggled on, mind wandering to sights unseen, unknown prides someday accepting him as more than a slave, these daydreams mingled with the more likely reality of being tracked and killed by the great king Makadari. When these thoughts occurred, the shiver that ran down his spine had to be passed off as cold for him to accept them. He was brave, he was fearsome, and he was free. Yes, free, free to avoid all the little buggers like damned cubs, so cheerful and stupid.

((I love Mufasa. So this is just a "squee heart " moment, because I can hear his voice in my head speaking every word.))

Roho nodded and looked out to the rain as the lion spoke.

"Yes, the rains are very nice. The rains bring the grasses, the grasses bring food, shelter... and it brings you food as well?" she tilted her head a bit. She remembered the lions from which she came often ate other animals like field mice and some of the.. native birds. She felt safe with him however.

"This one does not mind the rain. But there is little shelter... where I am not concidered dinner..." when he mentioned family, she fluffed up her feathers and thought...

"Group?... Family?... Great one, I do not understand..." she was confused. One would think she would know what a family was... then she remembered the wise one that had told her about others like herself..

"No, great one. I am awaiting no one. I am meerly waiting out the rain... well, to wait out the rain. I have no destination in mind." at that, she picked up her wings and hopped off the branch, circling around the trunk of the tree, she drifted down to where the lion was, without making a sound. She perched quietly on a root.

"My name is Roho, great one. Might I ask yours?"

Off in dreamland, Dama dreamt for probably the first time in her life. What was she dreaming of? Of a pride of lions who loved her. One that didn't cuff her, or beat her when she didn't do as was told. Who bestowed loving tongue baths, nuzzles and curled around her when she was cold. It was but a dream, but it seemed so real.... In the back of her mind, a tiny part of her, although she didn't realize it, wondered why the blurry lions she saw in her dreams looked gray, like her...and why they called her a strange name....What was it? Masika?

....the dream faded out, and in replacement a nightmare appeared. What flashed beneath Dama's eyelids was one o fthose times when Kitwana and she had displeased Makadari so bad that he'd nearly killed them. The only thing that'd seemed to keep them from being killed was the fact that they seemed to be toys to the King. He'd decided to keep them around longer...She'd been smaller, and so had Kitwana, so it hadn't taken much from the King to hurt them that bad, but it'd been bad enough. She remembered being so very scared....

Gasping, Dama began to struggle in Kitwana's mouth, waking up from her horrid dream. It wasn't that she'd meant to do that, but being lifted like that, without realizing what was going on, Dama thought that her dream was actually reality.... Flailing more, she struggled to get away from the mouth that held her fast, but her energy was no longer there, her struggles nothing but meek wiggling.... It wasn't long before she gave up with a pitiful mew...

Takato winced, or twitched, every time Badiri bumped, or stepped into him. Oye...
"Not far...we're here actually..." He steps into his shelter, glad to be out of the rain and away from the scary lion. Crouching low, he craws underneath, carefully avoiding his head from bumping the rock itself. "You coming?" Takato calls back, hoping that his place was big enough for the two of them. Now his tail was throbbing from being stepped on too many times, and he was wet again. Takato begins to lick himself dry...hopefully the rain would stop by the time he finished sleeping.

Eyes rolling as Dama's struggle began, Kitwana merely gripped her scruff tighter, determined to be held up no longer. He could be at the huge rocks within half an hour without any of her nonsense, and he'd be damned if some kid was going to get him any wetter than he currently was. She'd thank him when they got to where he could find food. She better thank him, for he realised that she'd be dead by now if he hadn't come along. Why hadn't he left her to die? He'd deigned to leave a cub to die, hadn't he? Newborn and frail. No, he told himself. No, that was testing the god's will. He wasn't a murderer. No.

Banishing these thoughts with some struggle, the adolescent focussed once more on the rock formation. It was definitely closer. They could hide out there, it had plenty of room, and he could hunt when the storm had passed.

The hold on her scruff tightened, and therefore Dama's struggles ceased. She was becoming more aware of their surroundings, despite how foreign they looked. It must be Kitwana that had hold of her. The memory of her dreams began to fade from her mind, hopes for the future, and the near future more precisely. Dama turned her head slightly, hoping not to hinder her companion, to look around them. She saw the direction they were headed, towards the large rock formation. She could almost feel the warmth eminating from the rock. Surely shelter in there would be better than if they were to fend for themselves out here...

((Eeeek, I hope I do him justice then. whee I always liked him alot too. I was super thrilled when I got chose to play him, even if it does mean I might not be playing for very long. 3nodding ))

-He followed her with a soft gentleness in his eyes, listening to the words thoughtfully as his tail flicked mildly back and forth, a soft smile touching his face at the mention of dinner. He certainly wasn't a vegitarian of any sort.. and yet, he also didn't think of himself as a blood thristy beast. He killed out of hunger and need, not mere pleasure.. and he certainly tried to go for those whose times had come.. The old.. the weary.- "I can imagine it is probably a bit more of a task to be a small creature, yes? There are not many things that prove a threat for me because of my size.. but I do know something about worrying for predators when it comes to the young ones of the pride."

-As she used her feathery wings to cast her weight lightly beside him, he shifted a little, leaning more onto his side, as it was apparent by now that it would be awhile before the storm lifted.- "The life of a traveler then? You've probably seen many things because of that. I used to travel around a bit more when I was young.. but now that I've got a pride to tend for.. I'm afriad I don't get to do it as much anymore. Ahh, and my name is Mufasa. Thank you kindly for offering your shelter Roho, I know many an animal that wouldn't have allowed such so easily."

Paws moving slower now, the skin and bones adolescent faltered, almost dropping the juvenile gripped in his mouth. The scent of lions peppered the area, powerful smells for powerful creatures. He could tell their den drew near, nearer with every step, yet he needed to reach the huge rock, the shelter. Dama had said they were not like the Blood, the savagery not in their nature, and for both thei sakes did Kitwana hope she was right. He could not come this far only to have his life snatched by a stranger.

Makatas small figure ambulate softly around a rock, she saw several shadows of lions, shaking insanely she sheltered behind a rock, her huge optics peering fearfully from behind it and her ebony fur blending into the shadows.

Squishing in besides Takato, Badiri was pinned between his new companion and the low ceiling of the shelter. But the cub didn't mind. The warmth of another's body reminded him of his mom, and his two sisters.. Badiri imminently fell asleep, dreaming of sweet times that have passed.

Roho tilted her head as a natural reaction when listening to the great lion speak. His voice... there was something about his voice.

"When you are a bird or an antelope, life is quite a challenge. And when you're of my size, you see the world from a whole new perspective. You never know who's friend or foe... but I sense you are friend. And a friend is welcome in this land that is not of my own..."

"The life of a traveler is nice, Mufasa... but I have no where to stay. Because this one is always someone's next lunch or a little one's play toy... Even the ones like me taunted me because of how I look. But I forgive them, even though they chased me away..." she was slowly remembering her home and so called family...

"Where are you from, great one? Do you have.. family waiting?"

Dama glanced once again towards the destination they neared with every step, then glanced down as best she could towards her companion's feet. She could feel the hesitance in Kitwana's step, could almost sense the indecision that crossed his mind. But she had faith in him. She always had. No matter what trouble they'd gotten into, he had always helped her out, regardless of how gruff and complainitory he'd been at the time. Besides, whatever waited for them, she would face with him, for as long as she'd remembered, she'd been by his side through thick and thin. He was bigger and better at most everything than her, and she depended on him. Snaking her tail down from its perch, she extended it towards Kitwana's neck, as if to pat him in reassurance.
