percussion doesn't have a locker at my school (known as Mount Maghetto instead of Mount Miguel). We have a whole room for our stuff, but our director doesn't lock it when the people who play the stuff in there aren't around to play it. he said he was gonna put an order in for badly needed equipment after school, and we also suggested that pit and drumline at least get one locker to share for our mallets and sticks.

Don't hate on the pit! What grade are you in? If you're less than a senior, there's always next year. If you're a senior, tough luck.

Mm... Section leader is not all it's cracked up to be...for some reason, all drummers are innately opinionated. They don't take to being bossed around lightly, and for the most part, they will not STOP PLAYING unless you grab their sticks and put them in your pocket. Sometimes, that doesn't even work. Believe me, I have been on the bottom of some pretty heavy dog piles...with drums on. Ouch! that hurts! As for all you who are auditioning and what not, Good luck! I hope you guys get the positions that you desire!
As for me right now, I am trying to write cadences for a high school drum line I have been put in charge of. It's so weird. These people are all incoming freshmen too!!! So, I get weird questions like, "Should we cresendo by moving down the drum head from the rim?"
"NO!" stressed scream
Sigh... Anyway, I am so bored...

lol
Actually, my high school has a big shoebox for broken sticks and mallets. Marching season usually fills it up pretty fast. People seem to like to do rim shots... sort of a unique way for drummers to ANNOY THE CRAP out of everyone, including each other, more than they normally do. My favorite is when I'm trying to talk and all I hear is...
GAK GAK GAK GAK GAK GAK!!! *CRACK*
"... o.O"
"Vin, I broke my stick."
Gee. I wonder why. Gimme that!
And off it goes to be thrown in the broken stick box. Sheesh.
