"Ebi" is the Japanese word for shrimp, and "senbei" is the Japanese word for crackers. ^^ So "ebisen" is a sort of nickname for "shrimp cracker." I also like those puffed fish and shrimp chips. They are fun to watch get fried. The dried chip is about the size of a paper clip but as soon as it hits the hot oil it explodes out into this palm-sized chip. heart

Oooh.. that sounds like this mexican snack we used to make back in the day... we'd toss these dried pasta looking shapes into oil and they'd puff up into a fried dough state. Dusted with powdered sugar, they were like biting into heaven.
Well, for a little kid, at least.

I love to stand around at faires and watch the mini-donut machines at work. heart One donut vendor was so amused by how enchanting I found the little donuts floating down the river of oil that he gave me a whole bunch of freebies when I finally bought a bag of them. He said that such enthusiasm deserved a reward. *hee*

...I am so craving something deep fried and fattening now. gonk
