It had been an uneventful week for Natsumi. Depression had once again nagged her into keeping to her bed and room... Along with an overwhelming sense of fear. The annoucements over the intercom had scared her... More than anything else. People she knew had turned out to be dangerous. And something in her mind nagged at her... Telling her things. Things she'd never thought of... Paranoid thoughts sucking her into a fear of all the friends she so needed. Thoughts of Alec or Thom trying to kill her... Any of them... Would they simply turn on her?

Those thoughts would be shoved aside as quickly as they entered, with her door locked tight and her nestled tightly in a blanket... She was safe here. As long as she didn't go outside.

And so it was another day... The paranoid Japanese girl was living off of the bugs that wandered into the trap Newton had invented. The daily routine of showering and dressing, only to spend her time picking through her room.. Cleaning this, or simply napping off the hours. She begain to think she was insane, hiding like she had been... But every time she'd open her door to green the day she'd be met with a deep fear, and abruptly shut herself away again.

Maybe it was the animal... Like Kikue hadn't wanted anyone inside her place. It was just "instincts." Yea...

Her mundane task was interupted today... She jolted, goign wide eyed as there was a sudden distinct THUMP. Another. Her hands started to tremble as her eyes moved to her door.. Was someone out there? Was it finally happening.. Someone was after her?
No no... Reason tried to break through her cloud of fear. Downstairs... nothings after you. She felt like she was four again, hiding from whatever monster her brothers had told her was in her closet. Thomas...

She swallowed, hearing a muffled noise. It didn't take more than a second for her mind to slip into disturbing visuals after all that had happend... Was somethgin trying to break in and kill him? She had to do something! Even if the gecko in her mind told her she was crazy and should resort to hiding under the blankets again. But no.. She owed Thomas. She cared about him... If he wound up dead and she hadn't even tried she didn't know what she'd do. She couldn't be responcible for another death...

She grabbed her abandoned breifcase, a useless thing now.. But it seemed like it might be good for beating something over the head with... More screams. It would have to do...

With her battle-breifcase in hand, she moved towards her door, ripping it open and rushing out before the fear could overwhelm her. She hadn't made it two steps outside before her head became dizzy... A few more steps. Go back inside! Her mind yelled at her No! she argued back...Maybe she was insane. Another few steps before Thom's last scream "LET ME OUT!", she barely reconized the words as they came out muffled. She faced the door then, nothing.

Her eyes darted around the area, back instinctivly pressing up against the door of Thomas' duplex. Right, left, up, down... Nothing. Nothing was out here... "Thomas?" She questioned the empty area... Okay, she was insane. Until she felt a light shift of the object behind her... The muffled noise she had heard slowly formed into reconizable words. She turned to face the door, "Thomas?" she called to it... Nothing. Her hand went to the knob, trying to twist it. Locked. She gave it a pound... He was in there... Wasn't he? She had heard him say he wanted out. She had heard him fighting something. She gave a harder knock, "Thomas?!" she asked almost desperatly, leaning against the door to try and hear something... Anything.

She fell into silence, occassionally glancing back around the area when her mind wished her to return to the safety of her duplex. She tried to rationalize the situation, tried to be clear headed and figure something out. Thomas was in there... Trapped. Begging for help. She couldn't do anything though. And he'd stopped talking... Stopped pounding on the door.

Her heart clenched in her chest suddenlly as similarities lined up. her child... The baby and when it had stopped kicking. Stopped communicating with her... Then it had been gone forever. Tears welled up in her eyes as she started pounding on the door, "Thomas?!" she squeaked out... Not again. Nonono... She couldn't lose anyone else. She couldn't let it happen, not this time. Common sense had been lost to the woman, hitting her hands futily on the door only to receive silence...

How long she tried to get ahold of the man inside the duplex was lost to her, and finally she grew too tired to keep trying. After a last, weak knock she withdrew her hands. Staring at the bruised and slightly bloodied skin. Senses and thought started to return... had she really done that long enough to bleed? She took in a shakey breath, backing away from the door. Nothing was happening... Maybe it had just been her imagination? Yes.. that was it... She'd just imagined all that.

Collecting herself... she reached down to retreive the fallen breifcase. She paused, lingering at the door a moment more... What if she was wrong? Maybe she had just been too late. Swallowing, she leaned into the door, "Gomen nasai..." she muttered to the silence, before turning and high-tailing it up her stairs and back to her room. Every bush rustle, blow of the wind, and chirp of a bird was starting to make her edgey...

It wasn't too long after that horrible night rattling experience that something else happend, while Natsumi wasn't sure how many days had passed with the way she was sleeping. Just laying on her bed slipping in and out of napping, and when she was awake she was busy worrying or crying... It made the short time seem like weeks.

But, today she woke up to a loud buzzing, the trap Newton had set up in the kitchen, a few bugs had made their way through whatever holes they could find, swarming into the little concotion of chemicals that was just set to lure them. The insects hadn't had much to eat, so it was no wonder that they were tryign to find the nearest food source, which happend to be in her duplex.

She rubbed her eyes groggily, staring at the little trail, and few bugs floating over the trap warily. That was... Odd. Brows furrowed in confusion at the random swarm... it was good for her, really, just meant she had food for awhile and didn't have to leave her duplex. Still it was weird, but she didn't want to think on it now, just wanted to drift back to dream world for as long as she'd be able.

Natsumi nearly jumped out of her skin as a sudden noise interupted the silence of her duplex, not that it was paticularly loud.. It was more of a soft and nervious rapping. But considering she'd stayed alone for a good two weeks now any noise was enough to startle her.

Timidly, slowly, she pried her head out from under the covers... She'd long ago stopped caring about feeling silly for the action. She had worse things to worry about... Silver eyes locked to the door, a debate stirring up in her head... Should she open it? Was it dangerous? What if it was Thom? Maybe he was okay... Maybe he wasn't locked away in his duplex dead for all she knew? And then... It wouldn't be her fault. Please don't let it be her fault...

More timid and slow actions, she slipped her large feet to the floor, the rest of her followed until she was standing. Then stepping towards the door... Deep breath, don't get scared. The knock hadn't sounded dangerous, and that was one thing working in her visitor's favor...

There were a few clicks of locks before the door slid open, eyes peeking through the small slot she had made to see whom it was. She was met with the sight of a green froggy man... While it wasn't Thom, it was still a pleasent sight. "Newton-san..." she breathed out, quickly opening her door, giving a wave of her hand to urge him inside. "Come in, please." She had to get him inside before something decided to eat him. Another worry that had been lost amongst larger ones was her fear of letting boys in her room.

Newt squatted there befor her clutching something behind his back with his knees brought up on either side of him in front of his elbows. "Ah... ah... g-g-guh-good morning, m-miss ah-" At her look, he quickly did as he was told, catching himself one handed to carry whatever it was as he hopped in side. "Are... are y-you alright?"

"Good morning." She returned politely, shutting the door as he came in. The locks were set back... There. Her body relaxed, feeling safe again. Newton was probably the least threatning person she knew, and the gecko in the back of her mind agreed.

She turned away from the door, smiling now, "Yes. I am alright... Are you?" a few fingers moved up to brush through her thinning hair. She didn't look like herself... much too unkempt, partially do to her sleeping.

The room was a bit scattered as well, though she had very few things to do in it.. a few english and japanese books set next to the bed, a pile of dirty laundry next to the bathroom door, the trash had slowly been filled with little things. once her hair was tamed, her eyes moved around the room, mentally kicking herself and wandering towards the pile of clothes quickly to stuff a few unmentionables to the bottum of the pile. There. "Aa.. The bug... thing you have made. It is working wonderfully." she gestured to the counter top, where the device already had several bugs trapped inside. Various bugs had been leaving Thom's duplex in favor of her trap, leaving her with a wide variety.

"Ah... th-that's... th-that's g-good..." Newt glanced around warily, his inner janitor groaning and yerning to tidy up a bit, but his sence of rebellion kept the little man in the jumper properly caged. "I... ah... I'm n-not... not interupting anything, am I?"

"No, nothing at all..." she turned back around, giving one last glance over her dirty clothing to make sure everythign was hidden... She was down to the reserves of her clothing, atleast judging by the pile of clothes and the fact she wasn't in her usual cute attire. It was a simple pair of sweat pants and a buisness shirt, one of the things that had become obsolete very quickly thanks to the island.

Dispite the general feel to her and the room, one that said I haven't done anythign for eons, her expression was all too bright... While she hadn't wanted to leave her duplex to see anyone she had still become a tad lonely, the company was more than welcome to her. Even if the gecko wasn't as pleased... It had had it's solitude for long enough to settle on a negotiation. So she smiled, and kicked her mannors into gear. "May I get you anything?" her English was sounding improved.

"Er... m-maybe... m-maybe s-some wa-wa-water?" He gave his nervious, buck-toothed smile as he shifted anxiously. The frog-man was actually not in his jumper at all this time, but rather the nice dress shirt and trousers Aubrey had given him as well as the silly lillypad patterned tie to go with them. There were muddy smears across the sleeves and trousers from when he had fallen or mis hopped on his way over, but what was left of his own hair was neatly combed and parted in the middle. He crouched amidst the untidy room, his hands still clutching something hidden behind his back.

Water. Easy enough. She gave a smile and a polite nod, turning away to fetch a glass and fill it with what her guest had asked for, while mentally musing over why he was so dressed up. The one area that had been kept up with rather well was the kitchen. What few dishes she used she would automatically clean and return. Plunk, plunk. She added icecubes into the glass as a final touch. "Douzo." She held the glass out to him, blinking as her own voice reached back to her. No, that wasn't right. "Aa... Here." Yes, that was better. She waited for him to take the glass before smiling again, feeling the need to break the silence that hadn't arrived just yet. "How have you been?" Easy conversation. And she hadn't seen him in awhile, had she? How long had it been now...?

Newt shifted the thing in his hand so he could take the glass, wetting his lips with his sticky tongue anxiously, "Thank you... I've... ah... b-been well..." Almost eaten on several occasions, but these days, what else was new? "And... and y-you?" awkward conversation. He hated conversation. He swallowed, not waiting for an answer befor he suddenly offered the little package forward towards her, "I...I b-brought you a pruh-present!"

"I.." she was abruptly cut off with the jutting forward of a little package, giving the most subtle jumps to the sudden movement. Really something only she would have noticed, but she couldn't stop her mind from scolding her for being so edgy. Especially since the attacking object had only been a present. "A present?" she repeated, eyeing the mystery in Newton's hand a moment before taking it delicately. It wasn't a holiday was it? She didn't think... but maybe... she hadn't really been keeping track of time. She rolled it over once in her hand, inspecting it with a small look of suprise. "I did not get you anything, though..." She looked back to him, voice holding a ring of guilt, while she looked to see his reaction to it to see just how bad she should feel about that small detail.

The package was a large banana leaf wrapped around something that slid about inside, bound with a bit of hand-wound string he had undoubtably made himself. "It's alright!" he gave a meek but encouraging smile, "O-o-open it!"

Goodness, he always went through so much trouble for her... She'd have to do something in return, she decided. It was only right, afterall... She gave a tiny nod as he encouraged her to open it. Getting that odd child-like joy at the thought of a gift, she was still rather young at heart, and what young girl didn't like getting presents? "Thankyou." She noted, as she carefully undid the string, the rest of the package opening up without the bounds to hold it.

Inside was the blue-stoned necklace Newt had been hoarding since he had gotten it from Maryke, and the frog-man seemed to swell up with anticipation for her reaction. Would she like it? Would she not like it? Would she demand to know where he got it? Would she be angry? Would she call him stupid for trying to woo her? Would she give him a kiss? His throat inflated befor he could stop it, his eyes trembling, "KrrrKIT! Ah.... d-do... do you l-like it?"
