He looked up to see his aunt looking expectantly at him. "Yes... I suppose break is over..." he said with a small hiccup of a laugh. He tucked some stray hair behind his ear, frowning as it slipped out again and into his face. He sighed and gave it up as a bad job and returned to the woman.
"Let's hear your flute skills, then, shall we? You can use this one." She handed him one carfully and he took it. It was perfectly pollished and cleaned, but he looked down at it with a small frown.
"Mum talks too much..." he mumbled. He took it up and began to play. He was good, but seemed to be lacking something. He sighed after finishing the song and handed the flute back.

"What happened? You seemed dissapointed..." Aiko questioned curiously.
"Was it the instrument?" Chidori inquired.

He shook his head, not really feeling like answering. "I just... don't like flutes..." he said finally, his expression looking extremely unhappy.

"Oh..." She nodded, then turned away, a bit uncomfortable. Her head hurt again and she sat down.
Aiko sighed. "It's 8:30 you know. Can I walk you home? I mean It's dark out..." He blushed a bit considering his friend was technically an adult now, and older than him anyway so the offer was a bit ironic.

"Sure..." he said softly. He handed the flute back to his aunt. "Same time tomorrow, right?" he asked and she nodded. He walkd out of the shop slowly sighing. His head hurt from the sudden meories flooding through his mind. It was only an instrament...

"So, why don't you like the flute... If you don't mind my asking..." Aiko asked after a moment when they were walking down the street together, a bit of a ways from the music store.

He shrugged. He didn't like talking about it, but decided to tell some of the truth. "Guilt." He looked away from the other. "I killed a man who played flute."

Aiko stopped dead and stared at him with shock. "You... what? Why? What happened? Did he do something to you?" He placed his hands over his mouth to shut himself up. "I mean, it's ok you don't have to tell me. I'm butting in to your personal life..." He looked away.

He looked at the other, frowning slightly. Finally he took one of Aiko's hands in his own and placed it on the space where his ears should have been, if he had still had them.

Aiko blushed and looked up at him questioningly. "Did he take your ears then...?" He whispered, his own ears drooping sadly.

He nodded. "I was twelve..." he said softly, shuddering at the memory. The man had been one of his sister's friends. He had looked after Yuki for a while - whenever no one was home or when everyone was too busy to pay attention to him.

"T-twelve?" Aoki looked shocked and hugged him suddenly. "I can't believe someone could do such a thing." He whispered. "I'm sorry. I had thought before.. well... I'm sorry. It must have been hard on you."

"He had gone out with friends and gotten drunk before hand," he said in a resigned way. "He was...seventeen... I think." He looked exceedingly unhappy at having to speak on this subject, and a little surprise by the other's embrace. But at least he hadn't said that terrible word yet. 'Rape.'
