Oliver jumped and whirled around, fighting back a wave of unspecified guilt as he realized it was the shy trainee addressing him. His emotions were a mess. "A-ah, n-no, I'm okay," he stammered, forcing a smile. But at that moment something caught his eye in the water. Someone had started to slow down on their swim over, and then disappeared entirely. "Shoot, uh, one sec," Oliver squeaked, and dashed back into the water. Somehow he still had the energy to make it out to where Zeke was caught up in shimmery tendrils of ocean, and dove down to kick at the barely visible hands that were dragging the other man down. The water swirled and for a moment they let go, freeing Zeke to swim to shore.

Chris followed Oliver out, though he didn't leap back into the waves quite yet. Instead he waited in the waist high shallows until both he and Zeke were close and offered hands out for a step up into walkable terrain. "C'mon.. Land time.."

Seren saw some one she did not know who the man having trouble with the waves was, but she knew she wasn't going to let anyone drown given the chance. She waded out, and swum to the unknown person, before pulling him up, and towards the shore. It was more difficult then she'd expected, never having had to rescue some one from drowning before, but in the end, she managed to help the other get to shore. "Hey... You... ok there?"

Someone pulled Jordan up and towards the surface, and the constrictions on his arm and leg loosened and then snapped away. He broke the surface and gasped for air, and focused on getting to shore with the help of the woman who'd broken him free of whatever was pulling him down. "I'm okay," he answered. "Thanks for the help. Didn't feel like drowning today." He took a couple more deep breaths, and offered his hand for a handshake. "I'm Jordan."

He was going for his dagger when someone appeared from above and kicked at the hands that were trying to drag him down, making them loosen. It was enough. Zeke gave a power kick of his legs to pull himself free and rushed straight for the surface, gasping in a painful lung full of air when he reached it, and only waited long enough to make sure the other hunter had made it up again as well before swimming for the shore. A hand appeared in front of him as he reached the shallows, but Zeke was mostly fine now that he could breath again, and he offered the helpful trainee and grateful smile and a pat on the arm as he passed him. "Thanks, I'm good. Help the other guy." He'd wait at the edge of the beach just long enough to make sure Oliver had also made it out okay, to offer a grateful wave to the shorter man, before moving on. Where was Ever, or Cee? He wanted to find them before worrying about anyone or anything else, and set off along the beach on the hunt for the both of them. One, at least, was easy enough to spot, and he picked his way around other hunters to reach him.

Seren smiled, and shook his hand. "Seren. A pleasure to meet you... Well, as much of a pleasure as it can be given the circumstances." She stepped back, glad he was ok. "So... Any clue what I can expect on this island...? I've never been here before. Honestly, haven't been..." She gestured vaguely towards the main island. "Here all that long, so I'm still figuring this nonsense out." Inside she was battling her gut, and that damned grief. WHY was this still going on? She wasn't grieving for anything at the moment, except maybe for the fact that this whole business had her minimal equilibrium way off.

He still didn't know what she was saying but could put enough together based on context clues. His arms stretched out above his head before he forced himself to sit up and pull off the goggles that were quickly discarded behind him.
There were spots on his glasses but he couldn't even dry them.
Stupid wet clothes.
Maybe he'd find something on the island to clean them off with. For now, sitting on this beach with his new friend was good.
"Whatever you wanna teach me dollface."
Green followed her gaze and he hummed in agreement. "Sure feels like it."

Taking d2eeo breathes yet looking ill, Melvin moved over to Kim. Being on the island long wasn't good for anyone here.
"Kim, you said you were at the tree last with the artifact. Let's go there and look. We can't be on this island long." He had already seen a few tired hunters throwing up on the shore. It was a good thing he had been so nervous about the mission that he had skipped breakfast.
He moved with her to the Creation tree to look.

Kim, who seemed to be one of the only ones not being overwhelmed by the tree's power stepped to it, She smiled a little and knelt down. "Hi there, remember me? I brought you something, but it seemed I shouldn't have. Atlantis isn't exactly pleased with me giving up what belonged to it, so.. could I get it back?" She chewed her lip. "I know it is wrong of me, but I don't want the whole island suffering for my actions." The young Sun hunter knelt down in front of the legacy, putting one hand on the bark of the tree. "For the sake of all of us, we need to return the artifact.. so if you are willing.." She had to admit saying this in front of so many felt weird, but she wanted to be polite too.

Silence.
And then Kim raised her eyes to gaze at Melvin, green and glowing and if there was no malevolence, there was no kindness either.
"But it's mine now. Give them something else. This is mine and it is my friend and I love it," Kim spoke in a voice not her own, petulant and childish, its vibrations palpable against Melvin's skin. "I'll take this too. Are you giving this to me too? It's my..." Kim cocked her head and paused before smiling. "It is my birthday today."
Blood began dripping from Kim's nose.

He looked over with quick dawning horror at what was happening. It was a child and no doubt didn't understand or care to understand how it was desteoying Kim's body. How weak was her shield after the fight? What did expisure of this kind to a legacy do even?!
Birthday. Gift.
His mind was frantic. He wanted Kim? He wanted that artifact from atlantis. What did little kids do and want?!
"She isnt a very good gift....being too new...bu-but I have a much better artifact. We can trade? I'll give you mine if you give me yours? A switch. For something better for your birthday. Yours is....kinda breaking." He looked at the blood and felt sicker. Felt guiltier. It was his fault they died. She died. Kim here. Taking them to Atlantis. Not watching her more closely. Not acting sooner.
"I'm stronger than her too. Trade? And Happy Birthday." He pulled out his sash.

And so it was that Kim finally got to know how one of the plushies she made felt. She was moving around without her actually doing anything.. and whoa.. pretty close there Melvin. Nope couldn't say anything either. Looked like whatever had taken her was...
Oh it was the Legacy. Hnn, well she had foolishly agreed that she belonged to it with she gave it the item. Looks like it took it literally. Great... things were just getting weirder and weirder.

She paused again, her body momentarily limp, losing all signs of animation. And then she's looking around and then back at Melvin. "What is it?" Her glowing eyes widen, "Can I see?" Traces of light began to snake underneath her skin like veins. Vines, maybe. Foam slipped down one corner of her mouth.

Seren had been focused on Jordan, but she heard Melvin and Kim, and she turned to look... And an expression of horror crossed her face. What was happening to her friend? She took a step back, towards the water, then stumbled towards where Melvin and Kim where, trying not to panic.
She'd never seen anything like this before. She was terrified. She had so few friends, the idea of losing one was horrible.
