Of course the whole affair had ended in a mess. Anyone who expected otherwise was an idiot. Grenades admittedly were a surprise.

Sawyer found herself sprawled across the pavement, head spinning and her vision blurred. A dull throb radiated through her entire back. It felt almost like pain, but it was too removed for that. Instead it felt like wave of increasing warmth, uncomfortable but not overwhelming. In an effort to prop herself up off the ground, Sawyer moved her hands beneath her.

Wait. Scratch the "not overwhelming" bit.

Searing pain. Sawyer let out a choked back a scream, as tears beaded around her eyes. Something in her shoulder. It was hard to tell. Just the casual attempt to move her arm had nearly paralysed her. It was enough to make her want to curl up and never move again. But that would be inexcuseable.

Sawyer gave herself a moment. Feel the pain. Appreciate it. Accept it. Now do something about it. Flipping onto her uninjured side, Sawyer sat up. Gingerly, she felt around her arm. Even a gentle touch sent spasms of pain through her whole body. She frowned. Probably dislocated. Not broken though at least. That was good news. She had broken enough bones thanks to her reckless lifestyle already (no wonder Renita thought she was accident prone).

"Deep breaths. Come on," Sawyer coached herself. She attempted to distracted her thoughts from the hand that was creeping near her shoulder. "One, two, and...!" She screamed. There was a loud crack as she forced the bone back into place. Tears openly streamed down her face. She could not keep from trembling. By large though, she felt better.

That was not to say the pain had gone away—if anything it only hurt worse—but she had fixed herself, and could resume her life as mostly normal. Her arm however would be useless for a while long. Getting to her feet, Sawyer picked up a piece of debris blown clear from the grenade blast: a long blank with a nail in the end. Next time someone thought about pitching grenades at her, she was going to nail them. Literally.

Stumbling through the fire and wreckage, Sawyer searched for her peers. She may not have cared for them (and they certainly did not care for her, with the exception of Renita) but they were her possessions, and she would be damned if she did not look after them. Partway through the rubble, Sawyer tripped over an unyielding lump on the road. A person covered in ash and debris.

"Hey, do you think you could go die some place a little more convenient?" She snapped, giving the body a nudge. Then she paused. Actually, this particular sack of meat looked somewhat familiar.

"Hey Lemming, is that you?" Offering him a manic grin that he could not see, Sawyer beamed down at her neighbour.

Stupid stupid stupid.

Oooooooh god. He could just hear Devlyn shrieking at him in his mind. Going on about how much of a dumb a** he was. Things had exploded and before Judas could even register the chaos, his ears filled with a sickening crunch while he simultaneously felt a blinding, burning pain in his arm. The brunette screamed scrambling for cover as he clutched his arm to his body.

It had all happened so fast after that. Panic began to set in and Judas didn't move from his little hiding spot till things seemed to calm down and talks of white flags and truces began to surface. He supposed, in an ironic twist, that he should be glad it was just a shoulder. He could have ended up with a broken leg, or worse. But with a dislocated arm, it severely hindered what he could do. He hoped someone would be able to set it fairly quickly for him.
