Entry: Euria scrunched up her nose at the assignment, tapping her pencil against her lips as she stared down at the paper. Her first memory? It sounded easy, but she was honestly having a lot of difficulty in trying to drudge one up from the depths of her mind. Only one thing was immediately clear to her: her first memory would obviously include her brothers in some way.
But beyond that? She had no idea; it was hard trying to pull up a specific event. Shrugging her shoulders, she set the point of her pencil to her paper and just started writing, letting whatever popped into her mind flow onto the page.
My first memory is of playing with my brothers! There are two of them, Honani and Malik, and I love them very much. I love my dad too.
She was already going a little off topic. Reining herself in from bragging too much about her family members, Euria stuck her tongue out of the corner of her mouth and continued on.
I remember waaaaaaaaay back when we were littler than we are now, we played a game of tag! And my brother, Malik, was really fast! He was it, so Nani and I had to run away. We split up, and Malik was right behind me! I ran to a tree and tried to climb it, but my tail was too long. Even though I got halfway up, Malik still caught me by the tail! Next time I will be more careful and wrap it around myself or something. I don't like losing games but because it was against my brother, it's okay. Next time I'll win for sure though!
Done! Leaping up, Euria scampered over to hand her work, flapping the paper at her teacher with both hands. "Here you go!"

Prompt Answer: If he could be a different race... what would he be..? Shaxio stared at his blank page, considering the possibilities... what would he want to be?
If I had to choose, I think I would choose to be a Nixie. I would like the ability to dive for such long periods of time... Currently I can't really swim as it is - which prevents me from doing many things that I want to do. Hooves and a fluffy tail don't make for good swimming...
I suppose the down side to being a Nixie would be that I could probably not go to the desert to study the rare tortoises there, so I'm not really sure it's a beneficial trade-off. Perhaps I'm better off staying the hybrid that I am. There isn't really anything about me that I'd change immediately if given the chance, anyway.

Entry: His very first memory? Korvau wiggled in his seat, legs kicking as he tried to think about his very first memory ever. Did he have one? He didn't really retain things for very long... No, wait, he did remember!
My first memory is when I came to the aka--acadama--scool. It was really sunny and there were a lot of people around and I remember I wanted to play too but they wudn't let me go yet. But then my mommy and daddy said they wud be back later exsept they didn't come back so now I live here! I have a lot of friends here so it's ok. Maybe they will come back sometime and then I can take my friends to MY house like they take me to their house but if they don't I gess that is ok too.
There! Korvau very carefully (though still managing to make it barely legible) wrote his name at the top of the page, and then waved it in the air for Lyra to take it.

Entry: Cybelle didn't like writing about his first memory it was so lame, but it was the assignment. He sighed and wrote "Once upon a time I was sitting on my bed, when suddenly I heard my mom yell at my dad "You idiot that is not the right stone for this project!!" Then I heard my father yell back "Yes it is you wench" Then my mother shrieked back "Hush male I am far smarter than you and the ruby will work far better for this enchanted necklace!!" Then I heard my father huff "Fine have it your way." Then things grew quiet again and I went back to sleep, just another night in my house.
Entry: Natsumi smiled as she thought of her first memory, she wrote "My first memory is hearing a voice, I heard my daddie's voice calling me to wake up, then I kinda remember blurry imagines of his face and of Miss Aqua glow's face, my dad has told me a lot about her, my poor clear first memory is of my first day of dance class, I walked into the classroom and I remember seeing the mirror wall and the dance bar. Then this show off girl started to put the other students down and complimented my outfit." Natsumi huffed "I hope she learns her lesson and stops treating people like that."

Monday: Today I had Math class. It was okay... My scores are still high so that will please my parents when I send them home. I also saw Fakir causing a scene around lunch time but I didn't want to get involved so I just... went the other way...
Tuesday: Fakir noticed that I fled yesterday. He was very distraught. I guess I'll have to... not... do that in the future... even though I don't like big groups... I got a less than desired score on one of my tests. That's going to be hard to explain...
Wednesday: Kindle and I had lunch outside! She's really nice... Though sometimes I have a hard time hearing her when she talks. Fakir came and make a ruckus, as usual. He's really nice but sometimes I wish he'd quiet down a little bit...
Thursday: I didn't pass my last math assignment. That's... the first time... I don't know how I'm going to explain this?? I shouldn't have let Fakir talk me into singing practice...
Friday: I got a letter from home today. They're very a little disappointed. How come they only write when they're upset...?
Saturday: Fakir wanted to see a movie, so he took me and Kindle out with him. It was nice! But I should have used that time to study...
Sunday: Today is supposed to be my break day, but I spent most of it studying. Kindle was a little disappointed I think... but I really have to pass that test! What if they tell me I have to come home...? I... I like it here.

Prompt Answer: Cherubi stared down at the paper, face scrunching. What kind of question was this? She liked being a Chimera, so what else could she want? She was content with being the race she was, and she never considered the "other side". Well.... might as well start considering.
'If I had to make a choice, I'd decide to be a Fallen. I can't lose the ability to fly. I love it too much, even though I don't fly very often. However, honestly, I'd rather stay a Chimera. I like who I am and my culture. Mostly. I wouldn't give it up no matter what was offered. This is me, and me is fabulous is just fine.
I also wouldn't mind being a hybrid, as long as I kept my wings! Maybe a Geist hybrid. I always loved the little tendrils! Or even an Imp! I could stay warm in winter, then! Really, there's so many options, Miss Ava! Or even a Fey might be cool, I always did enjoy their culture.
All in all, I'm quite happy being myself, or at least mostly myself.'
Signing the paper and sliding it onto Lyra's desk, Cherubi flapped her wings in a final celebration in finishing her work before wiggling out the door.

Why would she want to be anything other than a demon? That was such a silly thing to ask. Why would anyone in their right mind want to be something other than what they already are?
Maybe she could just fake this assignment. Hexen felt indifferent towards the project anyways, so maybe this could be her one exception.
I guess if I had to choose a race I'd rather be, I'd go with the Nixie. I like their frawn ears. They're quite cute, I guess. And they also have tails? I don't know, I think I'd just like being aquatic I suppose. Plus that whole thing that went down with the Nixie and the Grimm when they first showed up. It didn't really have anything to do with me so I was kind of on the outskirts for that, but man. Had I been a Nixie or a Grimm I could have like. Actually seen what happened. Been a part of it. It probably would have made for a good story, I think. Maybe it could have inspired something for a new book.
In truth though, I wouldn't change my race. I like being a demon. I'm proud to be a demon, and I think I am one of the few people out there that can say with confidence I'm content the way I am, mutation and all.
Entry: First memory huh? Miku sat for a long time not writing anything then he picked up his pencil and wrote.
My first memory, well it was just another day at the orphanage, but this day they were pairing us up with our care takers who would be accompanying us to the academy. I remembered that I didn't like mine, she smelled of butterscotch and mint. She tried to take my hand but I didn't want her to, going to school seemed scary to me and I wasn't so sure I was ready ya kno? Then she gave me a candy, and I began to understand why she smelled like that. She is a very nice lady and I like her a lot, but I know she's going to leave soon... and that's going to suck.

Wow. Castus actually showed up for class? He had a breath mint in his mouth to cover up the stink of alcohol on his breath. At least this class had an easy assignment that didn't take much effort on his part. Maybe somehow Lyra knew that Castus would be coming to this one, and so chose a far easier assignment so that he wouldn't struggle as much. Then again, nobody was that nice, especially Lyra.
I'd be a Chimera, hands down. They're the strongest fliers our world has so far. They're agile and strong, and can only with I was born with such strong wings. It's frustrating trying to overcome how little stamina as a race us Fallen have. It's been my biggest challenge that I've had to face --- besides school. I'm constantly going up against and competing with Chimeras in order to push myself harder and stronger and faster. My hope is to one day be as good of a flier as any ol' Chimera. I know I'm good now, but I wanna be there with the best of 'em! You can bet that I'll be there one day, doing what I do best and conquering them all.

Well he supposed that his answer would be pretty boring. He would stay a chimera. After all he loved flying and he enjoyed fire magic. However it was the easy and cheap answer so what race would he be if he didn’t allow himself to pick Chimera?
It took a while to figure this question out, and while my answer may be a little boring I would have to choose Fallen. I love flying so that already limits my choices. Sure I suppose I could pick fey but they tend to be a little bit more and with such a big weakness through their flower, it would be disastrous with my … job. Personally I love being a Chimera and would probably remain the same if given a choice but I decided that was an even more boring answer. Fallen are polite, reserved and rather easy to get along with. Well most of them, and they often have really gorgeous wing patterns. I also like their culture and I find it kind of romantic that they give a piece of themselves to the one that means the most to them. So yes if I couldn’t be a Chimera I would definitely be a fallen.
Hmm he also wondered if being a fallen would make people suspect him even less than they already did. Ah well it wasn’t like he was ever going to know the answer. Finishing up the assignment he placed it on Lyra’s desk.

Prompt Answer: Blythe's feet clacked happily against them floor as they skipped up to Lyra. They had been more than happy to write about their week as they had a pretty good time this week. Grinning at Lyra, he confidently handed it over. "Is it okay that I continue to write in a journal? I really enjoyed documenting how I spent my time this week!" After Lyra confirmed they could very well keep a personal journal if they so wished, he almost jumped in excitement. He nodded vigorously back, all smiles, as he gave a thumbs up. "I will do that! Thank you, Miss Lyra!"
Monday: I traveled to the Academy and met lots of people for the first time! I also went on a date with Eve. I had never been to speed-dating. It was fun!
Tuesday: I talked to Valentein about their day. They were not happy I went to the wrong event. That's okay, because I made friends anyway! Also, Valentein says that Eve is my girlfriend! Awesome!!!
Wednesday: Finally got my new phone working and texted Eve for a long while. It was nice talking to her again. I can't wait to see her on Friday for our first official date!
Thursday: I went out to buy beef for cooking with Eve tomorrow. We are going to make beef empanadas! It sounds yummy and I'm really excited!
Friday: I went to Eve's dorm and we cooked food and it was pretty great! We talked for hours and it was really nice. I wanted to ask her if I could kiss her but I got what Valentein calls "flutterbugs" and ended up only holding her hand. It was still really nice!
Saturday: We are surprising Valentein with a trip to the THEME PARK! I've never been to one but I heard they are a lot of fun. Mother said they were, so that must be true! I hope Valentein has lots of fun!
Sunday: I think I had so much fun yesterday that I was really tired the next day. I slept in and missed a call from Valentein. When I went to check on them in their dorm, they refused to let me in and told me to leave. Valentein is so confusing sometimes. Maybe they are sick! I will have to bring them soup later like mother makes. That will surely cheer them up!
Emma had spent quite a long time trying to find a memory that they felt was worth writing about. They had very little "first" memories that weren't sad or embarrassing, and they didn't want to tell Ms. Lyra anything they thought was personal. So, when it came down to finally writing something down, Emma chose something a little... Fuzzy.
My First Memory by Emma
Cake, cake was everywhere. I apparently really liked cake when I was a baby, or maybe I thought frosting was paint, I don't know. The frosting was a pretty purple, kind of like my hair, and it had flowers. I think the flowers were yellow, green, and red? Or, maybe they were blue and orange? ... I didn't think this would be so hard to remember, it only happened a few years ago!
Uh, I think there were people there, too. Two or three. There was a really tall person who kept taking pictures and a long haired person with big lips who kissed my forehead a lot. ... You know, maybe there were more people because the long haired person changed clothes at some point and the tall guy got really really tiny. ... Or maybe that was another baby. Probably. This stuff is all really fuzzy and weird.
Something tells me that it was probably my birthday when this happened, or it was someone else's birthday. However, I don't know who else it would be. I can't remember anything else from that time except really blurry faces. I'm sorry if this isn't what you wanted, Ms. Lyra."

Autumn found herself scrunching up her face while she tried to think of her first memory. It wasn't something she'd ever been asked to do before and hadn't ever considered doing before... Which she supposed was what made it difficult to do. She slumped in her chair, blew the hair out of her face, and stared the paper down.
My first memory is playing in the leaves when I was a little kid. I really liked to jump in giant piles and throw them around in the air. I used to imagine that they were butterflies that transformed into leaves if you let them touch the ground, so I would blow on them to keep them up in the air so they could fly away. It was fun playing pretend like that!
I remember that my daddy was always worried that I'd get a cold if I stayed outside too long playing in them, so he'd make me wear this really poofy coat that I didn't like. I wore it though because my other daddy told me so and he was always really tired and it made me sad, so I listened. Oh, and after I played in the leaves, I would go inside and have hot cocoa and brownies with them! I liked the brownies with nuts in them the best because they crunched like the leaves outside!

T'kani tapped the pencil against her cheek, staring at the question. It was a simple question, but then there was the why part that made it trickier. Easy enough to say "I want to be a Bapho!", but why?
If I could choose another race, I would consider being a Naga. The perk would of course be being surrounded by other cute snake girls, but I don't know if I'd appreciate the skin shedding aspect.
It also pains me to think of how trying it must be for them right now; the curtain lifted and an entire world out there that has simply moved on and forgotten about their race.
On the other hand, they are getting assistance to catch up with the rest of the Below again, and it must be the opportunity of a lifetime for their freshlings to grow up in such a vibrant and fast-changing era. The next few generations will forever change their entire race, for better or worse.
