Jaster's eyes fell to floor with a quick prayer for her peace when he heard the news. He thought back to his family, and how after his trainer was killed, he had tried to go home. He found pain. His father, sisters, and mother slaughtered. He had seeked vengance, but through his travels had changed his mind. He sought not vengance. He sought...redemption. He did not need to avenge their deaths. He needed to console himself. He failed them all. And this was an opportunity to do just that. He would not seek vengance on behalf of this man. But he would seek redemption. If he was merely the handkerchief to wipe this poor soul's tears dry, so be it. But one way or another, Larknam would repent for his sins, by the cold steel of Jaster's blade. Jaster said no words, but looked solemnly at Kernyel as if to say, "You need not go this course alone. Say the word, and my skills are by your side."
Jaster looked up at Sturaz and grinned weakly. He said, "I believe we all know what it is like to lose a loved one." Jaster knew he would be the only one to understand what he said next, but he said it anyways. "Redemption will be found."

Sturaz looked up and choked back his crying for a moment, somewhat taken aback by any of the others' interest. He nodded at Alhana "he--I never seen 'im m'self--But the word is that 'e has hair black 's night and a star-shaped scar o'er his left cheek. They say 'e's a big man." With this statement he looked down self-consciously, "About my size... And he's said t' carry a wick'd scythe. I lost him in the mountains just north, beyond the plains." His countenance was clearing now, he was regaining control of his emotions. He still held a somewhat awestruck tinge to his features, as if unsure of whether he should believe that someone might bring justice (or vengeance; he didn't care) to the man who had robbed him of the first love he had ever known.
Kernyel nodded decisively to herself and gave him one more big hug before disengaging herself. "Well, my friend, I am no assassin, but i will do my best to see that justice is done for Kealie. No one will go unpunished for snuffing out such a brilliant and gentle flame." She rose to go and get a cup of tea for him, leaving him alone with his thoughts while she contemplated the best way to go about reaping vengeance.
She brought the tea back to him, complete with some of her own store of herbs. "here, Sturaz, this will calm you and give you rest." He eyed it warily, but took it and drank the whole thing. It was only a matter of minutes before she had him herded off to bed with a promise of cleaning up for him and an admonishment that he'd not been taking well enough care of himself. When she closed the curtains around his pallet, she returned to her companions' watchful eyes and began to tidy up. She was grateful, but unsure how to approach the topic again; she felt self-conscious.
"Um...Jaster...I, ah...Thank you" She said haltingly. Taking a deep breath, she began, "Thank you for your support. I would be more than thankful for your sword and your company in my efforts to hunt down Larknam." She turned to Alhana to address her, "Do you think it is possible that justice has already been paid on this man?" She half hoped it had and half hoped it hadn't... Reguardless, she had been determined to head north before taking refuge with Sturaz for the day, and she would continue on her way there, whether the man was dead or not.

"Who knows? If its only been a few months, most likely not. It also doesn't help that most of the enchantments I laid upon my son will also not allow me to see what he's seeing or scry him. On the other hand, I do know that he's in an ugly fight with a group of bandits, and I can tell that he's not liking killing other human beings... if you could call him human. So, no. I can't tell you, and he wasn't around when we were guiding Teir." Alhana said quietly. "Of course, where he is only a short flight for me, and if you had some will, I could fly you there, then we can find out for sure, Kernyel."
"All in all, Kernyel, Jaster, the choice is yours."

Jaster smirked a little and said, "All in all, milady, I don't fancy myself much of a decision maker. On the battlefield I can become quite the tactician, and my fast acting has saved more than one man's life. But here, I believe the choice is up to Kernyel." He paused, then added, "I only stated that I'd fight by your sides, miladies. Where we go and what we fight, however, is up to you."
Jaster looked somewhat expectantly at Kernyel, as if to ask her what the course of action was. It was true. He was no decision maker, unless it was in battle. This sort of stuff he left to kings and princes.

Kernyel nodded slowly. "Alhana, that sounds like the best option we've got." She started to gather her things and make ready for her departure. "Shall we rest first and leave in the morning, or leave now?" She was not tired, but she didn't want her companions to come upon a possible battle without being rested. She looked at them for a moment and turned to give each a chance to think about it while she wrote a hasty note to leave on the table for Sturaz. She was already getting a giddy feeling of anticipation at the prospects of traveling with Alhana...she'd never been in the air before...

"Indeed it is, Kernyel. I'm ready to leave immediately, and rest I can always cure with a spell. So, you want to leave now? You can."

That settled it; they would leave immediately. She finished her letter with a flourish and sealed it, leaving it on his table next to a bag of herbs she'd left for him to help him sleep. One single tear escaped as she looked around his home. It wasn't quite as warm as it had been just a few hours before. As it hit the table, it clinked solidly and she looked down startled. There before her lay a blue-green gem that glowed a soft, warm yellow. She stared for a moment before shaking her head and gathering her things. She'd have to puzzle that one out later...
She took up her large staff with an aura of purpose and nodded to the door as she made her way outside, anxious to be off. She finally felt focused. At least now she had a purpose, not just a vague notion of traveling northward...
As she stepped outside and gazed up at the now-clear night sky, she took a deep breath and waited for the others. Her mood was too confused to name, but vengeance was strong within her.
((And with this, i will wait for our esteemed Auren to lead us into the 'road to domachi' thread))

Alhana nodded. She walked outside, and proceeded to quite aways from the burrow. She looked around, made sure her wing-span wouldn't snag on the trees or other such annoyance, and proceeded to shift into her Draconic form... What used to be a Dragon of Light, except with... addititons so to speak. Instead of pure-gold skills, there were many black highlights, and two wicked horns that sprouted right in front of her ear fins curved to either side of her reptillian face. Other additons included spikes on the tail along with a number of them running down her spine. Wicked claws where there were none before on her feet were added on as well.
"I'm sorry if this form disturbs, either of you, but this is what I have been forced to change to. The spines on my back should give you adequete hand holds and a seat along my back. Do be careful, don't sit around my rear legs, but right before my wings should do fine." She said with a voice many times more powerful then the delicate elven lady she pretended to be.

"Right, then," Jaster responded. He offered a hand to assist Kernyel to a seat on Alhana's back, then with one foothold and a leap he managed to squeeze himself between two of her spines. He hoped his sword, even sheathed, wouldn't poke into her back too much.
With no need to worry about guiding this mount, as he would a horse, Jaster unlatched his crossbow from his side and set a bolt in it. Just in case, he was more than ready to plant the bolt into Larknam's forehead. He thought back on what he said, and repeated it once more to himself. Redemption will be found.

After walking for quite sometime, Megara found herself among this... this place. She was raised as nothing more than a small townsperson; with a gift. She was naive to the vast world around her, and all she had been doing for the past few days was walk. Currently, she was in the form of a fox-like creature. "Where am i?" She asked herself, which only came out as the sounds a fox would make. She spotted no one in sight, and she was getting quite hungry. And with that, she paced on, searching for someone, anyone, anything.
