Cypher explained, rather happy that this already fit according to Scarlett's plans. "Heh, perfect. It's like I'm destined t' go there." She commented with a grin. Now that they were done scanning the two statues, Scarlett just needed to wait for Mako and Poseidon to finish training and find her. When that happened, she could challenge the gym leader and then go investigate the Celestic Ruins. Until then, Scarlett plopped down on the ground against the statue of Dialga, pulling out a small case from her bag and unclipping it. Inside was a small obsidian violin with a red chin rest, which she nestled underneath her neck. She plucked the strings of the instrument thoughtfully, listening to the vibrations and slowly tuned it by ear. It didn't take long before she was satisfied with the sound, as she kept it in tune fairly regularly. She next retrieved her bow from the casing, which was currently compacted to the size of a pen until she extended it to full size and tightened the strings, which were in desperate need of some rosin. Thankfully she had that too, opening up a flap in the violin case to take out the chalky amber substance and stroke it along her bow smoothly and evenly.
As Scarlett prepped, Mako had run into yet another ponyta, and this one knew how to fight. Mako bit down hard, but rather than flinching, the fire type tucked itself into a ball and spun out into a flame wheel with Mako still attached. It did a horrendous amount of damage to the steel type, but another bite and the ponyta was taken out. Poseidon had to rush up to Mako afterwards though and spray him with three potions just to cover all of his wounds though...

Once Scarlett felt her bow was properly rosined, she tested the strings of her bow and violin together, grinning as they emitted a light melodious chip that only a well tuned violin could make. Even to this day, the sound made her darkened heart jump with excitement. Scarlett felt almost anxious, she hadn't played in a while, but sitting here next to these statues, she felt like maybe this time she might find the right clues...

She closed her eyes and rested for a moment, feeling the soft morning breeze blow by, and then began to play a song, starting off soft and slow to readjust herself to the feel of the instrument in her hands, over time picking up the melody. It flowed freely, growing more and more familiar as she went on, therefore her playing grew faster and somewhat more elaborate, adding vibrato at the ends of held notes for the strained effect she wanted to give the melody.
Mako continued to find more wild pokemon to train against, this time encountering something a bit different than the pokemon before; a Meditite. There was little this pokemon could do against Mako though, in spite of being a fighting type. Apparently it just wasn't strong enough to have mastered a fighting type move yet, and psychic moves would be useless. It honed it's energy as Mako bit at her viciously, hoping to store enough energy for a massive attack, but Mako overcame it's endurance, knocking it out before it could strike back.

Scarlett's gaze lowered to the ground and darkened. "....Yeah. You won't remember it either. Wipe it from your memory. Override 6-2-9-5." Scarlett stated calmly. The porygon paused for a moment, shuddering, before resuming it's normal floating and quite whirring while Scarlett put her instrument away. "Have you decided not to play captain?" Cypher inquired, his memory of Scarlett playing having been erased, he only last recalled Scarlett taking her instrument out and prepping it. "Yeah, ya know me, I don't usually like t' play outside tha ship, but I've gotta keep this old girl tuned proper." She explained nonchalantly, putting away the violin carefully. "I see. That's too bad..." Scarlett had to wonder how much of Cypher's disappointment was learned behavior, or if it actually had feelings on the matter. It was hard to remember that Cypher was a robot, thus having feelings was a bit of a stretch, though through learned behavior, it could learn what kind of feelings to portray and develop it's own sort of personality based on what it'd learned. For instance, projecting cautious behavior when in a dangerous situation, claiming to have felt worried during that time, or relief when the danger has passed. Was any of it real though?

Scarlett commanded. "Targets located." Cypher blipped almost immediately, whirring in front of Scarlett to lead her to her pokemon. They came upon the two pokemon just after Mako had finished off a Machop and was getting sprayed by Poseidon with the last of the potions Scarlett had given him. Upon seeing Scarlett, the two pokemon approached and stood at a sort of attention. "Heh. Ya two look ready. Mako, let's take a look at ya." Scarlett nodded, pulling out her pokedex to scan him again. Along with the attacks he knew, Scarlett had noticed that there were a few other things the pokedex was able to look at, such as estimated statistics of strength and endurance. Not only that, but she could also compare it to other scans. In comparison between the battle with the fiery swimmer battle when she'd last scanned Mako, the little Aklor had grown significantly stronger, and she was pleased with this. "Alrigh', it's time. Scarlett thought a bit about the opponent they would soon be facing, and switched around her team slightly just in case Mako didn't pull through as she expected. After all, it was best to be prepared for anything. She let Rave out of her pokeball, amused by her excited fluttering and handed the little bat one of her rare candies. "Here, ya gonna need this in case thins get tough." Scarlett nodded, letting the colorful little bat perch on her shoulder in the meantime. Together the group walked into Gardenia's gym, ready for a fight.
"Hoy, Gardenia! I'm here t' challenge ya." She waited, glancing around. This place was like a maze, and where in the world was the gym leader? The gym was open, so she had to be inside somewhere. Maybe she didn't hear her, or was lost herself. Either way it meant Scarlett had to find her. Grumbling, Scarlett forced her way through the shrubbery, clearly annoyed as she maneuvered her way around the flowers and the strange clock-like design of the gym and it's plants. Though, she had to admit it smelled nice at least, and she probably would have appreciated the scenery a bit more if she wasn't so focused on training and catching up to Zak. "A'ight Gardenia, d'ya mind showin' up somewhere in this petal palace so I can--" Scarlett began to mutter before finally making it through to the clearing in which Gardenia was waiting, watering some of the flowers.
She glanced up and gave Scarlett a gentle smile. "There you are~ I was wondering when you'd make your way through. I'm sorry I didn't come get you earlier, but I could tell by the sound of your voice that you're the stubborn type, and you'd find your way through to me eventually." Scarlett's eye twitched irritably. "Yea, thanks far that." She muttered sarcastically, leaning back and crossing her arms. "You're quite welcome~" Gardenia smiled, knowing exactly how Scarlett had meant that statement and taking it literally anyways just to poke Scarlett's buttons. Before the pirate could blow up at her though, Gardenia continued. "So, now that you've made it through, shall we start this battle?" She offered amicably, and Scarlett decided that rather taking out her frustrations with the gym leader verbally, she'd just vent them into Mako as he beat her pokemon into a pulp. Team OOB:
Gardenia stepped back and sent out her Cherrim, assessing the pokemon that Scarlett had sent out. A steel dark type, that didn't bode well for her grass and poison types, but she would persevere; it's what grass types did. Endurance, stamina, patience, these were the traits of the earth, and those who walked it's path in harmony. The battle began, and Gardenia started off with a Leech Seed to help slowly sap away at Mako's health. Though Mako fought back with a nasty Fire Fang, Cherrim was able to hold on and attack back, though Magical Leaf didn't seem to do very much damage, every little bit counted. She wasn't surprised when Cherrim was knocked out the next round, it had done well though considering the odds it was against. The fire fang had given Gardenia and idea though. Next she sent out her Turtwig, and commanded it to use Reflect. That would help remove the super effective physical damage the fire fang could potentially do. This shark was a brute, she doubted it would have any special attacks, and if it did, they likely wouldn't be super effective against her pokemon. Gardenia's hunch seemed right on as Scarlett continued to have Mako attack with fire fang. With that settled, she planned to have her Turtwig just wear Mako down with grass attacks, but they didn't get the chance, as Turtwig kept flinching from the powerful bites that Mako continued to deal out, as well as enduring a nasty burn.
After her Turtwig went down, Gardenia was cornered with her last pokemon, but she felt confident. She had her Roserade sprinkle stunning powder over the Aklor so that it would be paralyzed, coupled with the leech seed, she was sure it could slowly be brought down. Much to her surprise though, the little shark perservered, and even managed to burn her Roserade. In the end, the Aklor fell, but Gardenia's Roserade was looking worse for the wear. If all of Scarlett's pokemon were this strong, she was certainly done for. Gardenia hadn't noticed until now, but her body was tight, and starting to perspire with the sheer amount of tension she felt, the want to win, the want for her pokemon to persevere. She was almost out of breath...!
Scarlett next sent her Noibat into play however, and Gardenia relaxed. It was over. Her grass attacks would be laughable against a flying and dragon type. She had Roserade use poison sting, but the Noibat still fluttered there until Scarlett had it use gust. The special attack wouldn't have been deterred by reflect, which should have deactivated by now anyways. The Roserade went down, and Scarlett in the end, stood triumphant.

Gardenia signed when all was said and done with. She had known the battle was going to be a tough one from the get go and she'd given it her all so she hadn't anything to complain about but still a lose never made one feel grand about themselves. "Well you got me. Good job." She said knitting her finger together behind her head and leaning back after having withdrawn her pokemon. "Could have taken it a little easier on those fire type moves though." Finished complaining Gardenia pushed forward fishing from her pants pocket a TM and badge to which she presented to Scarlett on an open palm. "As prof of your victory at my gym i present you with the forest badge and take this. Its TM eighty six. Grass knote." She said leaning back on her heels again once she had handed over the TM and badge. "You know the saying the biggest they are the harder they fall. Well that TM is the very definition." With a smile and a wave Gardenia turned back to her garden only to stop dead. During the battle at some point while she had been too struck concerned with not losing to pay her surrounding any mind the flowers she had before been watering now lay trampled into the dirt. "Wha, no no no no noooo!" Collapsing to her knees she wept and gave a prayer for the flowers now lost.

Scarlett smirked as Gardenia admitted defeat, but suggested that she could have gone a little easier on the fire type attacks. "And ya could've helped me through this Arceus forsaken garden maze of yas but hey, now we're even." She shrugged. "Sides, who in their right mind takes it easy on a gym leader? Held ya own just fine, I'd say." She sniffed, taking her prize from Gardenia as she was handed them. Grass knot seemed like a potentially useful move against heavier opponents, she would keep it with her in case she needed it.
She turned, placing her newly acquired items in her bag and starting off before it got too late, though as Gardenia cried out, she couldn't help but pause and look over at what the gym leader was sobbing about out of sheer curiosity. Apperently some of the flowers had been trampled on during the battle, and Scarlett rolled her eyes, continuing on her way. What an idiot. If she cared so damn much about her stupid flowers, she wouldn't hold a battle in the middle of a garden where they could easily be trampled, but whatever. It wasn't Scarlett's problem.
She left and walked out into the cool night air, and smiled. two gyms down, and Scarlett felt pretty good about the progress they were making. First thing was first though, that battle had been exhausting, and Mako needed to get healed up, so Scarlett made her way back to the pokemon center, returning and handing over her pokemon to be healed. In the meantime, she got herself a room for the night. It didn't take long before she had her pokemon back, and Scarlett had crawled into her rented bed to fall asleep.

Scarlett woke to the sun shining on her face, and a fading dream of drifting away at sea. She could still feel the gentle rocking of the waves lulling her to sleep. Arceus, how she missed it... As much as she wanted to go straight to Solaceon, she knew that she'd only super trained Mako this run, so while he was nice and buffed up, the rest of her pokemon needed the same attention too. She thought about her next step, looking up some information about the next gym leader she needed to face. Her name was Maylene according to her Xtransceiver's web search, a fighting type trainer located in Veilstone City. Rave would come in handy with that, so would any psychic types, like Beta, Aero, and her Exeggcute squad. Cypher knew psybeam as well, but being a normal type would put him at a disadvantage, so she likely wouldn't use him in place of an actual psychic type.

Mako seemed to have gained a lot more experience battling trainers than the wild pokemon, probably due to battling six pokemon one after another, instead of having to scout out wild pokemon. "Let's try finding a trainer for you guys to battle against." Scarlett suggested, walking up to a man who was fishing in the river. "Catch anything good?" She inquired, peering over his shoulder. "Heh, not yet, but that's okay." He said in good humor. "Hm, well would you mind taking a brake and giving a girl a good battle?" She offered. "Well I can't say no to that. It'll make the time go by anyways." The fisherman suggested with a smile, sending out his first pokemon; a tentacool. "Alright Beta, you're up." Scarlett nodded to the alien pokemon. I will do my best Captain. Beta nodded, floating forwards the aquatic pokemon and raising a balled fist to shoot a psychic blast at it. The tentacool quickly collapsed from the blow, and Beta straightened a bit in surprise, his hovering jumping up an inch or two from the movement.
