Trey looked incredibly wary and uncertain, but he managed a smile at her teasing comment. He uh... really wasn't sure what to make of this. It was just starting to occur to him that he really should have thought ahead for this kind of thing. Sure, he'd dreamt and hoped to become famous, to get noticed, and praised, but... interviews? Pictures? The nitty gritty details on how that all worked? How people would want to talk to him and.... listen? It made him uneasy to think about it. How long would he be able to keep his act up? Especially when he'd already blown it to one major journalist. Was it even worth trying now...?
He nodded a little, glancing over at their pokemon as well, and smiling a little as he noticed Cherish peering up at the Lucario. As soon as Atona reached down to pat him on the head, Cherish reached up, wrapping his paws about the pokemon's wrist, gekkering lightly, and snuffling, nibbling, and licking at his paw. Trey snapped his fingers several times at the pokemon, who's ears perked up, and he turned to look over. He paused a moment, before letting go, bounding over, and promptly tackling Shade, instead, who gave its own little squeak in surprise, before rolling over with the blow.
Trey shook his head, then looked back at Isis. He hesitated, before finally managing, "Nice meetin' ya." As soon as Isis turned away to end the interaction, he quickly swept outside, as if the break was a release. He sighed as he got out, walking a bit fast, barely thinking to make sure his pokemon were following. Luckily, they were, with Shade trying to follow along, despite Cherish constantly tackling it, rolling with it, and essentially playing with it like a cat would a ball of yarn. His newly obtained Volcarona floated elegantly along behind the two, watching them curiously.

Trey was.... wrapped up in his own thoughts. He usually was, but this time, they were a tornado, rather than just the usual whirlwind. He felt a bit like Dorothy in his own mind, trying to sort things out, not quite sure what to make of what thoughts he was able to grasp. He sighed, rubbing his temple. Really, he didn't need to worry about this so much, did he? It was by chance that he happened to meet a reporter, by chance that she found a reason to interview him, and by chance that she found out about him talking. Though, maybe he ought to message her at some point to ask she not mention it... or at least keep it vague so he could maintain the act when he wanted.
Shaking off the thoughts, he glanced back at the pokemon, moving to lean down and brush Cherish away from terrorizing Shade. "C'mon you two, knock it off. We've got practice ta do."

Leo jumped when he felt something, or rather someone, snag onto his arm, but managed to compose himself before turning his head. He'd expected it to be the woman from before, attempting to really give him a piece of her mind, but whatever expression he was preparing to face off with her faltered as he was met with his sister's look of... disappointment? Aggravation? It was hard to tell. Leo exhaled heavily. 'No, I wasn't gambling,' he quickly corrected, and tugged Lia along to follow along with him. 'I was orchestrating a small betting pool, for both ours and Vince's sake. But, mostly ours.' He didn't understand what she was so upset about, this was all legal, and he made sure Lia was aware of that, 'the contest hall doesn't have anything against this kind of stuff. Besides, it was fair, everyone knew what they were getting into.' Honestly, she should have been proud of him!
Olivia gave a sheepish smile, before offering a shrug, "I'm sure you would've been able to get yourself together. But, either way, I'm glad I could have helped." She really didn't see how her presence had made too much of an impact, but if Vince thought otherwise, then... well, she was pleased; she was still of the belief that she hadn't made too much of a difference, however. The pinkette smacked her lips together, and put on a dramatic look over disappointment for added effects, "dang. Well, that's a shame. But, good for her, I guess." Though she kept up her teasing, apart of her was just the tiniest bit relieved to hear that Vince's 'mystery girl' had a boyfriend. Because, everyone needed someone. "Why hire a stranger, when you can have me?" she suggested, and jammed her thumb in her direction. "I'll even give you a half price on what I usually charge clients."
The young woman stretched herself out, having been idle for far too long, before she tilted her head in Vince's direction. "Really? What makes you certain I have those kinds of admirers?" she questioned, a smirk flashing across her features. Olivia leaned in close to the brunette, one eyebrow exaggeratedly raised, "do you know something I don't?" She dropped back after a moment, and with the increase in distance came a decrease in her interrogation, and she nodded at Vince's suggestion. "Maybe! I won't lie, seeing you out there certainly got me pumped," she admitted with a more genuine smile.
It was a bit of a shame, that Olivia wouldn't get a chance to make her coordinating debut, at least... not today. "It has been a while since I've seen you dance," Olivia mused, thinking back to the short, if not heavily 'encouraged' dance between them at the Renaissance Faire. But, there was just one other issue, and it was one Vince addressed before she could. She frowned gently, not so much upset but rather... contemplative, before ultimately shaking her head, declining the gentleman's offer. "Thank you, but... I think I'll just try and find something in the same store Vince found his tux," she explained. There was just something about having a pokemon dress her that left the pinkette a bit... on edge.
"You can go on ahead, Vince, I'll met you there," she spoke to her companion, and after communicating this to him she made her way back to the store. It wouldn't be hard to find something 'ball worthy', since, from what she'd observed, contests were about dazzling the crowd; she could find a dress that matched both that criteria. Unfortunately, it took a bit longer than she would've liked -- what she'd hoped would've been five minutes turned into fifteen -- but, eventually Olivia did have herself a dress, and after trying it on in the changing room, wore it out after paying for it, she wasn't going far, after all. "Sorry it took so long," she apologized to the butler and his Abra once she'd finished. The man shook his head, indicating that it wasn't so much of an issue, before motioning for his pokemon to teleport her to the castle.

Finding a nice, shaded spot, Trey sat down, keeping his fluff-ball of a pokemon in his lap, and Cherish by his side as he read through some books. He was seriously considering just doing another contest, while he was here. That was the nice thing about contests, as opposed to gyms-- you could seriously find just one contest hall, and start earning ribbons one after another. The thing was, it took time... and practice. Cherish had done pretty well, but he was still a little lost on how to keep Shade's moveset creative and entertaining. Not to mention, he had Volcarona now....
And he had items. He was considering giving them some poffins as well, but he didn't have any.... and as always, if he was going to make them, he wanted them to be perfect. Reminded of how he got the one he'd given Cherish, he pulled out his communicator, and sent a text-- and sent one off to Isis, as well.
Text to Sebastian: Hey, you still interested in contests? I was thinking of trying to make a few more poffins, once I get some extra berries

He didn't really care if it came off a bit harsh, in terms of his text to Isis, even though he wasn't trying to make it come off that way. And hopefully Sebastian was still interested.... especially if Isis did take offense. Otherwise, he might have been shutting down resources he'd need to make connections to other coordinators, to make the poffins he was so intent on making...

While he was forced to play the waiting game, Trey decided to look into updating his pokemon's movesets. It might help... Especially since they were getting stronger. He needed to find out how -- and into what -- Shade evolved. Using his phone and pokedex, it wasn't too hard to get the information, but it wasn't.... great, to begin with. Shade needed to learn Spirit Shackle-- and that was not, a smart move. A Smart move, that is. It meant he would have to stray from the pokemon's intended category, and the thought brought a frown to his face. Cherish did.... fine, with some variety to his moveset, and it wasn't bad, per se, to have an option to sabotage or mix things up, but.... it hadn't exactly been his plan. And it made him a little wary of what other moves Shade learned as the danshen got stronger. As it turned out... a ton more smart moves. Closing his eyes, Trey considered his options a moment. Cool was usually.... unappealing in a Smart contest, but that wasn't bad, if he could use it in a strategy. He glanced down at Shade, before pulling his bag around, and searching through his things. Smirking, Trey leaned back, a bit more satisfied. Shade looked up at him, one big eye blinking, and after a moment, the Irish man frowned a little. Right.... it would probably need to level up to evolve. He ground his teeth in thought some, looking away as he tried to consider whether to actually bother training. Honestly, with the pokeballs he'd given them, they should get stronger naturally....
Caught up in thought, he almost missed the pokemon wandering nearby, but the movement caught his focus, and he glanced over, frowning just slightly in confusion. A grovyle, carrying a sleeping zorua in his arms, was wondering, looking bothered, and.... noticeably uncomfortable. And Trey was about to go back to his things, when Cherish perked up, gekkering softly, and appearing to look at the pokemon. Trey had already bowed his head, but cast a side look at the pokemon. In just the peripheral of his upper vision, he could see the grovyle stop, and seem to look at the pokemon, grumbling softly in acknowledgement. He begrudgingly lifted his head as the two pokemon seemed to start communicating, Cherish sounding curious, and the grovyle, annoyed. Trey sighed. "Cher, stop botherin' it," he urged quietly, matching the grass pokemon's feelings, a bit. They didn't need to get tied up in anyone else's.... anything. And he really needed to focus on his contests for now....

Nudging his pokemon, Trey stood up, looking around for any sign of JR. He was going to go ahead and go and do a Beauty contest, try things out with Volcarona, see what it already knew, and figure out what to do with Shade in the meantime. Making his way in, Trey scribbled out a note, and handed it to the receptionist. It had his name, trainer information, pokemon information, the level and type he intended to compete in, all in a polite list. She raised her eyes at him, seemed to think a moment, but apparently recognized him (for better or worse) and turned to register him and his pokemon. For one unnerving second, he wondered if she'd seen (or heard) him talking with Isis.... but he brushed it off. He'd worry about all of that later. He waited until he had been signed up, and was told to go to the waiting room, while they found other participants, available judges, and so forth. He slipped away, quietly working with Volcarona to determine their mode of communication. He knew it was all going to be improve, but.... really, he just wanted to see what the pokemon had been taught already, and what he was capable of. He had to return Cherish and Shade once they were ready, since he couldn't really have thm on stage.

From Sinnoh to Hoenn, all for the sake of a contest. Being a coordinator certainly kept a man busy, not that Taz ever minded. He hummed quietly to the music that flowed from his device, and finished up the last of the prep work for Varon. "What do you think?" he inquired only after he was done, and spun the Charmeleon around so that he could peer at himself in the vanity. He took a moment to preen and check himself over, before giving a hearty 'Char!' and hopping down from his perch. Taz smiled. "Alright, let's get going then," he urged, and together the two left the changing room to head for the back stage.
It was while they waited for the formalities to be finished that Taz, tipping his hat back, looked over his competition. He hadn't had the chance to see his pokemon yet, since he'd returned it to its ball by the time he'd arrived, but from what he could tell.. the young man wasn't nervous. So, was he experienced? Or did he just have a good poker face? Either way, before the curtains were raised he offered a smile and a hand out to Trey, "best of luck to you." Once the curtain was up, he lowered his hand and upped his professionalism, striding up and front to the stage with confidence before releasing Varon with flourish. He greeted the crowd with an elegant roar, before emitting soft rings from his opened maw in front of him, and with his ribbons fluttering behind him he waited until he’d landed before dipping into a bow.

Trey was going through maneuvers in his head, plans and back up plans, while he waited. He looked up when he was called, and straightened, returning Volcarona and slipping the seal onto the pokeball, before following along. He stepped up back stage, glancing at the other boy-- not the one from before, but likely someone else experienced enough in contests. He looked ahead, focusing, but blinked at the sudden approach. He turned, pausing, then nodded, reaching out to shake Taz's hand in return, and immediately going back to his concentration once the introduction was concluded.
He lifted his head as the curtain was raised, and glanced over as Taz strode forward at the introduction, swallowing any anxiety as the boy released his own pokemon. Charmeleon... a fire type. If this were a battle, he'd be in some trouble, but even without type advantages, fire types just were good at beauty contests. Luckily... Carona had that, and more, on his side.
At his own introduction, Trey swept forward, tossing the ball up with a flourish. It snapped open at the apex of its ascension, a burst of sparkles exploding from inside as Carona appeared, wings beating steadily, but with methodical rhythm, steady, slow, and just enough to keep aloft, as the air quivered with heat around him. The sparkles seemed to shimmer and shine as flames licked the air between them, and the pokemon himself seemed to glow, a solid object amongst a mirage of heat and light.
With his presentation over, Carona drifted back down, bowing his head to the audience, and the judges, before sweeping his wings forward, and gliding back to his trainers side. Trey was tucking away the pokeball, somehow, refraining from smiling, keeping cool despite the fire the performance lit inside him. Carona was a natural.
The points were tallied, and the conclusion was a tie-- a coin was tossed, and Trey glanced at his pokemon as their name was called as first to perform. He waited to meet the collected pokemon's gaze, before moving forward, signing for their first move, and anxiously waiting to see whether Carona remembered it. The pokemon seemed incapable of nerves -- unlike his trainer, who was simply able to hide them -- because he immediately turned, sweeping forward and performing an elegant dance. What seemed like gold dust floated around him as he swayed from side to side, up and down, dipping through the air and twirling up, feinting forward, then floating back, before expanding his wings in a quick motion, dispersing the gold into the air. As it faded, he again returned to his trainer's side, calm and poised, but with just the faintest air of contentment.

With a coin toss deciding their order, at least for the first turn, Taz rocked back on his heels and watched as Trey and his Volcarona made the first move. His eyes lit up with several of the audience member's as the bug danced elegantly about a shower of gold dust; they were going to make for tough opponents. He didn't falter, however, but he did wait until Volcarona had pulled back before encouraging Varon forward with a sweep of the hand. "Flame Burst," he called out simply, voice loud enough to carry across the stage, and the Charmeleon hopped forward. Once more he opened his maw, this time to release, carefully constructed, rings of fire into the air above him. One, two, three, each flickered violently, warming the air, before bursting, and breaking their form. As the embers fell back down, they began to fizzle out, and burned out before any could touch the stage.
"Now, use Inferno." While the crowd was still applauding, the fire on Varon's tail grew brighter, hotter, until becoming a well-maintained torch. He began to spin, slowly at first, and then rapidly, until his body was nothing more than a fiery blur that only grew larger; its shape akin to a sphere. Before it became too large, and risked burning the stage down, Varon stopped, found his footing, and allowed the fire to die out. He held his chin high, just the faintest glow of pride in his eyes, then stepped back.

Trey knew this was a beginner's level contest. Really, he did. But.... was this Taz guy taking it easy on them? Or had he just seriously lowered his guard that much? He didn't seem like a newbie... his pokemon was clearly well trained, and well versed. But still... His move clearly amped up the audience, and they eyed Carona with some skepticism as it was their turn, but Trey was ready-- they were ready. He signed to his volcarona, but the pokemon seemed to already know what to do, almost, and heat radiated off of him as he moved forward. Again, he moved with a flourish, he danced and spun, but this time, rather than gold, beautiful flames licked at the air, hovered, spun and accentuated every movement he made. Wisps of fire followed him and danced above, and the air itself seemed to move from the heat. At the end of the performance, the pokemon gave another little bow, before sweeping back. The audience seemed a bit caught off guard, but impressed, and when Trey and Carona moved into the lead for the next round, they were ready. There was emphasis, excitement in Trey's next sign, and Carona took advantage of the remaining heat to rush forward with a blast. The air seemed to vibrate from the heat wave, and the air around him itself seemed to almost catch on fire, creating an aura around the pokemon as he twirled up, higher and higher, before snapping his wings out, and dispersing the heat.
Despite the sudden change in temperature, the audience went wild-- they loved it, and finally, a smile, perhaps even a smirk, tugged at the corner of Trey's lips as his pokemon returned to his side.

Upon their next turn Taz had Varon used Dragon Pulse, a move previously displayed during the Presentation Round of the contest. This time, when the bright blue rings were created they pulsed faintly, like that of a heart beat, and traveling across the stage before all four collided into each other. Upon contact all four burst spontaneously into a dazzling show of light that touched every part of the stage, brightly colored sparkles raining down onto Varon and, briefly, giving the fire on his tail a blue tint.

Trey eyed the pokemon competing against him as they put on another performance, but relaxed some. That was definitely a beautiful display, but he was fairly confident he would win here. They were doing well.... they just had to pull off htis last move, and honestly, Trey wasn't taking any chances. He signaled for Carona to use Light Screen. The pokemon paused only a moment, before sweeping forward, and then up, a semi-transparent, reflective wall raising from the ground to follow along with his ascent, before he landed atop, small flames flickering around him. He gave subtle turns and twists of the wall to catch and reflect the light, before taking off, the wall shattering into a burst of glittering dust that surrounded him during his descent, before disappearing as he returned to his trainer.
