Taini left it at that, and gathered his things. There was a half thought to try and visit Tsukiko since he was so close...but no...that would just end in another sleepless night. He had to try to keep his mind clean in order to sleep, and the chocolate haka never helped that.
Slowly, he made his way home.

Shizuka noticed the change in Enju's demeanor and quickly added. "I'm fine now. Mother's stopped the beatings now that my brothers have been married and I'm the only Gehaka left to become the next eligible bachelor. She says the bruises are very unattractive and that I'd be lucky, given my medical conditions, to be married in the first place... she beats the others though... especially the lazy ones who only lounge around playing cards when they should be working."
Shi paused, seeing the strand of beach he had spoken of in the far distance. The shore nearly glowed with all colors of shells and smoothed stones. Perhaps it would lift the gloomy cloud from Enju's face and he could be happy again? Or at least take his mind off of it. Shi wished he had never mentioned the beatings. It was rude to disrespect his mother so; and he was such a successful business owner that if word were to get around then he could fall into financial ruin. No one, even the most strict of Hakas, continually beat their Gehakas.
"Look, there's the beach I was telling you about..." Shi offered, pointing toward the shore. He thought to himself, please cheer up Enju, I'm fine; as though the message would get through. He tried to smile, but because his friend was in such a bad mood, it seemed more like a forced grimace than anything else.
The bottom of the boat soon brushed the bank's sand lightly and Shi hopped out to pull the boat closer into shore. The water lapped gently against the hem of his trousers as his sinewy arms heaved the bark closer to shore. The smooth stones underfoot were a relief in comparison to the hard ground on which he'd been working for the past few days. "Here we are... what do you think?" he asked finally.
((OOC: Sorry it's been a while, Xally. Was on vacation with my family and finally had time to respond today.))

[No problem c:]
Enju bit his lip, somewhat embarassed at his actions. He was naturally protective of anyone, even those he barey knew. Of course, he thought he knew Shizuka quie well already, a rather trusting and naive attitude many might think. "Well, that's good then. I'm sure you'll have no problem getting a mate," he mumbled, dropping his head, still a bit embarassed. His mother resorted to more humiliating techniques of punishment; mostly making them sleep outside or not feeding or letting them groom themselves.
Enju turned and leaned on the edge of the boat, looking at the beach ahead. A small smile formed upon his face, the glittering beach instantly drawing his attention away from any morbid thoughts he had been thinking about previously. He looked back at Shi eagerly and then back at the beach, almost hyper.
Enju held on as the boat slid upon the shore. He scrambled out, wings fluttering as he jumped into the water. He helped Shi, forgetting as he splashed around the water, pushing the boat up on shore. As the boat settled on the shore, Enju bounced over to Shizuka, bumping against him and tugging on him arm excitedly. "Wow, Shi this is amazing! It's so wonderful and colorful!" Enju couldn't seem to stay still, scrounging around the shore for shells and whatever other little treasure he could find.

So Capek had decided maybe it was best to give up on the whole fishing thing for a while. Consdiering the last time he'd managed to hook another Gehaka, the man was beginning to think he'd better quit while he was ahead -- or at least retire the tackle basket temporarily. Next time he might hook someone's skin rather than just their pants.
Which wasn't to say he didn't intend to continue enjoying the river. The calm flowing water and the relative quiet of the area was good for his mental health, thank you very much, and he found it rather relaxing after a full day working in his mother's shop. A good soak in the cool water was just what the physician ordered after a few hours of stooping over a kiln or scrubbing floors.
--And that would be exactly what he intended to do that afternoon. Sandals discarded at the water's edge, the chestnut haired Gehaka wade into the slow moving current until he was up to his knees, stooping to gather water in his cupped hands. Sighing, he splashed it over his face and scrubbed vigorously for a few seconds.
That, he decided, was nice.

Kratos sat on a boulder at the edge of the river. He looked into his reflection. He was nothing more than a mistake, one that shoudln't have been born in the first place. Everyone would have been much happier in his absence. Next to the boulder was a basket that he had placed down. It was full of herbs he had been collecting to help his mother out. It seemed like it was only mother that would leave him be. It feels pretty nice to know that someone besides himself was bearing the weight of sin. Kratos moved a hand through his reflection, breaking up the image into little fragments.

Capek really wasn't the incredibly observant type, not obviously anyway, but it didn't take a genius to spot the other Gehaka perched on a nearby rock. Wiping the water droplets from his angular features, Capek straightened and craning his neck to peer at the stranger. Well, he seemed to be meeting all sorts of people at the river recently, wasn't he? He smiled faintly despite himself as he dropped his hands away from his face.
Even so...that one didn't look like he really wanted to be bothered. There was a generally deject shoulder set that Capek couldn't help but recognize: he saw it placed on his younger brother's back fairly often. His lips pursed into a somber line at the thought. The boy deserved his sorrow, though. Poor thing was fairly useless. Should have been born Haka, Capek told himself quietly, an echo of words both his mother and his fathers had spoken before when the young Gehaka was out of the room.
Which, of course, meant that Capek had a fairly keen idea what to do in said situations, if not the discrepency to tell himself it was absolutely none of his business. Fingertips trailing in the water, he waded in the general direction of the stranger.
"Afternoon," he called cheerfully, offering the other a quick, crooked smile.

Kratos' ears perked up as he heard someone adressing him. Hn, that was all he needed. He shifted his gaze to where he heard the voice coming from. At least it wasn't a haka. He had been in trouble for being rude to those of higher class than him when all he stated was the truth.
"Do you need anything of me?" He asked bitterly. There was a coldness in his eyes, the eyes of a sinner. This gehaka obviously would have preferred to be anything else right now than talk to the other that was before him.

Shi grinned as Enju became so excited that he was nearly trembling. He was pleased that he had finally done something positive for his friend. After finishing hauling the boat onto shore, Shi joined Enju, picking up pretty shells and suggesting them to the Gehaka. Sometimes Enju liked them and kept them, sometimes not. It seemed the two didn't quite have the same taste in colors.
"I like this red and white one... the stripes across the shell are beautiful..." Shi said, holding a scallop shell to Enju. "... it's even got a hole in it already so you could easily string it onto a necklace..."

Capek blinked. Well, he hadn't expected that sort of animosity. In retrospect, he probably should have, but...-- well, the easy going always thought everyone else should be just as lax, didn't they? He shrugged inwardly and paused to re-roll his pants legs. They'd started to slip down toward the water.
"Not particularly, no," he answered truthfully, straightening to peer curiously at the other gehaka. "Just thought I'd say hello. It's not often that I run into people around here." Alright, so that was a lie but what did it matter? It gave him an excuse, albeit a flmisy one, to talk to the other.

Enju was knelt down in the shell ridden shore, feet and legs halfway sunk into the wheat colored sand. He had collected a dozen of shells in his hands, not intending to keep any of them though, and put them in a pile away from the water. His favorites seemed to be the translucent mussle shells, a rough black on the outside while the insides were a beautiful display of pinks and purples.
When he was satisfied with the mound of shells, he sat cross legged by them and went through each to examine it. "Shi, look at this one!" Enju began a rather childish habit of repeating this every time he found a strangely colored or shaped shell. And when he just thought the shell was pretty. His three favorites were layed to the side, rounded perfectly with that small hole in the top most part of it. Taking the idea of a necklace, Enju walked briskly up the beach a bit, and started stripping a plant with extremely long leaves. The leaves tore off in thing long strips, which he began to braid.
It only took a few seconds sitting by his shell pile that he strung the shells on the braided leaf string. He held it up proudly, the inside of the shells sparking in the afternoon sun. Enju crept over to Shi, walking near the water and holding the necklace behind his back. "Shi, I made you a present," he said slyly, elongating his e's in a comical way. He brought the necklace out and placed it around his neck, fixing it so it rested nicely on around his chest. Enju was entranced by the little flourescent shells again, leaving his hands resting on Shi's chest and grinned pridefully. "Like it?"

Shi left Enju to comb the beach for shells after a while, looking at him and chuckling every once in while because of his somewhat childish behavior. After a while, he began wading down the beach and saw some fish in the water. He wondered to himself if he was skilled enough to catch one with his bare hands. He rolled up his pantslegs and waded out into the water beside the moored boat.
Several fish had already congregated in the shallows, curious of the great bark which had fallen into their midst. Their silver scales shone brightly in the sun, some with a little maroon and green. Shi slowly, slowly lowered his hands into the water and waited for the fish to become accustomed to his pale limbs. Soon, they were practically brushing against his fingers. He waited for the right moment and grabbed at a fish.
The slippery creature wriggled furiously to free itself, but Shi's crafty fingers were too much for the animal. He picked it up out of the water and tossed it into the boat. He was completely unaware that Enju was making a present for him until he heard the Gehaka's voice behind him. "A present? For me?" he asked with an innocent grin. "Why, what could it be?"
The necklace which was strung around his neck was beautiful! There were a thousand rainbows in and around the mussel shells, gleaming in the late afternoon sun. "It's wonderful, Enju. The best gift I've ever received. Thank you very much..."
It was then that Shi realized Enju's hands were still on his chest and his heart fluttered. What was this feeling? This wasn't a Haka. Though... he was very kind and gentle and serene... Shi snapped out of his reverie and said. "I caught a fish... if you're hungry I could catch more, make a fire, and cook them or smoke them..."

"hn, there a plenty of hanze that walk around the river" He stated, glaring at the redhead. If Kratos were to waste his time, he'd rather do it alone and not in the presence of another. Why does everyone have to be so social nowadays.
Kratos then turned his atention back to the water. It was so calming to watch the water. Maybe if he ignored that gehaka, he woulg go away.

Capek narrowed his eyes slightly, lips pursing into a severe line as he examined the other. Well, technically there were, but...-- "Ah, well, maybe that's so; I'm afraid I don't spend much time up here. Perhaps I've just missed most of them." The dark skinned gehaka offered a swift, toothy grin and shrugged with one shoulder.
It didn't take long with the Gehaka ignoring him for the cheerful expression to fade. Capek sighed, shoulders slouching. "Alright then. I guess...I'll just move on back down the river then. Have a nice afternoon."
Capek raised one hand in a deft, otherwise wordless goodbye and then slogged his way back along the bank of the river. Eh, whatever. He'd tried, right?

Kratos spoke again. "Do what you please. Go wherever you want tor stay here, there's no one to stop you" He told the other. But I would be displeased if you did choose to stay He stared at the water some more before looking off into the distance.
Will mother be waiting for him to bring the herbs? Probably not, that haka lets him do whatever he wants. Besides, he was comfortable, perched on this boulder.

[TnT Sorry for the wait, TT <3]
Enju's face was stuck in a grin as he fingered the necklace proudly. "Yes, it's very becoming of you," he remarked in a sly tone, obviously playing around with him. Enju wasn't quick to move his hands and let them slide down part of Shi's chest before putting them in his pockets. His grin turned more feral before he nodded agreeabley.
"I can make the fire if you like. Maybe catch another since I'm kind of hungry," he patted his firm stomach sheepsihly, "It looks like you got the fish catching style down anyway," he chuckled. Enju wasn't as oblivious to the suttle tension that he was instilling in the probably unsuspecting Shizuka. What could he say, he was a flirt.
