So she kept on trooping, try after try. She was clearly beyond annoyed as her eyebrows furrowed downward as she maneuvered her picks. Finally a click resounded, breaking her of the monotonous movements of constantly picking the lock. The door popped out just enough for her to grab it and run from the room. She ran into a treasure chest just outside the door that she was pretty sure wasn't there when she had originally entered. Briar_Rose had been wandering the White Castle aimlessly, opening every door to try and find out what she was supposed to be doing next. Suddenly her Pocket Card chimed, giving her a message from Pumcat. "Doorknob... Pick locks? What?" She reread the Pocket Card as she turned the knob on a door painted with gold filagree, stepping inside as she tried to decipher Pumcat's message. The scent of roses hit her nose as soon as she had entered, the air permeated with the clean, sweet fragrance of the blooms. The Royal Gryphon looked around with an odd sense of calm, noticing the frosted glass window and the carefully constructed fireplace. She walked further inside and almost tripped on a box of tools... Just as the door swung shut behind her. Rose ran to the door and pulled on the doorknob with a good amount of force, trying to get it to open, but the darn thing wouldn't budge. She pummeled the door with two fists, trying to get it to move and yelled: "HELP!" To try and get the attention of anyone who may be passing by. After a long while of waiting, she kicked the door with her boot in defeat. Then she remembered that there were tools on the floor. She tried first to jam the small stick in the lock, not sure of what she was doing. Then she got the other piece of the lockpicking kit and tried using that instead... And realized she was holding them upside down. Finally, she got the tools in the right order and wiggled it around to try and get them into place. First she felt the lock give and the door 'clicked' as she unlocked it! ... Then she fell against the door and it locked once again. "Oops..." Briar_Rose tried again, placing both of the rods in the lock, twisting the handle's latch out of place, prying apart the tumblers, turning both as she pulled the lock out of its place in the door jamb... 'Click.' She ran out before the door could close on her again, tripping over the treasure chest in her hurry. "Well that didn't take very long..." She mused with pride on the floor. Maybe there was a locksmithing job in her future. The bird girl in cat form had struck out on her own again after the battle that she'd 'rescued' the two hatters from. It was time to explore a little bit; make herself familiar with her surroundings while scoping out the enemy territory. She would, after all, have to fight against their queen, she was certain... Wouldn't it be good to know a bit more about her? Her wandering through the castle after the Queen's interrogation had lead her to a beautiful room that smelled so wonderfully of roses that she couldn't help but peer in. Peering turned to peeking and peeking turned into nosing... Which then lead to a door clicking shut behind her. " Jack..." She cursed, looking around for options that didn't involve drawing her claws to shred the door to bits. It took her several minutes of rummaging around before the gleam of the lock picks on the mantle caught her eye. Picking pockets and snatching things from those who weren't aware that they'd dropped them was a lot different from picking a lock... But she was smart enough to figure it out, right? RIGHT? Right. She took the picks, fumbling around with them a bit before giving it a rather feeble first attempt. Just when she thought she had it the picks slipped in her hands, clattering to the floor. She stomped in frustration, pondering a few additional choice words before stooping down to retrieve the picks. One deep breath released very slowly and an inhale to follow and she was at it again, tongue sticking just out past the corner of her mouth as she focused on wiggling the first pick back into place before sneaking the other in, giving it a jiggle once she'd found the right tension and... *Click* The lock popped open and before it could shut on her again, she was out. And then he was out of his captivity once again, he was getting good at escaping this strange castle. He did not want to get locked up again.
