The footing is poor here, and you trip over a root hidden beneath several years' worth of fallen leaves. You manage to catch yourself against a tree before you fall, but the rough bark leaves painful, stinging abrasions across your palm. This may put you at a slight disadvantage.

You hear a frantic rattling sound accompanied by a stream of musical but panicked warbling. When you investigate the noise, you find a bright blue and white fairy wren struggling inside a bramble-bush; one of its wings is caught on a thorn. You manage to free it and it flutters away, lands on a bare, gnarled branch, fluffs up all its feathers, and begins preening. You feel strangely lucky afterwards.

It was the rabbit that scented it first - he wavered against moving forward, but chose to bravely continue onward. Jack caught it next - the strong, sharp musk that was...yes. Yes, it was certainly fox. This venture into the wood was proving much more interesting than he could have anticipated. He could only hope his luck would hold.

Trinian slugged through the mud, pushing aside branches and brushing off stray leaves. He was marching at a steady pace; and from the drawn in eyebrows and sullen expression, anyone could guess his mood. He had not been exactly thrilled when he had heard rumors of hurt kingshawks in the Wardwood. He had hoped never to have to return to the forest after his first experience the year previous. The experience that had lead to his current company.
A silver stag followed docilely behind his chosen. Fluffy tail wiggling, head and ears perked up in interest. He didn't stray from Trini's lead, and stayed quite close behind the man; Though his steps were a little more agile and a lot less noisy. He appeared merely curious, as if they strolled through the Wardwood on a daily basis.

Wardwood Mule You happen upon a clearing. At the very center lies a fairy circle of mushrooms, unusually large, and within it several rabbits, which are all staring at you. Their gaze is unsettling. They seem to know something.

Plucking the second broken branch off the ground and holding it together with her first, Frances trekked onward. A trail of branches was not quite what she'd expected, but it was better than being chased through the forest or, even worse, falling into a creek.

You spy a splash of blood on a single yellow leaf on the ground. When you examine it, the blood looks fresh. Strangely there are no trees in the area with such distinctly golden foliage, but this is still excellent evidence of an animal's trail… isn't it?
After some time of continued searching, however, you are forced to come to the conclusion that you've been waylaid by a prankster — or an unnaturally clever fox.

You are distracted while walking or riding by a sharp, musky odor unlike the crisp scent of the leaves underfoot. After a moment you identify a suspect-looking stain darkening the roots of a nearby tree. You bend down to sniff it... yes, that's definitely fox urine. Excellent find!

Either due to luck or your own tracking skills you discover a fine hair caught low to the ground on a branch, almost invisible against the mottled loam of the forest floor. This is good evidence of an animal's trail.

You hear the loud pop of a branch breaking deeper in the forest. After a moment of consideration, taking in the dense bluish mist rising from the forest floor, you set off in the sound's direction. It could be nothing, but it's worth investigating… as long as you're careful.

You can also keep playing if you want — the only restriction is that you can't win more than one of each type of pet, so you can still win a fox and hawk.)) ((Oh awesome! I had no clue, lol)) Kristine began to head back home, bunny in hand. Out of the corner of her eye, she spotted movement again. Was it another rabbit? Or could it be something else? She nervously pet her rabbit a bit harder than it probably liked, and then walked in the direction she thought she saw it go.

Frowning slightly at the gathering mist, Maggie nevertheless continues. The mist is beautiful, but it's nothing she hasn't seen before and makes it ever so much easier to get lost. And it's harder not to imagine wolves behind every tree, which just doesn't help anything.
