Merrick let his gaze scan around the kitchen. "Very impressive kitchen. When I was younger, I used to do different things, climbing the tower of the church around sunset simply to watch it... obviously helping the monks, though in my case I found my way to the small music room they had and usually spent time there," he said thoughtfully. For a long time, he didn't think about his mother or her past and by proxy, his own. "Personally, I'm just glad we don't have raptors chasing us in here," he said teasingly, referring to the scene with the siblings from 'Jurassic Park'. Lorcán chuckled. "Seems to me that Constance and Merrick have more in common than their parents being, well... missing," he said casually with amusement. He walked down the stairs a couple of stairs ahead of Cassandra, thinking. From what I saw, Kasumi married into the McCloud Clan roughly twenty five years ago, and unless I'm mistaken, also did so under another name in the early 1700s, he thought. It was an interesting fact he'd stumbled upon, though until it could be confirmed, he wasn't going to mention it.

Constance enjoyed hearing Merrick speak of his childhood. She smiled as she pulled the things out she would need to make her dessert. She turned and leaned against the counter a little as she chuckled. "Aww, I think we could take a couple of raptors." She teased back. "After all, we are big bad witches. Those other people were normal." Her eye twinkled with a bit of mirth as she turned back around and went to the pantry.
~~~~~~~~~~~~
Cassandra grinned a she watched Lorcan walk ahead of her. Hmm, nice view, she thought to herself. "Yeah, it seems like they might be in for a little romance," she said offhandedly. "I saw them making eyes at each other." Finally they reached the room with the pool and the doors swung open for them. The lights were already on and Cassandra set her towel on a chair.
Merrick chuckled as he let his tail reappear as he headed towards the pantry to gather the things for his own dessert. He concentrated and was somewhat surprised when it extended and lightly tickled beneath Constance's arm before it retracted playfully. He cocked his head slightly as he noticed the two inch tip of the fur was the same bright silvery white as his hair now was, though the rest was the same deep reddish gold it had always been. "Probably could, though it'd make for an interesting story if we had a dinosaur teeth necklace," he said with amusement. He quickly grabbed three bananas and cocked his head as he had an idea. As he walked back into the kitchen, his tail split into three, snagging a small jug of cream, a bag of brown sugar, and a small bowl of blueberries. Lorcán smiled slightly as he half turned, flicking his fingers lightly as the doors closed. "I know that Constance, though she won't admit it to either Merida or I, likes hearing Merrick sing. I would not be too surprised if they bond over other things as well," he said thoughtfully as he set his towel down near Cassandra's.
Constance jumped and giggled as Merrick's tail tickled underneath her arm. "Hey that's no fair." She grinned at him before shaking her head and turning back around. She was already settling into an easy companionship with him. That was not an easy thing for her to do with people. Especially now that she had learned a little more about her parents. Her hair flew up around her and a hairtie snakes around it, holding it up into a ponytail. She was finding that she would just have to have a flicker of thought and things would happen. Constance went to the refrigerator and pulled out some peaches and strawberries. She glanced over at Merrick again and just watched him quietly for several minutes.
-----------
Cassandra nodded slowly as Lorcan spoke. "Well Constance does have a bit of the same temperment that you and I do. If she likes something or someone she won't come out and admit it." She smiled at Lorcan before turning and diving in the water. As she surfaced, water dripping down her face she gave him a wicked grin. With a slight flick of her wrist she splashed him with water.
Merrick was aware Constanc was watching him, but didn't let himself look her way as he measured out the brown sugar and added water to it, stirring it to dissolve the sugar as he peeled and sliced the bananas into thin slices, then stirred in the cream slowly, letting it thicken as he stirred it before he added the blueberries. He glanced over at a couple of carved gourd canteens that he'd placed on the small minibar nearby. "Feel free to try those; one is a mint-peach cordial while the other is a raspberry-pecan cordial," he said thoughtfully.He knew the peach cordial was sweet with a subtle sweet yet fresh scent and flavor while the raspberry cordial was tart with a slightly woody flavor beneath it. Both gourds could hold roughly twenty ounces of the drink, though fortunately he had plenty where those had come from as well as several other varieties. Lorcán chuckled before he dove into the water as well, surfacing a few feet behind her and to her right. He didn't seem to notice that his hair was still bound in the braid he usually wore it in. When he didn't have it that way, it fell roughly two and a half inches below his shoulder blades. "Meh, sometimes beauty holds the tongue tighter than a vise," he said with amusement.
Constance blushed, jumping a little as Merrick spoke to her. "Oh, okay." She said, trying to decide which one to try. Finally she grabbed the king-peach one. Her eyes lit up with delight. "It is wonderful." Constance said with a smile. She poured the batter for her dessert in a dish and held the spoon out to Merrick. "Here, try this." She had blended the strawberries and peaches together and mixed it in the batter. It was sweet and tangy at the same time. She had added something else too, something secret.
--------
Cassandra turned and grinned at Lorcan. "What, you're just going to let me splash you like that," she teased. She floated around the pool, keeping an eye on him.
Merrick chuckled. He tried the batter and knew his eyes widened in surprise. "Heck, that's delicious," he said honestly. "It may surprise you, but those cordials... I made myself, I also have one that's a blackberry-apple mix with a touch of hazelnut and cinnamon," he said thoughtfully. He knew she'd likely assume he meant he purchased the items he added together to create the drinks, but in reality, he didn't; he'd grown the blackberries, peaches, and apples himself. Lorcán chuckled, looking mischevious before he dove underwater. He twisted, knowing she'd try to evade him by swimming around before he shot straight at her, lightly brushing his fingertips over the bottoms of her feet before he exhaled a stream of bubbles that would go up from her lower back and to the surface.
Constance grinned. "Well I am impressed. I don't know many guys who cook as well as you." She took the spoon and set it in the sink. She opened the oven and slipped her dish inside. The oven and begun to heat up as soon as they had entered the kitchen. She hoisted herself up and sat on the counter. "This is nice. I like hanging out with you like this."
--------
Cassandra laughed and swam away from Lorcan. The bottoms of her feet were extremely ticklish. She swam to the edge of the pool and held on as she looked for him, waiting for him to surface.
Merrick chuckled. "When you grow up in a place where the most food that's usually eaten is oatmeal and Triscuts, you tend to get bored. In my case, I turned the boredom into something a little useful," he said with a half smile. One of his tails pulled a pan with a layer of graham cracker in the bottom and sides as well as a layer of dark chocolate in the bottom. He poured the mixture into the pan and slid it into the fridge. "Thankfully there are some... calm times; I'm just glad it isn't as if we have to deal with bloodthirsty demons on a daily basis.... the stress would probably kill before the demons did," he said wryly. Lorcán swam swiftly beneath the water and surfaced right next to Cassandra silently. "Who are you looking for?" he said quietly, teasing her. It was an old routine he recalled from Bugs Bunny cartoons.
"Yeah, probably," Constance said with a nod as her legs dangled back and forth. "I still find it hard to believe that my mother is a demon and still alive. Nobody would talk about her and my father when I was little and I finally gave up asking." She closed her eyes and sighed, a small smile on her face. Ever since the first time her mother had used her as a medium, Constance could feel traces of her. Sometimes when she slept, she would dream of her mother. The face was never clear, but they would talk for what seemed like hours. "I see her in my dreams sometimes," Constance said softly. She hadn't confided that to anyone else.
--------
Cassandra smiled as she turned to look at Lorcan. "Hmm, you of course." Her eyes twinkled with happiness. Before she lost her nerve she leaned forward and gave him a quick kiss. "Catch me if you can." Cassandra laughed as she dove under the water and began to swim away.
Merrick tilted his head, blinking as she spoke. "You're fortunate, then. I had no idea whether my mother cared about me or was even alive; the only clear memory I have of her at all is dark red hair and sky blue eyes, and even then it's a blur," he said quietly. He had never revealed that detail of his past to more than two people, well.... three now, and of them, one was comatose and one had passed away. Lorcán chuckled as he dove after her swimming after her.
Constance opened her eyes and stared at him. "I dream of her, but I never see her. I only see a blurry figure." She sighed and pushed herself off the counter, landing on her feet. "I don't even remember what color her hair or eyes are." She gave a little shrug. "But hey, enough depressing talk. Let us find something else to talk about." She smiled widely at him.
--------
Cassandra finally surfaced, sucking in a lungful of air. She knew that Lorcan was easily keeping up with her, but that didn't bother her. Oh she could have used magic to make herself faster and able to stay under water longer, but she didn't want to.
Merrick shrugged slightly. He inhaled slowly, thinking. "My life for the most part was fairly boring. Most of the time I either read, helped the monks with meat or metalwork, and sometimes did gardening. The only time I left the monastery before moving here was to assist a monk on a trip in Tokyo," he said thoughtfully. Lorcán surfaced, tilting his head as he did before he wrapped his arms gently around Cassandra. "It's been a long time since I did something like this, especially with a woman as breathtaking as you," he said quietly.
"I have always wanted to travel," Constance said wistfully. "I mean, really travel. Italy, Greece, Rome, Egypt..." She sighed and shook her head. "This is the furthest I have ever been from the coven home." she brushed a strand of hair from her face before she began to make the frosting. "Maybe when we get through this...well maybe I will travel."
--------
Cassandra smiled shyly at Lorcan. "I have never done anything like this with anyone before. I have always had a lot on my shoulders, and I have never wanted to do anything like this with anyone before now."
