The voices in her head were still freaking out. Including the one that was supposed to be there.
The hunter trainee moved in for another attack, light as it might have been.

Taking the creature down just so happened to coincide with Eva's usual priority, which was ensure that the trainees and hunters got out of this fight alive and relatively unscathed. Turning Chara around, Eva decided to go for a different attack for once, swinging her weapon up and bringing the blunt end down on the creature, mustering as much strength as she could.
As she staggered back from the attack, trying to shake the tingling sensation out of her arms, she was suddenly aware of a very familiar blond boy who had planted himself in front of her. "Gale!" Now was obviously not the time for pleasantries or exchanging greetings, but Eva couldn't resist, throwing her arms around the boy and giving him a tight squeeze. Pulling back, she looked him up and down, almost panicked.
"Are you hurt? Are you okay? If you need me to heal, Chara and I could...?"
"Don't worry about me, just cut that thing!" Madison jabbed upwards again as something swished through the fog, but she just barely managed to catch an edge on something solid. Kouki hissed in irritation. "s**t - this just seems way the ******** too familiar. If we're really in the Haunted House still..."
Yeah, it was definitely flashback time.

Ofelia was bringing her hand back to strike again, the thrill of attacking outweighing her desire to go home for that moment and as her elbow bent in an effort to get ready she was suddenly accosted by someone. There was a hand on hers, a body against her, and the teen used every effort in her willpower not to bring her elbow down and strike whomever had touched her.
This choice was well rewarded when she saw the figure was Belladonna, one of the two (or three) she'd been looking for, and Ofelia slightly (and gently) untangled the witch before lowering her hands down. Rue was very clearly glowing, the marks of an early charge and Ofelia's insanity showing on her, and the teen looked at her companion with an eye that almost started blankly.
"Beedee, yer gonna need ta step back. Ah'll protect ya, Ah promised." Almost as if to show that was true, or perhaps as a way of showing Belladonna that the young woman had lucked out with meeting such a passive aggressive hunter, Ofelia turned and took another strike at the monster that was rampaging about.
The end result was a solid hit, a decent strike, and another charge touch for Rue. The weapon had gone all the way into the flesh with the strike and she pulled her fist back, the tips glistening.
"Dammit Mitsu, now isn't the time for this!" he hissed, just barely hitting the fog around this time too. Shun wished he knew what was going on through her head. He couldn't tell if she didn't want to attack or if something else was going on. All he could see was that she just wasn't really giving it her all. Her movements seemed halfhearted.
"I know you have it in you."
He had seen and received her stronger attacks before. And moments ago she had really gone after that one hunter. Did something about Candace showing up cause her to falter? Despite her supposedly sweet demeanor towards the girl, he wouldn't be too surprised if she had said something in the past. If not... he knew other hunters had done such things.
"Look. Whatever Candace or any of those other ******** of hunters have said to you, forget it. Or would you take their word over mine?"

Through Saliva's screaming, he fired again blindly and actually managed to hit the monster. His weapon finally shut up, though was panting hard.

"Well I hit it NOW, okay?!" He huffed, shaking his head from being near deafened by Saliva's screams.

There was too much happening, and so little time to respond. Hunters, boogeymen and....Amityville professors? Alexander couldn't hope to keep up, and so he just kept his back towards Yin and did his best to look out for any incoming attacks, determined to at least protect the other boil as best as he could. It just didn't matter that things were rocky between them, because he still cared about keeping him safe from harm.
At Yin's words he cast a quick glance behind him.
"Ya, sure..just do what you have to do and I'll follow." It was the best he could offer, at the moment, as he tried to keep his attention divided to impossible amounts.
Oh unholy hell, what the jack was that???
A monstrous creature had erupted forth, and all of the fog seemed to be sucked in towards it. Alexander straightened from his crouch position, unable to stop himself from blinking in bewilderment.
"SERIOUSLY!?" That was all he could come up with, as he glanced back towards Yin once more, making the decision that taking care of this..thing..was really of more pressing concern then the hunters at the moment.
So he composed himself as best as he could, face full of grim determination as he moved forward.
And promptly felt his skeletal foot slide out from beneath him, tripping him up so that he fell hard on one knee.
Useless, as usual.

She playfully stuck her tongue out at Zhi. Her lips pressed into a thin line. “I’m okay, I suppose.” Laughter bubbled out of her as the conquest horseman pulled her into a hug, his cheek pressed against hers. “Me too! Being by yourself is lonely and I don’t like it.” Jay felt herself fall to the ground as Zhi let go. “Hm?”
Home. Her body stiffened. “No.” The refusal left her lips before she even realized it. Bandaged hands covered her ears to try to block out the voices, but they were everywhere. There was no running away from Home. Pain crossed her face as she turned toward Zhi. “Zhizhi—“ He was already gone, replaced by the familiar darkness of the War jungle.
The beautiful scenery left her breathless and for a while she felt herself melt into the memory and illusion. Jay curled and uncurled her fingers while an eager grin adorned her lips.
“Jaida! Hurry or you’ll be late for the lesson!” came her mother’s smooth voice from above.
The bluejay looked up, cupped her mouth, and shouted. “Coming!” Bursting with giggles, she opted to not use her wings this time. No, that would have been far too simple of an accomplishment. Her body was filled to the brim with energy; she needed to shave it off somehow. Cackling as an idea struck her, she leapt toward a tree and wrapped her legs and arms around the trunk. She frowned at the prickly bark scratching against her skin, but as she looked up at the houses nestled in the treetops, she smiled once more and began the slow climb upward. It was slow. It was painstaking, but the warrior wouldn’t have it any other way.
As she reached the middle of the tree, she stopped to take a rest. Again, her mother’s voice echoed in her ears. “Jaida! What are you doing?” The admonishing tone had disappeared as soon as it came and now there was only fitful laughter coming from the parent. Jay laughed with her, nearly falling to the ground below.
Once she finally climbed to the top and as she struggled to climb onto the platform, a tiny yet strong hand grasped her own. When Jay lifted her head, she grinned back at the nearly-identical face staring back at her. “Mom.” She chuckled and closed one eye while the older horsewoman ruffled Jay’s hair.
“What were you thinking? Really…” Her mother continued on, but the smile on Jay’s face began to fade away. Something was not quite right about this moment. No, this was wrong. She had to go. She felt herself in her mother’s arm. Jay sighed, leaned into her mother’s chest. She missed this feeling.
Bix paused to watch as everyone unleashed on the beast. The nerd in him thought it was all... pretty awesome. But then he realized he was actually being attacked by a giant monster.
He unleashed another volley.

Wobbling back and forth a bit as he descended, Tedan made his way down the odd staircase, glancing around from time to time and muttering about not having eaten anyone. Nope, no eating here. Seriously, why wouldn't this voice leave him alone?
Not to mention the other voices. Then he realized that some of those, he recognized ... there were others here. Other Hunters, maybe Halloweeners. Maybe others, he wasn't sure. As he moved off the bottom step, Tedan rubbed at one arm and glanced downward, noticing almost dispassionately that part of his arm looked like ... stone? Weird. Still, he wasn't surprised, somehow.
He moved toward the glow of weapons almost instantly, flocking to his own kind and milling around more or less aimlessly, until he showed up. Caelius, attacking the very walls. And Tedan recognized the place ... but was soon distracted by the orders they were given. Kill the students. Kill them all.
Maybe that would make the voice still whispering to him shut up. With a decisive nod, the Sun trainee looked around for his first target. But he didn't get much of a chance to do that before it showed up, the voices screaming inside of his head to run, to get away. He took a step to do just that and then it was there, in front of them all. He slapped hands against his ears when it roared and then blinked when others began attacking it all around him.
Billy charged at the fogbeast again. Some back corner of his mind kinda hoped Clyde was ok, but he was a little preoccupied hitting this ting at the moment.
