N'mol and Bronze Tyeth

N'mol didn't look down when Z'fer put his arm around Hekate in a subtle show of support, but it was noticed. He let Hekate say her piece first, recognizing that either she was an excellent actress, or genuinely empathetic person. Either way... N'mol was surprised. If she was empathetic, she was still clearly a level-headed individual. She didn't simper. If she was an actress... she was probably not someone he would enjoy being near, but again... clever. Strong. And although she had one of the mutation colors, the Weyrs needed every able-bodied rider they could get. N'mol felt slightly unsettled at his assessment, though he wasn't sure why.

Her response to the stall owner and others nearby was accompanied with a smile of apology from N'mol himself.

Hearing Calanoth's voice while the apologies and explanations were on-going, Tyeth turned his attention in that direction as well. As you say, we are guests, which is why we show our best manners. I would also point out that I said nothing to him that was not true, nor out of line for his behavior. He will learn. It is enough. I appreciate your words of assistance, Tyeth replied to Calanoth smoothly, his own wings settling. He had no quarrel with Calanoth at this point, regardless of whatever misplaced jealousy Calanoth seemed to feel. May Yours and His enjoy the rest of their Gather. Tyeth was content to leave the issue there. It truly was just a case of a young dragon out of his depth, which was not an issue for which Tyeth felt a need to perform an actual show of strength.

Knowing Suunath had heard his reply to Calanoth and felt his earlier irritation with Devith's behavior, he sent a soothing thought to her. I apologize for my inattention. A small distraction came up. Mine is almost done with his shopping. Is Yours still at the booths?

"It's been a trying time for all of us," N'mol agreed with Hekate, his own face solemn as he thought of the shape he had found Roscoe in, nearly dead. "I'm glad to know you escaped with your life."

"As far as your Devith goes, no harm done. When he learns how to phrase his words," N'mol smiled at Hekate, "I have no doubt he'll be a force to be reckoned with."

He glanced between Z'fer and Hekate as he continued, well aware that he was dealing with them as much as a pair as singly. "I would rather you have the opportunity to purchase the piece if you're taken with it. There are plenty of other fine items here. I'll purchase something else. Please." He gestured with one hand at the stall and stepped back to leave them both enough room to step forward for haggling if the need should arise.

Riarna -- Trine Weyr Weavers' Booth

moonlit-raven

With Kindra having paid and left with her parcels and a ribbon, Riarna took the dress down and folded it carefully, tucking it away somewhere clean for transport back to the Weaver's area later.

She sold several smaller items-- handkerchiefs, a roll of ribbon-- before another person looking at one of the more expensive items arrived. She sized up the man, determining that he was a rider from his knots, in the few moments it took him to ask his question. "The quilt is four marks. Journeyman work, quality materials, and one of a kind as well. Another one just like it will not be made again."

When the Silver began causing a scene, and Tyeth reacted, Suunath's eyes whirled a little red, what concerned Tyeth, concerned her as well and she lifted herself up to see what was going on. So... it was a Silver causing trouble? ... Suunath growled to herself but kept quiet since Tyeth and Calanoth were already on it, that and the Silver was not of HER Weyr and as such Suunath decided to see if Cephieth would do anything about it, since Trine was her Weyr. Suunath didn't know which Weyr the Silver was from, only that it wasn't Benden and she had no wish to speak to the rude creature so she settled down again, keeping her irritation from Kindra who was pleased right now.

"I noticed, how could i not, it seems that these other Weyrs do not have the proper manners at times" She replied to Tyeth, wriggling a little to settle into the sand again. Yes Mine is at the trader's Stall, she seems quite pleased with herself, first that egg, now something that she is keeping even from me that she has just bought, as well as a new dress.... as if she needs more" Suunath's tone was less than pleased at Kindra's frivolous spending on a dress she didn't need, though.. it had been pretty and suitable for Hers.... "I spoke too soon.... " added Suunath on the subject of Kindra, picking something up from her rider.

Kindra on the other hand was still waiting for a reply from the traders, she'd enquired about the price on the riding boots and had been ignored.. her good mood was clouded with irritation. She did not like being ignored.. and it wasn't hard to see she was a Rider.. a GOLD Rider at that. She coughed and repeated herself, louder this time "I SAID... how much are the boots?" and she pointed at said boots, almost daring them to ignore her again.

4 marks. It wasn't a bad price, and it looked as if the quilt was of good quality. Plus, even more importantly, it would be his, and he could return the one he was borrowing back to its owner. "I'll take it."

He dug the marks out of his pocket, pulling out the four that she was asking. "Here you go." He handed them over, smiling at the woman. "Must be a good day for sales, yeah?"

"will you quit giving away all of our linen?!" The woman hissed at her partner.

"Hush woman. You know i bought it just for this reason." Her partner snapped back at her as he prepared more pieces to be used for wrapping.

"The least you could do is charge for it!"

"I'm not going to do that we're making a killing if you happen to remember. We can afford to be gracious." He raised a hand in warning silence. He wouldn't hear another word of her nagging on the subject. Sharp tones from another source drew his attention and he turned startled to see the dark haired woman glaring up at him. "The boots? The boots!" He flipped like a switch, all smiles and charm. "Why only two marks for the lovely Jr. Weyrwoman and not a quarter mark more!" He swept her a low bow. "Do you spy a pair that tickle your fancy?" He nabbed the pair Kleos had been eying previously and offered them for inspection.

(it's ok Dizzy, i just thought you did it on purpose for the sake of awesome drama and rp... but there are a lot of people at the trader's stall ... so you are totally forgiven.. if you can forgive Kindra being a bit snappy XD)

Kindra rolled her eyes.... well at least he was giving her respect now he actually paid attention to her. She was somewhat mollified by his tone though, "Two marks ..... " she mused and eyes what marks she had remaining "And you're sure you can't go lower?.... hmm ... well.. i DO need some new riding boots..." she muttered the last to herself and took the pair he offered to her and examined them "Alright.. i'll take this pair then, thank you" she said finally, her tone a little harsher on the thanks, than she had probably intended it to be but she HAD been ignored at first. She handed over the marks. "I assume there's no charge for wrapping them so it's easier for me to carry them" she said, having caught some of the arguement between the man and the woman, she fought to keep a small smirk off her face.

Riarna - Trine Weyr Weavers' Booth

The Weaver accepted F'nell's marks with a nod, taking care to put them away where appropriate so the Journeyman who had made the quilt would receive their cut later on. "Thank you. It has been a good day so far, yes. People enjoy a good Gather, of course, and this one isn't so bad considering how impromptu it was."

With the marks put away, Riarna turned her attention back to F'nell. "Would you like that wrapped? It would be a shame to get it dusty before you got back to your weyr." Normally it would be an 1/8 mark for the wrapping, but today was not a usual Gather and the lack of charge for that was as much in deference to the strained states of people's pockets as a way to encourage people to purchase from her. Her partner was smiling at this point, sensing that their fortunes were doing as well as Riarna was telling F'nell.

Trine Weyr Weavers' Booth

"No thanks," the rider responded courteously. "I don't think it'll get too dusty on the way to my weyr, especially since I'm going to take it there right away." He smiled. It was far to nice to be carrying around, and since it wouldn't take that much time to get there and back, that seemed to be the best decision. It wasn't like he was here at the gather with anyone at the moment, so it was unlikely he would miss anything in that short period of time.

He nodded. "It probably doesn't hurt that a good portion of us want items of our own." Trine was being very generous with them, but there was something to be said about having things that had never belonged to someone else. "I'm sure that you'll make a good profit."

((Of course I can xd It's just IC ^_^

Roll is for Cai ))

Traders

He didn't even have to try. These weyrfolk were desperate! He let the woman talk herself out of haggling with him and just accepted her marks with a smile. "Of course weyrwoman. You're very welcome!" Shooting his partner a look that clearly said 'stuff it' He reached for the cloth they'd been arguing over and wrapped up the boots into a nice little bundle for Kindra. "Have a pleasant day!"

Aside, again he whispered to the fuming woman behind him. "Full price. Again. Never you mind about that cheap fabric."

Cai

Cai raised an eyebrow at the paltry offerings that remained. She had no skill for making clothing herself and as such would not be purchasing raw fabric. Apparently the only things left were two pairs of pants. Lucky enough she was scrawny and had no feminine curves that she'd need to squeeze into them. She'd fit the smaller pair just fine. While they wouldn't be perfect fits they'd be a change of clothes and that was more than welcome. A blanket wouldn't be bad either... but she'd rather wait till she had somewhere more permanent to stay before she bought anything she'd have to carry around.

"Ladies first? We're both ladies." She stated matter of factly, not understanding the jest if there was one. "Anyways there's little left..." She knew she should have just gone straight shopping then left. "I guess pants will have to do for now. At least there's one for each of us." She turned to the Weaver woman. "What are you charging for those?" She gestured back to the objects in question.

Z'fer

He was grateful that Hekate was at least showing some remorse. Yes it had been her dragon and not her but it was downright immature and embarrassing. He was uncomfortably reminded about how much younger than he she was. He returned N'mol's smile. At least she hadn't caused anymore trouble when she opened her mouth. She had a rather sharp tongue when she decided to use it.

"Thank you N'mol. That's kind of you." He wasn't sure about Benden's Wingleader. The young man had been nothing but polite but Z'fer still held reservations. Was it an act to prove his superiority? Z'fer wouldn't be shocked. Then again he could just be an honestly polite person and Z'fer wasn't sure if he thought him less or more because of it. It might have been easier to think of the kid in better terms had Calanoth not held a grudge against the bronze Tyeth for his fault of hatching. It was idiotic but Calanoth like his rider needed to size himself up against any male he deemed competition.

And polite young Bronze Wingleaders were right at the top of that list.

Smithhall Vendors

"Well now that everything's fine and dandy lets get down to business. I can assume you heard my price little lady?" The Journeyman turned himself from N'mol to face Hekate since she seemed to be the one who'd started this little fiasco.

Z'fer

"I'll be paying for that." He interjected smoothly. He was getting tired of smiths too for that matter. "Four Marks? Fine." Z'fer dug the marks out of his pocket and passed them over. He didn't even want to haggle. The little beast of jealousy was rising within his chest again as he considered the nice display Hekate and N'mol had made, all polite forgiveness and flattering words. He was near her age too from what Z'fer had been able to tell. Would she be taken in by his charm and the fact that he was also from Benden? Nevermind that she claimed to prefer the jungles he couldn't imagine not wanting the company of someone from her once-home.

Smithhall Vendors

The smith nodded and accepted Z'fer's coinage. Transaction finished he turned back to N'mol. "Tough break kid. We have other fine items as well, and if you're interested we're always willing to take commissions for a fair price."

Hekate really was pleased with how well she'd managed to side step that little fiasco. Maybe she wasn't all that fond of Benden, but she certainly didn't want a fight breaking out between the three Weyrs. Though she really would have to have a nice long talk with Devith about picking their battles. Something a slight side glance made the still somewhat sulking silver understand. While she was far from as angry with him as the others were he wasn't going to get out of this one without a bit of a tongue lashing even if Hekate had been clever and quick enough to spare him the worst of the others bites.

Turning to N'mol Hekate gave him a slight bow gifting the young wingleader with a softer smile then she had before now that the worst of the tempers had been taken care of and the situation disarmed. "Thank you for your understanding Wingleader." Hekate replied her gold eyes seeming to brighten as she turned back to the booth. She was worried at first if Z'fer would even consider such an expensive item, but her worry soon turned to pure joy as the older rider stepped in on her account.

Picking up the hair clip as the coins were exchanged Hekate fell quiet for a moment in reverie as she ran gentle fingers over the sloping curves of the pin a symbol she'd seen many times in her life and one so very close to her own heart. A small truly happy smile made it's way over the young weyrlings face as she peered up at Z'fer. "Oh thank you." She whispered just loud enough for him to hear, her voice soft and breathy with joy. Undoing the clasp she slid the clip into her hair pulling the stray locks back from her face where the feline sat among the waves of red for all the world as if it belonged there among the crimson strands of it's own personal jungle.

Staring up at where the clips green eyes twinkled predatorily from his rider's hair Devith leaned into her side his rider's joy washing over him. It was worth it~ Devith crooned low in Hekate's mind eyes bright with love.

Next time though perhaps it'd be more prudent to make less of a scene.
Hekate warned her dragon shaking her head at the silver before grinning up at Z'fer. "Come on don't think I haven't forgotten about your boots. Let's see if we can haggle you a good pair." She coaxed hoping to steer the man away and leave N'mol to shop in peace. "I think I saw a set at the trader's stall that'll fit you."

Z'fer
He'd let go of her while handling the transaction. As she clipped her hair back he took his shirt from his belt and finally put it back on. Maybe he'd see if they could ditch the rest of the gather till the evening's entertainment started. After all the drama and the physical beating, he was feeling quite people'd out.

The effect of the clip on her hair was pleasant but it was more the effect on her he'd wished. He didn't view what had just happened as a victory...in fact he had the feeling that it would come round and bite him in the arse later on. Still, her breathless excitement was all he could have asked. At least she was focused on him and his gift rather than anyone else. He didn't care in the end how she wore her hair.

"Alright we can go look at boots since you seem so intent on me getting a pair. After that do you think we could go somewhere more...private?" He wrapped his arm around her again, being much more gentle this time around. He let her turn him away from the smiths stall.

Dizzian

So much for private. Or at least the privacy he might have claimed. Dizzian stood behind them arms crossed and lips pursed. Being ignored and going unnoticed didn't bother the girl but she'd gathered the jist of what had happened through Courath's observations and she didn't like it one bit. She liked it even less when her friend made googly eyes up at the man and his arm went around her once again. Only the pressure of Courath kept her from saying something inexcusably mean at that moment.

She was angry for her friend's sake but anything she said at that moment would have been out of hurt more than anything else and none of it would have been useful. After a moment's struggle she unbent though every movement was short with tension. Her face fell from it's angry look and she tried to give a smile for Hekate and a tilt of her head. "It's beautiful." Try as she might she couldn't keep the lines of sadness from around her eyes.

Courath sat behind her, guarding the stack of books that had been placed on the ground. To Tyeth her quiet voice added. ~ I am sorry for both my clutchmate and his friends actions today. There is no excuse but I hope you will not hold it against us. I can do nothing for the bronze but I will do what I can to help guide Devith and His into the proper ways of the Weyr.~ After the private message she stood and touched noses with Devith, eyes calm. ~ That was unwise... but you already know that. Things will be alright Devith. ~
PostPosted: Sun Oct 07, 2012 9:51 pm

"Well I wouldn't be so intent if it weren't for the fact you're are practically falling apart." Hekate teased nudging the man playfully in his side careful to avoid his bruises lest she injure him further.

"And it is getting pretty hot~" She added shading her eyes with one hand and glancing towards the sky. Almost anyone with good sense would be getting out of the sun this time of day with the hot Trine weather. "I bet we can nab a nice shady spot by the lake and stick our feet in the water for a bit." She vouched turning to suddenly come face to face with her friend ad Courath.

"Dizzian!" Hekate blinked in surprise, but her surprise soon turned into a delighted if not slightly troubled smile at her friends compliment. What had the girl worried now? Typically the greenrider was the bubblier of the two and her sudden silence troubled Hekate greatly.

"Did you find what you were looking at at the weaver stalls? I was just about to go see if I could shake down the traders for some decent prices on some boots. Maybe look into nabbing a smaller pair for myself. Maybe you should look too. Why Courath will be up in the air in no time." She replied trying to draw a smile out of her friend at the thought of their first and hopefully soon upcoming flights. "Then I was going to head down to the lake. It's too hot out here for man nor flit right now." Hekate added her Baron and Prince agreeing with her with hearty chittering and imagines of frolicking in the lake water.

Devith reluctantly touched noses with his sibling his eyes still whirling with the emotions of the argument and found himself privately grateful for his sister as well as his rider's quieter understands. She wanted it so much. Devith rumbled with shy reluctance to his sister. And I while I couldn't get it for her I didn't want her to have to watch it be taken away. He confided to his sibling, his rider's joy easing the insults he felt he had been dealt. No it hadn't been wise, but it was done.

[Xan]

Too slow! As the quilt was folded up and passed to a young rider Xan chided herself for hanging about. Oh well, there was other stuff there still to brighten up her sleeping space; her weyr had been totally smashed, and few enough of her possessions had been salvageable. The curly-haired blue rider was nothing if not irrepressible however, and so she approached the unfamiliar rider and the booth with a grin. "Hey handsome," she grinned to F'nell, "how's it going? Malvren are you? Welcome to Trine!" The accent sounded more Malvren than Benden, though she could be mistaken she supposed.

Then turning to the traders she cocked her head thoughtfully. "Mmmh, I quite like that little rug, can you do me a good price on it?" The blue rider's tones carried a distinct hint of Flirt; she certainly wasn't above batting her eyelids if it would get her money off. Not having the marks to just see what she wanted there, there, there, there and there too and snap it up was.... Well, it wasn't nice, and to stay irrepressible she was currently thinking of it as a sort of a game. How much could she get people to cut their price for her?

Kleos chuckled softly and shook her head at her companion. "I may be a woman but I've never considered myself a lady, Cai." It looked like the larger pair of trousers might just about fit her wide hips. She would prefer to try them on to be sure but... well, she supposed if they didn't fit her she could find somebody who would want to trade them for something.

The abrupt arrival of a Trine rider made Kleos keen to express her interest; she had to come away from today with something practical or she'd feel a total fool. "And the second pair?" she put in swiftly as the black-haired woman asked about one of the rugs. "What is the best price you will give for those?"

Riarna - Trine Weyr Weavers' Booth

"I certainly hope you're right," Riarna replied to F'nell with a smile and then turned her attention to the women who inquired into the pants while her partner haggled over the price of a commission with another customer.

"Both pairs are 1 and 1/2 marks at stall price. Best price I could do would be... oh, 1 and 1/8 marks. That offer stands for both of you, of course." She looked between the two, acknowledging Cai's healer marks (even though she was an apprentice) and confirming that Kleos was a rider. "The price is suitable for the work, even so."

As she heard the other rider's inquiry into the rug, Riarna almost felt herself grimace, but managed to keep on her Politely Inquiring Shopkeeper face. As if her flirtations were going to work at all on two reasonable female Crafters! That was the reason riders earned themselves bad names, people like that. Unfortunately, some lack-witted boy or girl or two had likely fallen for it in the past and once you learned it worked once... well. There went all hope for reason.

Riarna forced herself to brush her lamentations and judgements aside and offered the pair of black pants to Kleos. "Fine quality linen, rider." She turned her eyes to Cai as she let Kleos inspect the material if she wished. "If the sizes aren't suitable, we are also accepting commissions at stall prices to weave a pair in your size. Brown, tan, and black are the colors currently available. Of course, we would need a day or two to complete the commission, but that may be better than buying ill-fitting clothing."

-----

NPC Journeywoman Weaver

As soon as she had finished with accepting the man's commission and making sure it was being made for a suitable price for the work, the other Weaver found herself being questioned by a female rider. She smiled at her, but she could tell that even if this rider was friendly, she was clearly laying it on a little thick in an attempt to gain favor.

"This one here?" The Weaver tapped the blue-and-brown piece. "It's 1 1/2 marks and it's Journeyman work. Stamped and all. If you were looking for a better price, I couldn't go much lower.

((@Tawny-- I gave you standard price, so we can haggle a little bit. =) Xan's roll says she gets 1/4 mark off. She may just have to work for it a little.))

-----

N'mol and Tyeth

Tyeth, unruffled, accepted Courath's apology with a rumble. Your friend was merely caught up in the moment. His actions will not affect my view of Trine or of either of you.

Suunath's trailing sentence drew Tyeth's conerned gaze. Has something gone wrong?

N'mol put aside his concerns over the confrontation for now, as glad as the other two that it had ended without a real fight. When Hekate and Z'fer finished their transaction and moved away, N'mol reached out and lifted the firelizard pendant slightly, looking it over. The pendant was also a lovely piece, and the red eyes implied a beast as difficult as Kindra could sometimes be (almost as worthy an adversary as a feline, truly). A thought occurred to him, however, and he set the pendant down again. It might not be wise... but, well, he thought she'd like it and with any luck it wouldn't take the Smiths too long to make if they didn't have any stored away.

"Do you have any daggers or small knives on hand? And if not, how much would it cost to commission a piece that is both sturdy and decorative? Solid, sturdy blade with a slightly decorative hilt, meant for a woman." He debated making it a knife more easily hidden than most, but Kindra... well, she was not exactly about subtlety. If she had a blade, she would want people know she had it, even if they mistook it for a decorative piece. N'mol wasn't sure if he'd feel safer with her having it or not, but the point was that she would like it. He could buy her something smaller, for now, and when the commission was completed, could surprise her with it then.

"Well it's lovely and all, but I'm a bit hard up," Xan replied sweeping her wildly curly hair back and biting on her lip thoughtfully. "One and an eighth?" she suggested, not accustomed to haggling in the least but more than game for giving it a go.
