"Are you sure?" The mermaid flinched at the rough tone of Rep and the hunters arguing, instantly cringing back from the glass as if to escape them. She even recognized one of the hunters as the one who netted her.
And it almost succeeding in ruining the talk she was having with Wash. Almost, if it wasn't for her attempting to at least find decency in one of the hunters.
"Nothing bad right now..." she latched on to that as her face fell. "I'm sorry Wash, but those two...well the dark skinned one...he was there for my capture too." She looked away from the hunter when he came up to leave that small comment, biting her lip.
It was okay though, as long as she was on this side of this glass. She was even more grateful for Mei who yelled at the hunter and smiled at the ghoul. "Thank you Mei...I'm sorry they trouble you so much." She offered a small apologetic smile to the broken doll and then looked back at Wash.
"I suppose...Oh yes! Pirate ships, thick of sturdy wood and treasures from the past! I particularly like the pretty small rocks that gleam when hit by the sunlight." The mermaid continued to nom her lip, nervously looking at the other male hunters and then back to Wash.
"I see, I wonder if we have minipets that would be to your liking then! We have some homely ones as well." A lot of homely ones to be honest.
"For my room?" her eyes dropped as she thought of how to explain it. "Well lets see. They half half of my room so that it is a bedroom and then the other half is a Aquarium. The glass is too thick to break so....Water never leaks. And I can swim in the aquarium and then sleep in my bed...or you know...vice cersa! I guess it kinda of just stays clean though...I never really thought about it...."
"Ah..." She looked surprised and then nodded, "I too thought sirens were mostly females but....Israfel is pretty regardless. And I see Israfel! Maybe next time, I should sit down so we can exchange stories about it with each other!"
"Ah...I won't worry about him, They are leaving so its okay now...." But it severely made her doubt talking to any of the other male hunters....well besides Wash.

She had been content to watch others for the time being, still trying to figure out what was going on. This was still too suspicious for her, even if she was taking to the way they were talking to her. It was a nice change of pace, but that was about it. A single grey eye moved to stare at the screen, focusing on the somewhat blurry Hunter. Ceres, was it?
"Amrita." She said a little louder than her first introduction, but just barely. Backward hands strummed knuckles against her patched legs, mulling over this new Hunter and deciding, as always, to approach with caution. This was, after all, the first Hunter she didn't know that had talked directly to her.
"You kind of dress like my friend." She murmured thoughtfully, eyeing the little dress that Ceres wore under her coat. It reminded her of Xiu, and the thought only made an uncomfortable pang in her chest. "Minus the coat." She added, being none too sweet about it.Quote: Amrita- Trust: 7% (+10 to Deryk) - Calm: 28% - Obedience: 30% (+10 to Deryk/Petra) - Approachability: 30% - Appearance: Basically this, only not smiling, missing the left half of her face (clear down to the bone), and with vines curling out from the stitches on her left wrist.

Deryk soon deflated as he went on unnoticed by just about all the others. Right. He supposed he should have expected that. He was a scrawny, flaily nerd. Who would take him seriously? Letting out a sigh, Tooley was dismissed back to her unsummoned state and he just sort of turned back towards the windows to focus on the students instead. Another hunter was talking to Amrita right now, so he just sort of sat by.

"Pleasure to meet you, Amrita." She replied almost instantly after the female went quiet once more. She noticed the loud and confidence voice she seemed to have, and somewhere in her mind she noted this one might be a touch nut to crack. Best start slow. Quickly glancing down too to follow her gaze, she general sounded interested. Well, she hoped she did. "Really? Your friend must have an amazing sense of fashion then."Personally Ceres somewhat felt these cloths did not fit her personality all that well, and they were getting worn. Maybe she would get rid of them someday soon. "The coat comes with the job, though, so kind of out of luck there." True facts man, they all wore one of them. It was a symbol of their own pride as hunters, as the protectors of humanity. Ceres loved her coat. Still she settled near the cage and glanced at the girl within a little closer. She had stitches all over her body, and even a little bit of skull showing. Her hands and feet were oddly backwards, and somehow she seemed to hold herself up just fine. She was gruesome in her own way, but Ceres reminded herself that a lot of the halloween people could be scary. She would look at them all with a train medical eye, and try not to find herself growing sick. "Pardon my ignorance, but how easy is it to walk and use hands that are backwards? I've never heard of such a thing before." Ceres looks like this

Wash's opinion of his fellow hunter fell with his facial expression. "That guy?" He captured her, and then they stuck her in, well, an AQUARIUM, and he had the gall to come over and leer at her... Some people's children, he thought disgustedly. If that man had a mother, she oughta be ashamed. "I'm sorry too, Miss Mei. I'm Wash, by the way," he added, nodding to Gale. "Oh, pirate treasure? Ha! I'd always dreamed of finding some when I was a kid, but the water around our city is so muddy you can't really see an inch in front of your face." He thought about it some more, and added, "Plus, a lot of places aren't safe to swim. Gators n' all." At her comments about minipets, he grinned. "Yeah, there are a lot of ugly critters where I come from. There are some cute ones too, though - like, uh. Cats, I guess. Dogs? That kind of thing. Especially the little fluffy ones." He wouldn't admit it, but his wife's bichon had been more his than hers. He was somewhat relieved that the girl seemed distracted talking about her room, and was more than happy to listen. "Oh, wow. That sounds really nice! Do they just, like, have rooms like that put aside for you, or did they build it?" It sounded like an expensive undertaking. "In our world, people with indoor pools are usually pretty rich." Just the logistics of building one in a home, safeguarding against leaks and structural damage, made his head twinge. It was a nightmare, from a builder's perspective. It sounded beautiful, though. "Ha, I wish our rooms had something like that," he added lightheartedly. As Isra chimed in, his smile was replaced with a puzzled frown. Both? Hermaphrodite, maybe? Weird, but not terribly scary. He was awfully pretty for a boy, now that she'd mentioned it. He wondered, would he sign up for football, or do cheerleading? Wash shook his head. They weren't humans, they probably didn't have football or cheerleading or any such nonsense. Still, it was sort of funny to wonder. "Sorry...Israfel? Didn't mean to be rude. Th' name's Wash." He felt a little like a broken record. This was probably the most he'd talked to anyone (or anything) in ages though. It felt kind of freeing. His glance at Isra brought his attention to another hunter, however, one he didn't recognize. But he'd stood up to that redhead, and that took courage. "Hey, man, I don't think we've met, but. Well. Thanks." He cocked his head over to where the, ah, lovely and spirited individual had been last standing. "That guy, you know." He didn't say anything more, but tried to convey both gratitude and understanding. Wash had never had to interact with Rep, but after seeing him talk down to Marcus, it took guts to stand up to him. "See that guy?" He added to Amphi. "I don't think he wants to hurt you, either. I'm sorry y'all never really see us at our best- sorry we don't give you the chance, I suppose."He was apologizing a lot lately.

The siren giggled. "It's alright. Even some halloweeners get it wrong. I never really undertstood why gender was important though. I mean it has a role, but overall its' not THAT important. But it's nice to meet you Wash. Wash. Do you Wash things?" It was a genuine curiosity, Israfel's head tilting as he tried to make out if Wash was a washer. Isra sure knew a lot of hunters, didn't he? Syd had been about to offer to walk with him when others he was familiar with--moreso than her--had came in, and started talking with him. To be honest, she thought, she was feeling a little bit torn the longer she listened to the creatures behind the glass.
She thought it was an honor to be a weapon--that there was no greater thing than to have a partner like Izy. But... they seemed so young to be making that sort of commitment. It...
She took another step back, letting the others do the talking, and let her mind try and clear. It didn't seem to be working.

Amrita gave a smile, but didn't return the sentiments. She wasn't sure if it was a pleasure to meet this one yet, but so far she seemed okay. At least as far as Hunters went; she tended to only trust them as far as she could punch them.
"She's a sweet ghoul." Was all she said. Yes, Amrita would be a tough nut to crack; Ceres didn't have the benefit of meeting her outside of here. No matter what, to start, this one would stay on her guard. They might have only been talking, but who knew what happened when the Hunters got what they were looking for.
Yes, I have a coat just like it, Amrita thought to herself with a small chuckle, leaning her chin on her propped up knees. Now that she thought about it; that was another loose end. With her gone, what would happen to that coat and tablet she had in her room? She never did tell Lizzy where it was... Her smile faded long enough for her to look absolutely miserable. Her friends. She missed her friends; were they worried about her? What would happen to them if she never came back?
I can show you first hand, she answered mentally, the tone in her head downright vicious. If they were on even terms Amrita would have no qualms about possessing this woman. It would be in the name of science, right? As it were she didn't feel like outing herself for what she could do; that was better left unsaid until she had to try and use it. "Not easy." She murmured instead, quite unhappily. "I got used to it. It's normal anatomy that's hard to use." Amphi blinked as Israfel spoke up and then went over to take the siren's hand and pull it with her. "Now we can talk together!" The mermaid felt that Wash was a good hunter indeed to talk to and then Israfel was so relaxed...It was again hard not to fall into it.
"We have LOTS of pirate treasure in my home sea. All sorts of gold and jewels and pearls and such. Shinies and old falling apart documents." Her hand still held Israfel's as she drew it up show the expanse of what she meant.
"Our rooms CAN be designed for us. But It's FEAR so it kind...of just molds?" She blinked, "Is your room different Israfel?"
She bit her lip again, "Don't worry about apologizing Wash. Your so kind! Really, I don't feel so bad after talking to you like this."

There was a light cough, and then away from the visibility of the window, one of the lab techs drawing a line across their neck for all trainees to see.
The message was clear. Don't get too attached or overly friendly.

"Oh, that's too bad. If it's soap Dr. Fugwarts has this really nice saltwater scrub, just fifteen silver seeds. But being clean is very good, unless you're a slime monster or something. I just like being clean because then I can wear all my spidersilk outfits and foxfire fur and corrividus feathers." He snuggled into his outfit, letting out a light coo of happiness. As Amphi held up his hands the siren blinked, then grinned. "My home is an island with the most beautiful flowers. The smell I guess is pretty gross to most halloweeners but I love it. Roses, lilies, poppy- we have so many." earwings flapped excitedly. "And my room was a small island like thing with a tree to roost in. The island was chained to the ceiling so it wouldn't float and I could swim under and around it." Quote: Trust: 75% Calm: 65% Obedience: 50% Approachability: 100%

"Rep."
The look on Gale's face was now murderous. He jabbed a finger at himself first, and then in the direction of the redhead.
"Guess what. Hunter. F***ing trainee. And not a very good one either, from what I hear. So either get your s**t together and act like you give a s**t, or don't, I could care less. Either way, directly f***ing up a direct order is not exactly the smartest move in the book - not that you were that smart to begin with, but I wouldn't suggest getting in my way now, not when I could have you thrown out on your pathetic little arse in about five minutes. So get out of here before I have you written up."
Glancing over at Deryk, Gale gave him a small nod, as though to remind him that he had done a good job. His eyes flickered behind the glasses, and he turned his head to look back at Mei, who was, understandably, furious.
The black man conversing with the mermaid was looking over at them, and Gale lifted his chin, now completely ignoring Rep - who had hopefully left with Dakota and Marcus by now - and tried to remember who he was. Wash, yes that was it. Gale had seen him before, but hadn't really spoken much to him.
"Her name's Mei," he said quietly, in affirmation. "I'm Gale."
The small, indiscreet cough from one of the techs had Gale glancing towards him, understanding the message without speaking. He frowned a little, and then pressed his lips together, nodding briefly before he turned back to Mei.
And now he wasn't sure exactly what to say.
