"So you can damn well stop using up my bullets!" he groused as he reloaded his weapon. "Unless...are you just wanting to hold my hand that badly? Wanna wee what a real man feels like?" He flexed his muscles at he took his shot and fired. Immediately the recoil hit, blasting his shirt to ribbons and leaving but a few scraps hanging off of him. But it didn't really matter, he was still sporting his beef bandage. " Zoey's right Mya. We need some buffs so maybe you could be of actual use and stop using my gun, and set some barriers protect you and Zoey." ((Sacrificing roll to place a barrier on Eliza and himself)) "Together." A simple, one word. All he needed in order for this partnership to be formed. Whoever this Hunter was, he was going to fight with her. She had attack weapons. Driving his dagger into the ground, he grunted softly, smirking as the barrier took effect. He didn't need to talk. Neither did she. The two of them seemed to have understood the feeling those things had caused. A good team...he knew this would somehow help....right?

The pain hadn't been the normal stabbing pain, but instead, a shrill screaming volume well beyond agonizing. Caelius finally struggled back to his knees, staring at the ground for a second, all sounds, shouting, screaming second to his heart pounding sluggishly, in slow motion.
And all of a sudden, everything sped up again, he coughed, forced himself upright just as Profe joined the fray. It was like old times again, the three of them, and just like always, he made the first move, throwing his spare dagger at the Fear cre-
- no, it had been stronger than the other creatures and there were three of them. Why was this one just waiting there for them to attack it?
There was no time for second thoughts, even his usual annoyance at Profe's etiquette with women was second to the situation at hand. "Then let's make this <******** count." ((OOC: HP: 40/40Effect: Barrier Daggers Round: 0/2))

** Torch Effect instead of roll ** Mark hit the ground before he even knew it, blood trickling between his fingers from an unfortunate scrape. He couldn't hear anything, he couldn't hear himself think, just the noise, the awful noise- But when it died down he could leap up shakily, whip out his torches, and find his way to C's side like filings to a magnet. As a Life Hunter he knew the benefits that watching and waiting provided, and hung back, letting a torch hiss and crackle to life in that safe blue glow. He had no hands free to grip C's one last time in a reassuring squeeze, he didn't dare take his eyes off the remaining shadow for even a moment, but he passed the torch's flames along the weapons at her sides. It was cold in New York in December, but there was an even worse chill permeating everything. s**t just got real.(( HP:: 40/40 Torch: 0/2 START @ Mark & C Damage: N/A Collective: N/A ))

Jess had just returned to the front line when all hell seemed to be unleashed. She Dropped her gun. Fell to her knees and clenched her ears tightly at the ungodly sound. Even when it faded away she still seemed stunned. It was a while before she even caught a glimpse of the bus that just hit her. Well. One of them anyway. The one nearest the portal. Her jaw dropped. Everything else, the banter the distrust, it all seemed meaningless now.
"Already?" She knew damn well this wasn't anything like the creatures they were just fighting.
Struggling she got off her knees, grabbing her gun in the process and swinging it around to aim and fire. It hit and hit hard. Much to her very short-lived amusement. The sound which followed made her reel backwards. She couldn't even smell straight after something like that.
That bad feeling again.
This time, it wasn't going away.

"WHAT THE HELL WAS THAT?" Cliff called out to Gear as he completely missed hitting the monster. Not that it mattered much -- within a few moments, it had all but dissipated in a hiss of black smoke and a pained scream as the hunters surrounded it, nailing it time after time with their weapons. Besides, it seemed there had been extenuating circumstances, so he couldn't blame the poor kid too much. Watching as his lasso fell to the ground as the last tangible essence of the creature vanished, the older man sighed a little, rubbing the back of his neck and rolling a shoulder. It had been stronger than it looked -- his shoulder ached a little more now, not only from where he'd fallen on Gear before, but where the monster had writhed in the grip of the lasso, threatening to dislocate his shoulder. He'd have to head over to the hospital tent, before something else happened.
Leaning down a little to take hold of a little more of the length of rope, the southern boy had been just beginning to wind the lasso back into a coil as a sandy-haired man meandered towards him, looking like he didn't have a lick of fear for whatever was coming out of that portal. For a second, Cliff paused, quirking an eyebrow as he stopped just behind him, his eyebrows lifting higher as he realized the guy was patching him up. Still, he didn't disturb him, not moving an in until the hunter was done, looking down at the bandages that covered some of his wounds before glancing back at the other guy, giving him an appreciative nod. "Thanks man," offers Aiden, clapping him on the shoulder as the other hunter meandered away nonchalantly.
And that's when all hell broke loose.
Later on, Cliff would be thankful that Aiden had healed him -- he hadn't had nearly enough time to head over to the medic tent, much less get patched up in time. The blonde had just wrapped the last coil of his runic weapon around his fist when the screeching first started to fill the air, drawing his attention back to the portal. At first, it hadn't been so bad -- annoying, but not so awful that it was debilitation. His muscles tensed, ready for whatever was about to come through, already stopping mid-motion as he'd moved to put his lasso away. But as the seconds passed, it got worse and worse, until it reverberated in his skull, ricocheting like a small metal ball in his head, turning his brain to mush. Grunting, Cliff dropped to his knees where he stood, his palm slapping hard against his temple as he squeezed his eyes shut, trying to make the pain disappear. Except nothing would help. Without even realizing it, the runic hunter had begun to groan, trying to drown out the sound as he dropped from his knees to his forearms, slowly lowering his head to touch the gravel. He was so tempted to rub his forehead against it, grind his face into the street, just to try to quell the pain.
He had just barely managed to lift his head as the floating creatures came through the portal, their white spheres illuminating everything far brighter than even the sunniest day. Green eyes narrowed to slits to try to see it, flicking between the three, then just the two as they began to float through the pool of hunters. Every instinct told him to get up, to fight, but Cliff found he couldn't move -- even as one of the things drifted towards him, it was all he could do to watch, every muscle in his body going rigid as the feeling of ice swept through his vein as it brushed by. That didn't mean he wasn't going to be saucy at it though,
"What are you, a dementor? This ain't Harry Potter," he half-joked, grimacing a little his voice not holding an ounce of mirth. Struggling to his feet, he touched his fingers to his temples again, feeling the pain lessen a little as the two got further and further away. His head still ached, but he could stand now with relative ease, only swaying a little as he got his bearings.
Zoey's voice brought him back to the present, his eyes snapping open as he dropped his hand, looking around for her. Zoey -- she was ok. Worry he hadn't known he'd been carrying lifted from his shoulders as he saw her, looking fierce with her torch in her hand. At her suggestion, the southern boy gave her a determined smirk, nodding sharply. "Yes ma'am," he replied, already in motion as the girl started to spray liquid fire at the creature. Kicking off the gravel, he circled around until he was at a ninety degree angle with the other Death hunter, out of the creature's range of vision before he started to unfurl his lasso, circling it around his head. The creature, however, seemed far too preoccupied with Zoey to notice -- by the time it noticed the other hunter, the lasso had already lashed out at it, striking like a snake to grab it around it's wrists.
"And, my friends, that's what we in the South like to call a 'Hog-tie,'" Cliff half whooped, pulling hard with his entire body weight to keep it still.Effect: Chains -- Cliff and Zoey Duration: 0/2

((Sacrificing Roll to place barrier on Zoey and and Mya)) Mya made a gagging noise in the back of her throat, after handing back Lucas's gun and being subject to yet more of his verbal garbage. When he took his shot and the recoil blasted his shirt off however, her eyes may have lingered on his chest longer then they really should have. And she had to fight not to giggle. Dear gods, what was wrong with her? Julien, remember Julien! Right! She looked away from Lucas, pulling out her dagger and pointing it at Zoey. "Here's your buffer, girl!" And with that she drove the dagger into the ground between them, grunting with the effort, and effectively placing a barrier around each of them. Zoey wasn't about to go all equal rights against Lucas's suggestion to shield the women; all the buffs they could get were great. "Thanks," she told Mya, game face grin going. "Now, watch this . . ."
She stepped to the edge of the barrier, cocked the hand torch with both hands towards the creature's "face" (made all the easier by Cliff's lasso-ing), and let off another jet of flame.
"PLAN BACON IS A GO!" she shouted, a new fire in her eyes. Old Zoey seemed to be coming out again. "LET'S START COOKIN', GUYS, YEEEHAW!"
Eat your heart out, Cliff.

** I FORFEIT MY 2d12 roll to use Weighted Chain Runic Weapon** Before she could make any quips in response to the arguing hunters, everything felt fifty times worse than her worst hangover. Her eyes felt like they might be bleeding, and she was almost certain that her eardrums were. When she finally made herself stand, she was shivering, fighting to keep her knees from buckling and sending her back to the ground. "I got you," she mumbled, activating her weapon's runic ability, connecting their weapons with its power. They looked so badass. All of the cans of whoopass had been opened. All of them. And then C just ******** knew she had to pose next to her brother as she waited to catch her breath for a proper attack. All they needed was Selena to complete the beautiful trifecta. Selena shuddered, emerging from her hiding place in the healing station. She may or may not have been cowering there-- bravado or not, she had always preferred to be ...out of the line of fire. Which was inconvenient given Red Fish and Blue Fish were, you know. Protective weapons.
But at least they shot normal bullets, she supposed.
Running out and screeching a little at the shadowy figure, she unholstered the bitches, closed one eye to aim, and shot.
She would have time to find her retarded posse later.
Fortunately, C had just given her a buff as she shot, and it was some pretty amazing bullet time s**t right there, let me tell you. Red Fish's bullets hit the shadowy figure dead on-- damaging it...you know.
A smidgen.

Oh delightful! The Fear hunters were back.
Having them back meant a number of things. Either they had solved things from their end, which was highly unlikely given the shadows were still there and standing quite firm, (if you could even call it standing) or they were about to be followed by the most unholy surge of darkness they would never get to see again.
Dylan stuttered to himself quietly a brief prayer. If only it weren't against regulations to write verses on your cheeks. Maybe those sleeved tattoos under his clothes or that tattoo of a baby's face on his chest would be good luck charms in the end.
Mr. Weaver brought his chains around once more to strike but he could see the barrier Julio had given him diminishing.

(( Wolf entering from Labyrinth ))
It was complete mayhem when Wolf appeared in the Square again. Skoll imediately started snarling orders in his head, and it took Wolf a second to get his barings. There was a gigantic black thing. And the Hunters were fighting it.
He didn't wait a second longer.
He surged through the crowd and started slamming Skoll in where he could. Which was difficult, concidering the amount of people.
Something smells wrong, pup, commented his weapon. Wolf frowned but continued his assault for now.

Lowe came from the portal, away from those monsters, only to find himself looking face to face with a beast that would run his blood cold. He had left behind what could have been thought to be a Horseman's soldiers only to find himself (and the others) facing one head on. In his hands, Afzal all but moaned.
YES YES YES. DIG INTO IT, DIG DIG DIG. The Voulge had been so mad that they had fled the other scene, but his spirits were up and high now that they'd returned to a battle. DIG DIG DIG DIG
"Understood." Lowe moved into a better position and swung Afzal, preparing for a strike, when the arrow still lodged in his shoulder decided to tear deeper into his flesh with the moment. He groaned and dropped to one knee, once again depending on Afzal for support. This...this was not going so well.
