In life, there are some fights one shouldn't pick. One of them includes one with a raging salamander.
Going back to Halloween with a purpose in mind wouldn't be running away, no. But Edel was running away from Vieve alright – she hadn't forgotten the mean punch she got just a while ago.
Still, not the point.
“I-I'm sorry about earlier” she began apologetically. “I didn't mean to get so worked up but-” Edel left that sentence there hanging, she didn't need to explain what she was worried about.
“About the pumpkin pill....” she continued, eyes shifting down to the floor now. “I'm sorry about giving it away, it was.....selfish, yes.” the gap between the sentence and the last two words were meant to be filled with something else but now wasn't the time to say it.
“And yes, I don't think he would.” she said plainly.
The frost demon looked at the three of them uneasily, unsure if she should continue.

Lattice was at least open minded to what the ghoul had to say about everything taking them all in and digesting them carefully before she offered Edel a small smile, "I can forgive you and I do forgive you."
Forgiveness was important or so Lattice was slowly but surely learning while dealing with others, she had to seek forgiveness of her own eventually. Whether or not Vieve or Lizzy would forgive Edel was up to them but Lattice was willing to give Edel a chance.
"I am just happy that you...came back. I was worried that you left us. Not that I would blame you if you did," She added quietly. It was dangerous in here and would no doubt become more dangerous as time went on.

"Yay Vieve!" She cheered for the ghoul when she emerged from the maze, impressed that she made it out this quickly. She was also secretly happy that she had destroyed part of the maze, especially since it had been a right bother. Part of her was still wondering about the mysterious Lizzy look-a-like from the maze, but she decided not to ask about it - it seemed like a bad idea.
When Lattice mentioned Edel again, she decided not to say anything; Vieve seemed to listen to the engraver, so she left it up to her to calm her down where needed.
She was still surprised - in a good way - when their last member joined them though.
"All water under the bridge now," She smiled at Edel, sharing Lattice's sentiments. She took hold of Vieve's hand, trying to calm the ghoul down, "Let's put everything behind us for now, alright? We need to stay together if we hope to find Professor Red to deliver that message, as well as to minimize the chances of us being caught." Again.

Vieve had to grudgingly concede that perhaps Edel had come to her senses, and she left it at that. The girl had apologised, after all.
Not that that changed what she'd done. Refusing to acknowledge Edel still, the salamander let Lizzy take her hand anyway. She wasn't into the whole touchy-feely thing, and neither did she particularly care for Lizzy's attempt at peace-making, but the girl did have one point.
They needed to find Professor Red, wherever she was.
"So where are we headed? As far as I can tell, there's no way out of here."

Lattice seemed to relax a great deal when it seemed there would be no further issue between Edel and Vieve - it was like they were whole again just like that. The Engraver smiled slightly as she shrugged her shoulders in response to Vieve, "I guess we just wait for now, who knows what will happen around here."
Just hopefully they wouldn't be attacked by Hunters again.
"We will just wait ... together." Lattice said the word with a near sort of reverence as if it had a lot of meaning to her and in honesty - during the entire ordeal it had.

CONGRATULATIONS! Your group has successfully completed the puzzle! Please wait while I prepare your next room. In the meantime, your group is cleared to go visit your Hub! Don't forget your entrance/exit posts! I will quote-summon the group back here when the next puzzle is ready. Please return once that happens as you cannot enter/exit the group threads in the middle of a challenge. Thank you!

She hadn't told them about the bell or the boogeyman's advice.....yet. Yes it might be better to go slow with that right now – her group mates, while ostensibly abated, are likely still mad at her.
With the exit appearing, the frost demon thought that it would be for the better if they headed out first, then talk. Argh, honestly, she didn't quite know what to do. It was all very disconcerting.
“Let's....head out first, shall we?” she gestured awkwardly at the door. It might seem a little strange that the frost demon who was last to come in, was first to get out of the room.

It was difficult to say exactly how long they had been there. "They" being two statues made out of copper, standing on raised pedestals set between two doors. The statues had the bodies of dogs and the heads of lions; they were Fu Dogs. Each one wore a different collar decorated with skulls; one had a collar that was red, the other a sky blue. Each Fu Dog had one paw raised, resting on a sphere. Or is it a skull? It is difficult to tell. They move, their paws tightening around their treasures as you approach. "Well met," they greet in unison. "Your trials are almost over, Students of Amityville. What you have gone through is a sample, a mere taste of what is expected of some on a daily basis. But you are not here for that." They fall silent, looking down and studying each student carefully. The one with the light blue collar speaks first. "Your last trial awaits you. It will not be easy." "You will get to choose," the red collared one says, "This is a choice for each of you to make." "Not as a group." "Not together." "But individually," the two say in unison gravely. "You may only go through one door. Once you have made your choice and gone through it, you cannot back out." "The doors are locked for now," the one with the red collar says. "They will unlock when the time is right." "For now, consider your options," the sky blue collared one says. "You may change your mind before entering, but once you go through a door you cannot return." The statues fall silent as they exchange a glance with each other. "To determine which door you pick, please tell us... Do you prefer to follow the beaten path, or forge a new one?
Follow the beaten path.
Create a new path.
Quote: THE OOC:Welcome to End Game! There are two final events that are going on: the one you pick will determine WHICH event you go to. You must pick an option before Sunday October 30th at 11:59 pm. Failure to pick an option will prevent you from taking part in the finale! Finale threads themselves will open on Saturday; you may post in a finale thread if you see your name listed there. If you do not see your name listed, please wait for Marushii, lizbot, or chibizoo to add it. When you pick an option, please state it in BOLD ORANGE so I can see it at a glance! You may change your mind as often as you like until you enter a room. One you enter a room you cannot go back. You may only post in a finale thread if your name is listed there. Hope you guys are excited as I am for the finale! Until then, please use this time to finish your room's puzzles and get in your last boo fights! Not in your group thread? Please make your choice in OOC so I know where to put you! If you have a question, please ask it here. In addition, the finale threads will be posted as separate threads. "I'm going after Edel first," She stared at the two statues before exiting the room; she already knew which path she preferred... But she wanted to go after the frost demon first. There would be time to pick their door, but she had a bad feeling regarding whatever was behind that door.
She just wanted to go relax somewhere - namely the hub - first.

Lattice was a little startled when she noticed the statues. She wasn't sure what to make of it and Edel had already left. Lattice had been about to leave when it all went down and it caused her to hesitate a moment or two before she looked over at Lizzy when she spoke up.
..Would it be alright for them to come back later?
Then again Edel needed to know if she didn't already so it was fair enough that Lattice's sense of duty to her group took over and soon she moved to follow Lizzy glancing back at Vee hoping the other ghoul followed after.
This question required some thought.

((ENTERING FROM HUB))
Lattice made her way to the room her mind and heart heavy despite the words of hope she sprouted. Was there nothing anyone could do? Even opening the doors struck her as a bit silly and weird. No there was only one thing she could do right now and that was to go back to the room and stand in front of the statues and make a decision.
As she entered the room she stared at the statues for a long moment not sure what to answer them with. If she had been Needle she would want to create her own path but she wasn't exactly Needle and even then her Sister would probably try to goad her in some way but Needle wasn't here.
The only one that could make the decision was her and she needed to make it for herself not anyone else and not based on the wishes they might have for her. It needed to be something that Lattice could stand up for and the longer she ponder it the more it became clear. Ever since coming to Amity she had been carefully treading along a new path, one that was no longer familiar to her. Thus far she'd survived and it brought her so many wonderful things: friends that she would die for if given the chance, a view of the world outside the Manor, and even a chance to experience some things.
Clinging to the old was slowly but surely not becoming an option. Walking on a beaten path sounded safer but it wasn't exactly what she stood for anymore.
Lattice parted her lips and spoke up, "I will create my own path."

[Enter from hub!]
Lizzy was admittedly a little shaken from the accounts given by Herryk, but she knew her choice - it had been an easy choice for her, given the way she had been brought up. She had always been encouraged to try new things, although the boundaries set by her mother were sometimes stiffening, as much as she loved the woman. However, being left alone in school, without her mother there to supervise her every move, she had been trying one new thing after the other... And she had a lot of fun in the process.
Walking the beaten path would probably be easier and safer, seeing how it had already seen many travelers... But if everyone walked down the same path, then there would be no new paths to discover and share!
"I will create my own path too," She nodded, looking determined as she joined Lattice's side; whatever laid ahead might be foreign and scary and even dangerous, but... She just didn't want to live life plainly anymore.

(( entering from the hub )) Edel was treading rather gingerly after feeling weakened from the use of the bell in the hub. Upon entering, she noticed the two Fu Dogs that sat beside two doors. So that's what she had missed when she left earlier on. The Beaten path or the one Untrodden. A light smirk spread across the ghoul's face. She knew which one she was going to choose.
It all made sense now that she thought about it. Her decision to come to this school had already set her on the path untrodden. The decisions she made, even during the field trip had been nothing short of controversial or unorthodox. Why stop at it now.
It surprised her at first that Lizzy and Lattice had picked the same choice she had decided on – then again, not really. She had never expected them to have been so brave, to rush back into the fray without a second thought. It wasn't that she felt ashamed for not doing the same, each to his own, she wouldn't have done anything different. It was just....an interesting moment of realisation, perhaps she now knew the two of them a little better.
“I must admit, I think I have underestimated you” she said quietly, referring to the two of them.
Turning to the Fu Dogs, the ghoul was ready to give her answer.
“I'm not quite a fire demon, but I guess I'd be a trailblazer too.” Perhaps being dazed and weakened was prompting such unnecessary exposition.
“I'll create my own path.” she said with a sense of finality.
Lizzy, Lattice and Vieve were all here – perhaps now would be the time to tell them everything, though she had originally intended to do so in the hub. Edel lifted up the bell, ringing it while she explained, mostly for Vieve's sake.
“While I was....out there, I spoke to the boogeyman.” she didn't feel like repeating the contents of that conversation again, but she did so anyway. “He gave me this, along with some advice.....” Edel figured Vieve might probably punch her again if she mentioned the part about avoiding the false reapers as far as possible. But there was still one bit of advice that was still applicable.
“There is strength in numbers, he said.”
The frost demon didn't feel like talking anymore. Channeling the last bit of FEAR within her, she rung the bell again. She could feel her FEAR shield disappear as she stumbled towards one of the walls for support. Hopefully, there would be some debt repaid with this.

Vieve stayed behind, though the others left, just staring. The answer to her was obvious- to create a new path. And yet, while she was still contemplating what path it was that she would be creating, the others came back- and picked the same choice.
Part of her wanted to take the other option, then, just to be rebellious. After all, if everyone chose to create their own paths, wouldn't the beaten path be left empty? Couldn't she just refurbish that one?
But fundamentally, that choice went against everything she believed in. There was no point in relying on whoever had made the beaten path- for all she knew, there were pitholes in it.
"I'll create my own path," she said simply, looking straight at Edel. Perhaps it was a way of thanking her, perhaps just another challenge.
A sort of, "my path will be better than yours". Or something.

Though everyone had picked the same answer each was on their own path.
Lattice tilted her head toward each of her group mates and then when Edel spoke up she focused mostly on her tilting her head a bit to the side and then the bell rung again her body tensed and her eyes closed behind her mask, healing came along with chaotic memories once again though when Edel stumbled toward a wall for support she didn't even have to think twice on her decision as she moved toward the girl.
"Where will our numbers be if one of us crumbles away?" she said softly with a small smile, "silly ghoul."
Reaching into her pocket she found the pumpkin pill there and then reached to take Edel's hand so she could press the pill into the palm of the frost demoness' hand, "Take the pill and heal yourself. You have gone above and beyond to help everyone you could now."
After the pill was pressed into Edel's hand she wandered over the door and exited to her fate
