Everything is red....
....in the eyes of a demoN Hiru followed casually behind her. He was lighter, hardly making any noise at all as he walked. It was as if fifty pounds had been lifted off his shoulders. He was certainly lighter than someone his size should have been. "If you are looking to blame your mistakes on a name, then 'Hiru' I believe is this one's name. Yes, 'Hiru' will do nicely." He then traded his expression for one more cynical. "However, if you are so privy to mistakes, mortal, perhaps you should reconsider your motives." For some unexplained reason, the demon had decided to pretend as if nothing was out of place. The simple fact that it was here in this world, physically, was enough to throw off the balance of the entire dimension. His body had placed an excessive amount of energy within this world. One wrong turn of events could easily bring cataclysmic disturbances in this space-time.
The demon had no reason to worry of such things. It found amusement in disruption, especially when discovering what makes mortal things tick. If it knew how, it would say something to anger Eda so that she would attack Hiru's body. It would simply throw into her path pieces of his body that had yet to be replaced. As for his voice, the space inside of Hiru's throat was completely full of the demon's tentacles. It was able to speak because it was sending waves of sound mimicking Hiru's vocal frequencies outward from the back of the throat, and it was pulling his face and tongue to make the different sounds. It was exceptionally skilled at controlling physical speech. Certainly, it had done this several times before. Indeed the voice was Hiru's, yet at the same time, it was not.
As for her "supplies", the demon almost wanted to laugh. But it was aware of her ignorance toward Hiru's current situation. In the state his body was in, no food could even penetrate the place where his esophagus used to be to even be digested. The demon itself was now sustaining this body, using Hiru's spiritual essence to power the machine. The reason it needed his was because of certain fundamental laws - Hiru's essence would be hard to work on a body different from his own. This is why spectral posessions often end badly.

"Hiru, eh? Hmph. So be it." Eda continued walking. Her well trained feet made no sound, though that was partially because of her small frame. This one's name? Eda asked herself. Her skeptisicm was growing. But she wasn't about to start a fight here. Not only did she not want to be caught by the soldiers, she was beginning to wonder if he was actually a friend. And if he was a foe, she would probably have a tougher battle than usual ahead. Though she was in her element, the tall, close, trees and the growing shadows. It was the kind of place she enjoyed. Not only to walk through, but to hide, and to fight. Mortal. That was another word to tip her off. She felt her shoulder's roll a bit. They were tensing, getting ready for a fast, getting ready to move quickly. She forced her body to remain calm. She was getting angry, And that was something she absoluly couldn't deal with right now. "Motives for what? Dare I ask. You, Hiru, don' know anything about what I'm doing here. And I'm not worried about making any mistakes. I can watch my own back perfectly fine. Every step I make is intentional. I just don't think I can say the same thing about you. With the way you're talking to me, like I'm some sort of trash, I can't say that I'll bother watching to make sure that you're alright at all." Eda shrugged. "Just a fair warning." Liars are all around you... ...Can you tell the difference?

Everything is red....
....in the eyes of a demoN
Hiru continued on, walking as lightly as Eda. He tilted his head back, looking up to the canopy, yet continued walking as quietly as ever. The demon was not looking through Hiru's human eyes. It had no need for them. Although it had been moving them around like a human's, that was only for social purposes, specifically in communicating with this girl. It cared not whether she knew. Her knowledge would change nothing. As the demon assessed the situation they were in, it became less and less concerned with concealing its identity.
"I will sustain it myself." Once again, it spoke truthfully, yet left so many holes to be filled. For example; by 'sustain', the demon was referring to its ability to keep its soul, as well as Hiru's soul, tied to this physical body, keeping Hiru's soul from being dragged into hell. As long as some piece of it remained, the Death Keeper could rebuild his body, using merely the essence of his spirit to power the humanoid shell. By 'it', the demon was simply referring to the body in which it was currently residing. The shell, kept exactly the same down to the very last hair. No muscle tone was added, no change in height or breadth. It was Hiru's body, just.... not, Hiru's body.
Now, there was one detail that, not necessarily concerned the demon but, it was interested in knowing. After all, it was the only detail that seemed to matter at this point, to even be of any relevance to their situation. "So, where is the space you are leading it to?" The demon was so used to its own world that it often uses words that may seem unusual to the common mortal. It had said 'space'. This was not something that would give any clues as to what kind of being it was. The term simply meant to the demon the equivalent of something like, 'area', or 'place' to a human, only in a much more general sense. The word ‘space’ covered everything in the living universe, since the spirit ‘realm’ was just so much different from the living world. In the spirit realm, there was no such thing as ‘space’, as there was no need to move discriminately of the energy around you.
The demon saw the world through such a different set of eyes than those of the living. Space, time, matter, spirit, it was all energy that took up space. Yet, it was all connected, tied together in ways that the living too often misunderstood, or simply passed without knowing. If a single human knew just half the knowledge that the Death Keeper knew about human abilities, about energy and how to guide it, that person could become a god in their world.

It, it, it. Everything he said was laced with the word It. Eda was next to convinced now that this was not Hiru, it was a forien invader in his body. But what was she to do? She had no way to kill it, nor did she know anything about it. She was just kind of... letting it follow her. It was a bit unnerving, how he was following her. Foe? She was starting to believe so. "Not very far, anymore. It's an old campsite a group of soldiers used before. It has a hut, a place to contain a fire, and if we're lucky there's food and weapons around there. Undetected, as far as I know." Eda stopped, her hands on her hips. "Here we are." If you just glanced, the would see a clump of bushes and trees, and a cluster of rocks. But if you looked closer, you would see the well hidden hut in the bushes and trees, and the rocks could be easily moved to for a fire pit. In fact, that's what Eda staretd to do, move the rocks into a set circle. "Home sweet home to people like me." She said idoly. Liars are all around you... ...Can you tell the difference?

Everything is red....
....in the eyes of a demoN
”Undetected….” Hiru watched what she was doing with little amusement. It tired of its hosts being treated like living things, still needing to be nurtured and pampered like a child. Mortals, they were such spoiled things for what will someday linger no more. It was painful to watch something struggle to return to the source. The human tendency to resist inevitability was the least tolerable of traits the demon had come to know. However.... this human it had found now was.... different. It wasn’t struggling. Its body had died, but its soul had been taken before it could wander back to the source. The process involved something mortals call “pain”, a thing they regularly remind the demon of having to suffer. Still, Hiru didn’t budge.
Hiru sat there in the back of the demon’s mind, watching everything quietly through the demon’s eyes. He wasn’t fighting the demon. Had he accepted the fact that he wasn’t in control anymore? This intrigued the demon, and it turned inward, revealing itself to Hiru in its true form. The image Hiru saw when he ‘looked up’ was a red skull, no bigger than his own. It was almost transparent, glowing in the form of a specter. His mental image stood up to face the skull, more curious and hopeful than anything, let alone fear, or anger. He ‘spoke’ in the only way a spirit could speak to another spirit. ”Are you letting me back in?” An odd thing to say to one who had just recently stolen your body.
The demon paused. It had not been expecting a reaction like this. The fact was, it had indeed meant to give him his body back. But, it wanted to see how he would try to escape its grasp. Instead, he was completely happy just to have his body back at all. Not only that, but he had known the whole time. It was amazed at his ability to maintain awareness this entire time. This boy…. He had some strange power. It was coming from…. His necklace? ”Interesting….” The demon decided that this would be much more interesting to watch unfold.
The demon sank into the floor, and Hiru’s mental image of himself faded into the darkness. Soon, Hiru was once again looking out behind his own eyes. He lifted his right hand into the air in front of him, looking down at it and balling it into a fist. After a short moment, he remembered where he was, and he dropped his hand. He looked over at Eda, watching her do whatever it was she was doing. Just watching her, nothing more. It didn’t matter to the demon whether his body had shelter from the elements, or whether it had food. Solid nourishment was no longer a necessity for Hiru, and the elements were a thing that would affect him no more. That is, except for the rain….
Hiru’s eyes had changed once again, also. Instead of the red they had been, or the natural gold from earlier, they were varying shades of grey and green. There was also a hint of light pink in there. These colors were coming from Hiru’s surroundings. No longer able to retain a natural color of their own, Hiru’s irises had begun to take on the hues of their surroundings. They had become extremely reflective, like millions of tiny mirrors scattered about under the surface. To look out from them was unlike anything he had ever experienced before. Never had the world been so vibrant, so detailed as this. Especially Eda, with her living tissue and vibrant clothing. She was almost.... beautiful.

Eda quickly moved all the stones back into teh circle, rooting through the leaves in the center for anything to start a fire. "Oafs. Taking all the matches. Apparently they're too stingy for their own good." Eda muttered crossly. She straightend, her hands on her hips. "Speaking of stingy..." She began, looking over her shoulder. "Hey you. I know I owe you for saving my life and all. But get off your lazy butt and help me for once, alright? Seriously. I don't tolerate freeloaders. You know what I do with freeloaders?" Eda turned compleatly towards the boy, her arms folding across her chest. "I use 'em as bait while I escape somewhere safe. Now go make yourself useful and gather wood or something. Really now." Eda had started to move again while she talked, picking up a long, thin stick. Ever though the hut was hidden from soldiers, she was almost positive bats had made their roost in there since anyone was there last. She gave it a snap, a satisfied smile on her face as it whistled through the air, slapping the groudn. "Thi'll work quite nicely." She glanced over at the boy, as if she was intending on using it on him instead of the bats. What he didn't know wouldn't kill him. Liars are all around you... ...Can you tell the difference?

Hiru looked at Eda, watching what she was doing. He was eager to finally do something, especially having gotten his body back. But, he couldn’t really understand what she was doing. He stood there watching her, staring blankly as if his mind was off in space somewhere. He hadn’t been able to associate her actions with any kind of possible outcome. It was as if his brain had been warped. Also, once again, he didn’t understand a single thing she had said. Without the help of the demon, Hiru was completely lost in this world.
Finally, once she had told him to do something, the demon translated for him, speaking to him in thought, ”She wants you to collect material.... wood, for a fire.” Hiru’s face immediately lit up with excitement. He spun around, taking off into the woods at full-speed. He had been so happy just to have his body back that naturally, he wanted to be able to do something with it. So off he ran, sprinting through the woods. For a long moment, there was only silence while he was gone. Less than a minute later, he came flying back through the woods carrying the bottom half of a tree on his back. Just like that, he tossed the tree half on the ground next to the hut. There he stood next to the tree, a big, stupid smile on his face as if waiting for her to give him his next task.

Eda rolled her eyes, moving towards the cabin. "That should keep him busy." Eda would never undestand men. One moment, they were being the biggest jerks immaginable, and the next like a dog, eager to please and begging for scraps. Eda leaned the stick against the hut, working on picking the lock. She had done it so many times, she could probably do it blindfolded with her hands tied, and she quickly had the door open. Eda jumped a bit as something landed heavily on the ground. She turned, her hand on her knife. Only to see Hiru, next to what appeared to be half of a tree. She rubber her face with both hands. "Why did I have to enlist the help of a nitwit?" She groaned. Her removed her hands from her face. she put one hand on her hip, and with the other she grabbed the stick, so she could get to work clearing out those bats. "It needs to be cut up. Duh. You can't put a tree in a fire pit. What kind of idiot are you? Have you never made a fire before or something? Honestly!" Eda was actually wondering how he got that thing here. It was huge, and no doubt heavy. Just add that to the mental list of things this boy did that worried her. Eda sighed, stepping into the hut, leaving the door open. "C'mere you little devils." She grumbled, clutching the stick tight in her hand. She needed to take her anger out on something, as well as get these stupid things out of here for a while. Everything is red....
....in the eyes of a demoN Hiru's expression gradually softened after hearing the demon's translation of what she had said. Not that he was hurt by it, but he truly did not know what he was doing. He felt stupid. He was this undead kid, practically immortal, and here was this girl who had asked for his help. All his book smarts added up to nothing here. He didn't even know how to throw some branches together to make a shelter. Hell, Hiru prefered the rain, anyway. He would much rather walk in the rain by himself than sit under a roof, hiding from the water. He simply didn't understand people's disliking of the rain.
After Eda went back inside, Hiru turned to face the log. How would he be able to give her what she'd wanted? He didn't know the first thing about cutting wood, nor did he have the tools to do so. However, while he was sitting there, wishing he could be of some help to her, his body suddenly began to move of its own. He bent down at the bottom-end of the tree and shoved his hands inside as deep as he could get them. His arms burst straight forward, tunneling into the tree. Only, they weren't his arms. They were two red tentacles, each one covered in the black sludge that Hiru had been purging earlier. Once they apeared out of the other end of the tree half, they exploded in all directions, splintering the tree with a deafening crrrack that echoed out through the forest.
Hiru's arms quickly retracted back, slowly twisting and thrashing as they morphed back into human-looking arms. Within seconds, his arms were back to normal. A short moment after that, his motor functions had returned. If you could call them motor functions, that is. He lifted his right hand up to eye-level, turning it over and back again. He clentched a fist, then relaxed, slowly lowering his arm back to his side. At last, he was begining to wonder, did he even have control? Or, was the demon simply reading his will and abliging? Was the demon.... replacing Hiru's body with its own?

Sometimes Eda poked the bats, other times she snapped the stick through the air, trying to scare them away. But she made sure not to hurt them. Eda hated to hurt animals that were there before her. They had a claim to their spots, but so often people only pushed them out. She normally let the bats stay in the roof, but she didn’t want Hiru doing one of his odd freak out thing that he did. So away bats, it was. Plus her frustration didn’t make her the most merciful person in the world. A loud crack caused Eda to turn from the task at hand, looking out the door. She muttered crossly. “I swear. If that boy did something stupid…” Eda tossed down the stick, going back through the doorway. There was Hiru, looking at his hand like it had been replaced with an alligator, and the tree, broken and splintered on the ground. She had no clue how he had done it, nor was she sure that she actually wanted to know. Eda leaned on the door frame, telling herself over and over to remain calm. To be rational about this, and to just not ask questions. “You going to stand there staring at your hand, or are you going to stack that wood in the fire pit, buddy?” She asked him, her brows rising. She would watch this time. If he did something inhumanly possible and freaky…. Well, the questions were going to start flying. If not, well, she was going to have to start questioning her sanity. Everything is red....
....in the eyes of a demoN Hiru's head jerked to look at Eda when she spoke. The Death Keeper had known she was there, having sensed her, but Hiru simply wasn't paying attention. His mind was somewhere else entirely. And Eda thought her sanity was questionable. Well, Hiru's insanity might just be contagious, considering his situation. He wasn't even sure that, if the demon wanted something, he would be able to stop it. His sense of self-control was waning, and with it his sense of security.
One of the bats Eda was trying to scare away burst out of the opening in the hut, screeching and flapping frantically as it sped past Eda's head. It was headed straight toward Hiru. Once it reached him, it collided with his left side inside of his open jacket. Hiru stood there watching it as it scrambled through his jacket. He just stared blankly at the creature. He even blinked a few times, as if he were looking at an alien crawling on him with green, slimy tentacles. He didn't know what to mae of the image he was getting, but his eyes saw something other than a bat. Or at least, the kind of bat that he knew. something, probably the demon, was causing his eyes to see things in a completely different light. It looked twisted and deformed, the kind of thing that you get by mixing severe inbreeding birth-defects with a demon straight from Hell. Despite the fact that it sounded like a bat, there was definitely something wrong with this creature. Or, there was something wrong with Hiru. Hiru was guessing that it was probably just him.
Hiru continued to stand still as the bat finally settled inside of his jacket. His skin was ice cold to the animal, which it liked. It was also dark, since the jacket was leather. the rough surface made it comfortable as it burried its head against his back. Hiru wasn't necessarily interested in whether or not his jacket was going to be a permanent home for this thing. Obviously the answer was a "no". His eyes were reflecting the orange sun in the distance. They turned golden like the color of the sun. He wouldn't have known, but they were changing and flickering with each hue of light that reflected within them. They had completely lost their ability to hold a natural color. It was as if billions of tiny mirrors were scattered throughout his irises.
It was getting late, so it was all the better that the human - Eda - get her rest. But wait.... why did Hiru just refer to her as "the human"? Even if it was only in his thoughts, he had never thought to consider someone by that distinction. He may as well have thought of her as an "it". But he would never tell her that. She seemed like she was a cold-hearted survivalist who killed at will. She may have her strong points, and probably knows how to defend herself, but Hiru has been wondering if it's all really just a front she puts up. He looked at her as he thought this. Aside from everything, he was truly being a pain in her a**. Still, he wanted to see if she had a lighter side to her. If somewhere under that fierce exterior, there was just another normal person wishing they could just live their life in peace and be happy. That shouldn't be too much for anyone to ask, should it?
With all these thoughts going through his head, he had forgotten that there was a bat inside his jacket clinging to his back. Hiru was begining to see the world through a whole new set of eyes.

Eda's brows furrowed a bit as the bat climbed into Hiru's jacket. And he just kind of... stood there. She was worried about this kid, really. As much as she liked animals, she wasn't about to let one crawl inside her jacket. If she had a jacket, that was. And the way he was just standing there, obviiously not listening to a word she said. It was infuriating. "Never mind." She grumbled. "I'll do it myself. There's obviously nothing going on in that noggin." Eda sighed, walking over to the pile of tree and rabbing an armful, lugging it to the fire pit. She dropped it next to it, crouching down and aranging it quickly into the perfect fire form. She had grabbed just enough to fill the pit for now. "Now." Eda grabbed two small rocks that she had found while moving the rocks into a circle. "These'll have to do." She sighed. Honestly, she had started a fire with less. But matches were always preferred. Eda stretched a bit before resuming her crouch, striking the rocks together, trying to get them just right, so they would spark. Eda hummed absent-mindedly while she did this. A soft tune, a lullaby, actually. She did this when she was alone. And, even though she wasn't now, it felt like she was alone. Her guards had automaticlly dropped away. "There." Eda sighed as a spark jumped from the flint and stone and onto the pile of sticks. She stood, tossing the stones back on the ground. "Perfect." Everything is red....
....in the eyes of a demoN As Hiru stood there, watching Eda move from the other side of the wall, the bat started squirming under his jacket. He was locked onto Eda, but the Death Keeper inside of him was fixated on the bat. The creature wasn’t welcome after all, despite Hiru’s indifference to it. As Hiru began to walk toward the hut, the Death Keeper opened up Hiru’s back and grabbed the bat, which began to screech and flap frantically before it was consumed into his back, when all was quiet again.
Hiru looked over to the remaining wood. He should help, even if there was a chance he would screw it up. That girl, Eda.... she was a bossy one. Hiru hated being told what to do, but.... he had been away from people for so long, he didn’t mind it. So long as he had someone to talk to, he was happy. Never before in his life had he ever imagined he would be so happy just to see another person. After he died, it changed everything about how he viewed the world. Now, on top of that, his eyes were transformed. Everything just looked.... different.
Hiru entered the hut with a stack of wood under each arm. Even still, there was some left outside. He had been watching Eda from outside, seeing through the wall. But, it wasn’t with his eyes. It was with.... something else? Either way, he didn’t want to tell her for fear it would freak her out even more. He set the wood down on top of the rest of her pile and took a seat across from her on the other side of the fire. When he sat down, all he could do was stare down at the base of the fire. He had finally found someone, and he was making a complete fool of himself.
