You Know What They Say About Guys With Big Ears...
Gabe stretched his long arms to pat the man on the left shoulders with his long fingers. "Well you don't seem evil to me." He said giving a bloody thumbs up to the guy. Gabe wasn't the brightest and it took very little to convince him of something. He pulled his hand back to look up at the capital of Pronta. "Well, my work here is done." He didn't ask the Shade's name due to bad habit nor did he give his own. "I'll see you in the future." The Waktu said as he head back to Pronta for further training. The battle he witnessed made it clear to him that there was still a long way to go.
Nothing. We Just Have Big Ears.

Kumori The Shadow Magistrate ╔══════════════╗
Kumori watched as Gabe was easily convinced that he wasn't evil, nor that he had evil intent. He felt the man pat his shoulder as he turned away and was ready to leave Kumori behind. Kumori took this chance to wipe the small amount of blood off of his tuxedo before he heard the Waktu speak. "Very well... and I can see what your job was." He told Gabe, seeing the pile of Goblins near a church, causing Kumori to chuckle. "Come, I'll accompany you... I have a personal mission to tend to in Pronta anyways." He told Gabe as he stood beside the Waktu, ready to get a move on. Once the Waktu had agreed, they left Vein town to get a move on. (Exits with Gabe)

It hadn't taken them so long to reach the abandoned village. Almost everyone in the village evacuated before the attack, as they were the last to be attacked by Lumirian forces. Cassandra couldn't help but recall the last time she came to Vein Town. The town was wildly popular as the kingdoms most abundant source of various minerals. Surrounding mines made the town a rather smart place to set up, and exports were the town's best means of making money. Lively as ever, Cassandra came to the town with many of her fellow soldiers, assigned to the detail as a healer in case anything went wrong. She remembered the children she met... the families she saw as they paraded around the town, making an appearance to show that the Kingdom of Yuran protected the mine city. It was where she had met Aureus, the gloomy looking Ranger with the warm heart. The city held few, but powerful memories.
Now, the city was empty. Houses were pillaged for what little they had left, mine entrances has been caved in. The Lumirian forced sought not only to destroy the Kingdom of Yuran, but to ensure it's permanent downfall. The attack didn't just destroy a kingdom, it crumbled the Aramilian Empire! Small pets and even animals had been left behind, with the people most likely leaving in a rush. Cassandra looked to her side, finding Auriel beside her. Her face, hardened with resolve, yet bore lips tender enough to kiss. With everything Auriel did, she had always seemed so... sure of her actions. Following suit, Cassandra would try to do the same as she let go of Auriel's hand and walked into the desolate town. There were no blacksmiths working at their forges, no children playing, no sound of ground being broken. The town had seemed like someone had hit pause, freezing everything that was happening. "This town was once full of life... they destroyed that, too." For several minutes, she walked the empty streets until she reached to town's center; the town square. It had once been the center of trade, where she had bought her first long bow. "So many lives... ruined. W-we could've b-been here... to h-help them... the c-children! Their lives uprooted because we couldn't protect them... because they proved how large the gap was between us and them..." Lying to herself and Auriel, Cassandra's eyes, teary eyed as they were, adopted a fierce look gained by watching Auriel so often.
Cassandra continued, finding a ruined bear on the ground, matted and kicked repeatedly. How much this toy must've meant to a child... only to leave it behind. As much as Cassandra desperately wanted to continue, she knew that the search would only bring her heartache. "W-we need to find horses... we can't walk there, it'd take weeks to travel that many leagues. W-we need food and... and water... and... and..." She couldn't continue. Yonder, beyond the small shops, voices were heard. Not one. Not five. Their numbers were impossible to determine, but they were loud. The fact that Cassandra could not sense their intent meant that they must've been over at the entrance where the two of them had just come from. They didn't try to hide the fact that they were around. Their loud voices were proof of that.

Leaving the advent for the second time had been a difficult task, though only physically. Auriel had accepted the quest bestowed upon her and would not fight fate. She was merely glad to have Cassandra along for the journey. Scaling down the mountainside had been less than simple. They moved slowly and it was taxing to keep from falling off the edge. A few times the younger valkyrie would take the other in her arms and free fall for some feet before landing and repeating the process. When they had finally made it to the bottom Auriel bid her home adieu and set it to her back. It had been mutually agreed upon for them to stop in the first town they came across, which would be Vein Town. The smell of battle had drifted upwind and almost immediately had her feeling uneasy. "'To steel yourself against any foe, be it a physical manifestation or the ones that plague your mind, and not be diverted from your path. This is what it means to be brave.'" Auriel recited one of the lessons a matron of the advent had taught her years ago. It had been said to her upon a night where nightmares stirred her from her slumber and always stuck with her. When she brought it to mind it calmed her soul and pushed away the hesitation. She had to repeat it once again when she saw plumes of smoke from still smoldering fires. Before passing through the main road in to the town Auriel cast a sideways look at Cassandra, seeing her own look of wariness reflected back at her. It seemed the first test was already being thrown at them.
No matter how many times she came across it the sight of obliteration never came painless to her. Her gaze crossed over every vision of horror there was to see; desiccated corpses, ashes of homes, remnants of a once happy life. The sudden release of her hand had Auriel looking to Cassandra and watching the woman walk in silence. Not a word had been shared between the two since they passed through the town, and nothing had to be said. What one was feeling the other was as well, that much was plain to see. The way Cass picked her way through the streets let Auriel know that she had been here before. The thought brought dismay to her. Maybe there had been people she had known that perished, if so this path had been chosen poorly. Subconsciously she placed a hand over her chest, as if the pressure would stop the ache in her heart. That hand balled in to a fist when she saw the hardened look in her friend's eyes. Cassandra was trying to keep it together, for who's sake though it was not clear to her. It seemed that the more time they spent together the more alike they became. From little nuances and observations Auriel was learning to be softer, whereas Cassandra seemed to be adapting the impenetrable look of stoicism that the other had perfected. To quell the rising tide of stress bubbling inside of her, Auriel walked over and pushed a strand of golden hair out of Cass's face. She cupped her cheek as softly as she could and smiled somberly. "Take it in slowly, a little at a time. Do not push these emotions away, part of us are still human. What you cannot handle, I shall carry the burden for you." The kindness in her had always been there. Auriel had been a good natured person since she could formulate her own thoughts. After everything that happened though, it had been hard to come by. It felt like in the short time she had known Cassandra she had smiled more than in the past few years. The time between the two was cut short, once again. Voices penetrated the silence, boisterous tones clawing for priority over one another. That kindness quickly drained to a battle-ready look, eyebrows furrowed in focus and a grimness set to her mouth. Auriel reached towards her pack and pulled out her shield. It had been a gift from her father, a shield crafted by the angels themselves. In it's first form it was a tower shield just wider than her body. It was made of some silvery metal with a flared golden feathered design in the middle. Quickly fitting it to her arm Auriel darted to the side, pulled Cassandra in to a nearby building. She had to step over what was left of the frame and pressed the two of them against a standing wall. With one finger pressed to her lips the valkyrie gestured for silence. Both of them would instantly be able to sense evil and see through illusions cast by evil ones. Auriel would feel it in her heart of hearts when even a sliver of their intention was shown. To be on the safe side, they would remain hidden.

As the crowd neared the town square, their voices grew in noise. Though they neared the two, there had been too much chatter to distinguish what they were saying, until the crowd finally stopped, that is. When the rest of the group -- men, women and children alike -- finally filtered into the town's heart, a single voice calmed the uneasy crowd. Breaking through the crowd, the tall, lightly bearded man beckoned for the crowd to silence themselves. It was clear that the man was some sort of leadership figure to the bunch of people. His face, hardened with battle, wounds and scars alike scattered over his blood stained gear. "We suffered greatly today. Lost nearly a quarter of our... forces..." He struggled to say the word as he looked down at the several wounded children who stood before him, and even the many other children who did not survive to abstain any wounds. Perhaps they were lucky. The man did not discriminate when he chose his army, the townspeople knew they couldn't afford that luxury. The term able bodied no longer applied when their very lives were at stake. "I can't give anyone solace, nor can I give you back the lives of your friends, your brothers, your sisters, your mothers and fathers... your children's. Everyone of us has a part to play in this battle. Each and every one of us are just as capable as anyone sent from the capital." With encouraging words, he stared into the hopeless eyes of weapon wielding men, women and children... and he lied to them. "We refused to leave this town because we know that after centuries of attacks and regime changes... we have survived. We will do so again. We will lose many in the process..." His heart ached as he almost casually spoke of his youngest daughter's death on the battlefield, burned and disintegrated into nothing. There was no body or anything to bring back to memorialize her... there wasn't any proof she ever existed except for the memories inside his head. "...but I am certain that either tomorrow or the next day... we will bring it down..." Unable to continue speaking, he waved away the spiritually broken townspeople.
As Cassandra listened intently, her heart began to race at the thought that some of the townspeople were still alive. In her haste, she moved away from the safety of the cover and revealed herself to the man. In the scorched and desiccated town, Cassandra appeared as a beacon of light. Her skin, fairer than anything the man had set his eyes upon. For a split second, he thought he saw his fallen daughter... returning to him as an angel. But the closer he looked, the less he believed it was her. Eager to announce herself to the crushed townspeople, Cassandra saw images of what she could only imagine what looked like a similar view of the people of Pronta City who desperately needed medical attention, but couldn't. Their souls had become too far lost before anything could be done. "M-my name is Cassandra Venarius! I'm a healer from..." She paused as she remembered her fallen kingdom. "...I can help you all! Please, allow me to help you!"
Once they heard the strange voice shouting out to them, the townspeople grew alerted. Not only had did they deal with the beast on one front, but looters from all others. The last time they accepted a stranger into their midst, they lost their sense of security when the stranger turned out to be a thief, stealing what little food they had to share amongst the people left in the town. Soon word spread of Vein Town's vulnerability. Every looter that struck at their resources caused more and more to desert every day. As the crowd grew louder and louder with protest, the man remained entranced as he was before. "Y-you're... a Valkyrie. A VALKYRIE!" He shouted to quell the crowd. A warrior of Vangelism... they had been marked as dead for so long. After the destruction of Pronta, many believed Yuran's forces, those who had not been safely stationed at the south border and who now led the safety camps, to have been wiped out.

The closer the voices got the closer Auriel's hand moved to the shortsword that hung at her side. The gauntlet on her arm quietly slid against the metal of her plateskirt, it's palm glowing ever so slightly. With the smallest exertion of energy a weapon of her choosing would be summoned from from the angel's arsenal. She strained her ears and pushed her sensing abilities to the limits, feeling out for the slightest notion of malevolent intent. The valkyrie leaned to the side, gazing out from the behind the wall to behold a man step forth from the crowd. He quieted them with a raised voice and hands and instantly they fell silent. His speech was short, terse, and reverberated with Auriel. Her jawline would harden as she clenched her teeth, knowing these words to be too similar to the ones her own commanders had given on the battlefield. This town had certainly not escaped the wrath of Zacariah and his horde, but unlike most of Yuran there were others who chose to stay and fight. A little bubble of pride shot up inside of her. Auriel knew that there had to be others not just wanting to reclaim the land, but willing. Still, it would be best if they- Cassandra darted out in to the crowd, letting her emotions get the best of her. Instantly her counterpart was by her side, body poised to react to the slightest provocation. Azure eyes watched the growing crowd carefully. The closer they pressed to the two halflings the closer to Cassandra she moved until Auriel almost stood between them. Her physical being had practically reacted to the situation on its own, years of training and experience replacing rational thought.
Turning her head only slightly to see the cleric's almost pleading face softened Auriel. There had been nothing she could do to quell the rising tide of bodies. Dead piled on one another until veritable fields of death existed, displacing farmlands and homes. The look of remorse hidden in her eagerness made Auriel's heart clench. She had been the same way when Abigail's body laid before her. Over and over again she encased her fallen sister in golden energy, praying to any god who would listen to bring life back to her. That was how the other valkyries had found her; broken. That vast emptiness inside of her was something that Auriel never wanted Cassandra to have to go through. Despite desperately needing to head out on this grand quest she would concede and stay to help. If their help was accepted the two of them would need to recover their energies before setting back out. "Yes, we are Valkyrie. I am Auriel, daughter of the angel Samael. We will do what we can to aid you." Auriel spoke loud to address the entire group, using the common tongue. If her armor and stature had not given it away the voice of command she spoke with probably would. The valkyrie was obviously a soldier in what was left of Yuran's army. Her duty was to serve and protect the people of this land. Standing straight and using a steady gaze, Auriel nodded to the crowd as reassurance. She had dropped the mantle of healer after being unable to save her sister but those arts were far from forgotten.

As the second Valkyrie came to the other Valkyrie's side, the bearded man's face adopted a look of astonishment, though only briefly, How long had these two been around while lives were being taken daily? Where had they been when he had to arm his own daughter for battle? The look of astonishment quickly faded and had been replaced with anger as the two of them decided to show up when half of the town had already given their lives to defend their city. "... You want to help? Help?" A sarcastic chuckle escaped his mouth as he continued. "This morning I abandoned my daughters... I can even say I left her remains! That... that thing destroyed her.!" His body, shaken with anger, tried to continue, but his wounds got the best of him. The man suffered from 3rd degree burns on various parts of his body, as did many of the townspeople. As Cassandra attempted to rush to him, another woman arrived to help the man, allowing him to use her like a human crutch, walking him to a set of wooden stairs in front of a shop. "You can barely stand, Mason..." Without bandages, there wasn't a single thing she could do. Their supplies had been looted long ago, Mason knew that. As severe as his wounds were, the man had to endure. With him gone, the people were goners. They would make the same mistakes as the previous mayor had, who thought they could fight the beast off on their territory. That foolish thought led to the destruction of much of the town.
As much as Cassandra wanted to help the man, he reacted violently towards the Valkyries. His words cut deep as he told them of his daughter's fate. How young had she been? It was a question Cassandra feared to ask the mayor, Mason, fearing that he would verbally lash out at her once more. But as much as Mason wanted to yell at her, her mind would never change. Her resolve had not faltered, nor would it, as she approached the man yet again. This time refusing to allow him to mutter a word before she gently pushed the woman aside, allowing her to fully view the worst of his wounds. Alongside his right leg, his trousers had been burned through, along with much of his flesh, the material had burned into his wound. "I might not have been here to help your daughter, or the others who have perished, but I am here now. You are not the only one to have lost loved ones. I have seen this war destroy those I loved but you don't see me ranting at the first person who asks to be of aid! Regardless of the fact that you want my help or not, I am here. For this town and everyone in it, so I'll be damned if I allow you to prevent me from helping people in need." Angrily, she placed her hand right onto his most severe wound, a feat that visibly caused the man great physical pain. But as fast as she had moved, a bright white light expelled itself from her hand. Beneath her palm, the cells near his wound rapidly multiplied. As the burn on his leg healed, effortlessly, her healing energy spread out to the rest of his body, healing even the most minor of wounds to the greatest. Within seconds, the man would be as unharmed as a newborn baby. "Understand?" She asked angrily before walking away without her answer towards the crowd of townspeople. She beckoned for the villagers to come to her, as she would help as many as she possibly could.
As Mason winced before a wave of calming energy soothed his nerves, allowing for a painless, miraculous healing process, he looked at the Valkyrie with mixed feelings. When he placed his hand where Cassandra had, his leg had been completely healed. No trace of scarring, just a hole in his trousers, much like the rest of his body. Between everyone still alive, Mason withstood the most damage; being at the forefront of the assault, he was lucky to escape with the wounds he had. "Doesn't change anything..." He muttered to himself. With the other Valkyrie, Auriel, still there, Mason approached her. "You and your friend... run now. This isn't your fight. Everyone here is protecting this town because it is their only home. Out there, they would have nothing. We're all going to die here, I hope you know that. I can only keep their hopes up so high with their spirits so broken." Mason being the only one with combat experience, and a proper blade at that, kept many people alive in battle. Prior training from his time in the Yuranian Military ensured that much. But even he would soon perish, at least he'd be with his daughter.

One trait of her kind that always made Auriel shy away from losing control over herself was the sheer fury they could feel. It would bubble inside of her at the slightest provocation. She could feel logical thinking flee her body, overtaken by the single desire for battle. Her hand would make the motion to draw against whoever dared to speak of her or her kind. The valkyrie would become impetuous, a mood that could only be satiated through fighting. How could this man truly believe that they, who had lost so much themselves, did nothing? It infuriated her, which showed when she stood tall and raised her chin ever so slightly. There was a look that valkyrie carried, a haughty one full of pride and judgment. She was searching his soul for the evil that could spur her in to action. The image was clear in her mind, none of the people gathered here could halt her. In one swift bound she could appear before Mason, a stroke as fine as a painter's could cleave his head from his neck. Her muscles flexed at the thought and for the briefest moment Auriel lost herself. She forgot everything her father had taught her about the sanctity of life as her own emotional turmoil spilled over and clouded her mind. But something quelled the rising tide. Deep within the man's heart she found fear, grief, agony, and despair. Auriel swallowed past the lump in her throat and realized that these feelings were the same ones she had within her. As Cassandra rushed forth to aid the man the valkyrie dropped her eyes to the ground, ashamed at forgetting who she was. She clenched her hand around the shield grips and shook off the momentary lapse of self respect. When her head lifted Auriel moved forth with renewed vigor. She pushed through the crowd until she met up with Cassandra. Auriel eyed her work, feeling a rush of excitement at how finely she repaired the man's body. Nothing she had ever done had been so simple and neat. Once again Mason spoke, told them to run and leave so that they could die. Auriel gritted her teeth and slashed a hand through the air. "Enough! We. Are. Not. Abandoning. Any. Of. You. Our home was Pronta City, do you know what is left of that?" She bent down and scooped up a handful of dirt, squeezing it through her fingers until it fell through and was carried away on the breeze. "Nothing. From the moment the horde crossed the border and invaded our nation I have been on the front lines laying my life on the line over and over. My friends are dead, my family, even. There may be little left to protect, but whatever still stands will be protected, by me. I...cannot bring back those who have perished. What I can do is stand between this town and whatever seeks to destroy it. Tell us, what is this beast?" There was certainly no turning back now. It was clear that Cassandra was not going to let this go. Whatever battle that she undertook would automatically become Auriel's.

The responses he received had silenced Mason, and for the first time, he remained that way, refusing to speak another word. Before long, the Valkyries had submerged themselves in the crowd of injured villagers. With their arrival, it had seemed like he had been removed from play. They could do things that Mason himself could not; he could not provide them healing capabilities, nor could he provide them with any real assurance that they would make it through the night. The only thing he could provide was his combat experience, but it that wasn't enough to save nearly as many people as he wanted to. Every blow he landed on the beast would heal before his next. Nothing he could do would ever deal serious damage to it. But as the two set up shop, time flew. As the skies began to darken, many looked to Mason, knowing that soon they would have to throw their lives on the line once more. Standing up for the first time since Cassandra healed him, Mason approached the crowd once more. "Night will fall upon us soon, we need to get ready...We'll march within the hour." His eyes gazed to the two Valkyries, who refused to leave. Perhaps it was a good thing, their willingness to stay and try to fight. But the town was doomed, and it made little sense for the two girls to sacrifice their lives for a home that wasn't their's. Auriel was right, though. All of Yuran was their home, but there were more battles for them to fight. A hopeless one where they had every risk of dying... it wasn't a battle they should try and stay for.
When Cassandra caught the man's gaze, she cared little for it. She was no stranger to battle, even with her limited capabilities. But if there was a battle where children fought, then she would throw herself into the fray. When Mason spoke of getting ready, Cassandra opened her mouth to speak, curious about what had plagued the town. "This... monster. What is it?"Pausing for a long hold, Mason turned away, muttering something that sounded like 'hell'. Worried, she glanced over at Auriel, she needn't say a word. Whatever plagued this town had to be dealt with, and soon. Many thought that they wouldn't see another daybreak. Mothers worried for their children, afraid to send them to battle and afraid to leave them orphaned. Wives worried for their husbands. Siblings, afraid to separate from one another. There was no way either of them were going anywhere without helping the town in any way they could, and if it meant plunging into battle, then they would go with them.
Little time passed before Mason, his gear remained as damaged as it had been. A single blade rested on his belt. Though while everyone readied themselves for battle, Cassandra asked many questions that went unanswered for far too long before her patience wore thin, though before she could open her mouth, Mason took notice. "We don't know what it is. After Zachariah's horde passed through, we were still in the mines. We hid further than what we had ever excavated. We couldn't see anything, but we heard noises. Rumblings, we felt vibrations. When we heard a scream pierce the silence, we knew something was with us... one by one, it picked us off. The rest of us that escaped the cave went back to the town. The Horde was gone, though much of our town was pillaged. The next night... something fast... something strong came out of the main mine entrance. We thought we were safe... it just targeted us in the dead of night. A long night of terror ensued, and it didn't end until daybreak. We knew it would come back the next night, so many of the able bodied men and I went back to the mine. Out of over 40 men, less than 10 of us returned... It wasn't my first choice, but we couldn't allow it to attack us here again. Each night after, we marched to the beast. It'd pick us off easily... it didn't discriminate in who it killed."

All the time standing around had made Auriel restless. She was barely able to stand in one spot for too long and instead took to walking around the area over and over again, always keeping Cassandra in her sights. It was almost like she gravitated around the woman, looking at her every so often to make sure she was okay. It was not that the valkyrie expected the town people to turn on them and harm either one of them, moreso about the energy that she was expending. The more people she healed the more taxed she would become, which was dangerous. All the more dangerous if there was some sort of super beast running around and making meals out of mortals. Trained, and perhaps a bit paranoid, eyes combed the outskirts of all that they could see over and over again. From experience Auriel had learned that many demons chose to attack under the veil of night. The majority of them did not suffer any penalties to the light of the sun. She had always wondered if it was some sort of morale boost, always knowing that Kala was shrouding them in her might. It would be a lie to deny the fact that when the rays of sun broke over the horizon a calming wave always passed over her. Night terrors had always plagued her, haunting images in the shadows and unearthly noises creeping around corners. Yet this was different. Ever since the long and painful war dusk approaching was the signal for another battle. It seemed that had not yet changed. The closer to dusk it became the further agitated Auriel seemed to be. She made sure people were packing their things, readying makeshift weapons and helping people where she could. Here and there she showed people how to create a makeshift bandage, using her bit of medical knowledge to repair lesser wounds. Occasionally she would halt and correct what was clearly an inexperienced farmer playing at soldier on his stance when wielding a spear. The sight before her was pitiful yet humbling. While they surely would not stand a chance against an actual force, their spirit had not been shattered. Every person here was ready to lay down their lives for what they believed in.
When Mason finally got around to speaking Auriel noticed that Cassandra was nearly as irritated as she was. The entire day had been wasted when they could have been preparing for whatever horror that had been released upon them. She quickly closed the distance between herself and the leader of the town, picking her way through the crowd on long, graceful legs. With arms folded over her chest she listened carefully to every detail, trying to ascertain what it was that terrorized them so. It was hard to listen to. When she looked around to see heads nodding in agreement or eyes set in dread it tore at her heart. Another silent vow sent to her father; she would see this monster fall even if it put her in peril. A hunter's mind settled within Auriel. Once upon a time the sisters three had been set upon any and every trace of demonic power in and around Yuran. They had years of tracking experience, learning every nuance of a multitude of creatures. The codex was practically memorized within her mind, but nothing seemed to fit this creature's description. Did it originate from the mind or had it followed the people in? It showed patience, choosing to slowly steal lives in the night rather than going on an all out rampage. It seemed to the valkyrie that the only reason so many had died was because they chose to attack it head on, rather than flee from it and decide on a more appropriate course of action. Regardless, there was little time to create a plan now. "Those who cannot fight should leave, now. Children, sickly, old, and those filled with fear; take what you can and flee to the edges of your town. I will stand with those who are left to defend your home. Let this be the last night your hearts are gripped in dread of nightfall." Auriel spoke confidently and with power. She was practically radiating with an aura of hope, her positive energy casting a corona of golden hues about her. This would channel and spread to those around her, washing away doubts and instilling courage to the people.

As Auriel began to speak, Mason turned his gaze to her. As she spoke of having the villagers leave when the battle wasn't yet over, many agreed with her. They were ready to abandon this fight, and allow themselves to live with what they had left in life. Many wished to drop their makeshift weapons and just leave. Yet right after she finished speaking, Mason waived his hand, causing all of them to stop in their tracks. "I appreciate your help in this matter, Auriel. But these people have agreed to end this. This is their home. The home they have striven for, worked for... no offense, but sending them away will only doom them further. This land is plagued with looters and... and foul beasts. We have not heard back from any of those who left before this. Sending them out there... it's worse than sending them to that beast." With every passing word, the villagers felt more and more inclined to forget what Auriel had said. Mason was right. They had to stay and fight. What made Auriel and Cassandra think that they had the right to dismiss them when they were fighting for a good cause, too. One day, the beast will be dead! They will celebrate its death with mead and mutton! And chicken. "Come... we must head out. It's time." Mason, without looking back again, turned his back on the villagers. One by one, they marched to their inevitable death. Auriel's aura of hope and trust, trampled by Mason's ability to rally his comrades.
With each passing heal, Cassandra's knees weakened. Chipping away at her strength, the heals were taking longer and longer to take effect. Even with her strength fading, Cassandra refused to pause, even for a second. By the time Mason returned to call his troops to battle, convincing the villagers that their duty was to die, Cassandra had healed the last villager. Their skin, cleared of any scrapes, bruises or burns, Cassandra only regretted that many of them would sustain bigger wounds. Most would die. She looked at Auriel, who had tried her best to save the lives of the weaker villagers. Before she could allow Auriel to respond to Mason, Cassandra took her hand. "They are... attached to him. They believe his word is law. The only we can do..." Pausing briefly, in her lack of strength, Cassandra continued after giving herself a few seconds to compose herself."... the only thing we can do is keep them safe. I am confident that we can do this. If it gets bad... if either of us gets hurt, we can't let the others die. I-if I fall, don't look back for me. Keep them alive... I don't know what I'd do if I allowed them to die." Her eyes growing more and more red as she spoke, the idea of allowing another monster to kill another soul... the sight would destroy her. "It can't happen again, Auriel. It can't. If we can't s-stop this, we don't deserve to call ourselves Valkyries. We'll be worse than him."She spoke as she glanced as Mason. "We need to go with them." With a gentle squeeze, she signaled their departure, keeping Auriel close by her as she walked past many of the villagers, seeking to move up to the front of the line, eventually abandoning the town.

For once in her life Auriel chose to bite her tongue. It showed on her face just how well that prospect sat with her. She had a stern look on her face and receded in to herself, moving to the side of her companion and keeping her close. It made absolutely no sense to pit the untrained and ill-equipped townfolk against a rampaging beast. Mason had to have known that it would cause more harm to them if there were undisciplined people crowding the battlefield they would only end up as dead. Each gaze she met, hardened once more by the dismissal of her plan and their leader's warnings of the dangerous world around them made it harder and harder to meet their eyes. These were the eyes of the dead. Blank and forlorn, hopes dashed against the wall and fear all that remained. A sickly feeling washed over the valkyrie. It was one she had become very familiar with in the past few months. The sense of malevolent intent crawled up her spine and had her whipping her head around to locate the source. Everywhere she tuned there was no sight nor increasing feeling of this sickly aura, but it had shaken her. Just how powerful was this monster?
Auriel looked at the back of Cassandra's head as the healer bent over yet another ailing soul. Her energy washed over them and fixed them anew, but her fatigue was evident. The valkyrie had lost count; how many people had her friend helped? Smaller wounds were taking longer and longer to fix until it became clear that the woman was spending too much energy. Anxiety filled Auriel's chest and clouded her mind. Restlessness grew inside of her once more. The only thing that let it out was each person Cassandra no longer had to deal with. Once the last townsfolk was fixed Auriel came swiftly to her side. She wrapped one arm around her waist to help hold her up. The angelic sound of speech poured from the tired woman's mouth in hushed tones. Together they paced forward with the villagers though Cassandra's fervor to reach the front had Auriel lifting her and pulling her along. There were too many variables here, not enough details. They had all faced this monster yet nothing about it had been shared. If the fight was indeed so trivial why would they follow Mason to their doom when they had been given an out? Pride was no stranger to her kind. Nephilim were incredibly proud and it had become their hubris. Auriel recognized the signs of futility in battling against it.
Auriel tried to summon forth the vigor that she normally felt before battle. She would close her eyes and steady her being, allowing the energy to flow forth and surround her until only the want to eradicate the plague of evil from this plane existed. But she could not. Cassandra's words had scared her for some reason. She was absolutely right in that they could not fail. People's lives were at stake, and if they could not save one town who were they to save the world? She swallowed hard past the lump in her throat. Auriel did not want to know death again. That strange bedfellow had been following her since the start of this war and had not left her since. Each night she lay awake, haunted by the faces of fallen friends. Eyes jaded to the world, bodies crumpled in or even mutilated. Cries of pain filled her thoughts when she tried to quiet herself under the veil of blackness. There was no more room inside of her for this. Auriel wanted so bad to be a valkyrie from the stories, always overcoming any odds that were thrown at her and never balking from an adversary. She wanted to save these people. More than that and perhaps one of the first selfish feeling she had allowed in herself, Auriel wanted to do it for Cassandra. The girl wanted to protect her and shelter her from the horrors they were facing. When the anguish of failure filled the cleric's heart Auriel swore she could feel it in her own. "I swear to you Cassandra, I won't let them down. I will not fail you." It would be in silence that Auriel traveled, keeping her doubts and suspicions to herself in an attempt to strengthen her resolve. There would be no time for any of that once it all started.

Astrid could always find trouble, the two went hand in hand constantly. Today she was waiting in Vein for some info on a job she had heard of. She was sat in a bar with drinking horn in one hand and three rune stones in another hand. The stones glowed dimly inside the room, she was told they detect old magic but for some reason they were not being very helpful today. She sat there staring into the light when she felt a heavy force know her off her stool. She hit the ground with a crash her armour clanking as it hit the floor. And glared upwards to see a large man wearing odd pieces of armour and heavily tattooed top to bottom. "Watch it small fry!" he roared at her while she lay there. "You're the one who better watch where they are throwing all that weight around!" she retorted in an angry tone. The man's face scrunched up in rage his fists heating up and turning cherry red. "Oh yeah? Then take this you little freak!" he bellowed as he threw a punch at her. Astrid had enough time to leap out of the way. The man's punch shattering the floor and leaving burn marks where he struck. "Right back at ya buddy!" she screamed as electricity arced off her feet as she sent a flying roundhouse kick to his head.
• The lightning they wield is of holy nature, due to their lineage. It is of exceptional destructive ability; all lightning and bloodline skills they use are given a rank bonus in power. • When a Magus creates their very own spell it becomes a signature. Hansel was new to this area. Despite his age, by now he would have memorized the world by now. Vein Town, a strange name for a town, was a short stop for travers to go to stock on supplies. What he needed was some info and places to get that are bars and taverns. But at the same time, places like that are where a person always finds trouble, every single time. He located the bar of this town and already, he knew that this was a bad idea. "*Sighed*, well this is going to be a big mess." He walked all the way to the head counter and tried to ignore all the intention that some people were giving him. "Excuse me, Sir Bartender, I apologize on what's about to happen to your bar."
The kick landed, a clap of thunder could be heard as the foot connected. The head only slightly turned with the kick, only to snap back with the same facial expression from before. "Is that all you got?" he asked in a sinister tone. In one fluid motion he grabbed her foot and swung Astrid like a rag doll to the other side of the room. Her body crashing into some chairs. "Pfft what a lousy excuse for a warrior," the man scoffed. Astrid groaned, shaking her head as she slowly stood back up. "Ow that hurt you giant oaf!" she roared as her blue aura lit up covering her body completely. She was pissed off now and this guy was in for a world of hurt. She could not use some of her magic properly without an arcane focus. But she was still able to perform some spells unaffected. Her right hand emanating electricity in her palm. "I'm just warming up!" she yelled as she discharged a bolt of electricity at the man.
The giant had little time to react, taking the bolt in his back his body shook violently. The bolt charring his skin and doing quite alot of damage to his flesh. Three men around him all pulled out what appeared to be enchanted weapons. One man with a glowing green sword, another with a gun and the last one carrying a purple axe. Astrid's eyes widened as they did this, she had realised that she had made a huge mistake once again and would now have to fight all of these men alone. Not the worst situation she has been in but those times she had her necklace to channel her magic. She was also hoping to by an Arcane talon while here in yuran but she stopped here first to grab a drink. "Why does this always happen to me," she thought to herself as she unsheathed a basic steel blade she stole from a guy a while back. "Alright! Come and have a go if you think yer 'ard enough gentlemen!" she sung as she spun the blade in her hand with electricity arcing out if her free palm.
