The elf smiled pleasantly, nodding and stepping inside, walk as soundless as ever. "Mmm...not really, don't trouble yourself." His smile hadn't faltered, though his ears had caught every word...and he was a little disappointed in Nash.
He cast a slow glance around the room, taking things in. He was always one to observe...and observe carefully.

"I'm fine, but thanks," he replied to her offer of drinks, once again following Farlest as they went into the house. He nudged the door shut behind him with a foot and paused, also looking around.

"Feel free to sit down." On the table were three statues on strings of beads. Along with them were journals and papers in a very odd looking language.
"So. Your names? I'm Aubri." She didn't hold out her hand.

"I'm Nashorme," he replied, before he thought about giving some kind of fake name. Oh well ... there were always people with strange names, right? And he pretty much figured Far wouldn't think about such things either.
He found himself eyeing those three statues warily, yes, but ... a bit curiously as well.

"And I'm Farlest Morifaerion." No one would know who he was here at any rate, and definitely not the association with his father...hopefully. His own observant gaze had studied the statues a moment, before becoming engrossed in studying the rather fascinating writing on those papers...they looked as though they might be related to his own, and yet were vastly different. It intriuged him, he'd always been a quick one with languages.

"Well, then. I suppose I'm addressing myself more to Farlest here than you, Nashorme, but do feel free to listen in and possibly change your mind. It'd save me a hell of a lot of trouble."
Aubri turned more towards Farlest, and launched into her usual explanation. "The Dumyrciedel are a race of cat-like, scaled creatures that can speak our language and are highly intelligent. They've been sealed a way for a long time. I happened to break the seal, and as such, I'm running an adoption/reintigration project. The Council Members who run the city want the children - mostly the homeless, abandoned children with no place else to turn - to be able to live in our world instead of being stuck underground.
"If you think you can take care of one, you'll get a necklace - which shows the basic personality and colors of the Dumyr - and a journal. The journal is to record growth, if you so choose. It also has a list of the names, addresses, and phone numbers of your fellow foster parents, in case you need anything.
"These papers here are for if you'd like your Dumyr to be considered for an apprenticeship. It's a wonderful opportunity for your Dumyr to learn about his own people and culture... but you may end up never meeting him.
"It's up to you."
She took a deep breath.
"There. I'm getting sick of explaining all that."

He listened, and frowned just slightly. "It all sounds very complicated ..." he mumbled finally, eyeing those statues and papers again.
((Eeehhh short, sorry!))

The elf nodded slowly, the whole idea appeared very intriuging, and appealed to him greatly. He wondered what he could do in order to convince Nash to take one too.
"It still appeals to me...though I'm going to have to say that I'd like to forego the apprenticeship." He smiled easily, "I'm willing to do whatever needs to be done myself in order to teach them about their culture...even so far as taking them important places."

"Mm. Less paperwork for me, then."
She eyed Nash flatly. "After they're a little older than a kitten, they're remarkably self-sufficient. They're also intelligent enough to, instead of just being cute or amusing pets, be worthwhile companions.
"They also take care of their own grooming, like normal cats. But Dumyr are usually loyal more like... well, dogs. It's the sentience, I think. You sure you don't want one? You'd be doing me a big favor. You'd also not be splitting up a related pair. I believe... they're cousins? Maybe? They're somehow related, though, and were found together, keeping each-other warm, out on the streets."

((Awww, so cute! X3 *prods Nash*))
He blinked at that, and despite his better intentions, found himself listening to her. As such, he didn't answer right off the bat, indicating that he was at least thinking about it now.

He poked Nash with one finger, "See? It's not like getting me a kitten now is it? And besides, they're attached to one another...c'mon...let's not split them up..." He used those puppy eyes, which has seemed so effective earlier, "Please, meleth?"
The elf's emotions were swayed easily by a story like that, and besides, he always liked kids.

He groaned quietly. "Aw ... Far not the eyes," he protested, shutting his own. But he could -feel- the look even if he couldn't see it and finally growled softly.
"Oooh ... all right all right." He poked the elf back. "I just want you to know that's not fair, though," he said, shaking his head.

"Wonderful!" Aubri sighed, relieved. "Okay. Names and phone numbers, or at least a way I can contact you? And your necklaces would be the two on the right - the grey and black ones. Yeah. Decide amongst yourselves. Journals are a free-for-all - pick any color that you'd like."

"Well ... we don't exactly have a place to stay yet," he started. "We just got into town ..." He picked up one of the journals at random, flipping through the blank pages.
((Shoooort sorry! >< ))

He smiled easily at her, also selecting a journal, green like his own eyes. "Mmm...I can get you our address sometime tomorrow, I think I can make arrangements by then." He tilted his head to one side, studying her a moment, and then picking up one of the necklaces, one that had red beads as well. "Hey, you said these represent the basic personality of the Dumyr, right? So how about this one? What would this signify?"
