Immediately alerted to the snoring, a smile stretched across the vixen's face...although she seemed none too impressed when she noticed he was in fact drooling and turned to look at the pillow with a sense of disgust. Oh sure, make that kinda comment earlier huh... She thought for a moment and set his pillow to the side; more than fine to sleep on the mattress as was. Shaking her head, she lay her head back down and managed to catch a few more hours sleep.
---------------------------about 6am
As the early morning hours finally came to be and faint light began to creep near the entrance of the cave, once more Nariko began to rouse. Always one to be up before the crack of dawn, Nariko's internal alarm went off as she sat up; finding her companion still fast asleep. Slipping out of the bed with the carefullest of ease, she was relieved that her wounds felt better already albeit tender. Wondering momentarily if she should wake him, Nariko decided against it and slipped out of the cave; taking a gentle jog to save her stitches from busting.
---------------------------Around 8am
Returning to the quiet of the cave, the vixen wasted little time to set down the large basket she had returned with and took out many an items from it. Practically raiding the kitchen, it had everything from heated leftovers, fruits, some sandwiches, juice and milk containers and some other things she had tossed in there in her hurry to return. However her large thermos of coffee was what she was interested in; pouring herself a glass to take a sip.
Taking a seat on the corner of the mattress; she looked back over to Dutch and shook her head. Not that she could blame his sleepiness, yet she had become such a light sleeper from her mother and it astonished her still that he slept through it all.
"Dutch.....Hey Dutch. You going to get up anytime soon?" Nariko grinned lightly as she took another sip, not wanting to shout but hoped her tone was loud enough.

He slept for lord knows how many hours. It wasn't as great as he would have like it to be, but he could care less. Only a few times did he kind of wake up, but the reason to him was unknown beyond the sounds of movement.
It wasn't until much later when he head clattering and a familiar voice did he wake up mostly, still wishing he could drift off. As soon as he recognized the voice he groaned and rolled over to have his back face her. "You're still here?" he muttered groggily, realizing it was early and she had woke him up....

Ignoring his crankiness, she took another swing of her coffee and let out a blissful little sigh. It was paws down the best part of her day, despite she usually spent it on a viewpoint or in happier company like her mother. None the less she wasn't going to allow it to bring her down, as she used her foot to reach over and lift the lid to the basket to let the aroma out.
"I figured least I get some angry lecture on how ungrateful I am since you wouldn't hear a thanks if you were sleeping....I brought my gratitude with me, it was the least I could do. Yet I will go, if that is what you would like." Standing from the bed, she looked down at his back and then out to the entrance of the cave; making note of a few things around the small room.

Even with the aroma of a decent meal filling his nose, it was far from putting him in a good mood. Then again, very little did unless it involved bashing the heads of grunts or smashing in brute skulls. It was those simple things he didn't want to forget nor loose.
"Never said you couldn't stay" he yawned and stretched out his body, figuring there was nothing he could say to get rid of her anyway. "........Just figured you'd've ditched by now." he rolled onto his back and stared at the ceiling, making no attempt what so ever to take interest in her gratitude.
The night before while cleaning up, he treated himself to a few wild berries. He was far from hungry at this point

Closing her eyes for a few moments as the stream swept along her nose and maw, she took in his words the best she could considering the history between them. Thinking for a moment or two, she tried to keep it short and simple; since it seemed she was usually wasting her breath otherwise.
"I would have....I thought about it, but I ended up coming back." Simple as that. It wasn't often that she ruled out her logical thought process to follow nothing but a foolish feeling; but there had been a lot of firsts lately as well that made less sense to her.
"I....assume with this new abode it means you didn't find anyone hmm?" She asked quietly, curling her tail around her waist as she took another swing.

He looked at thought his peripherals and closed his eyes for a moment before rubbing them. It was still to early.
He disregarded her first comment and stretched once more. He felt that if she had to keep it plain and simple, then there was no reason in getting into it. As long as she didn't plan on moving in, he couldn't complain.
"Naw....I did go back to the beach again to see if perhaps they were murdered...but all I saw was this fox giving a stare down to that thing we had attack us" he said as he got up and crawled to the fire, lighting it once again. "The scary part is...fox was actually winning." he said as he turned back and scratched at his head.

"A what!" Looking up from her coffee rather quickly, her brow shot way up as she tried to think what kind of fox would be able to take on something like that creature....and win. "What was the fox like?" Was it another monstrous one? No...because he did say fox.....her mind was already racing to try and figure it out before he could get a word in edge wise.
Nariko almost didn't want to remember that day, as her eyes fell down she knew she wouldn't have made it on her own; a thought both disappointing but....embarrassing at the same time. It had been the day that her true confusion with the man infront of her came to be, not that she let it show other than when she drifted into thought.

He scoffed and crossed his arms. It was what had bothered him most about the spectacle. "I wish...he was a little guy. Probably no bigger than your mother" he said with a glare. He wasn't mad at her, or for that matter anything. It just disgusted him that something so small could take on something like that without lifting a finger, and winning. Atrocious.
"Hang on" he said as he headed for the tunnel. He could sense that awkward silence coming on and thought now would be a good time to take a morning break of sorts. Thank goodness he was in a forest and there were plenty of bushes around

A disturbed look crossed her face as immediately her eyes leveled to a point which was about her mother's height, and remembering the creature's height. "No bloody way..." She breathed, unwilling to believe it herself. Maybe there was something special about the little fox, some vast dark force or something....anything so save her pride from being further wounded than it already had. Still trying to figure out the puzzle, she only looked up when he headed out the cave as she didn't seem to take too much notice or dwell on it.
"Alright.." She spoke before taking a sip of her coffee again, closing the lid to the basket with a bump of her foot.
Ugh....it had to be some kind of joke as she scratched her head. Yet it seemed to piss off Dutch just as much, and she gathered he wasn't the kind to joke around on the fly like that.

He returned only seconds later, still perturbed that something so small was more of a threat then him. He was thinking the same thing at this point. "Or maybe it's the creature's master...I mean..he didn't do a thing" he thought out loud as he returned to the cave, plopping on his bed, still scratching his head in confusion.
Oh well. If he ever met this fox face to face, he would be sure to give the guy a talking to, but for the time being, he had a vixen in his room slash house and it only made him wonder if his usual and uneventful activities will continue as planned. He didn't want to do anything with her, but he wasn't going to argue much if she needed like...an escort...or..something..anything to get him away from that meadow

"Maybe...." Nariko tapped her chin thoughtfully for a few moments, before drinking up the rest of her coffee as she felt the energy already spiking in her blood. "....I'd hate to think what he had to do to get that thing as a pet then." Turning her head slightly, she watched as he flopped down onto the bed, leaning her back against the wall.
Looking out the cave, Nariko would have been lying if she was to say she was keen on leaving right away. While far from traumatized from yesterday's events with the idiot spartans, it had fueled questions that she couldn't find answers to....and a desire to avoid the general public all the more.
"....Hey, What were you talking about yesterday, about that whole Spartan's killing ODST's?" Were they not all on the same team? Bringing her head back to look to Dutch, she wanted to make sure to catch his expression as most of the time it was all she had to differentiate from.

"who knows" he remarked as he fell belly first down on his bed, grabbing his pillow and balling it up under his chin, half tempted to fall asleep now that he was in his own bed.
Her question struck him as odd as at first he had no idea as to what she was referring to, but then it had hit him." Oh...well..ODSTs are known UNSC bad assess. And a lot of us like to think that we are. So as soon as Spartans were made, we challenged them a lot for sparring matches...but the Spartan always one, usually killing the ODSTs who challenged him. There have been other occasions than that, but usually it's just harmless sparring" he explained, still wanting to smack whoever made the brutes.
"We ODSTs take it personal because when ODSTs were needed, they just called Spartans." he finished finally

Taking in everything he said, it did make sense if they were pushed into the background for enhanced Spartans to come in and take presidency over the ODST's. It probably was a sore spot that so many good men had died at the hands of re engineered soldiers....but she of course didn't understand the full extent since she wasn't there.
"So...ODST's were almost made obsolete when Spartans came around?" She asked, trying to get a grasp on exactly what he was saying. "I'm sure that would make me mighty sore about it all too." Although, as she felt her pawtips trailing along her coffee mug; she glanced back to the ODST.
"Have you lost people you know to Spartans? Is that why you got so much pleasure out of that guy today?"

He sighed and sat up leaning against the rock wall behind him. "Basically yes. In the context, Spartans were trained from young ages, then augmented, then trained some more...It was understandable that they were 'better than us' but....ODSTs lasted longer in the long run than Spartans." he said sighing wearily at the end. Even now he still remembered the speech he was given when he was told to work with a Spartan. That was a long time ago though.
"Of course. There was 2 ODSTs that were killed by a Spartan Trainee. Everyone knew the ODSTs killed and the Spartan...although...it's hard to forget about the 'Last Spartan' John 117. That b*****d was incredible..I'll give him that." he nodded. It was true..he envied the guy. Even though he supposedly went MIA after defeating the Flood and the Covenant. He had no idea that the son of a b***h was actually on the same island as he was though

"That's too bad....I bet it would have been incredible to see a group of you drop and do what you do." Nariko smiled sincerely as her eyes lingered up to the ceiling as if trying to imagine so to little avail. "Then again, its just a shame that most never consider anything beyond what shines the brightest; I can only imagine the amazing stories of ODST, and Marines, and other troops; lime lighted by Spartans. Shame, really." What she wouldn't give to her her paws on some of those reports and books....but alas, she wasn't aware of any other ODST aside from Dutch.
"John?" Nariko perked with a chuckle, couldn't help but grinning. "Can't say I'm overly familiar with him, but his ideal and what I've heard along the way in my research.....well, I'm sure I could call it a crush." As foolish as it sounded, it was true.....while other's were fawning over fellow young potentials she had been swooned by the strength and honor of a man she had never met, and never seen. "Did you ever meet him then...?"
