Coffee... YUK! But I can confidently say that few people will taste food the way I do. Due to my 24 hrs a day/365 days a year sinus issues I do not taste like most people. Hell I usually can't taste alot of stuff and thus only extremely seasoned foods do I get anything from usually. Is one reason when younger I used Ketchup on LOTS of foods, since I could taste that.

Amazing how much food looses taste when you remove the olfactory component from it. And I have a HORRENDOUS sweet tooth... it's just that I reach a point that I 'feel' that I've had enough and will stop then. Of course sometimes it takes a while to reach that point... oh and i also get wicked-nasty cravings for things. Especially salt like every 2 or 3 months. Best thing ever is chocolate covered pretzels, as you get the sweet and salty all in one! Okay back to work now...

amazingly enough humans are an evolutionary blunder, we are not supposed to have naturally come this far/ evolved in this way. I mean, look at us! We are frail, hairless, and lack any natural weapon! WTF mother nature!...

.... xd but we are extremely adaptable and creative, allowing us to use our environments to our advantage by way of the use of tools and community. the way our brain developed is our natural strength. how can you say that we evolved in a way we weren't supposed to?

Our evolutionary cousins already do that, thus evolutionary was not supposed to occur. Being that evolution comes about when a niche is available for a species to evolve into. In our case we created a niche and messed with the natural cycle. Thinking about it, we are a completely random chance mutation that got to strong before it could be brought down...

To quote agent smith:

Agent_Smith
I'd like to share a revelation that I've had during my time here. It came to me when I tried to classify your species and I realized that you're not actually mammals. Every mammal on this planet instinctively develops a natural equilibrium with the surrounding environment but you humans do not. You move to an area and you multiply and multiply until every natural resource is consumed and the only way you can survive is to spread to another area. There is another organism on this planet that follows the same pattern. Do you know what it is? A virus. Human beings are a disease, a cancer of this planet. You're a plague and we are the cure.

i honestly don't see it that way, i think that your view of humanity is wrong, completely. we didn't create any niches, or ******** up the natural cycle. we are as natural as everything else. it is only by pretending that we are not natural that we begin to divorce ourselves from that naturality. our evolution is perfectly natural, and the way we use our planet and manipulate it is just as natural as any other plant or animal.

Just watch other animals, they use tools and such as well but at a more rudimentary method than us. We just took it farther than they did. biggrin

Hell watch some squirrels try to get food you put out in a 'squirrel-proof' container... I bet they'll still find a way to get it, and once one does then they all know. Oh my god! They're the beginnings of the borg! It's collective thoughts... ahhhh!

i'm not arguing against other animals using tools, in fact i feel that that only backs up my belief.

The "Animals Using Tools" argument can only go so far. While the furry creatures might be able to master simple machines like leavers and wedges, and figure out things like gravity, they can't get beyond that. I have yet to see an animal build an wheel. Or weave a basket. Or make a sail.

Evolutionary-ily speaking, our simple tools capacity should have been capped during the Industrial Revolution. Unless we evolved to need the microchip, all food, clothing and shelter issues could be functionally solved at that level of technology. But then we just started showing off for our own sakes. I mean, seriously, the iPad is not the product of evolution. It does not serve any need it (or its predecessors) did not create. Sure it's nifty, but it's not a survival necessity.

eh, point acknowledged, but i still don't see how that makes humans any less natural beings than other animals. that's all my point is.

I was backing you up a bit there, I agree we are natural... then again so are viruses. Only unnatural things I know of would be the undead some claim to create.

Yes but see the difference was that we used simple tools to get all we needed to survive, then got bored. So we started to make other tools just for the hell of it. We had that one mutation that allowed our intelligence to expand beyond where it was and then like opening the Pandora's Box it ain't going back in. So we now make things simply for the act of making them, to make doing something else easier, or just to be something nifty to take our minds off our sad existence. Remember kiddies... boredom is a very dangerous thing indeed.

My point was that humans are different from the rest of the animal kingdom. It doesn't mean we're more or less "natural." just that we have an X-factor not found in the animal kingdom. The purpose of this difference is debatable, but trying to claim that we're just mammals (so let's do it like they do on the discovery channel) ((sorry, couldn't help myself sweatdrop )) always seems like an easy way to cop out of the responsibility such awareness brings with it. It's like saying, "I don't want to worry about child support or the power bill, I just want to party, and I'm just an animal anyway, so I never have to ask myself any hard questions or try to improve my character. Because I'm an animal, I can act like one without guilt."

There are certainly a multitude of ways we can live in harmony or disharmony with nature. The reason most people don't live a "greener" life is frankly because of ignorance. Did you know that 85% of neighborhoods don't allow solar panels on rooves? It's because in the 1980's, they were an "eye sore," and even though the technology has advance so that a few square yards of solar panels can take you off the grid and look pretty good doing it, the home owners associations haven't been pressured enough to come into the 21st century.

That's just my two cents.

i don't see any reason that we can't decide to live without guilt if we feel we can. nor to say that we are divorced from the animal kingdom because of this difference. plenty of species are completely unique, but are still considered animals.

and what about other primates? there are arangotans that build boats for crying out loud! and chimps that go to war, and have traditions! i wouldn't be surprised if they have religions! and one articular species of gibbons was researched by scientists and they decyphered most of one tribe's language, and can communicate with them limitedly with words! monkey words! with specifically that one tribe of them!

these are things that for the longest time were considered uniquely human things. in truth, we find that we have alot more in common with "lesser" animals than we thought. and it's not just with primates either, its with dolphins, birds, dogs, you name it!
