ANNOUNCEMENTS FOR HEARTFELT ADVENTURE


Both of the following announcements are meant as balancing measures, so to speak.

First: How 'non-elemental special abilities' are given has been more clearly specified. Most of the following knowledge is common sense or already known, but pay attention to the underlined parts:

Quote:
If you choose a melee weapon, you may choose an appropriate class and gain any magic your summon may grant you. If you're summon is non-elemental, you may get a non-elemental specialty (as long as it's not a Magic School).

If you choose a ranged or magic weapon, you may choose an appropriate class and gain any magic your summon may grant you. If your summon has no element, and you are NOT a Mage, then you may pick a Magic School as your specialty.


Considering most people already have such things decided, this is pretty much just a formality. The next announcement, however, is not.

Second: As per Cory's suggestion in the HA suggestion thread some time ago (almost two months), we have been working on a more thorough Elemental Affinities list. What's taken us so long is deciding on the right balances, and keeping in mind the different levels- after all, it wouldn't make sense for you to be absorbing magic at a mere level 2.

And so, here are the lists of affinities per element. Keep in mind that each quoted section pertains to that specific elemental. So you only have to actually worry about this if you're that specific element, or you're using that elemental magic (somehow).

You don't need to read all of these! I'm only posting them in case people get curious. All of these will be edited into current profiles, sans the Non-Elementals, who have no affinities unless specifically mentioned, such as Cory's weakness to fire.

Would it be possible to take a weakness to poison and/or charm magic (both of which seem strongly in-character)? Would I get anything in exchange for either, or would I just be giving my character more vulnerabilities?

Poison, you could if you wanted, but I'm not sure what you mean by 'Charm' magic? As for getting something in exchange, not sure, I'd have to ask the other mods.

Just the charm effect - that's all I mean. I suppose that really has nothing to do with elements. XD

Oh, you want a weakness to that specific ailment? And did you mean the same for the Poison ailment, or the actual Poison Element?

As for how that would work, you could still do it (reduce the penalty for Charm, increase the bonus chance for Poison), but as for if/what you would gain... again, I'd still have to talk to the other mods.

I meant the Charm effect (Alan is "super easy to seduce") and the Poison Element (Alan is afraid of poison.)

I think I'll take both regardless of whether or not I get bonuses for them, but if I can get something out of this, I'd obviously like to. razz

Since the only abilities currently in HA that have a chance of instant death are both physically inclined (Zanmato and Zantetsuken), I propose the "death" status effect be listed as one of the statuses that could possibly derive it's chances from Attack Strength (or Attack Speed, since both attacks are supposed to be deadly due to the blinding speed).

For the purposes of an ATE, would people mind if I were to say that the Queen's Quest group set up a local church/community center as temporary headquarters during the time skip? (What? It's what I'd choose in that situation. Religion nonwithstanding they tend to be spacious and central, and feature kitchens)

Also, no one ever answered my question about taking weaknesses. >_>

Yes, you do that for an ATE.

Yes, you may take additional weaknesses, and in return get 'bonuses' of equal or lesser importance. Examples:

You want weakness to Poison Element and Charm status.

Poison: Indifferent -> Double

Charm: Top Number Doubled.

In return, you may increase one element's affinity to 'Halved' status, and you may say that you have a 'Resistance' to one ailment of equal or lower difficulty (meaning the Bottom Number will be doubled).
