A blast of hellish red energy (different from the sort Romulus had used, less frenzied and more precise) leaped from the figure's hand, heading straight towards the boat. It smiled at them again, still quite at home on top of the waves.

The energy blast struck Remus as well, and he thrown before he could rush down the companionway to retrieve Perseverance. The Imperator cursed under his breath. This trip wasn't going smoothly at all.

Kaok's blade speared the figure right through the heart. But that was not what hurt it the most.
This place, this world beyond worlds was shaped by thought, not deed. Kaok's anger was what made it bleed.
It staggered back, clutching its head as the Faun's fury rang out.

The rebound attack that Kaok received was... altogether too much. She fell backwards onto the boat and hit her head quite hard. Out cold.

The Imperator's vision was blurry. He tried to stay awake but soon he blacked out. However, the feeling that he failed never left him.

There was the sound of somebody cursing under their breath as the flashes of silver-blue winked out on the horizon. Hrothbert leaped through the hole he had torn in the air, standing atop the waves just as the dark figure did.
"Ah, necromancer." the Tenebra purred, turning on him and sliding back out onto the waves. "About time you got here. Your little whore's not going to last much longer."
The blasted creature never saw the fork of lightning that cleaved in two.
The sorcerer swung himself into the boat, disguising the weariness and weakness that plagued him as he brought Remus and Kaok back into consciousness, touching both their foreheads briefly to set the spell.

Kaok awoke then, feeling the sharp pain in the back of her head.
It wasn't like she could complain though. They'd only been unconscious.
Now Hrothbert was there, perhaps they would know where they were going now - or why this was all happening. She knew part of what had happened, even though she wished she didn't.

Remus opened his eyes shortly after Hrothbert revived him. He rubbed his head and his body had suffered a few burns from where the blast of chaotic energy had struck him. Remus had many questions as well, but Kaok summed it all up for him.

The sorcerer had a few questions of his own. "What did he say?" The wind grew fiercer and the water even colder as a thin layer of frost appeared on the hull. "Before I arrived. What did he say?"
