Akemi Mercuraki Like what kind of characters has he made? First, just because she'd kill me if I didn't mention it, 'tis a chick. Generally she makes lesbians who have such a high charisma score that they succeed at things like seducing and eating out the Teifling Druid I had as a boss before the battle started. At the other end of the spectrum is the exceptionally well endowed naked men who screw anything that moves and swings their manhood around like a flail. sweatdrop Almost always Drow, usually Lawful Evil pretending to be Lawful Neurtal so as to co-operate with the team while reserving the right to slit throats at the first sign of impudence. Not always the easiest characters to play, but highly entertaining when it comes to th' killin's twisted

Slifer Ozura Sutiiven Akemi Mercuraki Now I got the Forgotten Realms Guide book which means I can make Drow. heart ...and since I have martial power I am not without Drow Feats. heart heart My characters I have made, making, or will make.. 1. Gar Stellarhammer NG Dwarf Warlock(Star Pact) 2. Enma Shinigami Gar's childhood friend and a Half-Elf Beastmaster with a Wolf Companion. 3. ??? Stellarhammer Gar's Cousin and betrayer to the Family. A chaotic Evil Dwarf Warlock(Infernal Pact) 4. A Drow of some gender and Class. I dunno what Ryu's view is on Evil or Chaotic Evil Characters, being it's his first time DMing. Any of them is probably okay otherwise. How much do evil characters tend to complicate things? Well... My paladin would probably murder you at the first sign of nefarious villainy, for starters. Ilmater doesn't take kindly to inducing suffering.

Not many people play the high charisma bard these days, either in 3.5 or 4.0. That's why I made it my mission to see what more I can do with the Charisma stat. Sorcerer allows me to use it as a main stat, thus my Halfling sorcerer you saw, who enjoys using his charms to get himself by everyday.

I agree, though the High Charisma anything is rare these days in 3.5. Personally I tend to try and convince people to play something other than "Charisma is worthless" characters. Though I've seen it backfire when someone charmed themselves in a mirror and spent a good part of our time in the tavern trying to get himself to go to bed with himself. That said, Charisma is a very important stat for a lot of things, esp. for Paladins and Sorcs. ... and for the reasons TMJ pointed out *stares happily at that sexy man beast known as Sean Connery surrounded by scantily clad and extremely hot wimminz whee * Designated Hero Well... My paladin would probably murder you at the first sign of nefarious villainy, for starters. Ilmater doesn't take kindly to inducing suffering. *is quickly brought back crashing down to earth gonk * *ahem* Ah... YES! That's also an issue about playing an Evil character in a campaign - does the party have a Paladin? (It's less of an issue now that they don't have to strictly play Lawful Good, but it's still there.) Now, if the Evil character is good at hiding his nefariousness from the rest of the party, great! But repeated open usage of Evil will probably get you gang raped by your party with Pally man in the lead sweatdrop

themightyjello but the good characters in the party might not have the same comfort in knowing that there's a murderous villain standing at the back of their lineup. To be fair, it's not like evil characters have their alignments tattooed on their foreheads.

I've played D&D a while with a mostly casual group, on and off. From my experience?
90% of characters are tactless and stupid.
Even if their players think they're masters of politics.

Actually, Fish raises a good point.
I'll take back my comment in regards to the general masses.

Sorcerer allows me to use it as a main stat, thus my Halfling sorcerer you saw, who enjoys using his charms to get himself by everyday. I agree, though the High Charisma anything is rare these days in 3.5. (referring to 3.5) A lot of that has to do with the fact that aside from being a casting stat, Charisma has very little use in combat situations. A character that put 18 points into charisma starting out that wasn't either a sorcerer or a rogue built around feinting is 'wasting' points that would be more advantageously spent elsewhere. Even classes that have a use for charisma would benefit more elsewhere... Clerics and Paladins use it to turn undead, but it's not their casting stat and they need scores for melee combat as well. Bards only need to succeed on a perform check to use their songs, and don't get a bonus for beating the DC by a wide margin; as light armor wearers they also need a high dexterity score so they can't really skimp on that, and some of their most useful spells don't use a save DC so that lessens the need for charisma. I suppose Paladins, really, get the most benefit out of a high charisma score in combat compared to every other class that it's not a casting stat for because their abilities are boosted by charisma, but it's still not really a substitute for a high strength score most of the time. If there were more charisma-based options in combat people might not be so squeamish about it. But diplomacy is non-combat, bluff is only good for denying dex bonus (though with the right prestige and feat combinations it can be really, really good), and intimidate is laughable. What they would need to do is either give more options for skill/feat uses that involve a high charisma score or otherwise the only way to get a good benefit out of charisma when not a sorcerer/bard would be to pick charisma-based prestige classes. Although there is one game that does high-charisma characters right.

Finally finished my Human Wizard (sub-classing Cleric), Aahzmond Von Osmond, complete with Alchemy abuse, thanks in part to Wizard's Helpdesk, of course.
He comes packed with:
Wand Standard Adventurer's Kit Riding Horse (so he doesn't have to walk places or carry loot with his piss poor strength) Fine Clothes (Navy Blue Robe) Alchemical Reagents (70 gp worth) for arcane ritual spells and... alchemy. Glasses (self-imposed character flaw, poor eyesight. Should give him -2 or -4 to attack rolls without his glasses or something).
That leaves 3 gold for lodging or food or something. I would have gotten a cart too, but whatever. I didn't see any charts for draft animals (a War Horse really doesn't count) and I doubt we'll need that much carrying power for treasure / siege weapons / furniture / etc. this early on.
