Ellandra smiled - a true, warm smile for one of the few times tonight, and she caught the bun-bun in a warm hug, still being careful of her little spark. "It went.... it went so very well, Misha... I - I never thought this would happen, never in a million years," she said, the awe and pure joy literally seeping from her voice as she answered.
Taking iMisha's appearance as she broke the hug, she smiled again and said, "You look very dashing tonight, little brother." Because he was her little brother still, and she wanted to remind him every chance she got, since she didn't get to see the bun-bun very much. Then her smile grew even broader and she grabbed his hand, much more confident now that she was with someone she trusted. "Hmm.... wasn't there some snacks around here somwhere, Misha? Would you be a dear and show me? I think we both could use something to eat, don't you?"

Miss mei Lecter The atmosphere was calming, more so than she had expected. She took a peek around, Kyru seemed to have made himself at home even standing further from her than he usually does. It's been ages since she's had a nice colloquial chat. Cooping herself up in her work tends to give her a new appreciation of the small things. She had excused herself from her chat and made her way to the table of food.
As she picked up a chip, Mei saw something black move from the corner of her eyes. Of course, nothing was unusual when she turned to look. Nah, just my imagination She took a chip and scooped up a spoonful of cheddar. Just as she was about to put the thing in her mouth, the shadow of the bowl transformed into a fish!
Mei was in a state of panic as she dropped what she was about to eat, leaving a mess on the floor, and hurried back to the room. The light flickered on and within seconds, four black shapes scattered leaving only the remaining shards of her containers. How could this happen? With an unsteady hand, she picked up the only container that hasn't been shattered. On the side was a hair line crack that could have happened anywhere. Unfortunately for her, the crack extended to the base and appeared to have short circuited the wires.
There was no time to waste. She had assumed these were tame and harmless but if they could crumble glass, then they must have some other sorts of abilities to reach into the physical world.
The Announcement
"Hello everyone my name is Mei Lecter, some of you may know me and my line of work. I am not here to discuss those today, in fact, I'm here to bring some unfortunate news. Please hear me out! One of my sets of experiments have escaped into this manor and I may need some help containing them. These creatures are known as Darklings and have the ability to travel between the shadow of objects but they can only stretch so much to reach their next target. I have little information on them as they are a recent invention. In fact, they've hardly hit the test stages. Although they've been pretty docile over the last week, they might have some unknown abilities so approach with extreme caution!
I you come across one, just hang onto it! They cannot pass through electric-magnetic fields, and you all are one yourself, people.
Thankfully, the mansion is well lit. The circuiting in the manor itself should prevent the creatures from escaping to the outside, which would make them almost impossible to locate. Those who succeed will be justly rewarded. I'd like everyone to split up into pairs or groups for safety sake. If one of you accidentally gets hurt, another can get help!

“Not in a million years? That's... long. 'Ttah, master DeLonghy has had an eye on you for a long time now, even from before I first, err... ran into you. I'm happy you made p your mind, and I'm sure.. I'm really, really sure the little one will love you.” Misha glanced from her to the box and back and back again fondly as he was hugged, embracing her back briefly, warm and reassuring.
At her compliment, he couldn't help but grin shyly, cheeks going pink. Heehee, really? For a moment he turned into the classic image of the fidgety young boy, hands interlocked behind his back, scuffling the toe of a shoe on the floor abashedly. “Thanks. I tried my best, and so did miss Longway.” Geehee, lookatur chat with that odd guy.
”Food you say? Oh momma yes, there's more food here than I've ever seen in my entire LIFE! Not that that's... so spectacular, heh.” he chuckled, took the lead over from her, and contently lead her to the Dining- and Ballroom, stealing a glance at Mei who suddenly poofed.

The voice making the announcement was clearly hers, but what she said wouldn't easily be traced back to her being the scientific brain behind the second-generation Essentics. People might start making assumptions, but then again, doctor Cromwell had his own experiments, such as Claudia, and he wasn't being probed...
Misha hadn't even known she'd been working on those 'Darklings', and had NO idea what they were. Lecter's brief warning went completely over his head.
”.... things on the loose?” o.o
”... food first. Anything I can fetch you? Snacks, drinks?” he offered to Ellandra, still a little unsettled because of his creation-mom's message, but hey, priorities please.

Elst nodded towards Verdant, not just thinking, but knowing the nymph would want to come along. “Oh, definitely, I’ll get his attention so he can come along.” He was halfway to calling over to his employee, but then, the announcement came on. He listened quietly, to the voice he now knew belonged to the girl that had been hidden away as of yet. Even now, as a potential crisis was unfolding, he had a slight afterthought reflecting his hope to meet her at some point in the evening.
“Hm, perhaps we should postpone the garden trip, these…Darklings seem a bit more important. Perhaps Verdant can come with us to try and find them instead?”

Eli had returned from being dragged off just in time to hear the announcement about the darklings. He gripped the box containing his spark tightly as he thought about what to do. On the one hand he wasn't sure he really wanted to go chasing after this unknown creatures in foreign place with likely a stranger as backup. It was extremely hard to track and hunt things you knew nothing about and they had so little to go on.
On the other the things needed to be caught and it would be more interesting than standing around in this suit, petting Kell pretending like he belonged at fancy parties. The Green yes man looked around for anyone else who looked ready to set off in search of these darkling things.

Ellandra nodded weakly, the announcement having made her just slightly on the nervous side. Strange things running around that sounded pracitcally impossible to catch? And yet. . . they were supposed to help catch them? How on earth would that work out? And these abilities. . . more than a little frightening.
"R-right, snacks... well, why don't we look together, Misha?" She said, regaining her composure at long last, after several moments of just blinking and cuddling the box that held her little spark. "Is there any cheesecake? I haven't had that in..." she blushed, thinking about what had happened the last time she'd had it, at her old apartment with Faolan (really, so much fainting!), "...A while now." Then she smiled softly, and stroked the box a little.
"I think this little one will like you very much, too." She wondered, idly, what it would look like after it emerged. It was a social spark, so would it have anything in common with litle Aria - who, she'd noticed, was rather absent from the party - or, more likely, would it be entirely its own little being, perfect and beautiful in whatever form it took?
Shaking her head to clear it of her musings, she looked around nervously. "What do you suggest we ... we do about these.. darklings, Misha? I'm not entirely sure I'd be very good at looking for them, I think I'd just get lost."

Misha had been a little taken aback by the sudden announcement as well, instinctively wary of what he didn't know, but Ellandra managed to make him start breathing again quick enough.
”A... Ah, sure, I know where to find good things. Cheesecake you say? I think that's that stuff right there, but I'm not sure.” He pointed at one of the dessert tables only a few paces away from them, and he turned out to be quite right. That's the famous cake of cheese alright, yup yup yup.
”If moth-... If she says we can all go and find them, I believe I should go and try to retrieve them for her...” For Misha the decision was readily made, he didn't want to brush off his 'mother's problems after all. ”I think some of the others are going, too. Maaaybeeeee I should...” he glanced around, then made up his mind.
”Yup, I'll take something to nibble with me, I never get to sneak food away from the table.” Eeehee, gleeful snicker. ”If you'd like to come, I'll surely keep you safe, big sister! And then maybe I can show you around, too, this place is like... huuuuge.” he made a bit of a funny face while pronouncing the word, then giggled and skippered off briefly, returning within the minute with a considerable travel-reserve of cheesecake and cookies.
”If they're around here somewhere, might as well check all rooms we come across, right?” Grin.

Ellandra watched Misha raid the cheesecake and cookies with a slightly nervous smile, then nodded. "All right, Misha; I'd get lost if I searched on my own, but with you that's not a danger at all, is it?" She said, her smile growing warmer. "And I'm sure you'll do a fine job at helping keep me safe from. . . whatever these things are."
She paused and tilted her head in thought. "How are we supposed to find these things when we know nothing at all about them?" She asked, blinking, but nodded at Misha's suggestion of checking every room they ran across. It sounded like a good idea. Though she wasn't sure what to do if they actually found one of the creatures.

”If they were dangerous m-... she wouldn't have let us go, right?” No doubt they were then, miss Mei wouldn't put everyone at risk. Nah. Never. ”It'll be a fun game, together.”
“Ha, she said they hide in objects, in shadows, and that we can touch them, I think. Don't know about electromagnetrons or whatever, but I think that's the gist. We'll just look around like hide-and-seek!” Bunny's all up for the chase! <3
Plate in hand, he took the lead taking her hand in his free one, and took her out the ballroom, rounded through the entrance hall into the wide hallway that didn't lead into the off-limits territory.
”Ssah, I suppose the guardsmen have the other territory covered... Which room do we check first?” Glance, glance, doors and doors... ”Cookie or cake?” he suddenly remembered he was holding a huge stash of yummy things, offered her to go ahead and take a pick, grinning like a fool. Oh look, he'd even brought little forks, how handy.
If anyone wanted to join their little party, they were free to, this bunny doesn't mind sharing!

Ellandra nodded softly, trusting Misha's judgment. "I wonder what they're like, these. . . darklings. Do you have any guesses, Misha?" Because if so, she'd like to hear them. Here she was caught in a storybook again, though she couldn't decide if this one was more mystery-adventure or horror-thriller just yet. Maybe once she saw a darkling she'd have a better idea.
She paused and loked at all the rooms down the hallway - my goodness, so many, how could anyone ever hope t ofind one of these darkling creatures? Distractedly, she smiled at misha. "Cheesecake, definitely," she said, a warm smile growing over her face as she decided to just try and enjoy the fact that she was spending time with her little brother-of-sorts, and not about to embark of a monster-chase through a manor with him
At last, however, she glanced around at all of the doors, before making up her mind on a whim. "Is there . . . a music room, perhaps?" That would be interesting to check - and if Banning had any wind instruments, she wanted to be able to admire them!

"I have NO idea, big sis, no idea. Never heard of anything like darklings, and I didn't know moth-... miss Lecter was working on anything like that. Guess we'll find out..." Misha pondered, then nodded and gave her a nice share of cake. Let's not go hungry now, hm?
"Music room? That's this way..."
The bunny lead Ellandra through the long hallway, peeked inside the door to the music room she'd requested, and snuck them inside. Nothing stirred, no sign of anything out of order.
"I doubt something odd is here... Apart from all this stuff, of course. If you want to look around, take your time, the party's not over for a long time."

Shade blinked as he listened to the announcement. It wasn't long before he found himself feeling a little nervous. He hoped that the creatures that this Mei girl had described really were docile. He could only imagine how badly things would turn out if one were to be aggressive. Despite his nervousness, he was ready to help in the search. Hopefully, no one would get hurt while they were looking.
The impling glanced to Elst and nodded in agreement. "Yeah, that...might be a good idea." They'd probably need all the help they could get, if there were going to find these things.

Ellandra nodded, smiling to Misha. "Well, truthfully I didn't pick this room to search so much as to just . . . look around," she admitted softly, her eyes dirfting over the various instruments collected around, all of them gleaming softly.
"I had flute lessons when I was a child, you see, and I suppose. . . they ingraind some sort of desire to see fine instruments, is all," Ellandra said, a sheepish blush gracing her features at such a silly reason for choosing this room.
Just about as silly a reason as it would have been to say, choose it by a number or some such thing. Still, the items here were beautiful - and if she'd caught Misha's little slip about the doctor, she gave no sign of it at all.

Verdant was about to walk over to Shade and Elst when he heard the announcement. Darklings? They sounded... not bad, but not good either. When the announcement was done, Verdant hurried over to the buffet table, set down the crystalline box holding his Spark, grabbed a slice of cake, ate it quite quickly, picked up the box, and turned to his friends. "Hey, so, um, would you guys mind if I went with you to search for these things? There's strength in numbers, right?"
Okay, so he really just wanted to be close to Shade to protect him and close to Elst and Aoi because they were his best friends. Going it alone... was not an option he'd choose, even if it was an option, which it was, so he was sticking to these guys like peanut butter to the roof of someone's mouth.

Elst nodded slowly at Shade, agreeing. Agreeing to what, though? His own statement? Regardless, they were still missing that important third piece…Time to play fetch, it seemed. Elst was just about to call over to Verdant to get his attention, but, before he could, Verdant turned around on his own. Convenient. He even walked over to greet them, oh wait, cake first, mustn’t forget the cake- Wait, there we go, now he’s coming over, all there’s left to do now is to ask him if he’d like to join the fledgling search part- wait, he already asked.
My, every goal Elst had just set for himself was completed without him doing a thing. All there was left to do was accept the proposal. Yes, very nice, all convenient and everything…this would definitely be an entertaining experience…
“Oh, glad you asked; we were just about to ask you to come with us anyway, conveniently enough…We’d be happy to have you search with us…” A grin arose on his face, hey, this’ll be an adventure, why not at least enjoy it?
Now, Aoi, was a little preoccupied with something else. Or better said, someone else. He seemed to sync to Shade’s mindset remarkably well, and he seemed…nervous. Now that just wouldn’t do; he already was dissecting around in there to figure out the best way to settle his nerves. Poor guy, he was so shy; Aoi seemed to hold an inexplicable urge to help him out of his shell. He reached out a thin, wispy hand to sort of grab at Shade’s for a moment.
Hmmm, you’ll be fine…with us…
