Aidan nodded, and began to follow Haucon as they made their way out of the circle of vendors and further into the city. The number of people milling around them seemed to multiply the closer they came to the area where the competitions were being held, which made Aidan slightly nervous. In answer to Haucon's question, she shrugged, before saying, "I wasn't really planning on it, though I probably would have out of curiosity." She had to move out of the way, as a pair of children came running toward her, swinging wooden swords. Smiling after them, Aidan finished, "It's alright though. It's not something I had my heart set on."

((Wow—Trigger and Electric, you two seriously hit it off! At least I didn’t miss much else in the way of other people role-playing. But, as you can see, I make my triumphant return to the RP board! Hopefully, someone else will return soon, too, so I don’t have to monologue by myself for too very long. razz ))

Today’s luck really had been rotten for Lenore. The first few ganders she’d made at taking some acceptable man home had ended in miserable failure (an event she still couldn’t quiet wrap her head around), and now was meandering the streets aimlessly, looking for anyone at all passable, fuming.

Then some little sneak had the audacity to nearly bowl her over. At this point, Lenore had just had it, and she shrieked after the elf maliciously, sounding all too demonic in her cry. She began to speed after the impetuous imp, itching to use her wings to help speed her along. As it was, Lenore could just keep pace with the monster in the (of course) blood red stiletto heels she had chosen to sport today. When Lenore caught up, there would be Hell to pay.

Tia’s luck, it seemed, had fared no better than Lenore’s own. It appeared that neither of their days would be improving any time in the future.

((Welcome back, Halcione. I'll roleplay with you for now. I do hope the others return too, but for another reason that may have nothing to do with the poll.))

Tia, in her mad dash from her disciplines, had not really concentrated on noticing the people. She just tried to avoid them, but as she was not physically adept, this was a slight problem. Truly, Haucon had the good mind to save Aidan from being run over. In Tia's mad run, she hadn't even noticed the fellow elf. The mage captain was already disgusted that she had to run through crowds of humans.

The white haired elf didn't notice the trouble that she caused until she heard some shrill shrieking behind her. She was running out of breath, and with each step, her anger at Lord Thomas was mounting for sealing her teleport. Adam was probably laughing at her, because he was always chiding at her on manual labor.

Tia took a chance to look backwards to see what the shrill shrieking was from, and sincerely hoped her disciples were held up. Unfortunately, she spotted a golden haired lady charging after her with an angry look on her face. Right. I should not have looked. The good news was that she couldn't see any of the disciples. The bad news was that, because she turned back to look, she crashed into a pole, giving Lenore ample time to catch up.

The mage was in a bit of shock from crashing, and not being physically strong, it was going to take her a few seconds or so to recover.

Haucon smiled at Aidan again ((he does a lot of smiling and nodding I've noticed...)). "I thought about entering, but there's really nothing I could've entered in. I'm not a bad shot at archery, but my skills are much more practical in nature. I can't hit a target to save my life, but put me in the woods and send a deer in front of me...different story all together." He shrugged. "I never did understand it but, it's helped me out in the past so I'm not complaining." They had nearly reached the sports grounds.

((I'm gonna be gone for the next week or so, sorry guys but I look forward to getting back into this!))

It had been a couple of hours before Cassie had said her farewells to Ian and made her way into a rather crowded bar around Redite Street. She was fairly small so no one noticed her sitting at a small booth in the corner. Cassie reached into her cloak and pulled out a small piece of paper. She growled her frustration. She still had no idea as to what Chronopolis was planning. Tapping her fingers against the wood, she sucked on her lower lip in thought. If she were to meet up with someone who knew the government inside out and was familiar with it's plans - she could work from there. How hard could it be to be friends with important people?

"May I interest you in - " A merchant began.

"NO!!"

Cassie watched the man move away with regret. Well, maybe she should try and turn into a people's person before continuing on with her half-assed plan.

If the noise wasn't deafening enough, a sudden "NO!" behind Shizuru didn't help out all. What was that? She spun around and frowned again because she saw the girl from the docks. "Oh, you again," Shizuru sighed. "Did you get lost already?"

((Many thanks, Scythe. Sorry about this taking a few days… I mysteriously was offered a job I never applied for. stare Weird. So now I’m working on Mondays-Wednesdays… but I can bring my laptop I found out, so posting should begin to be more prompt again.))

Ha ha! Lenore grinned widely in triumph as the white-haired creature plowed into an erected pole head-first. The demoness quickly used the intervening time it would take for the elf to recover to close the gap between them. She slowed somewhat to compose herself, and strode over to the crash site haughtily.

“How dare you!” She began, more projecting her voice than really yelling, “You filthy little creature.” Lenore snatched at the elf’s cloak, intending to make sure she didn’t slip away during her berating. Honestly, Lenore’s day had been absolutely dreadful, and someone had to pay for it. Tia was just unlucky enough to have been in the wrong place at the wrong time. She was just lucky Lenore was within the bounds of Chronopolis, else she might be enduring more than a tongue-lashing from the frustrated succubus.

Glaring down at the diminutive form, she continued, “If I was minded to, I’d report you to the constabulary. You’re little game nearly tousled me!” Lenore did not look at all tousled, rather if it were possible, more attractive than when she had been grumpily traipsing the streets. But no matter. She continued. “You’re probably a thief! Dashing through crowds and picking pockets as you go! I ought to have you searched.” Lenore eyed the elf suspiciously, though it was all an act. She knew that Tia was no pickpocket at all, Lenore being a thief herself. It hardly made a difference.

“Guards! Guards!” she yelled to the streets, hoping to find someone to dump this worthless lump of flesh upon. Now that she’d vented some, her rage was dying and the encounter was beginning to bore her.

((Congratulations on your random job, Halcione.))

"How dare you!" Tia heard as the mage held her head with her hands, finally reorienting herself with her surroundings. She softly muttered some elven swearing phrase before looking up. Tia hadn't noticed that Lenore was a demon, much less a succubus.

Before her was the blonde haired woman that had been charging after her, and now the rude human looking creature was raising her voice at the mage. Did the wench even know who she was? As she tried to turn away, the taller blonde whore grabbed her cloak and continued to spout whatever words came out of the human's mouth.

Tia narrowed her eyes. If anything, escaping her disciples had landed in almost a comparable position. With the way the woman was carrying on, her disciples would find her again. Curse you, Adam. Double curse you, milord...

Wait, a THIEF? Tia frowned. She was most certainly not a thief. "Enough with the erroneous accusations," the short elf hissed. She tensed when Lenore started calling for the guards. At this rate, people were going to catch attention of her. She was not going to stand for this. A simple spell to mute the damn woman would be enough or even a small invisible barrier enclosing the woman or both of them to prevent anyone else form hearing them. Tia was certain her lord had not limited her other abilities besides teleportion.

Annoying humans, Tia thought as she began to cast a quick spell to put up a small barrier. The barrier would stop Lenore's cries from continuing, but the damage was probably already done. The elf mage glared at Lenore. If anything, Tia was going to get her revenge on the wretch sooner or later, and she was planning on doing something with Lenore's hair.

-|- Hi yourself? :s -|-

Cassie looked up at the rather rude 'greeting' and frowned. It was that female doctor. The young woman glared at her and her ridiculous assumption.

"No. I am not lost! But thanks for asking." She responded sarcastically This woman and Captain Alan should go jump off a cliff. Does she look like someone who would get lost. With a sigh, she bit down on her lower lip. She didn't want to be rude.

"What brings you here?" She asked casually.

((Hehe. Jump off a cliff. XP))

The punky girl sure didn't let up with that sarcastic response. Shizuru didn't miss a beat when she answered.

"Just browsing the masses before everyone comes banging on my door for help. Were you escaping your escort?" Cassie was one of the people that had helped her earlier when she had apparently crashed into something in the harbor, but with an attitude like Cassie's, Shizuru wasn't really into being nice... and Shizuru wasn't normally nice anyway.

Just about to shriek a moaning wail for the guards to come to her aid, Lenore stopped short. She recognized the use of a magic spell; she’d been a demoness far too long not to notice the subtle signs of casting and effects. How the eddies and flows of energies… shifted. She instantly dropped her hold on the diminutive figure, staring at her hand as if it had some sort of sludge upon it. She clasped it close to her chest, staring at the elf as if she had sprouted fangs. With that expression of disgust, she looked the figure up and down, sizing her threat potential.

“Well, the dog knows a few tricks.” She said dismissively and smirked. Obviously, she had still come to the conclusion that Tia would not lash out terribly. Lenore couldn’t tell the effects of the spell, but there had been no harm done to her person, so she gathered that this mageling wasn’t violent in nature. Just… preventative. Shielding spell, mayhaps? Or a call out to someone for aid. How… utterly boring.

Deciding that this encounter was both taking longer and become more dangerous than she had originally expected, Lenore drew the conclusion that it was time for her to split.

“Well, my dear,” she cooed rather rudely, “you’d better count your lucky stars I was in a good mood today.” She gave a short laugh, bubbly and cascading, and not at all what you’d expect from someone so foul, but more than equal to her angelic appearance. She pivoted smartly, apparently leaving.

(( Dunno if your barrier is physical—feel free to have her crash into it in your post. I don’t mind the PowerPlay. She’s gonna head to Redite street since there’s some action going on there, if you let her go. razz Either way…. biggrin ))

((No, no, it was left vague for your pleasure. Let's go with not physical.))

The human calls me a dog now, hmm? Lenore was staring at Tia strangely as if she were a monster. The elf mage much rathered a look of fear than disgust. Tia herself donned a frown on her face.

Whatever the effect of Tia's spell had on the area, the pompous blonde had stopped her calling, almost too perfectly timed to when Tia had done the spell. The lady had experience with magic.

Unfortunately, guards and ... some of her disciples were already heading in their direction. Bristled again by Lenore's remarks, Tia found, to her dismay, that the only clear way was to follow Lenore. Given Tia's many years of living, the elf was not one to usually react strongly. However, today's events had already soured her mood, and she was sour that she was set on getting revenge on Lenore. A bumbling fool, that lady.

With a sigh, the mage ran after Lenore. "Count the lucky stars yourself too," she retorted. Then, she meekly added, "I'm not following you."

-|- It made me giggle too! ^__^ -|-

Cassie couldn't help but chuckle. "Escape? No. He had to leave and I was already familiar with the city." She responded lightly. "I guess you can say that I'm taking a break." She added with a small shrug. Cassie fiddled with indigo strands of hair as she stared at Shizuru. "I'm assuming you get really busy during festivals like this?" She asked curiously.

Now Lenore was pointedly ignoring the little elf, though she did lengthen her stride, doubtlessly forcing her shorter pursuer to have to jog to keep up. She walked with a purpose, making short work of the distance between the end point of her mad chase to Redite street. Here, Lenore was in her element. The atmosphere calmed her somewhat, and she began to slow slightly.

Looking around at the figures on the street, Lenore recognized more than a few faces. And from the unusual behavior of some of the Redite denizens, more than a few faces recognized Lenore. Conversations hushed slightly and a few figures pressed themselves against building walls, searching for shadows and allies. All of this did wonders for warming the cockles of her black heart. She luxuriated in her carefully cultivated reputation.

Two figures, whom Lenore did not recognize, caught her eye. New faces on Redite Street were far too common—people slipping to the lowest rung of existence as tables turned and fate spat upon them. But these two, apparently just idling the afternoon away with chatter, did not look as though they belonged in the unofficial Redlight District. Lenore slowed to a stop nearby where the pair stood, loitering amidst several other whores showing their wares who eyed her apprehensively.

Lenore knew that information was a key element to power, and this anomaly, however small and transient, could well prove worth the investigation. Without any regard for her self-proclaimed tag, she discretely began her own surveillance.
