Considering Sezer's explanation, Vlaityn then thought of a relationship that was only half magical. That is too say, one was a muggle. Now that might have been more difficult. Not that snogging wasn't snogging everywhere else to everyone else, but she was very sure convincing a muggle to eat something as grotesque as gillyweed and then go underwater was most likely an easier thing to imagine that actually attempt.

As the conversation shifted back to Joel, Vlaityn had to chuckle at Sezer's guess. "You know how they can get." Musing slightly, Vlaityn observed than numerous people that probably wouldn't notice a stampede.

"Infatuation strikes, everything else disappears in the torrent of love, a couple of people are squished by some centaurs." Flipping her hand as if dismissing the notion, she carried on with an ironic grin. "Teenagers will be teenagers, perhaps?"

Chuckling slightly, Vlaityn turned the conversation back to Joel, one of Sezer's favorite contemplative subjects. "I'm sure you'll get the whole scoop on his thought process later though. He loves to tell you of his life adventures."
PostPosted: Fri Feb 06, 2009 3:47 pm

Sezer nodded contemplatively, his hand on his chin in thought. He, as usual, began to dissect the situation from all sides. "Scientifically, it has to do with the process of the pituitary gland signaling the bodies to produce more hormones, which, in turn, stimulates certain desires. Specifically in blokes, as I'm sure you've noticed. Birds seem to have a better grip on it. Merlin knows why." He cracked a smile at his half joke.

"Looking at it from love's standpoint, it's pretty darn accurate that, supposedly, when you meet the one you're meant to be with, at least for us blokes, the lights stop, and, all at once, there's some sort of angelic spot light on her. Her hair glows prettily, her eyes are more gorgeous than precious stone, and you seem incapable, for those first few moments, to move your mouth. Let alone say anything or have a decent conversation with her."

He nodded, as if to ascertain that he was correct in his half assumptions, absently drumming his fingers patternlessly on his leg.

Vlaityn could only raise her eyebrows slightly. Did guys really feel that much? She was surprised, to say the least. Vlaityn had always figured guys never got past lust and infatuation. A rather narrow-minded, cynical opinion, she knew, but love was always a strange thing for Vlaityn to mull over, so she always simplified and butchered the process.

"That's fairly dramatic. I only thought girls got so.....struck." She admitted sheepishly. Oh how she hated to appear ignorant in front of Sezer. "Then again, it wold have to work similar for both genders. The whole time stops ticking, heart starts pounding thing. Only makes sense, even if it's, well, not completely logical all the time." Vlaityn let herself mull over it more. How did you know when you reached the love point? Did it vary? Did it matter?

"And all to pass on a few measly genes." She just had to smile wistfully. The thought had always struck Vlaityn as ironic.

Sezer directed his gray storm cloud heart eyes to her, listening intently as she described what female's went through. Being Sezer, he loved knowledge of any kind. Even if it wasn't exactly the most comfortable thing to discuss with one's girlfriend.

He had never experienced love, at least not as a child. Well, he did. To say that would be wrong, terribly biased, and undoubtedly stinging to his grandfather. Julius had taken him in when no one else could be bothered to care for an in fact; he loved his grandfather. He would die for his grandfather. He knew these things. Yet, somehow, though he never wished for something more, he did more often than not wonder what would've happened, how he would've turned out, if his parents hadn't become unspeakables and *dropped him. And, really, humans are creatures of wonder; how can one help but meditate about what ifs?

Particularly what ifs, in fact. They always drove him crazy. 'What if this?' 'What if that?' He'd like to say that he could just move on and not worry, but he'd be lying to himself.

"Hardly anything is logical anymore, it seems." He commented dryly, deep in thought. However, he soon extracted himself from his contemplation, instead focusing entirely on Vlaityn and smiling, noticing her lovely attire.

"Interesting description." He complimented her, almost laughing.

"I would have to agree completely." Vlaityn nodded when Sezer deferred to the lack of logic that seemed to have accumulated in their lives of late. Not that it was plaguing them, or anything of the sort. It was just there.

But at the sound of Sezer's amused voice, nearly humorous, she thought, Vlaityn broke into a grin. She just couldn't help herself when it came to his voice. She adored it. So laced with depth, even when just joking around of commenting politely. "Sorry. I'm not the most, ah, poetic painter of descriptions." She teased lightly. "If I come up with anything better, I'll update you. Just give me some time."

(( Continued from page 4... oh my it's been some time. D': ))

Dexter Nathaniel Owens
His blood was boiling by the time he could see Kani coming steadily closer. The fact that she looked exquisite made him sneer in the slightest, for it was obvious that she didn't even take much time to make herself as such. Heck! The girl was still doing her hair...while running! Ugh, and the way they fell like a tantalizing waterfall around her small form, 'is there no justice in this world?!'

The final straw was how adorably out of breath Kanita was upon her last steps towards him. And then she even apologized! "You're being entirely unfair, you hag." Dexter countered her compliment to him with a smirk but couldn't keep up the facade as she placed her lips on his to silence his next insult. Instead of returning her peck with a light one of his own like he normally would, Dexter cupped her chin and crushed his lips angrily to hers. He could feel her surprise in the slight gasp of air she managed to draw in between their connected mouths. Satisfied, Dexter pulled away and let his familiar smile slide into place. It was very, VERY rare that anyone witness his darker side. Even a friend as close as Kanita, for it was buried so deep within that letting it surface for even the smallest of moments made Dexter feel unfamiliar with himself. As if he didn't recognize who he was. And it was in times like these that he understood why that wretchedly old hat placed him in Slytherin. There was a dark side to him, but it wasn't as frequent as his more life-loving persona. Sometimes, the Slytherin boy felt like two seperate beings. But that didn't bother him, so he paid no mind to his more villainous side.

"My princess, I thank thee. Now, shall we continue to the party?" Holding our the nook of his arm for Kanita, Dexter fell back into his more comfortable setting with a sweet smile.

At first, a chuckle purred on Kanita’s lips at being called a ‘hag.’ But when she stood upon tiptoes and placed a soft kiss on Dexter, her humor was quickly pressed away by the rough force in Dexter’s response. Surprised by the uncommon harshness in his posture, her lungs took in a gasp of air. At first the petite witch tried to pull back, only to have herself held in place by his capture of her chin. It was all so uncommon, so… frightening. This wasn’t the sweet, lively Slytherin she became best friends with. It was something darker, hidden. And that thought brought a pain to her heart. She hoped that they were close enough to share everything. In fact, she strongly believed they knew each other inside and out. But this small, cold gesture from a Dexter she no longer recognized proved her beliefs false. This one moment, one kiss, sent Kanita reeling. But instead of struggling against the sudden abrasiveness in Dexter’s demeanor, Kani completely relaxed her body. Remained immobile. Allowing Dexter to pour his onslaught of confusion and turmoil into the passionately aggressive kiss…

And then she was released. Freed, to witness the change in Dexter, as if she was being given a private performance. Her mind sent pinpricks along her arms as a warning of danger. But… but this was Dexter. Her Dexter. And even as the p***k, p***k, pricking continued creeping along her skin, Kanita’s heart acted as an anchor. Keeping her body at bay till the hurricane passed. Instead of turning into Investigator Doyle and hounding her friend with the overwhelming questions that flooded her mind and poured from her ears, the Ravenclaw let her Slytherin comrade ease back into his comfortable skin.

Her lips pulled up, revealing a white smile.

“I say, we are going to make quite a late entrance. But please, my prince, lead the way.”

His mind was in shocked, motionless in confusion. There were parts of himself that were as unknown to him as they were to Kanita. It wasn’t a reassuring feeling. Rather, it left him with a copper taste in his mouth and the urge to shut his eyes. To keep even his inner mind from seeing the Dexter that hid in the dark corners of his mind. So his entire being filled with relief, that was visible in the relaxing of his shoulders, when Kani did not pursue the questions evident in her eyes. Surely this took a lot of strength, for Kanita was always someone who let her curiosity guide her actions. And the fact that she kept her wonderings locked behind smiling teeth made Dexter’s heart swell with love. The more his heart fed on Kanita’s obvious affections for his well being, the truer his smile became.

Pushing open the Great Hall doors, his fellow students were exposed in all their glittering gowns and fitted robes. Moments like this made it easy for Dexter to see why he found both witches and wizards attractive. He couldn’t pick one type of beauty over the other. Every trait, every gesture, was a different type of seduction in his eyes. Looping his arm around Kanita’s slim waist, Dexter smiled down at her. Now they could enjoy the night and leave all mysteries back in the hall.

Leading the way to the dance floor, Dexter had yet to really look around, instead focusing on his graceful companion. Waiting a beat for the music to seep into the soles of his feet, he then guided Kanita through twirling spins and sweeping dance steps. As the first song melted into the second, and then the third, this dancing Slytherin boy finally spun his date towards the beverage table for some refreshments. It wouldn’t be good to have sweat trickling down their necks so soon into the night.

“Kani, how in the world do your tiny feet keep up with me?” A chuckle jumped from his chest and joined the music. “What would be your choice of the night, spiked punch or.. spiked punch?” Glancing about quickly, Dex slipped a bottle from his robes and emptied its firewhiskey contents into the bowl, before stowing it back into the depths of his pockets. Grinning with childish enthusiasm, he scooped Kanita and himself two cups. “Well, here you are your majesty.” The impudence in the right corner of his lip caused light to dance in his eyes as he handed the cup to her.

“Cheery-o, mate!” Dexter sang out boldly and tipped back his head, downing the drink at once and pouring himself another.

The room was in absolute shambles; bed cover torn from the mattress, knick-knacks littering the floor, the lamp tipped over and casting the room in a flickering light. It was havoc. And all because of Pippa Darling's simple spell gone awry. Who knew that casting the levitating charm on a hairbrush that was unsuccessfully transfigured into half a blow dryer, half a pixie would produce the monster that was now terrorizing her room. Normally Pippa had the upper hand when it came to the subject of charms. But for some reason, today was just not her day. The cause? Stress--

"YOU HORRID, DEMENTED, MUTATED FIEND! I DEMAND THAT YOU HALT THIS SECOND! DO YOU KNOW HOW LATE YOU ARE MAKING ME FOR THE DANCE?! OOOhhhh, you're being impossible! I have enough problems already. What with trying to squeeze myself into my last year dress.. I shouldn't have had so many apple fritters this afternoon. And now my hair is, is...this mess!" Angry tears welled up in the Hufflepuff's eyes as she launched herself at the pixie-brush that hovered above her bed, only to miss it by a few meters and slam into her bed post with a groan. One single tear slipped down her rosy cheek as she held the rest in. 'No way will I give that monstrous thing the satisfaction of seeing my full misery. If I could just re-transfigure it into my hair brush...I don't even know why I tried to make a blow dryer?! It's not like they work in Hogwarts. This is ridiculous, why can't I have one sane moment to prepare for the dance? Hmmm, Merlin, can you answer me that?' Pippa didn't have to ask herself that question again. She wanted so badly to go to the dance in the hopes that she could corner Nearly Headless Nick and make him dance with her, at least once. Remembering this, Pippa once again hurled herself through the air, this time managing to take down her demon-created brush. Holding the creepily wriggling thing to the floor, the witch pointed her wand at its...neck-thingy... and performed the counter-charm. As it clattered lifelessly to the floor in its original brush form, Pippa sucked in a deep breath. "What a work out... and what a troll of a mess." Pip shook her head, looking around the room. 'Lucky that my housemates aren't here.'

About fifteen minutes later, room tidied, Pippa Darling stood in front of the mirror with narrowed eyes. Her cheeks were still flushed from her wrestling match with the mutant pixie, but now her palest of blond locks were brushed and pulled into an elegant up-twist with a few wavy strands escaping. Her mermaid-blue dress shimmered across the pale of her skin with every step. Nervously satisfied, Pippa's silver-blue heels clicked their way out of the common room and towards the Great hall. Her breaths began to come quicker and heavier as she neared her destination. Stopping completely upon reaching the entrance of the dance, Pippa closed her eyes and imagined a fantasy dance with the ghost of her dreams. The image of her own human hand clashing against Nearly Headless Nick's transparent one gave Pippa enough guts to pull herself together and finally enter the music filled room.

With bold determination, Pippa scanned the dance floor with a piercing, daydreamer's gaze. How she managed to capture both looks was beyond anyone's knowledge. But, disappointed, Pip did not find any ghostly being named Nick...yet. Reaching for the salt on a table, Pippa poured a handful in her palm, spun around, did a little gig and tossed it over her shoulders. According to her mother, that would bring luck and...and...'Well if I'm remembering correctly, I'm suppose to have a wish granted now as well. Hmmm.'

"Goddess of table top salt, I want to have a fun night tonight!" I guess it was no wonder that some thought of Pippa Darling as somewhat of a loose screw. After dusting the remaining salt from her gown, Pip hopped over to the dance floor and swayed with an imaginary dance partner, paying no heed to her surroundings for the moment...

Unlike her friend, the moment they entered the Christmas Dance, Kanita’s gaze soaked in everything. But her focus didn’t linger long enough, on any one person, to recognize who it was she observed. It was the decorations and formal wear that stole her attention. She always had a fond spot for fashion and décor, so this event was really quite the treat. Before Kani could tear her eyes from the clothes and really look at her fellow students who were actually within the fabric, she was swept onto the dance floor.

Quickly falling into Dexter’s dancing pattern, Kani let him lead her with ease into every dip an turn. She felt alive with the energy that flooded from her tall, broad partner. Was able to read his next move by simply feeling the muscles that flexed in his body under her hands. His eyes seemed a reflection of the restlessness that glittered in her own. So when they danced to song after song, it was a joy to have a way to release their tension and enjoy the night.

When finally it seemed to dawn on the witch that such thin heels might not have been a smart choice for such an event, Dexter finally guided her away from the music’s stage. A bit short of breath and mussed up from the seemingly ceaseless spinning, Kani only managed a smile in response to Dexter’s small feet comment. Though a tired grin, it was bright and lively all the same. And as the sneaky Slytherin tampered with the punch and handed the both of them the resulting beverage, that grin stretched to make her irises sparkle. Blowing at a strand of hair that tickled at her nose, Kani raised her cup in a celebration. “Cheers love!” And sipped at her own drink.

Now that they were finally standing still, her eyes flew from face to face, looking for one of familiarity. Seeing a few friends, Kani wanted to make her way through the crowd to demand a dance and laugh with them. Finishing the drink with a last gulp before setting the empty cup back down, the Ravenclaw tugged on the sleeve of Dexter's impressive dress robes.

"Come on, lets greet our friends Dex!"

Sezer smirked. "You'd be surprised, I wager, at the inner working's of the males mind." He grinned conspiratorially. At least for him. In all actuality, his grin was strictly standard. At least in the eyes of those who did not know him. In fact, you had to know him fairly well to even begin to discern the glint in his eyes that could only be correctly identified as conspiratorial tendencies. "Yes," he murmured contemplatively still, his eyes scanning the crowd even as he spoke to her. "they are quite bothersome pests of feelings, aren't they?"

His eyes stopped, widening for the briefest of seconds, as he caught someone dump a bottle of fire whiskey into the punch. Springing into action, he rose from his seat, angry now. "Don't drink the punch, whatever you do." He warned her. Though Sezer was no longer a prefect, he felt it his duty to address and right the situation. However, some were of age here, but the majority of people were not of age. He took a deep breath and abruptly sat back down.

"It appears Mr. Owens has violated very nearly the only rule this dance has. He's spiked the punch." He informed her through narrowed eyes and slightly clenched teeth, attempting to calm himself.

After a few more awkward, silent moments, Ascella moved slowly, but swiftly to the wall. Her shoulders were slightly cold in the 'snowing' Great Hall, her hair was coated in a very light snow, but it only complimented her appearance even more.
Maybe I should just go back to the Common room. Everyone is here, so there wont be anyone there to bother me. I can take a nice long hot shower, and curl up with...Oh, that's right. I've already finished the books I got for christmas. The only thing I have yet to go through is the photo album Melanie sent me. Mel....I wish you were here, and you weren't married to that b*****d.
Right then and there, Ascella noticed Dexter, doing one thing that he could almost always be accounted for.
Spiking the punch.
Almost immediately, Ascella went over to the punch bowl where Kani, Dexter, and the alcohol was.
With hardly an acknowledging nod to her friends, Ascella poured a rather full glass of 'punch', eager to down the contents of the glass.
I really need to stop this. I have already been drunk twice in the past year. Kales Party, and Bastille. It isn't good.
Right at that thought, Ascella poured another glass.
"Dexter!" Ascella finally exclaimed, her cheeks just slightly red after drinking her second glass.
"Thank you so, so much. I really needed a bit of flames..If you know what I mean." With a wink and a nudge, Ascella smiled, hoping that she would be able to restrain herself from drinking anymore.
Put the glass down.
Now.

Taking another sip, Ascella looked around the room. Still no sign of Bellator.
What was I expecting. It's like he hasn't even been here, why would I expect him to be at the dance?
After finishing her second glass, Ascella finally set her cup down, restraining herself from filling it up again.
"Well Dex, good thing you aren't allowed in the younglings dance. They would be so drunk!"

Dexter felt a glare warming the back of his neck and angled his body towards the crowd behind him. Casually casting a glance around the room till his eyes landed on a rather angry looking Sezer, Dexter felt a bit rueful and smirked at the boy before turning back to his friends without another glance backwards. About to answer Kanita with as much enthusiasm as her question contained, instead a smile engulfed his features yet again.

"Ascella! I was wondering when I'd have the pleasure of being in your glorious presence." With mock carelessness, Dexter's left hand 'accidentally' knocked Ascella's cup to the floor while his right hand took Cella's. With a deep bow, his lips grazed her slim fingers, before straightening up with a nod. "Ah, yes, everyone needs just a bit of fire in their blood. Always good to take in moderation."

Not releasing Cella from his grasp, Dexter tugged her softly in the hopes she'd come to his side, but with not enough force to demand it of her. For some reason, he was always more careful when it came to his pale, delicate friend. She was precious to him. Following her motions, he too looked around the room for Kale, knowing it would bring this witch a smile.

"Heh, those small fries need a bit of excitement! Though I wouldn't daaare." A gleam was obvious in his left pupil at the thought of drunken midgets making a ruckus... but it was better left as just that. A thought.

Vlaityn's eyes lit up somewhat at Sezer's unorthodox and angry reaction to Dexter being, well, Dexter-ish.
"Well of course he did. He always does. Let's just hope he's using less than he did at Kale's party." She mused slightly.
'I could go for a drink though.'

"Firewhiskey again, I'm assuming?" Questioning it lightly, Vlaityn hoped her calmness might settle Sezer a bit. But really, the chances of that were quite close to nothing. Seeing his feathers so ruffled by the breaking of rules, Valityn decided now was not a good time to float the comment of 'Tell me if you see some scotch.'.

Tearing her mind away from the prospect of how good that punch probably was, Vlaityn took in the fact that it was the first time she had seen Dexter tonight. And where there was Dexter, there was bound to be.... Ah yes. There she was. Kanita was well. Ascella, looking as composed and beautiful as always. And unless Vlaityn was completely mistaken, Pippa had just disappeared into the crowd to waltz. The sight of everyone just put a grin on Vlaityn's face.

Then again, maybe that was for the want of the punch...

She threw a wink over her shoulder, and practically skipped florescently down the stairs to the Great Hall, careful not to slip or anything of the sort and injure herself further. It seemed that all her ankle needed was rest. After landing on a carpet somewhat awkwardly, flinging it into the wall as she trotted past it in the process, she found herself in front of the hall. Not at all caring that she was defying the dress code horribly, adorned with her too big T-shirt and her Gryffindor pride bottoms, she flounced into the big room, a shower of white landing on her head as she opened the door.

Not at all bothering to glare at the people who stopped their dancing to stare at her peculiarly, in particular a few looks from a few of the more prissy witches who didn't exert any effort whatsoever to hide their obvious loathing of her attire, she searched for Pippa thoroughly. She found her shortly, making her way through the crowd sneakily. Being the corrupt little sixth year that she was, she tapped three times her friend's right shoulder, only to quickly change her footing so that she appeared in front of her, her hands clasped together behind her back, grinning.

Just then, it registered in her mind that she, Pippa, had just been waltzing by herself. Never one to leave her hanging, she quickly joined in, inserting herself in the other position her friend wasn't playing, what she assumed to be the male role.

"Hello, there, Dear Pippa."
