Both of my parents LOVE LP. They both went to the concerts with me. My dad has seen some kick @$$ bands back in his day and he says LP is THE best live by far out of any bands he's seen. Its fun. My parents rock!

I'm 19 and my dad is 42 and he loves most of the bands that I do. He was even going to take me to a concert. . .but they cost a shitload of money. It's crap. They so need to lower their ticket prices!!

Just recently (last week), I was reading a thread in this guild, and my mother saw one of the banners. She was shocked and yelled at me.

"You do not need to be involved with Linkin Park!"

I assured her it was only a signature (and exited the guild as quickly and inconspicuously as I could before she could see the guild title); I have no control over what others want to place in it. Sadly, it is now risky to enter this guild at home; I have to do so at school or if I know my mother is out of the house...

I could not but help smile inside, knowing that I listen to "Numb" and "In the End" frequently, sometimes almost to full blast, and she does not care. So long as she never figures out the band (she probably will not; she does not think to look for lyrics online), my music is safe.

She needs to go shove her head in the toilet 3nodding

As much as this issue annoys me, kindly do not disrespect her. For the most part, she is wonderful. Yes, she has her quirks, but she is also a decent parent, gifted to be able to raise ten children (yes, I do have nine siblings---lucky me, I am the oldest) and give us what we need. It is natural for a parent to be concerned about what their child does or listens to, and it is great to know that she cares for the welfare of my being, unlike so many other of my friends.

There is actually some humor in this, though. The other day, she was putting some of my files back onto our computer (it had been infected with several viruses, we had just gotten it back, and all of our files were saved to disks. However, the disks were still infected and had to be run through a special program before installation). The scanning program was goign through m files rather quickly, and she was reading parts of the files as they came up.

"Stories...pictures...role play...role play...Linkin Park..."

She said it so calmly it was amusing. She gave me this playful "Pssh" and a flick of her hand as my song files passed by, and it was like she had not cared before. I was very amused by this and had to smile.

biggrin mums are silly sometimes, aren't they? my mum hated LP and any other rock band. She said it was "devil music" haha, but she didn't really care so much, ya know? . . .eh. . .plus when your mum's gone it's kind of hard to be mad anymore.

general message: don't take your parents for granted. . .what they're doing is in your best intrest. . .and you never know when one or both of them will be gone. sad

Yes, parents can be weird. Mine generaly don't care so long as the band isn't cursing or screaming---which eliminates some of their songs (exception of things like ""Runaway," where there's like, 30 seconds or less of screaming), and I tend to listen to a lot of other stuff anyway, so yeah. And LadyShini and Nightmare1 are both right. Don't take your parents for granted, especially if you're lucky enough to have ones that care.

My dad and I have the same taste when it comes to rock music but completely disagrees with the rap, except Eminem. Gotta love Eminem! ^.^ But my mom doesn't care what I listen to but doesn't nessecarily mean she likes it.

My mom said that I can't buy them anymore because she saw that parental warning on Collision Course.
PostPosted: Thu Mar 31, 2005 7:22 pm

my moms first reaction
mom: *banging on door* MARK WAT ARE YOU DOING
me: *turning down stereo* listening to music
mom: well could you keep it down

she doesnt really care what i listen too as long as its not just a long string of cusswords she couldnt care less which i think is pretty cool, but if my dad were still alive i doubt he would have been as accepting of the music i listen too and i can guarantee he woulnt have like me listening to slipknot.

aww now that's a bummer! *pat pat* well. . .it's the venue, yes, but it's also the people they choose to tour with that jack the prices. Gah! If they would tour with unknowns the ticket prices wouldn't be so threatening to my bank account!
