The kiss surprised him. It was sweet and had affection behind it, something he hadn't felt in a long time.
It sort of settled the whole matter to him: he was going to look out for Jess no matter what.
"We'll do this again. And any time you need me, you just give me a call, alright? Even if you just need to go walking or something."
He wasn't sure if Jess wanted to go home right then and there or if she enjoyed sitting out on the roof with him, but he was getting that feeling that they should at least get on solid ground again.

She gave him a more genuine smile, nodding as she looked down. "I'd like that very much... And if you want someone to spend breaks with... or just want someone to just.. be with... call me and I'll be over in two seconds flat." She promised in return, pushing a little of her hair behind her ears.
"Though...for now... what do you want to do?" She asked. "I'm up for anything...the night is still relatively young..." She shrugged cocking her head at him.

"We should do one of your favorite things."
Alex stood and offered his hand to her. They'd promised to be there for one another, had told each other very personal things and had exchanged phone numbers and kisses. It was time to just... calm down.
"Walking." He didn't know where to, or what they would do, but she was right. The night was young, and it would be a shame to just go home.

She smiled bigger, taking his hand and standing, dusting herself off a bit and pulling her hair down to attempt to make it more presentable. "Sounds amazing.." She smiled, lacing her fingers with his and turning so they could get off the roof and spend a little more time together.

Alex helped her step carefully in the dark. Once they made it on solid ground, he took her by the hand and together they began walking into the night.

Today was the day when Jess wanted Alex to watch out for some guy who had swept her friend right off her pretty little feet. He didn't know what to do if he did see something odd, but he would report his findings once he got off his shift. Really, he wasn't too concerned about someone else's relationship. Kitty, though, was a nice girl he'd met a few times before, and he'd look out for her.
All he needed was for them to actually get there, though.

He didnt have long for almost imediately, Nathan escorted Kitty into the cafe, holding the door and offering to take her jacket like a true gentleman. "Mmm...Smells so good in here...." He noted with a smile, heading up to the counter to order. "What would you like?" He asked.

And there was his cue. There was the sweet girl Kitty, and there was the tall dark and handsome snake in the grass that Alex was supposed to look out for.
And yet, Alex couldn't really say anything other than this guy was being very polite.
Kitty saw Alex's name tag and smiled, forgetting about ordering altogether.
"I know you!" she exclaimed. "You've come into the shop a few times. Alex, and you're dating Jess?"
Her forwardness made him blush and grin stupidly, and he wished she had just ordered a mocha. He was being examined now, instead of the other way around.
"Yeah... and you're Kitty, right? What'll you have today, Miss Kitty?" His eyes went to Nathan, and while they weren't hostile, he was careful not to look too happy. Well dressed, he thought. And they're coming here, to the cafe? There are better places around town than this place.
Kitty interrupted his thoughts as she ordered a bagel, toasted with cream cheese and jam, along with a mocha cappucino. A sweet order for a sweet young woman, he thought.

'Nathan' Ordered a Mocha Latte with an extra shot of esspresso for himself, as well as a small brownie of somesort as he pulled out his wallet to pay for the two.
Hidden from Kitty's view were quite a few various ID cards, each with a different name. Though it would have been diffificult to see for anyone unless they were looking. "So You all know each other? What a small world. Jess is a wonderful girl from what I know of her..." He nodded in an amiable fashion. Indeed what he knew of her which unebknownst to most of them was quite a lot...

Alex cocked an eyebrow, but it was such a subtle, twitchy gesture that he recovered quickly.
"Well, we get a lot of customers who go between the cafe and the bookstore. They sort of go hand in hand, yeah? That'll be ten credits."
He knew his Jess... knew of her, and yet Jess didn't like this guy at all. So Nathan knew of Jess, but Jess knew next to nothing... He didn't like this one-sided knowing at all.
Kitty, of course, was just smiling and waiting for her drink to be made.

Samson could imediately sense the tension between him and Alex. It was a sixth sense almost he had developed over the years. Alex was suspicious. "Darling, how about we go find a seat, and maybe we'll get a chance to chat with Alex after a bit hm?" He placed a hand on her back to lead her away from the situation in hopes of jsut keeping things simple with his plan...

"Yeah, we're holding things up a bit, aren't we? Later," she said, picking up her drink and order to be lead to a seat. Alex watched after them for a few seconds before diverting his attention to the next customer.
Yeah, he thought. Yeah, this wasn't good. So subtle, that suggestion he had given to walk away, but it was there.
Kitty, though, was just happy to be with someone who called her darling and fawned over her that nothing seemed to phase her.
"Ah, this is lovely, isn't it?" she asked, giving him one of her wide smiles that lit up her face. "He's right. People usually go to my shop and head over here to read what they bought. It's a nice sort of partnership."

Whenever she smiled like that it always brought out a genuine smile form Samson as well. Which he wasnt sure he liked.
"I'll bet...thought whats odd is I've passed by here a few times, i hardly have time to come in and justrelax...ecspecially with such beautiful company..." He winked, taking a sip of his coffee as he pulled out a chair for her.

"You flatter me, sir..." Kitty broke off a bit of her bagel and handed it to him to try. Sharing food was something she liked to do with friends, because in a way it was her taking care of them.
"I don't think I've enjoyed a cafe outing like this in a long time. Why don't you ever relax, though? Is your life really that exciting?"
Even she had time, and she ran her own shop. Heck, she was away from it that very moment having coffee and laughs with a handsome man.

Samson smirked al ittle at the table shurugging but taking the bagelwith a smile. "Not nessecarily exciting..." he sighed taking a nibble as he offered her some of his brownie. "Really just...hectic and non stop..." He furrowed his brow, looking down at the table. He was getting tired of this hectic lifestyle. All this running all the time. "Only a bit longer...." He sighed softly to himself, suddenly looking sad.
