"I am just fine with my age right now." Monroe also noticed Alok's tail fleetingly brush against her own. She put off the happening as a coincidence. "The age when you can go about doing what you like without having the grown ups and higher ups stopping you, ya know." She giggled, "I'll be taking that back in a few years!"

"When you become a teen you'll have so much energy you won't know what to do with it!" Monroe giggled, "Seems so far off... But when it happens you won't know what hit you!" Her tail encircled Riima, acting on its own accord.

Riima scoffed at Alok's response and peered at him disbelievingly. "Well Roe, when are we going to the forest?" It was almost morning and the sun was rising over the hilltops.

"I suppose it is first light, then?" Monroe glanced east-ward, where she could make out the sun's first gleaming rays stretching across the horizon. "Looks like we found ourselves that den for nothing," She sighed, they put quite a bit of effort into making it an acceptable dwelling.

"I suppose we could! Unless some other creature comes along and follows suit, taking our unoccupied den when we're not there." Monroe stood up, yawning. "As I recall, we had plans to catch breakfast in the nearby River." She reminded the kit, for Riima looked excited enough to scale mountains just so she could get to the forest.

The last to arise was Alok, who stretched his back legs individually before giving his entire body a shuddering shake. Somewhat refreshed, he prepared himself for departure, as now he really did have to venture elsewhere. "You two be safe now, alrigh'? Thanks again fer lettin' me enjoy tha stars with ye." With that, he nodded to both and trotted off, heading towards his den.

Roe watched Alok's departure until he was obscured from sight. She then turned back to Riima, "You know that when your energy runs out, and believe me it will, you are going to regret skipping breakfast." She said manner-of-factly, "Why not try catching yourself something with all that stamina?"

"I'll try," Riima replied, also following Alok with her eyes. "I'll just scare it away." She crept into the nearby bushes sniffing at the ground with her silver nose. She scented some mice and rabbits and crept in that direction. Looking up, Riima saw a young rabbit nibbling on some grass. She stalked up to it, but she was upwind. The small rabbit took off and Riima followed. She lept on top of it and pinned it down. "Roe, I got it!" She shouted, "I need help!"

For a minute or so, Monroe just gaped at the scene. She watched as the rabbit bucked against Riima's restraint. As Riima cried for help, Roe trod over to where the kit was struggling with the rabbit. Briskly, she fastened her jaws around the rabbit's neck and held tight 'til it became still. She simply let go, the rabbit falling limp on the ground.

Riima was shocked with herself at this act. Her mouth gaping open she looked back at Monroe.

"Oh, come on, Riima! We've had rabbit for dinner yesterday night and you hadn't any objections to Alok's slaughter." Monroe looked down at her kill, "You'll have to do such things yourself eventually, you know." She sighed, "Why don't we eat hastily and start heading towards the forest?"

"Ah! Had me worried there for a second!" Monroe laughed and breathed a sigh of relief. If a fox felt compassion for its kill, it would surely starve. "Wait 'til those canines grow in! You're surely a natural."
