9 The Hogwarts Monthly Welcomes a New Staff Member to Its Ranks By Figgy Prewett
-----Recently, Daine Salmalin has been hired and added to the Hogwarts Monthly staff list as their Assistant Editor. Her jobs will include helping our lead editor, Mafala Prewett, by taking up the slack in her work load. An editor, of any kind, for the Hogwarts Monthly essentially makes the finished product look good. They do the normal spell-check and make sure each article makes sense, fixing wrong spellings and asking the author about confusing sentences. The job less associated is that of entering the correct BBC coding for each article so that the entire issue has a less confusing and uniform look. This job often takes a few hours of work, which could be better spent writing of researching or improving the paper in some way. So, this addition will, likely, help make the paper even better. Who is this girl, though? I hear you all ask. Well, I have interview her just so you, the reader, can get to know her a little better. -----Daine became a Gaian about two years ago, when a few friends at her new school showed it to her because they were already part of the Gaia craze. “I kind of accidentally ended up getting into” she explained. She joined our own guild only about a month ago and immediately was drawn to the paper and began bombarding the editor, Mafalda Prewett, with private messages. “I hadn’t seen anyone so interested in the paper in quite some time, so who was I to complain?” Mafalda commented. Soon Daine had not only come up with an idea for an advice and gossip column but she decided she wanted to do more for the paper and filled out her application. Mafalda was hesitant, at first to hire Daine, “I don’t think I would have hired her if her application hadn’t been so professional and yet so down to earth. She didn’t seem like you’re average newbie to the guild who tries to participate in as many things as possible and then disappears.” Well, she hasn’t disappeared, she’s been in contact with Mafalda ever since her first private message to her. Her appointment was a bit too late for her to be of much use for this issue, but the editor admits her excitement to have Daine’s assistance in preparing for the next issue. “I have a feeling she’s going to be an asset much more valuable than you’re regular editor;” Mafalda admitted, “she has fantastic and do-able ideas.” Funny enough, Daine admits that her favorite part of the past issues was the advertisements between the articles, which Mafalda has long prided herself as her “personal touch” to the paper. Daine also has a similar liking to the idea of posting “foe ads” for items for the magical world. Well, it seems obvious that this new addition to the staff will be a leading cause of many improvements in the paper in the future.

12 ----Awards are back! Some are handed out every issue, some only every 4 or 6. These are the writers that are considered, by their colleges, their readers, and myself, as especially talented...
Congratulations to... Storm Teneviel! With a total of 867 words for this issue alone! *~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~* Congratulations to… Angilwingz! with her article titled: A Teacher's Plans Ruined *~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~* Also, I would like to celebrate the paper’s renewal with our first People’s Choice Award since the paper went into hiatus. All you need to do is PM the HogwartsMonthlyRep with the name of your favorite article from this and the past two articles (making a total of three).

13 Final Note from the Editor: ----Did you like that issue? I'm glad if you did, but if you think it is still lacking please send me feedback via PMs. I enjoy "Good Work!"s but in order to continuing a constant upward climb I must receive things to work on. So tell me what you seriously think and you don't have to sugar coat it.. wink
Thank you for your comments in advance, Mafalda Prewett (Signing Off)
