Peter began to inwardly panic. I can't tell her that! She'll find me out! I know she will! She's just so smart! What do I do? Lie? No, I'm a dreadful liar... WHAT DO I DO?!
Outwardly Peter actually managed to remain mostly impassive. He began to ring his hands nervously, but that was the only outward sign of his inner turmoil. "D-d-dunno!" he squeaked. Then he gave a jittery laugh at his squeaky tone. "Perhaps a mouse, with that squeak of mine!"
Well... that's sort of lying... as you're actually a rat... People don't think there's a difference, but there is... He glanced anxiously at Lily to see if she was onto him.

Lily noticed that Peter became pretty jettery as she asked the question, but then giggled when he said the reason of him thinking he'd be a mouse. "Hmm...A squeaky mouse? Well, it would sure be easy to hide when something embarrassing happens..." Lily's voice trailed away, as if she were thinking of some embarrassing moments that did actually happen.

Peter laughed again. "Yeah, it can be pretty handy for - I mean, it would be pretty handy for that. Y'know, if one were to be a mouse Animagus. Which I'm clearly not." He said, grinning nervously. Dammit, Pete! You've blown it this time. She's going to find you out, you know she will! And then the lads will never forgive you for giving up their secret! As was usual, his mind was overreacting. But it had a tendancy to do that.

Lily laughed. "Yea, don't you have to get registered to be an Animagus? Do you have to be a certain age?" Lily had curiosity in her eyes, almost like she wanted to become an Animagus...

"Yea, that would be bad if someone were an unregistered Animagus..." Lily thought outloud. But would it be bad enough to get landed in Azkaban?

"Great!" Lily got up and packed all her stuff together and waited for Peter. It's so nice to be able to hang out with a guy without anything 'going on'. Peter even seems a whole lot more mature than James; he doesn't make all those strange and rude comments.
