Akiko nodded, trying to shake her mindset and try again. She didn't mind going this late, and she was certain Aunt Yuki would understand, but she realized how it could affect her training the next day. After all, just yesterday, she stayed up almost until the break of dawn trying to finish learning her assigned jutsu. Because of that, today she was completely worn down and had a very difficult time learning. So, Akiko hoped that she could finish this exercise and proceed straight home.
She decided to have another look. By now, the poor boy's head was little more than a pile of wasted gauze. She approached quite timidly, still not comfortable with the sight of blood. She exhaled and began her work. First, she had to do something about the gauze; probably, a good portion of it was wasted. Still, she picked off enough of it that could potentially be salvaged. As for the rest of the bloody mess, she took off what she could, but she knew that some of it had to stay. She wasn't quite certain how much, though. Soon, she had undone the damage she did, but she was still making very little progress. She shuddered at the sight of so much damage, and she didn't quite know what to do. She could remember the instructions written in the book, but for some odd reason there was a disconnect between actual practice. She reasoned that she was unaccustomed to seeing casualties, and seeing all of that blood was a little traumatic. She wondered what it would like to be out in the field and see all of this and more--and, perhaps, even be the cause of it. She sighed, wondering if she had chosen the right path.
Akiko: Fix up Sorri! Use the gauze and tend to Sorri's wounds. Clean it up properly and then inspect the wound to decide whether or not he needs stitches. DC: 23 1d20 + Knowledge (6) + Intelligence (5) + Assistance (3) = haaaaaaate... Train: 1/3 Special: Sorri can wake up after the exercise is completed.

She shook her head. She couldn't be giving up like this, not so soon! She knew she had to force herself to confront this problem and help this poor boy. To ease her own mind and give herself some semblance of progress, she decided to tend to the arm first. It had a small cut on it, and it was bent at an odd angle below the elbow. She felt around it carefully and determined that it wasn't nearly as bad as she had thought--perhaps just a fracture, if that. She wrapped some gauze around the wound and put it in a splint, just to be on the safe side. Once she was certain that the arm was immobilized, she moved on to the head.
She couldn't see much through the mess of gauze and blood, so she decided to start cleaning the wound. She took one piece of gauze and moistened it in the soon-to-be-overflowing faucet nearby. Then, she carefully wiped away the blood and gauze. Now that she was in the thick of it, it began to seem more like a puzzle, if anything. As the debris cleared away, she began to see more and more. Right before her eyes, the nature of the accident was being revealed to her...
Akiko: Fix up Sorri! Use the gauze and tend to Sorri's wounds. Clean it up properly and then inspect the wound to decide whether or not he needs stitches. DC: 23 1d20 + Knowledge (6) + Intelligence (5) = Thank God. Train: 2/3 Special: Sorri can wake up after the exercise is completed.

The stench of blood was starting to get to her. She had cleared away most of the mess now, and there wasn't any more unnecessary gauze lying on the wound. Akiko laughed nervously, reflecting on the folly of her original reaction. Still, she was getting distracted and a little messy, so she had to take a step back. She looked at her hands, realizing that she had sullied them considerably. A further glance downward showed some blood dripping down her dress, which was already stained. The delicate flowers printed on the front were now eclipsed by a cloud of crimson-brown. She sighed, realizing again that she really wasn't dressed for this sort of thing. She had really liked that one, too...
Akiko: Fix up Sorri! Use the gauze and tend to Sorri's wounds. Clean it up properly and then inspect the wound to decide whether or not he needs stitches. DC: 23 1d20 + Knowledge (6) + Intelligence (5) = GAH! Make it end! >< Train: 2/3 Special: Sorri can wake up after the exercise is completed.

“You’re doing very well so far Akiko. I think you’re starting to get the hang of this. Just don’t worry about your clothing. When dealing with casualties you’re bound to get messed up. How about this. If you finish up Sorri I’ll see if I can talk Yuki or Aya into getting you a new dress.” Kumiko replied with a smirk. She was happy that Akiko was getting so involved and sticking it through to the end. The nurse may just need to ask the Tenmoki anbu to give the girl the morning off tomorrow. Her blue eyes continued to watch the young child’s progress.

Akiko chuckled uneasily. She didn't know why she was looking at herself anymore, but she certainly did feel embarrassed. She didn't want to come off as vain--that just wasn't who she was. She decided to prove herself by doubling up her efforts and fixing the boy in front of her.
She got another wet pad and diligently mopped up the rest of the blood, taking care not to move the scalp around. It came off and revealed some surprisingly superficial wounds, which didn't look like much of a challenge at all to clean up. The nurse was right; there was a lot of blood, but the wounds weren't much of a problem at all. A couple were close, but none of the cuts looked like they needed to be stitched up. Instead, she picked up a bottle of clear fluid that the book had indicated would help fight against infection. As she lightly dabbed this substance across the scalp, she noticed that the boy was flinching from this. She concluded that he must have been close to waking up, so she hurried so he wouldn't experience too much pain. Finally, she took the remainder of the clean gauze and wrapped his head firmly, taking care that it wasn't too tight. She wasn't sure exactly how to tie it off, so she simply tucked it through a couple loops on the right side of his head. She backed up, surveying her work briefly before proceeding to the sink. After ridding her hands of all the blood, she pushed her sleeves back down and walked back to the nurse. She wasn't exactly sure what to say, nor did she know what to expect. So, she simply held her hands behind her back and looked up at her inquisitively.
Akiko: Fix up Sorri! Use the gauze and tend to Sorri's wounds. Clean it up properly and then inspect the wound to decide whether or not he needs stitches. "Oh, that's a great idea, Yuki-sama!" Orika chirped as she raced to get the milk. Ah! The storeroom had so many choices, with everything from skim to whole to flavored milks/ Two lights reflected on each glass bottle, creating the illusion of eyes staring so impassively at her. It was annoying! Orika grabbed a bottle of 2 percent and scurried out of the room. Good, the tea was just about done! She poured in a little bit of milk and tested her wonderful creation. The girl nearly choked. The soothing chamomile and mint and milk clashed like samurai and shinobi in the first infantry wave. "Great idea, but that ain't happening," Orika said aloud, returning the milk from whence it came. Anyone brave enough to endure the disgusting flavor would be knocked out immediately from all the calming substances. However, Yuki's idea of adding milk gave her an idea. She found a bottle of honey and added just enough for that sugar sweet taste to show through, but not enough to get anyone too hyper! There! Orika set the tea on a tray and walked out into the main room where a multitude of people were gathered. It shouldn't be too hard to make herself heard. "HEY!" the girl shouted, raising the tray, "Would anyone like any tea? I made chamomile mint with a touch of honey. Tell me what you think!"

Shinichi did not expect Aya to react any differently so he too shunned her. It was a relationship he would have to work on, but much later. For now, well, Kumiko's little prank was more deserving of his attention. The Kage smirked and turned away, whistling and pretending not to see any of Kumiko's antics at painting Sorri's face up. Even if people did blame him, the ink would wash off. "Haa, Tenmoki-san," he said, not really wanting to get back to work, but desiring stress all the same. Before leaving, though, Shinichi decided to take a step in the right direction and picked up a cup of Orika's tea, downing the near boiling liquid in one gulp. "Ah..." he muttered, returning the cup, "Mm, it's good. You should make this more often." It was almost as if the ghost of Mai lived within the girl, but wisely Shinichi declined to say anything. For some reason, bringing up dead people got people all emotional. Surely he wouldn't react with pain if someone talked about Harada or Ichi. Maybe. With a shrug at his own thoughts, Shinichi took off towards his office.

“Heh. The kid has knack for this once she get serious.” Kumiko thought with a sly smile. Her palm gave the girl a small pat on the shoulder. “Very good Akiko. You did well today. And to think a few minutes ago you wanted me to fix Sorri up, but I don’t think I could have done a better job.” she said to bolster the young girl’s confidence. “Well it’s very late now. I hope you don’t mind staying up too late, but you’ll see in the field of medics sleep is more of a luxury than a standard. You can go home and get some rest or you take a sip of some lovely tea before you go.” the woman said before turning to Orika and taking a cup. She slowly allowed a fourth of the cup down her throat with delightful results. “Wow Orika. You’re really good at this. We may have to keep you around to serves us tired nurses with some tea every morning hehe.” the woman said with a small laugh.

Akiko blushed on the outside, but secretly she basked in the praise. She was glad she did so well, though she did have some trouble starting out. Thinking back on it, it was a little embarrassing. But, she got through it... and thankfully, she was done. She was certain this wasn't something she wanted to do on a regular basis, especially if she wouldn't get much sleep as the nurse suggested. She knew she might someday have to do this in the field, when she and her casualty would both be in danger. She shuddered to think of how stressful that would be.
As she thought about this, her body automatically shuffled across the floor to the tea-drinking crowd. She took a cup but, thinking better of it, decided she didn't need it as much. She wasn't much of a person for tea, anyhow; at least, not tea ceremony. Aunt Yuki had tried to get her into it with disastrous results. Shaking off the awful memory, Akiko walked back over to the kid with the head injury. She placed the cup by his bed and put a hand on his shoulder. Upon her touch, his eyelids twitched a little, showing promising signs of returning to consciousness.
Akiko didn't quite know how to go about this. She suspected that he would be able to hear, but there was a good chance he might not be able to respond. So, in essence, it was like talking to herself or an imaginary friend. He may as well have been the latter--the whole experience was very surreal, if a bit trying. Stuttering a little due to nervousness, she began, "Umm, h-hello? Can you hear me? I... I don't know if you can, but... umm, my name is Akiko. Y-you're in a hospital right now--did you know that? No, I suspect you didn't..." She trailed off for a few seconds before working up the courage to speak again. "You cut your head up a lot, but... well, none of them are deep, so..." She thought about what she was about to say and realized that, if she wanted to reassure him, she needed to speak with a little more conviction. "You're going to be just fine. You just lost a little blood, is all. You should keep resting for now and take it easy for a while after." A short pause later, she continued, "Umm, I left some tea by your bed. It might be cold by the time you wake up, though..."
Akiko left the boy there to wake up and have the tea alone. She did have to get home, after all. She thought about getting a cup of tea for herself, but she decided against it. Taking one more look back at the unconscious boy and the enthusiastic nurse, she left the hospital--though not without getting lost on the way out, of course.

Kumiko gave the girl a small wave tonight. Her eyes then averted to Sorri who was still unconscious. Guess he would have to stay overnight, which meant her or Tenko would have to stay... Well it didn't look like it would be a quiet night anyways. There seemed to be a fire going on by the the student dormitory.... wait a fire??!?

After the sight of the flying rock Sorri's world went into a blank darkness and withing hours which fellt like minutes transferred into a world occupied by blackhaired warriors in weird body armor and siny leggings withdrawal monkeys tails. they seem to drive upon the urge for conquest, ir was something he wanted but the fighting was beyond amazing some of the strong could levitate and perfrom some harmful colorful lightending techniques that he would never see in reality. The ending of that illusion came when another began. This turn of images had been cuased but the scatter and scrambling of the clinic conversations as the Ibazi traveled in and out consciousness. Soon the randomness slowing ad he could her the low whispers of his temporary care taker, it was someone new, maybe an island visitor the.he was thankful no matter who it was. Sorri had been falling in and out of sleep since he returned from the plot of chared wood and ash that was his apartment. Maybe it was best if he stayed in the clinc till another living opportunity came to be attainable I should have expected my chkra to go as insane as it did, I didn't think wold get banged up though. I can move my fingers fine but I would have to out stretch my arm to try to practice and jutsu. I still have to learn the Sunshin before anything else So I;ve got to get up and do something..
Sorri stared out at the window and focuses more and more on his reflection "what the hell is on my face..."

[Exit to Next Day]
Orika spent another night in the clinic, having found a place to lay her head down and inevitably fall asleep. She didn't hear about the fire until she had awoken and heard the nurses talking about it. Her hand reached in comfort for the tea she'd made earlier as she quickly ran down to the housing district to survey the damage. Didn't look like anyone was hurt that badly or dead, good. The causes of the fire remained a mystery, however, and as Orika picked at some rubble, an idea came to mind. She was sad knowing that some students had lost their homes, but maybe she could do something to help them in the future. If anybody had gotten hurt, they would be at the clinic. She could help them out! Orika ran back to the clinic almost too happily and when she discovered none, she was both pleased and disappointed, then pleased again with some thinking. Hey, a lot of fires seemed to occur around Shimagakure! There wasn't anything anyone could do about that, but maybe she could help afterwards! Somehow...

She *could* ask a nurse to help her, but what fun would that be? Besides, Orika knew she was way too stubborn to do that. It would be better for her memory and learning if she did this herself anyway. Like, her mum could talk all she wanted about how to make tea, but until Orika tried it herself and without supervision could she find both the wondrous tea making joy and learn the process by heart. So, that's why she was a stubborn pig and wanted to do this herself, even though it would be so much simpler to just ask. Well, she was going for learning here, not just results. Orika sat down on a bed and reclined as if she were a patient. It was hella more comfy than sitting in a desk. So, she had to identify her objective. What did she want to achieve with her marvelous invention? She... wanted to make a medicine that would heal burns as fast as possible. Great! Um... how was she going to go about *doing* this? What kind of medicine would it have to be? A pill? A shot? Liquid? Well, her mum always advised putting cool water over a burn so the medicine would be smart to have be water based. And it was silly to make an injest-able liquid for a flesh wound. Naturally, she'd have to make a burn cream. No... a burn gel!

Okay, great! Orika took a piece of cheap paper from the desk next to the bed and rummaged around for a pencil. For a moment, she wondered why anyone would keep paper here, but as soon as the question escaped her parted lips in a whisper, she figured out the answer. Smart girl she was, truly. The nurses kept paper around because a lot of people on Shimagakure were writers and wanted to do so especially when they were sick. For some, that was how they escaped their pained past and current troubles. Others just liked the feel of doing something productive. The busy always had a To Do list to make or shopping to write down. People liked to draw. A few became mute from being sick and couldn't talk so they needed paper to communicate with. Students studied and adults worked on paper. It was necessary and absolutely needed and boy was she distracted! Orika bit her lip and tried to concentrate on scribbling down what was her topic of the hour: a burn gel. Now, the next step was to visualize just how she would make the burn gel, particularly what ingredient she needed. Hm... She realized she didn't know enough about burns and could hardly even remember what a burn looked like! Yikes! And she wanted to make medicine that would not only cure burns, but do it quicker than ever before?!

Well, that was one thing she needed. Knowledge. Orika scribbled it down on her piece of paper with big caps for BURN GEL at the very top so there'd be no doubt what she was planning out. Then, she put a description in her chicken scratch next to it. It was the same chicken scratch that was one of the main factors in getting her kicked out of that ladies' school. But enough of that. She had to concentrate! She could read her chicken scratch and that was what mattered. That, and getting organized so she could undertake this marvelous, possibly life saving project. Okay, so besides knowledge, what else did she need for medicine? Ingredients, of course! She scribbled that down, crossing out a few spellings until she found the right one. What next? Well, she couldn't just mash the ingredients all together. She had to figure out how to process the items! And then once the medicine was created, she'd needed to test it out on somebody, preferably herself so no one else got hurt because of her. But, eh, that would mean burning herself. Oh, well, all for the good of the people, she supposed. So that was it, just four not so simple steps and then she'd have her burn gel. Oh, she can smell that sweet.... something or other already!
