With the entrance of this new femme fatale on the scene, skilfully putting out the fire with her ninjutsu - what was it with pretty girls and ninjutsu on this island, really - Kane allowed himself to take a small breather, leaning against the well for a moment. He'd been running back there for another trip when the lady had showed up. He didn't look over at Kazuma yet, ignoring Hana by association, because he didn't know how he would react. Instead he walked slowly to Aya's side and clasped her shoulder. "You were really good there, Aya-san," he said appreciatively, his baritone voice striking clear through the hazy air. "You're a very skilled shinobi." This brought him unwittingly close to the Hyuuga, but Kane was so tired and his mind was still reeling at the danger Hanabira had been in, and so apart from a tired glance and small smile, he didn't talk to Kanami. However, he did flatten his hair self-consciously and run his fingers through it. He could really sympathise with the Hyuuga's frustration at her own hair.

"I-I-" Hanabira stammered as Tanu began shouting out angrily at not only Kazuma, but her as well. She had never been yelled at like that before! Naturally, tears began welling up in her olive eyes. "It was my fault," she stammered through large gasps for air. Everyone worked together quickly to put out the fire. Once the fire was out, Hanabira twisted the bottom of her jacket and looked over to Kazuma. Everyone had been mad at him right from the moment they had come upon the scene. Hanabira knew that he would get in a lot of trouble for this, but she had a feeling that this wasn't what he wanted to have happen. "Anno..." Hanabira said softly as she looked down at the ground. "I'm really sorry," she said, not looking or talking to anyone in particular, but hoping that Kane or Aya were listening. "Kazu-kun and I were tired from training... And we decided to go to Tanu-san's apartment to grab a quick bite, but... I'd never really used the stoves in the apartment before. I'm really sorry!" Hanabira said, trying to come up with a believable excuse. Looking up towards the Chunin gathered around the well, she hoped that they would believe her. She then turned to Tanu, only glancing into her eyes before looking at the ground. "It really was my fault..." the girl told her squad mate.

Kazuma would have none of Hanabira's pleads to get help and even when help came on it's own he did not help put out the fire. The boy was a fire starter not a fire killer, though an inferno hadn't been his original intention it was more enjoyable. " That's alot more revenge than I'd planned..." He muttered to himself while staring at the blazing apartment in awe. He wasn't really paying much attention to his surroundings till he no longer felt the tug on his jacket. When he turned he found Hanabira off trying to stop the fire along with everyone else and between everyone freaking out about it and her trying to defend Kazuma he'd had enough. "It was all me, thought this place could use a little... color." He grinned devilishly and started walking away from the mess while everyone was preoccupied, though he had little doubt they'd track him down and punish him eventually, such is life.

Hanabira was shocked that Kazuma stood up and took the blame for it instead of trying to take the easy way out with letting Hanabira take the blame. Keeping her eyes on the ground, Hanabira still felt the pressure from Tanu as she had yelled at Hanabira before. The girl had been too busy staring out the window to really pay attention to what Kazuma had been doing. As she looked up, watching Kazuma walk away casually, she admired him for standing up and not letting her take the heat. She always couldn't believe he was so relaxed about the potential punishment coming his way. As for Hanabira, she knew that Kane may be upset with her for trying to lie for the boy. However, for some reason, Hanabira knew that Kazuma was just a product of a bad turn of events. Kazuma had been just as startled as her when the fire spread out of control. The boy really didn't mean for the building to burn up... Just some of Tanu's things. There was no way that Hanabira would be able to communicate that to the others though... So, she just stood silent, waiting for one of the Chunin to take charge.

Aya was glad to have seen Kanami again. She had hoped the girl would show up since she had been training her baykugan to look around the village. As she recieved a pat on the back from the Hyuuga, Aya smiled weakly. "I can imagine," the girl said with a bit of a giggle as she imagined Kanami running into a tree. At Kanami's second comment, Aya merely tried to stand up to look over at the cause for the 'party' and felt a bit more strength return to her when Kane came to her side and clasped her shoulder. She blushed slightly, though it would be hard to tell since her face was a bit dirty from soot and sweaty from the large amount of chakra she had just sent out. "Thanks," she said accepting the compliment with a smile. Aya still hadn't gotten the hang of accepting compliments. Once she fully stood up, she felt rather short standing next to Kane. He was about half a foot taller than her! "Ah-" she started, and then raised her hand to pat Kane's hair as he did. "You've gotten a lot taller," the girl said, trying to relax in the stressful situation they had just endured. She really didn't want to think about what had just happened and who was responsible, but Hanabira and Kazuma soon took her attention to deal with the problem.

Immediately, Aya picked out Hanabira's lie. Why was she covering for Kazuma? Even though Hanabira was lying, Aya could tell that she was sincere when she said it was her fault. Aya shook her head from side to side in disappointment that Hanabira felt it was her fault for his actions. Just as Aya had expected though, Kazuma wasn't going to play into a lie. The boy smiled and said he had done it. "Kazuma!" Aya hollered as the boy walked away from them all, heading towards the shore. The girl groaned as he disappeared from sight. She was tired of dealing with Kazuma. His actions didn't make sense to her, she didn't know how to talk to him and she didn't know how to punish him! If Kana was here, Kazuma probably wouldn't have done that. If Kana was here, he'd know how to handle Kazuma. If Kana was here- Aya sighed after groaning and looked at Hanabira who stood in front of everyone to take the blame. The girl didn't say a thing to Kazuma's 'victim' and would let Kane handle her. "Moma-Yuki's gonna be mad," Aya said mostly to herself, since it had been said to her earlier to watch Kazuma closely. "Kazuma was my responsibility while on the island," the girl whispered to herself in order to prepare herself for Yuki's verbal lashings and maybe some punishment.

The Tenmoki girl would've thought that Shinichi, Natamo or Yuki would be here by now, but that wasn't the case. Her ocean blue eyes looked up and over at Kane. Normally, Aya would've taken charge by beginning preparations to find housing for everyone for the night, notifying Shinichi, going after Kazuma and punishing Hanabira, but the girl was mentally exhausted from the pressure that was being put on her from Yuki, her grudge towards Shinichi and the stress from trying to handle Kazuma. Not wanting to deal with any of these problems, Aya just looked towards the future. "I can't wait for our mission tomorrow," the girl said and then began to laugh just a little at her own lack of leadership at the moment. She was just eager to get out of the village and back to the mainland and only after spending half the day on the island. Turning to Kanami, Aya continued to smile and laugh lightly. "There aren't any parties like this on the mainland."

Rokugi walked over to the group and listened to the whole mess. There was Kane who had helped him long ago . It had been a while since he had seen him and was glad that he was ok after all that had happened. Apparently a boy was the cause of the fire. Everyone seemed to be blaming him even so a girl was saying it was her fault so he expected there to be some truth to what they thought. Once again he felt kind of odd not knowing what to say or what to ask. He barely knew most of the people here since most of them where older than him. Even more than that he couldnt understand why would someone burn a house down and risking the lifes of people around here? Seeing as the boy was leaving towards the shoreline, Rokugi tunred towards that direction " Hi Kane it was nice seeing you again." He lifted his left hand towards the guy and then walked towards the shoreline. He wanted to ask the boy if he had done it and if he did he must have had a reason, he couldnt believe that someone from Shima would so such an evil act just for a whim.

Kanami’s ears listened to the situation while her eyes lightly glided across the different figures. The young girl with freckles began to spit a lie in which Kanami easily picked up on. “Stammering… the slight pivot of the head towards the boy with an anxious look…. pause between answer yet not much hint of hurt and pain as if the cause… once again trying to verify it is her fault at the end…”. From all the reading the Hyuuga princess had to do on anatomy and psychology she could identify certain traits. Her eyes also aided in this. Even with the Byakugan not activated the noble eyes were still very good in detecting shifts in a person’s body while her mind’s sense can discern and come up with reasons for why that is. Also Kanami saw the entire crime with the Byakugan beforehand.

Soon though the green headed boy owned up to his mistake before storming off towards the shoreline. Aya had begun to call after him as the teen seducer’s eyes traveled between the freckled girl; was it Yamanaka Hanabira? Yes cause the blonde was Yamanaka Kane. How did Kanami know this? While she didn’t know all the shinobi, being an aid to the newspaper helped her know a few. One of her editorial associates had done an interview of the male before he went off to the Chuunin Exams. It was done at the wishes of Kanami and the little subordinate of the princess was more than willing to do it. She had a little girl’s crush on Kane after all. That was many of the females on Shima and even some on the mainland that knew of him. In terms of popularity with the opposite (and some same) sexes Kane was the male version to Kanami. Even the two toned hair girl had to admit that.

If this were a time set in the present with television sets and cartoons. The vixen’s first reaction to Kane’s picture would have been something similar to a cartoon character’s eyes turning into big hearts, her actual heart thumping out of her body and about to explode. Her jaw would have dropped to the floor and release her tongue that would have traveled ten feet on the floor with while saliva dripped like she was man’s best friend. Rockets and fireworks would have shot off in the sky followed by a pink background with roses, sparkles and dreamy music. But since this is the past, years so far back that electricity would be considered witchcraft; the diva had licked her tongue like predatory cat going to pounce on a prey when she first saw his picture years ago. Was it love at first sight? No. Kanami was pro. She knew the difference between love and lust. Still that did not change the fact that sooner or later she was going to get a piece of that blonde a**.

“Now’s not the time to be thinking that Kanami! It's a serious situation!” the girl thought keeping on her poker face. For now she’d have to try and alleviate the situation. First was to answer the question that almost passed by her ear. “Pfft. Not at the Hyuuga mansion. All those stiff elders would have heart attacks. Hehe. Although there are some places we can go on the mainland where the parties are wild. Uhh minus the place burning down… although there was that one time the roof was on fire…” the seductress thought back to one glorious party she had snuck out to with Fuyubi. Alcohol, candles and birds weren’t always a good thing. As she chatted with Aya the girl noticed a boy who said hi to Kane, but quickly walked away. Wasn’t it that kid in white from before? That was also someone else Kanami may have to keep tabs on in the future.

“So why did you two decide to burn down the dormitory? That's no good since none your friends have a place to sleep now.” the diva asked staring down at the freckled teen. May as well sort this situation out before anything else happens.

Kiba had run rather quickly, and yet the fire had worked even quicker and even already been put out. Still, its charred remainders were everywhere and plenty of its black smoke still lingered in the air. He felt terrible about not being able to help. He would have to be faster and more attentive in the future. He felt like he had let Tanu down. He walked around the area not knowing what all had just happened and only knew to check on his teammate. She looked upset and he was really worried and hardly knew what to do. He put his hand comfortingly on her shoulder. "Uh, Tanu? Are you ok?" he asked the young Kun Kumo. The dark eyes of the Raiken watched Tanu's reaction carefully to try and see how she was truly feeling. She was always so outspoken, and yet, emotional as she would get, she did not always seem to show her true, innermost feelings. That was what Kiba thought anyway.

Years of living with her made it immediately obvious to him that she was lying, and he couldn't help but wonder how close Hanabira was to Kazuma. He'd been away from Shimagakure for at least a year. Maybe their friendship even stemmed back to when Hide had been alive. But this wasn't really the time to be wondering about their relationship. Kane's heart was still beating fast, not only from the increased temperature and his efforts to put out the fire, but also from his worry for Hanabira and quite possibly something else. He just gave his sister a look that said 'We'll talk about this later' before deciding to scrounge up some semblance of authority from his parched self.

He gave Aya one last charming smile, remarking, "Well, it wouldn't do for a short guy to escort girls well, after all. You should rest, Aya-san. It's late and you look really tired," and nodded at Kanami politely, excusing himself from the group, before moving over to Tanu. He'd come close to losing almost everything he had once and had a pretty good idea of what she must be feeling. From the corner of his eye he spotted Kanami talking with Hana as well as Rokugi and gave him a wave. Rokugi was right; it really had been too long and hopefully they would get a chance to catch up sometime. However Kane was careful not to make it seem that he was ignoring Tanu. Once he reached her, he tried to comfort her by placing an arm on her back. "If you're in need of a place to stay, there's a spare bedroom in my place," he said to her. He wasn't sure if she would take him up on his offer since she'd have to spend the night under the same roof as hanabira but he was determined to help her as much as he possibly could. "Why don't we go look and see if some of your stuff survived," he offered, inwardly saying goodbye to nightclub-crawling tonight,

Tanu was FURIOUS! Veins were pumping hot blood to her head as she tried to put out the flames. Aya was telling her to pretty much 'shut up' and some ditz with big boobs was whining about her hair. "My entire home just burnt down, you dumb bimbo!" Tanu yelled throwing her bucket at the well the chunins were gathered around as hard as she could. The girl's fiery temper was almost calmed down when she heard Hanabira's story, but right when Kazuma butted in and admitted it was him, Tanu nearly lost her top. She began screaming all types of curse words at him as he walked away. "WHY ARE YOU LETTING HIM WALK AWAY!? DO SOMETHING!" Tanu shouted at the chunins as Aya merely let out a low whistle, and the dumb boobed bimbo asked Hanabira why they had burnt down the building. "Who cares WHY! He did it!" Tanu shouted, still pointing in the direction Kazuma had walked off in as one of the academy students went after him. The girl was huffing and puffing as Kiba put a hand on her shoulder and asked if she was ok. "No," she said, her violent screaming dropping in volume and tone as the Raiken came up to her.

Tanu had spent the last year trying to make a good name for the Kun' Kumo's after Kazuma dumb fire incident during the Meho war! She had changed her attitude and started working with others to try and set a noble example like her cousin Kana had. The moment Kazuma step back on the island he had ruined it all! He was the biggest disgrace to the clan and now Tanu would have to hear about how terrible the Kun' Kumo's were again! Getting so frustrated with the thoughts of Kazuma, Tanu turned to Kiba. "Where were you!? How come you weren't helping!?" Tanu asked, getting angry once again and now blowing the steam off on Kiba. As her new sensei came up and put an arm on her back, Tanu flailed her arms to get Kiba's hand off her shoulder and Kane's off her back. "I'm not staying with the person that helped in starting the fire!" Tanu shouted refferring to Hanabira as Kane offered a bed at his home. There Tanu was... being rude to her superiors again. "AAAAAAH!" she groaned in frustration as she stomped her feet on the ground and then took a deep... DEEP... breath. "Raiken," she said, pointing at him with her finger nearly poking him in the chest. "You will let me stay at the mansion since you failed to help save my belongings. Sensei, I appreciate the offer. Hanabira," Tanu paused as she narrowed her eyes at the freckle face girl. "You'll find everything you can of mine and bring it to me in the morning," Tanu ordered as if that was a way that Hanabira would gain some forgiveness from Tanu.

Feeling that she had gotten her temper under control, Tanu put her hands on her hips and nodded. She approved her own behavior now. Turning to Kiba again, Tanu was ready to get out of here. "Let's go Raiken. I need to bathe," the girl said in a demanding tone. She was covered in ash and sweaty from the heat of the flames. Before they left the area though, Tanu turned to Aya. "Keep Kazuma outta my sight or I might kill him," the girl warned Aya, who had once been labeled an enemy in Tanu's eyes, but was now a good friend after Tanu witnessed how loyal the Tenmoki was to her cousin. With that, the bossy red-haired preteen began to leave the area.

It had been quite some time since the dark eyes of the Raiken youth had wittnessed Tanu this angry. He observed everything around him carefully and listened well to Tanu in an attempt to piece together what exactly had happened. It seemed to him that Hanabira and Kazuma were key players in the destruction that was once the housing district. He wondered if any people had been seriously hurt. Still, he found it hard to believe that Hanabira would really do such a thing. It certainly would put some strains on the newly formed squad's bonds with one another.

A feeling of deep shame cast a dark shadow over Kiba's face as Tanu's words caused him to hang his head. Why had he not been there helping? What was wrong with him that he could not react faster. The Raiken swordsman was more than a little surprised when Tanu told him that she would be staying at the Raiken Mansion. More than that, however, he was relieved. If she was willing to stay with him that meant that she was not all that mad at him, or so he hoped anyway. He only hesitated a moment when Tanu left to go wondering if he should say anything to Hanabira. No, he definitely would not. She still felt like a stranger of sorts compared to the bond he and Tanu had forged between one another over the years. Without a word to anyone else the young Raiken silently turned and left after Tanu.

Hanabira looked down at the ground as Kanami came up to her. The little girl had always been a fan of the newspaper, reading interviews and learning Mai's recipes. She had seen Kanami interviewing people around the village before, so Hanabira knew who she was. "Anno... We didn't mean to... I mean... Kazuma didn't mean to," Hanabira began to explain as she paused, hoping that Kane would come over, but he merely walked past to speak to Tanu who was currently blowing her top off. The olive eyed girl watched with guilt as the hatred between the two cousins ran deeper from this new incident. "I think Kazuma just wanted to play a prank on Tanu. I honestly think that," Hanabira said, finally looking up at Kanami before Tanu said her name. Looking over to the burnt looking squad mate, Hanabira was expecting an insult or pledge of hate, but Tanu told her that she would find anything that was still tangible from the fire. "Hai!" Hanabira said quickly, bowing her head at Tanu. She was grateful for the punishment and glad that Tanu had given her something in order to make amends. Turning and bowing to Kanami quickly to excuse herself, Hanabira ran over to the charred home to investigate.

Hanabira carefully navigated her way through the burnt down apartments since the structure was weak and now prone to falling. Burnt down buildings was something that Hanabira had become familiar with since there were several attacks in Shimagakure that caused buildings to crumble. Somethings fires were a blessing that allowed the village to bond together to build something greater than what stood there before. Taking off her glasses, Hanabira cleaned the lenses carefully with the under cloth of her shirt. Everything she wore right now was rather dirty, but there were still clean spots. Making her way to Tanu's apartment, she looked around inside. There was barely a floor now and it looked as if her bedroom was never there. There wasn't a single article of clothing of Tanu's left since that's what Kazuma used to start the fire. There may have been some scrolls kept in iron cases that may have survived... Carefully, Hanabira began to make her way over to the closet, making sure to look carefully at what support the crumbling structure would give her with each step.

Finally making her way over to the bedroom, she saw that there wasn't a single item that had been carefully cased in some sort of metal for protection. Hanabira's hopes for receiving Tanu's forgiveness were quickly fading away as she continued to search through the rest of the room. Nothing. Hanabira carefully made her way back down from the second floor to where the chunin only remained. "I couldn't find anything..." Hanabira said softly to Kane, not looking him in the eyes. "I'm sorry for lying, Kane-nii," Hanabira apologized, calling Kane by brother rather than the new 'sensei' title that he had been given today. "I'll inform Yuki-sama of what we've done!" Hanabira said quickly, still willing to take full responsibility for what had happened even thought everyone knew it had been Kazuma. She rubbed her eyes, not for tears, but for focus. It was hard to see things off in the distance with ash in her eyes still.

"Mhm," Aya agreed with Kane, his charismatic smile forcing her to smile right back. She wouldn't go chasing after Kazuma tonight. Her intuition informed her that there would be no more mischief this evening. As she stood up to leave, she was stopped for a moment by Tanu's rants. She didn't say a word, she just let the girl vent and then saw something that sparked another smile. Kiba had come and placed a hand on her shoulder. Tanu's fiery temper and destructive attitude was quickly calmed down. Years ago, she remember Ichi telling her to stay by Kana's side and to be his friend. What Ichi had been asking her all those years ago was to be the cooling effect to Kana's fire. It seemed to be a pattern with the Kun' Kumo's now. They needed a close partner to keep that hot headed attitude at bay. Kana had Aya and now Tanu had Kiba. Tanu's behavior when she had first joined the village had been catastrophic. She had been skipping school, getting in fights and disrespecting teachers. It seemed now that Kiba was around her, the fiesty tomboy was calming down, just as Kana had calmed down from his pranks when he became friends with Aya. As Hanabira came out form the building to apologize to Kane, Aya couldn't help but interject.

"Hana-suke," the girl said, calling Hanabira by a nickname that had been given to herself since she was eleven. She knew what Hanabira wanted to be for Kazuma, so Aya would give her some advice. Squatting down in front of the girl, so she could not avoid the Tenmoki's deep blue eyes, Aya looked up at Hanabira's ashen face. "If you want to be a friend to Kazuma, you have to strengthen your heart," Aya whispered putting a gentle finger in the middle of the girl's chest. "Your heart is big, which is admirable, but its also weak. If you believe Kazuma is good, stand up for him, don't lie for him," Aya said, withdrawing her finger from Hanabira's chest. "Kazuma's never kept a friend, so you'll have to stand up to him as well. Its gonna be tough, but Tanu and Kazuma will eventually tolerate each other. You have to give them reason overtime though," Aya said, thinking back on how she got Maya and Kana to at least pretend to be nice to each other now. Since the academy, those two had been full of hate towards one another, but Aya had tried hard to mend the disagreements and hurtful words.

Standing up, Aya brushed a lock of pale blue hair away from her face. "You can do it, Hana-suke. I'll let Moma-Yuki know what happened tonight. Tomorrow will be interesting!" Aya said again, referring to the mission that they all would be going on. "Goodnight~" Aya seemed to sing, as she headed home for the verbal lashing from her her mother.
