{I'm going to switch computers after this post. It'll take only a second.}
Gerard crouched down as the boat sped toward the land. "I don't know. Maybe those contractors had something to do with it. Then again, the timing of that demon kid didn't just go over my head. He's strange, and I'm sure he has something to do with this."

"Damn right he's strange. He deflected my hollow point round like it was nothing. But those idiots in the bridge, they're gonna have a nice surprise. That kid will probably get them. I pray he does. I hope he feeds them to those zombies for being such idiots." Jake sighed, flicking the lighter cap on and off again. "So, how have you been since we split?"

Gerard slid into a sitting position, one leg bent upward, still smoking his cigarette. "After being rescued from those Filipino guys, I made my wasy from Austin Texas to S.O.R.U.'s base of operations. I was the only one from my original team to return. I was soon sent out on a mission to infiltrate a U.S. government lab facility to stop some master thief who had managed to break in. I'm guessing he was after the virus samples they kept there. I met up with him and even engaged in a short battle. He bested me easily though and, before knocking me out, left some government disk files with me. They revealed that the government had long stopped using the virus research to find a cure; they were using it as a weapon." Gerard sighed, and tossed his cigarette into the water. "I broke up with S.O.R.U., but it was a bad idea. Somehow they found the files I had, and then coined me as "wanted". I've been on the run for several months now, and I still have those disk files." Gerard smiled, examining his knife. "How have things been with you?"

"Very well actually. When we hit Texas and said our separate ways, I went and told command John and Bill were K.I.A. I knew s**t like this would continue and I didn't want them involved anymore. They went off their separate ways, making a new life. I retained my identity and went from city to city, working, building up a stockpile of cash for whenever I needed it. That time finally came. I bought brand new equipment, this boat, and a new friend who gave me info on a mystery cargo. That's why I'm here, I failed my previous mission but now I have a new one. Get us the hell out of this." Jake said, flicking the lighter as he told the story. His eyes seemed to glaze, and shortly return. "I miss em, but I think they're living better now."

"Well, anything's better than this f*cked-up mess. More damn zombis running around, looking for some red meat to chew on. This time, I didn't call for this. Those government bastards must have put me on that doomed cruiser. I woke up, handcuffed to the wall. But the strange thing is, I found a fully-loaded hangdun and knife in the room. I'm thinking they do't want us dead immediately. There was no security aboard that ship. I'm thinking that they want to see how far we can get."

"Maybe it was luck. Maybe someone on the inside is helping us. Either way, I don't like this." Jake suddenly stopped the boat, a shocked expression on his face. "The boat had zombies, the boat had survivors, what was the boat going to? What's on the landmass we're heading for? For all we know we're riding straight into the gates of hell."

Gerard sat up, a serious expresion in his face. "Well, going backward is probably a bad idea; who knows how much water is between us and civilized land?" Gerard leaned over the boat, swiping his hand through the water. "This water is very warm. And not in local pool fashion, but I mean that the climate could give us a clue as to where we are. That island there may have answers, and more reliable means of escape. We did this is New York, we can do it here. For all we know, it's a small island with tropical tucans and coconuts."

(nevermind i'll periodically check) Jake sighed. He then started laughing. "Attack of the tropical zombies!" He said through the laughter. "God, this will suck once the ship crashes, then we have zombies, and we're probably going to die. But, we're here, they're not, so we might have a chance. I wonder if zombies can climb trees?" Jake said, another smile playing on his face.

Gerard smiled, and looked at the island up ahead. "For our sakes, let's hope that the virus sticks to the human zombies, and doesn't spread to the animals. Monkey zombies would be able to climb trees, no doubt."
[Some of the island areas are available; check the newsplate. However, I might go to the mall in about 7 minutes. I won't be gone for more than 3 hours, tops.}

(Done with dishes) Jake laughed at that. "Yea, maybe we could build treehouses with machine guns in em!" Jake said. "Or at least treetop fortresses. We'll be safe if they can't climb trees. We could have lotsa fun like that!" Jake sighed. "But seriously, first things first. Find water, stay inland, in a choke point probably, make a barricade, what not. Maybe we'll make it out of this place alive."

[Has Jake resumed his driving of the boat?]

( eek maybe) Jake started the boat going again. "I'd say another couple of minutes to the island." He said. "I just hope we can survive there without the zombies, let alone with them."

"Without those undead creatures, it shouldn't be too hard. I trust you've experienced exotic warfare, hmm? I did once; it takes some getting used to. Besides, we're not fighting guerilla forces. We're fighting flesh-eating corpses."
