Angel connected to the Lieutenant and the Captains COM sets, "I've got a fix on the beacons location. It's 20 clicks east of your current position; looks like it's coming from a metallic structure, second story."

Hearing the transmission Seth paused in his movement. He contacted Lee briefly, checking in for a change in orders. "Sir?" He asked. Knowing Lee had heard the relevant information.

"Sir!" Turning to Master Sergeant Henry, he gave a sheepish look. "Sorry sir, but you have to take command of htis one." Unholsetering his BR55, he checked the chamber full, and the ammo count read a reassuring 36. HE Pistol was loaded and holstered, and his medical kit was good to go. The beautiful landscape belied a sinister secret, he was almost sure of it. Well, he'd be one of the first to find out.

He scanned the horizon, looking for the highest point available. A plateau of crabgrass (it looked like) and small, hardy bushes poked up a good 50 meters into the air, and held a commanding view of most of the valley they were in. He could see both up, and down, the valley body, and either slope was his and Henry's to command with superior angles and deadly firepower.

Warren pulled himself off the ground and took his helmet off. He wiped the blood from his nose onto his sleeve and put his helmet back on. "understood sir" He said back over the com. His little spell seemed not to get anyone attention, and he was glad for that. Last thing he needed was people thinking he was insane. "Dansmith lets get to our position". He surveyed the area trying to find that shed, from his vision.

[James Mitchell]

James nodded and said "Yes sir." He was abit uneasy about Warren, but he shook the thought out of his head and steeled himself. (Sorry for such a short post.)

Lee looked due Magnetic East of his position and saw what looked like a pleasant country road crossing over gently sloping hills. In the distance, what looked like a small village of greyish-tanned huts popped up on the side of a small cliff. So far, nothing had come to his attention.
"Alright, Seth. We're good for now. Sergeant Maxwell, Keep a squad of marines from third platoon and keep an eye on the Pelicans. Everybody else, we're walking east."

"Warren, what's your longest-range weapon? We've got to give the others covering fire, and the best I've got is a BR. And screw pistols, I ain't no God-shot at pistols." He started up the slope, and the air grew distinctly colder when they reached the summit. Far in the distance, he spied a glinting, metallic spire with formation lights blinking over it. A strange thought hit him.
"Hey, Warren. If the sun's always at noon, do you think it ever gets 'night' here? I mean, what, does the sun turn off every twelve hours, Cause that'd be something to admire." Ashton knew it was ludicrous, and his joking tone conveyed that.

[[hey, guys, I gotta go watch a show with my mom, it should be over in about an hour. drag Ashton along, would ya?]]

(I'll take care of MMCM)

"More jokes" Warren sighed. Ashton was a good guy and everything. But today, he wasn't in the mood. He heard the order to begin moving, and him Ashton began walking east. He surveyed the area with his Battle rifle, watching for enemy contacts. As important it was to find that shed, he wasn't risking his company lives over. He still kept an eye out for the shed from earlier. He heard the grass crunch under his boots. He scanned the area slowly. "West end clear" He muttered over the com.

Seth acknowledged then contacted Dansmith and Henry, "Hold up boys, We're all on our way. Radio in your position to the Captain."

Seth began to head out with the rest of the company, gesturing for Mitchell to follow, he unslung his BR55 and held it at the ready.

This place was far too quite. Moving up Seth reached Captain Lee and addressed him quietly.

"Sir, Dansmith and Henry report zero contacts, and no activity. The place's a ghost town. Maybe the A.I. read her readings wrong." It'd be a big deal for an A.I. to make a mistake like that, but Seth thought it'd be best to explore the possibility.

The day dragged on slowly as the marines walked the 20 miles in relative peace, the strange familiarity of the environment they were wandering in instilling a deep respect but also sense of insignificance within their beings. Every garden was magnificent, every flower was a work of art that Lee would've had to pay a horrendous sum of money to see while in UNSC space. Pretty soon the long walk was over, and the marines had begun to get cozier with the area, some going as far as to take leaks in the nearby bushes or put a few branches on their helmets. If anything, they were getting far too comfortable with the area.
The march stopped when Able company reached the outskirts of the small village still visible on the hills in front of them. Who knew what was there, however, so the entire company stopped before walking in. Lee thumbed his mike again, something about the buildings bothered him.
"Angel, that two-story up on the cliff look about right? It's the only two-story I see right now."

{{Alright, guys. Excellent RPing for now. Dest is going to be back online in about an hour, and we can't continue without him. Character building is still possible, just don't rush into the village or start shooting at anything.}}

Warren signaled Ashton to wait at the bottom of a hill and keep an eye on the rest of Able company. Warren climbed the hill hoping to get a better look at the station. He reached the top of the hill and threw himself to the ground. He scanned the horizon and got zero contacts. He began looking around and saw a couple of buildings. One of them matched his shed. 'Sir there are a few buildings near us, I'm ordering Ashton to stay back and I'm going to sweep the buildings for hostiles". He ordered Ashton to the top of the hill and for him to wait there. He walked down the hill towards the shed.

Ashton looked at Henry as he walked away to the buildings. "You sure this is a good idea" He said over the com. "It's fine" Warren said back. Ashton surveyed the area again and no sign of enemy movement. He took this chance to look at everyone's vitals and saw that Warrens brain wave pattern's were ad-normal.

(Heading into the village, not there yet)
PostPosted: Sun Jan 27, 2008 6:51 pm

Lee spotted one friendly radar blip separating from it's pair on his HUD, going towards a portion of the village they hadn't cleared yet. The FOF tag indicated that the marine was Sergeant Warren, currently on lookout duty with Corporal Dansmith. Lee sighed and knew that he had to make it perfectly clear to everyone that they were not to enter the village until Angel had completed her scans.
"Sergeant Warren, I trust there is good reason for you to walk into unexplored territory alone and without authorization? Because last I checked, you were supposed to be on lookout duty, not vacation."

Warren stopped dead in his tracks and frowned under his helmet. All the answers were right there, he was so close. "I'm going to just checking this section for hostiles, Ashton has my back". He replied over the com. "Want to make sure were not ambushed sir" There was some truth in Warren's words. The area was a good spot for the ambush, and if it was flood better to only send one man in and let him get infected, instead of risking a whole party. "Shall I hold for now sir?"
PostPosted: Sun Jan 27, 2008 7:18 pm

Ashton checked the squad's vitals: Henry's abnormal brainwaves dropped, and normal waves returned to dominancey. Henry seemed to have snapped out of his spell, ad was finally thinking clearly... for now.
"Warren? For what it's worth, I think this is a s**t idea. We're gonna sweep all these buildings, be damn sure of that. We'll get to this one soon enough. I've got your back if you still want to go in, but there's no stopping Captain Lee from kicking your a** or ordering me to sedate you, sir."
